Installing iwork 08 on several computers

What happens if I install iwork 08 on more than the said 5 computers? All of the computers are in the same household. Will the program shutdown or what will happen?

You mean that there's no technical restrictions to install iWork on several Macs (even if it's the single user edition) ? Does the software only need a valid Serial Key to be activated, even though this one has already been used on another Mac ? (Contrary to how it works on Win XP with recent MS products who refuse to be activated if the Serial Key has already been used on another PC)
I tried to ask that question to the Apple rep. in my local Apple Shop (french version of the Apple Stores) but couldn't get any answer (they just smiled at me and said they couldn't tell me). I'm a very soon switcher-to-be, so I really have no idea about how it works. I'm asking this question because I'm gonna buy an iMac and a Macbook very soon with my Education discount, but the Apple online store won't let me buy a familial pack of iWork with the discount - just the single user edition. I don't wanna be stuck with a software I could install on only one of the Mac - and would prefer to get a familial pack from my local Apple shop then.
Thanks.

  • Can I download lion to one computer and then install it on several computers I own?

Can I download lion to one computer and then install it on several computers I own?

You can install it on as many computers that you personally own. But if you have several then you may want to avoid having to download it multiple times:
    Make Your Own Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Lion application. After Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing Lion.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disc image file into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable Lion installer that  you can use without having to re-download Lion.

  • One Install Disk for Several Computers

I'm upgrading our small office systems (10.3.9 Server on a 1.25GHz G4 Tower and 7 eMacs running 10.3.9)
I just bought the 10 license version of Tiger 10.4.7 Server and also want to upgrade all our 10.3.9 eMacs to Tiger. Can I go out and buy a single version of Tiger and install it on all our eMacs without the server checking the serial number on all the connecting machines and not letting everyone connect? Or am I hooped and have to buy a family pack of Tiger and two single copies? I know each computer is technically supposed to have it's own copy, but we're a non-profit theatre company with NO money to spend on this project, which means I'm paying for this myself and I'm hoping to not spend an extra $700 for extra copies of OS X:)
    Thanks muchly

Couldn't find it on the Apple Canada site, but AppleStore US sells the following. Even if you have 100+ machines, I don't know why you wouldn't just buy 10+ single-user copies its hella cheaper.
    Single-User License
Upgrade 1-9 computers in your organization to Mac OS X Tiger, the world's most advanced operating system featuring innovative technologies like industrial-strength desktop search and powerful AES-128 encryption - plus hundreds more features.

    Or
    Mac OS X Volume Licensing
Whether your business is large or small, the Apple Volume Licensing Agreement (VLA) provides an easy and cost-effective way to purchase Apple's Mac OS X software. Discounts are based on the number of licenses you are purchasing of each product, and volume pricing starts at only 10 seats.

    B. iWork Single User License. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software (whether
trial or full version) on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software
to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software available over a

  • Creative Cloud for photographer, Can I install in several computers? Does it includes a cloud backup solution?

    Hi All,
This questions are regarding Creative Cloud - Photographer plan.
    1. Can I install in several computers? For instance, install Lightroom on both my PC and my laptop.
    2. Does it includes a cloud backup solution? I mean a "real" cloud backup solution, something like crashplan.
    Thanks,
    Rave.

Yes, you have 2 activations and can use it on 2 systems. You get cloud storage, but well, the sad truth is it's so full of quirks and unreliable I wouldn't entrust it any critical data.

  • I had installed Maverick on two computers.  The first one is a Mac Mini a new one and it gave me Keynote and Number for free.  The other computer is a iMac and if I want Keynote and Number I must pay 19,99$ each.  Why do I have to pay on the iMac?

I had installed Maverick on two computers.  The firs one is a new MacMini that my husband purchased last week.  When I had installed Maverick the applications Numbers and Keynote were free and installed on his computer.  When I do the same on my iMac, I had to pay 19,99$ for each applications.  We have two differents Apple ID.  Why I do pay for these applications when those were free for the iMac and in the add Apple say it's free?  Or, is somebody can tell me how to installed those for free.
    Thank you.

They are only free via the account orginally purchased or if they came pre installed on the computer. Depending on what you have purchased already us the one account for the app store - saves headace and hassel in the future thus not double buying software. Do you have iwork installed on your imac? meaning the iwork 09? if you do your should be able to to to the store and update it. Worked fine for me since i bought the DVD version of iwork 09 and Aperture 3. I did not want to have to rebuy them so the app store noticed i had them installed and changed the update via the app store.

  • How can I install iWork '09 on new MacBook with Lion?

I have an install DVD for iWork '09 (9.0.3), and I've been running iWork on my iMac for several years without a problem, even after upgrading to Lion. Now I have a new MacBook Air with Lion preloaded and am trying to install iWork on the new machine. I was able to install from the DVD using drive sharing, but when I try to open Pages, Numbers or Keynote, I get a message that says "Pages cannot be opened because of a problem" -- presumably because I need to update iWork for Lion. After downloading the iWork 9.1 update, I tried to open it but get an error message that says "A newer version of Keynote has already been installed."
This doesn't make sense to me, since the version I installed from the DVD is definitely older. How can I update iWork to run on my new machine?
By the way, I tried just copying the programs from my iMac with AirDrop, and I get the first error message I mentioned above.

    MN,
I don't know why the Drive Sharing idea didn't work. I can think of reasons that copying with AirDrop wouldn't work.
At some point you may just want to give up and purchase Pages using the Mac App Store. It's ridiculously cheap and easy.
I worry that you have so much inoperable iWork stuff on this computer that it needs a good clean-up, whichever way you decide to go.
Yvan Koenig has a script to do the purging of old copies of iWork files that you can run before you make any more attempts at installing iWork or any of its components. It the last item on this page as of this writing...

Sounds like you installed iWork from before there was the Mac App Store.
If you installed it from a Family DVD you are entitled to install that on 5 computers and can do that from the DVD.
If not then you need to purchase it from the M.A.S. and will be able to install it on any of your computers using the same Apple I.D. However Apple is promising a new version before Christmas so it may not be a good time to buy now.

iPhone WiFi issue. I enter a password, click join, and get a message back that it is an incorrect password. I have several computers and other iPhones connected using the same password. Any ideas?

    Hey there Gordo456,
It sounds like you are not able to join your Wi-Fi network with the correct password on 1 out of many devices. I recommend the troubleshooting from the article named:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    Restart your iOS device.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
If that troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, I would next try these steps from further down the article:
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Verify that you're attempting to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Make sure you're entering your Wi-Fi password correctly. Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • How to download App Store update once and update several computers? is Remote desktop an option?

I have very slow internet and I'm looking for a way of downloading a App Store update once and update several computers all of them are on the same app store account and same network, would remote desktop be able to do that? The account is a single user account, and there is no problem to download the updates to each computer, from a licensing perspective. It's the time all those downloads take with 1 Mbs internet speed, hats the problem. I managed to move the yosemite download out of the application folder and copy it to all my mac's but say a "pages" update will install automatically when download is complete and delete the downloaded file. So I'm wondering if Remote desktop would allow me to distribute one download to all my macs?

I found the solution: Download Pacifist and the 10.6.7. Combo Update and extract the App Store.app from that update into the app folder. Then every thing works fine.

  • Problem installing iWork 08

I just tried to install iWork 08 and every time I try to run one of the apps it tells me there are files missing. I have re-installed several times and it's still happening. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    JS
From my experience, reinstalling will NEVER work. I installed iWork '08, got it up and running, then my computer hard drive crashed (don't think iWork had anything to do with that). When I got my new hard drive, I dragged all my old files (including applications) from my backup, and everything worked except iWork.
I kept getting "Files that iWork needs are missing." I dumped everything to do with iWork from my hard drive, and reinstalled from my CD, and kept getting the same message.
This has actually happened twice to me. This last time, the only way I got iWork to function was to install the trial version (downloaded from Apple), and install it using a shareware program called "Pacifist." It evidently forces files to overwrite existing files, which the CD will not do.
It is not obvious how to use Pacifist, but if you can figure it out, I believe it will work. It might work on the CD installation as well. I did not have to try that.
Once the trial version was installed, I just typed in the serial number from the CD box, and iWork has been functional ever since (5 days so far).
    Good luck.

  • Can I have the same product installed in my two computers (home and office)?

Can I have the same product installed in my two computers (home and office)?

Yes, as long as the two machines both meet the system requirements for whichever software this concerns.

  • Can I use the install disk on two computers?

I haven't actually installed it on my computer yet, I just allowed whatever was going to install itself to come up. If I have another computer, can I use the install disk to put OSX on there or not? If so, can I still use it in case I need a backup load of my computer?

Only if you get a family pack license newer than the installer disk which came with the computer(s) can you install it on multiple computers. Check your license agreement.
You can't use the disks which came with another computer on a second computer. These articles explain more along those lines:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25517

As for backup, I recommend looking at these various procedures:

  • Is it possible to re-install iWork 09 without the physical CD?

I bought iWork 09 two years ago from an Apple store in the UK but have since moved abroad to Australia.
I installed the software on my MacBook (late 2008 model) but have since had to replace the hard drive so it is no longer installed.
Is it possible to re-install iWork 09 without needing to pay to re-download it from the App store? I have the serial numbers and barcodes but not the physical disc with me.
    Thanks

The physical DVD required no serial number. If you have lost that yes you will need to buy the M.A.S version with the consolation that it is cheap here and can be installed on all your Macs at no extra charge.
If you have a serial number it is possible you bought the downloadable version, in which case use that to install and use the serial number when prompted.
