Installing Imagemagick on OSX Server

Hi
I'm trying to install Imagemagick onto the server. If I follow these instructions
http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php?ImageMagick=1l0pnkv7t9gp1m a6p2vi3epu13#macosx
I get an error of:
dyld: unknown required load command 0x80000022 osx server imagemagick
I've looked around and can't seem to find anywhere that tells me how to install it
I'm wondering whether to use macports but will this change my localhost directories, etc... and mess up the other things I have running on the server
Cheers
Andy

Hi,
I've installed Imagemagick on 10.5 and 10.6 client. Haven't had the need on server yet but it shouldn't be much different. Other installs to /usr/local on server have worked fine for me.
XCODE 3 and X11 must be installed prior to continuing with the following installation on Mac OS 10.4 & 10.5
Go to http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20080818051248464
which has you run a series of bash scripts: at http://pastie.org/254887
This loads the modern image formats (jpeg and png), then ghostscript fonts needed for rmagick.
Then ImageMagick itself is loaded and all links point to it within the location it was compiled.
I selected /usr/local
Test the installation by
start up an X11 terminal window by starting Applications -> Utilities -> X11
$ cd ImageMagick-6.5.2-5/images
$ convert logo: logo.gif
$ identify logo.gif
$ display logo.gif
which should produce the sorcerer image on the X11 terminal window.
There is a single shell script for doing all this on 10.6 with the options for architecture setup.

  • How do I re-install my Mac OSX Server from scratch

    Hi,
I have purchased two MacMini Servers with 10.6 OSX Server software pre-installed.
I have changed the organization as our company name changed and run into license issues.
I want to re-install the Mac OSX Server software and start from scratch. How do I go about this. I tried yesterday for many hours to do so and the new installs are still running into duplicate license issues and other issues. What is the best approach to do re-install? I am willing to erase the internal Hard Disk and boot (with an external DVD optical drive) if that is the best way to go. What are the steps?
I have the original CDs or DVDs and have extra, external hard disks to do a Time Machine backup, etc.
    Thanks,
    Don

If you are looking to do a nuke and pave of the system, and you have an external optical drive, then yes, that is likely the most direct method. Connect the optical drive, insert the installation DVD, and reboot the system targeting the optical disk as the boot volume (you can do this by holding down the C key or the Option key during startup).
Now, if you do not have an optical drive, you can put the installation disk into another Mac running 10.6 and use the Remote Install Mac OS X application in your Utilities folder.
    Hope this helps

  • Installing CF on OSX Server - Web Server/Website issue...

I am trying to install Cold Fusion onto a OSX Snow Leopard Server, and when I get to the Configure Web Servers/Websites portion, my site that is set up on the Snow Leopard server is not showing up in the Web Servers/Websites selection box, and because of that I cannot move past this part of the configuration of CF.
Does anyone have any idea of why the site is not showing up in the box and/or how to fix this issue?
    Many thanks,

  • How do I install Mavericks without invoking the OSX Server Plugin?

How do I perfrom a clean install of Mavericks from the Recovery Partition without it automatically installing, and then invoking or executing the OSX Server Plugin that ultimately results in rendering open directory operable as well as the server.  I have ignored this continously, but the other day I went into the terminal and typed ARP -s that lists the shortname for the host of my MacBook Pro and it gave a totally different name than what I had given it in the wi-fi network interface under the WINS tab. More importantly, I do not want to install open directory nor the osx server plugin as it opens up more complexity than I want to deal with.  Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.  BTW, below are the steps I performed for installing Mavericks.
    1. Powered on the MacBook Pro and then hit the Option key.
    2. This took me into the Recovery Partition, whereby I went into the Disk Util and erased or formatted the hard-drive.
    3. I then clicked out of the Disk Utility and went into the Recovery Mode by clicking on reinstall the current OS.
    4. I went through all the prompts and the system downloaded a current version of Mavericks.
    5. After completion, I turned on my Macbook Pro and went through the prompts to install Mavericks.
    6. This is all I did, and I didn't download the OSX plugin nor invoke it in the new version of the Operating System.
I just assumed that it was a standalone version until I found the server for osx running with open directory invoked, the server invoked, along
with other components relative to a new standalone version.
Again, my question is simple: How can I reinstall Mavericks without it downloading and automatically
iinvoking the components as described above?

Hi. Because both Mavericks and Windows 8 are still new, they may not be free of error. Apple needs more time to perform more tests to ensure that these two different OS's will work properly without getting in conflicts. If it's posdible, I highly recommand you to downgrade back to Lion or Mountain Lion and install Windows 7 (if you have a copy of it). In my experience, all advises from Genius Bar members and computer articles confirm that  Windows 7 will work on Macs with Lion OS. It should also work on Mountain Lion. Besides Boot Camp, you could try to virtualize Windows OS and its applications by using VirtualBox, CrossOver and other VMs. I already have an Oracle VirtualBox but I would like to try Boot Camp since it allows me to enjoy almost all Windows features that may be limited in VMs.

  • Help for first install of macpro with osx server

    Hello to all
it's my first message on this forum, i'm seeking for help because i'm kind of new with Mac systems.
    I'm gonna explain the problem
So we are going to buy a mac pro and put 4*2To inside with raid 5 and osx server.
The problem is that the cost of installation of sotwre and deployement etc is really expensive.
I need to create a vpn too, this mac pro is gonna be a storage and multiple users must have acces to it. In fact this mac will be connected on the router and users will acces to it on local network then later we're gonna move from our base so the mac will be at the home of one of us and other users will have to access it from outside.
I was thinking avoyding cost of install by doing it myself.
So i've thinked that the best way to do it is by asking help to the community.
Is anyone can help me with this or tell me where i can find tutorials to do it?
I have skills but this is hard form me. The thing is that i learn fast. But i need help.
Maybe my post is not really clear i write as it comes to me, english is not my langage too.
So feel free to ask me questions or informations if you need.
In the same time i'm reading posts on the foum about this kindof installations.
    Thank u so much
    .anto.

    Dear Marcassin
i am happy to help to your problem .
first i would say you must read the Documentation. and you should familier with Mac Os installation System.
in your Mac Server DVD you will find the schedule sheet . print that and plan your server first. it will really help full. then come and list down the all the requirements.
may be you will need more services after that.
But again again again . read that sheet and fill all the requirements. and come back or read specific captors in the Documentation.

  • Re install of osx server stuck

    Hello!
I'm very new to this, (macs at home and posting things that is!!) but hope somebody can help. You'll have to bear with me! (My apologies if you've seen this before but I've just realised I posted it in the wrong area and didn't know how to move it so I've reposted it here. Really sorry!)
I've got a G3 (blue & white one) with OSx server 10.2 (maybe 10.2.8, can't check at the moment) loaded on it. Firstly, can I install Tiger 10.4 onto it? Because when I put the install disk into the mac it didn't recognise it. I have two hard drives, so huge space.
I have a big prob though. I had startup troubles, which I fixed and then decided (maybe very wrongly!) to reinstall the server software again, try freshening it up. I did the complete erase and install. So I followed the installer prompts but at the end, the "finish up" section, it just sat there. The blue bar never got any bigger and it sat like that for 15 hours. (I have quite a bit of patience...) Surely that's not normal??
What do I do? It seems to be stuck. I've reset, unplugged and started up again the the welcome to install screen is there, no way to get out of it and so I go through the process again. Again it sticks on the last "finish up" section, I can't get out of it.
I'm not that experienced with macs. Its my first one, a second hand one. I use a mac at work, a G4 for design work, but everything with software and upgrades is done for us, by the guys we bought the equipment from. I think macs are amazing so wanted one at home, so when the opportunity to purchase the old G3 server came up I took it!
I've tried holding down the c during startup, to start from the install disk, that didn't work.
Please can somebody help me out before I pull all my hair out?!?!? (Mind you, I wonder what I would look like bold? h Nah, on second thoughts... please help...)
    Yours hopefully

How to Clean Install OS X Mavericks - OS X Daily
Alternatively, you can boot into internet recovery (option + command + R) and proceed from there (versus creating a bootable installer).

  • I have installed OSX server but I want to go back to Mountain Lion. How do I do this?

Can some one tell my how to remove OSX Server completely and return my system to the stand alone instalation of OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.1, please?

OSX Server for Mountain Lion is just an additional service.
For installing it, you moved "Server.app" in your Application folder and then run it.
For removing it you get some software like "AppCleaner".
    You can download it HERE.
All you do now, move the "Server.app" to the "AppCleaner".
AppCleaner will list now all the files and folders that Server.app installed.
Restart your computer after you're done. There are most likely additional folder and configurations
but the main 'server' part should be gone. For everything else, look there:

  • Installing Mac OSX Server hangs at Network Configuration

    Hi there!
I am installing my new Mac OSX Server (SNow Leopard) straight forward the assistant.
    Asking for Language: OK
    Asking for Country: OK
    Keyboard Layout: OK
    Entering License: OK
    Configuring Network:
    Ethernet: Static
    Airport: OFF
    FireWire: OFF
Clicking on Forward to continue: The assistant keeps telling me "configuring network". Nothing happens. It is doing that for hours now.
I tried to connect with Server Admin tool: OK works.
The network is up and running, but the assistant is not continuing.
    Any ideas?
Thanks for any help or suggestion

Smells vaguely of a DNS error or IP routing or a network connectivity problem.
What did you specify for your network settings, and particularly what was entered for the DNS server address? If you're not running DNS on your local network here, then enter no DNS servers as part of the prompting, and let Mac OS X Server establish its own default single-host DNS.
(You're not going to be able to use your ISP DNS here; those ISP DNS servers are not valid when you are establishing a server on a network behind a NAT gateway.)
I'd probably wipe the disk and boot from DVD and reload.

  • GarageBand and OSX Server have 'INSTALL' buttons in App Store when they are installed

    Hi,
GarageBand and OSX Server keep showing up under the Purchases tab in App Store with an 'Install' button even though they are installed.  All the other apps that are installed have an 'Open' button.  I tried installing multiple times and it keeps saying 'Install'.  My concern is that I won't get updates because the system thinks they're not installed.
    Regards, Patrick

Unless you erased the disk when you reinstalled OX v10.7, your apps should still be in your Applications folder.
You can only, "Accept" one time...
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

  • Not installing Mac OSX Server 10.5.4

    Hello Friends...
I purchased Mac OSX Server 10.5.4 Leopard DVD.
I would like to install and configure it.
According to the manual , its not working.
It is getting upgrade to my Mac mini 10.5.7.
After installing , it wants to restart. But, its not booting and getting always restarted.
So, any advices and suggestions from your side.
    Regards,
    Bhanu

I'm going to point you to these two places to see if you can resolve your issues:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2019706&tstart=300
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3479
Basically what happens is if you insert the Server install DVD and start the installer package, if the DVD will boot your Mini it will show the 'Restart' button. If it can't, the installer will run and then you should follow the instructions in the second link.
Given the fact that many have tried and failed with the second method, I would attach the Mini, in target disk mode, to another Intel-based machine and run the install from there with the Mini as the target. Then boot the other machine from the Mini's disk and let the Setup Assistant finish -don't configure any services on the server in this mode other than setting it up as standard or advanced, apply any updates and then restart. Then shutdown both machines, detach the Mini, then let it boot on its own and continue configuration from there. I've done this several times with both PPC and Intel-based machines with positive results.

  • Install fail OSX server 10.6

I am attempting to install ARD 3.3 from DVD to OSX server 10.6.8. I keeps crashing when I try to install saying a newer version exists on the server. Any help would be appreciated. I rebooted the server after I saw this message but th I attatched two screen shots of the error in question. Thank you for your consideration.

    Try this:
    • Insert your ARD CD
    • Open in Finder
    • Right click on the Remote Desktop.mpkg and show contents
    • Navigate to contents/installers
    • Drag the RemoteDesktopAdmin.pkg file onto the system and install
    • Run Software Update
    • Upgrade to the latest version of the admin application
You may need to completely uninstall ARD and then reinstall it before this procedure will work. Follow these instructions for the uninstall:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2577
Your screen shots didn't post, by the way. The only way to include an image is to click the "camera" icon in the toolbar you see when you create or reply to a post.

  • I installed OSX server 10.6 snow leopard on my IMAC, but still have choppy videos. can anyone tell me how to fix the problem

I installed OSX server 10.6 snow leopard on my IMAC, but still have choppy videos. can anyone tell me how to fix the problem

By your use of "still", did this problem exist before OS X Server was installed?  OS X Server itself has no particular linkages to video processing, beyond what OS X client provides.
Some details on the configuration might be useful.  Are these videos you're having issues with stored locally in files, or are these videos received over the network and played?  If the videos are local, have you tried playing the videos from a different disk?  If the video files are remote, can you download the videos and play them as a test?
What software are you using to play the videos?  QuickTime?  QuickTime X?  Does using VLC or another player work better?  There are some discussions of choppy videos around the forums, too.

  • Installing OSX Server on new Mac Pro Nehalem

Mac Pro received at the weekend. I have encountered a problem that I will need your assistance to resolve with installing OSX Server 10.5
    1. We have OSX Leopard Server on DVD - version 10.5 which won't install onto the Mac Pro.
    2. I have checked online and this is a known issue see here : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3479
    3. I have followed these steps and I now have OSX Server 10.5.7 installed
    4. Problem is that without a bootable OSX Server DVD I cannot reinstall my timemachine backups via the utility on the DVD.
Please let me know how I can proceed as I cannot complete the migration without a bootable DVD.

Can Server be cloned the same as client version?
Can you clone client and upgrade the second OS to Server as your real bootable backup?
Why not restore from TimeMachine first, then upgrade to server? (Not a fan of TimeMachine though and prefer other methods).

  • After a Hard Disk failure in my MacMini Server (late 2009) I cannot install OSX Server 10.8

Relaced the Hard Disk (task undertaken by an Apple Store) and installed Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and all went well.
Downloaded OSX Server 10.8 from the App Store and all seemed to install fine in that I get a success message.
BUT every time I try and run the Server app subsequently it starts again to `Set up your server` and does not give me the interface as described in the various guides. In other words it is repeating the setup process over and over again and I am going around and around in circles.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance

  • OSX Server wont install from clean boot

    Hello
I cannot get my Mac Mini to install osx server 10.5.4 straight of the DVD.
Only way i got it working was by installing normal leopard and then running the upgrade from within.
Please can i be told to how to install straight of the disk?
(When i try normally, it just reboots into osx/or gets stuck in a reboot loop?

In this case, you will have to have [whatever version of Mac OS X client is appropriate for this particular box|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1159] installed or reinstalled, then start the installation of Mac OS X Server per [HT3479|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3479]
If you've an unbootable installation on your disk as is likely the case here, use Disk Utility in the installer to erase the disk, and then roll in the backup you made prior to starting the installation of Mac OS X Server or roll in the Mac OS X client software from the DVD that came with the box, and then follow the steps defined in [HT3479|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3479].
As for the proposed sequence, you likely won't need to update the 10.5 Mac OS X software here (once that software is reinstalled or reloaded or installed onto the box), and can probably go straight to the Mac OS X Server installation, and can then update Mac OS X Server to current.
