Installing OCF

m facing problem during installation of Open Card Framework
These are the steps that i've taken to install the OCF
1.Download the installOCF.class file from opencard.org.
2.run the installOCF like (java installOCF)
3.installation is begin but it shows me an error i.e. Error Creating Class files.
4.After completion of installation i have to load the proerties in the system. OCF provides me an java file to load the properties. the file name is OpenCardPropertyFileLoader.java.But it is a java file and when m going to compile this file, the compiler show me lots of error.
how can i load the properties on to the system if this file is not compiled.
what should i do to create class file while installation.
Thanx in advance
Varun Arora

Why are you compiling it ?
The .class is already in the base-opt.jar file.
It loads the opencard.properties file and merges it with the system properties. Look at the OpenCardPropertyFile.html file that comes with OCF.

It's possible you damaged the print cartridge when you refilled it. Install a new HP Print cartridge in the unit to see if that solves the issue.

• Installed OCFS.... then GRUB freezes

Hi,
I am trying to add a node to our existing Oracle10g RAC environment.
New Node is a Dell Blade Server
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3
Kernel is: 2.4.21-20.ELsmp
I installed the following rpm packages this morning:
ocfs-2.4.21-EL-smp-1.0.13-1.i686.rpm
ocfs-support-1.1.5-1.i386.rpm
ocfs-tools-1.0.10-1.i386.rpm
No problems there.
Then, I used ocfstool to create that config file.
No problem there.
Then I decided to reboot the server... and it hangs at GRUB....
I don't even get the list of kernels to pick from.. just hangs.
Has this happened to anyone before? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

use the first redhat installation disk.
reinstall grub.
maybe grub is damaged

• RAC/OCFS on RH AS - Dell Platform

Hi all,
We have been trying to no avail to install RAC using Oracle OCFS on a Dell cluster using RedHat Advanced server. Per Oracle's (and a few other users who have it working) instructions, we have installed OCFS and have it running, Installed Oracle 9.2.0.1, applied patch 2444403. However, whenever we try to run "srvconfig -init" against a pre-created configuration file (touch), we still get the following error:
[main] [8:54:54:499] [OCRTree.<init>:80] OCR Initialization failed for othan than INVALID_FORMAT error
oracle.ops.mgmt.rawdevice.RawDeviceException: PRKR-1064 : General Exception in OCR
at oracle.ops.mgmt.rawdevice.RawDeviceUtil.<init>(RawDeviceUtil.java:136)
at oracle.ops.mgmt.rawdevice.RawDeviceUtil.main(RawDeviceUtil.java:2071)
The configuration file is on an OCFS filesystem. Should it be raw, or should it work on an OCFS filesystem?
Anyone else have success in getting OCFS with Oracle RAC running?

Were you ever able to resolve the problem? I've tracked the error down to the "libsrvmocr" library, where the "ocr.o" binary seems to live. Apparently, the darned thing is blowing up on multiple platforms. Bugs #2594548 and #2512977 indicate very simular failures on HP and TRU64 (Digital) systems.
I started with a shared (ocfs) file, then switched to raw, but had the same problem in either case.
Has anybody resolved this issue once it has been encountered? I've tried using "-DTRACING.ENABLED=true -DTRACING.LEVEL=2 " when calling gsd, but that hasn't eliminated the error. I've also tried remaking the library file using the local ".mk" file, but that didn't fix it either.

• OCFS disk activity?

Hello all,
I have recently installed OCFS on a small RedHat Advanced Server Cluster. I installed the new ocfs-2.4.9-e.3-smp-1.0-2.i686.rpm and the corresponding support and tools rpms. The OS is the standard RedHat AS2.1 with no modifications except a new adaptec kernel module. The two nodes are attached to a two disk UW SCSI array. The install went great, both machines see the disks, no read/write errors logged by the kernel.
Ok to the problem....
When mounting the new ocfs partitions, 3 partitions per shared drive, I get what seems to be a constant probing of the shared scsi disks. Once all of the partitions are mounted the probing gets to be almost constant. The disks seem to be doing resets or something to that effect, lots of clicks etc...
In doing more testing I have come to figure out that the activity only starts when two or more partitions from a single disk are mounted to a system. In other words if only one partition from the disk is mounted, on one or both of the nodes in the cluster there is no activity. But as soon as you mount the next partition from the same disk the activity starts.
In looking through the kernel logs etc I see no indications of errors. Am I simply seeing a normal polling of the disks or is there something else here? The only reason I even noticed was that the cluster just happens to be sitting under my desk, had it been in a machine room I would have never noticed.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!
Thanks,
Ryan

We're using a single-partition firewire drive to test ocfs on a two-node cluster. Each mount of the drive appears to initiate a heartbeat of some kind. Just a blink--blink--blink. Mounting the drive from two machines looks like blink-blink--blink-blink--blink-blink.
In your case, I'm guessing that the pattern looks like bbblink-bbblink--bbblink-bbblink--bbblink... I can imagine that it would appear to be almost continuous.
I plan on reading the ocfs source to learn what the driver is really trying to do. My guess is that the system is reading/writing some sort of permission or ownership field. I've also noted a heartbeat sized pause before a node can make the first access to a given ocfs block (but I did use 256K for the block-size).
Have you seen a similar pause or have you found access to be immediate?

• OCFS bug

I think that I've found a bug with OCFS. If you follow these 8 steps exactly, OCFS will lockup/hang until you remove the file from step 7. This happens reliably on our system (2 node cluster w/EMC CX400) ... can anyone confirm that the same bug happens on their (different) hardware as well?
1. install ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.9-12 and 1.0.9-12 tools
2. create a new filesystem
node1# mkfs.ocfs -b 128 -F -g 0 -L dc1:/u02 -m /u02 -p 755 -u 0 /dev/sdc
3. mount the fs
node1# mount /dev/sdc /u02 -t ocfs
4. make a subdir, change into it
node1# mkdir /u02/test
node1# cd /u02/test
5. fill the directory with 406 70M files
node1# /usr/bin/time -v /bin/sh -c '
for ((X=1; X \<= 406; X=((X + 1)) )); do
echo test$X.dbf;
dd if=/dev/zero of=./test$X.dbf bs=131072 count=560
done
6. mount the volume on THE OTHER NODE
node2# mount /dev/sdc /u02 -t ocfs
7. create a file in the test dir (from either node)
node2# /bin/echo test > /u02/test/file1
8. create a file in the test dir from the opposite node as step 7
node1# /bin/echo test > /u02/test/file2
step 8 causes my system to hang. if you try to "kill" the process (from another login), it will get stuck in a "D" disk wait state. if you go back to the first node and delete the first file you created then all hanging processes on the second node should resume. following these steps consistently generates the error on my system.

it still doesnt work with the correct chipsets... you can go to www.linux1394.org for details on ti chipset cards and firewire disks. lacie firewire disks advertise that they use the oxford chipset. some WD disks that are usb/firewire combos dont use the oxford chipset. if youve got firewire/raw working, you probably have the oxford chipset on the disk. it would be great if oracle would either fix the problem, or just tell everyone that this no longer works so people dont waste time on something that wont give them an env for rac/ocfs.

• OCFS console's probem.

I'm trying to install OCFS as to install RAC. After I install OCFS2, I tried to config with OCFS2CONSOLE, then I click at Cluster follow by configure node and I got this error
"Could no start cluster stack. This must be resolved before any OCFS2 file system can be mounted"
I don't know how to solve this problem.
Anyone can tell me?
Regards
Supasit

Is that the correct error message :-) ?
I suggest you copy and paste the original error message from the screen.
Meanwhile check the certification of OCFS2 with your OS and ensure you follow the correct procedure in the documentation

• 10g RAC on VMWare Workstation

Hi Folks,
i tried to install 10g RAC on VMWare 4.5.2 for testing.
Hostsystem is XP, ghost system are RedHat-ES-30.
I configured tho 2 nodes with 2 scsi adapters and 2 Network Card and a shared Disk.
I installed ocfs 1.0.12 on both nodes, formated the disk and it seems to be fine.
On the next step ( Installation of CRS ) the runInstaller fails after the node configuration screen with the message:
Oracle Cluster Registry File can only be saved on a shared filesystem file or on a RAW Device.
Any Ideas ?
Thanks
Martin

Hi Laurent,
Thanks for your reply.
I checked that and i can't find the Processes or any think else witch is discribed in thr article !
The Installer pops a message during the creation of the ocr file.
Have any body tried it with RAW Devices ?

• How to upgrdae Oracle Cluster on Red Hat Linux 3 to Red hat Linux 4 AS U 7

We need to upgrade our Clustered (2 Nodes) Oracle Database environment on Linux environment to Red Hat 4 AS 7. The current OS version is Red Hat 3 update 6. We use EMC SAN Storage as shared storage (OCFS and Raw Devices) for our 9i and 10g databases
Question: We will install (on local disks) Red Hat 4 AS Update 7 and then install ocfs and ASMlib RPMs. Is there any risk of loosing the existing (on Red Hat 3 update 6) ocfs file systems and raw devices (from EMC SAN Storgae) after we do fresh install of OS and ocfs and ASMlib RPMs? How can we keep the shared storage data quickly available (without restore from the backup) to the system after installing Red Hat 4 AS Update 7 and mentioned RPMs?

when i give "java installOCF" the class file downloaded from Opencard.org
it gives Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: installOCF

Installing the Oracle 11g R1 CRS on windows server 2008 operating system . It is displaying the folllowing error message
ERROR : OS in Error in starting the OCFS Service
Can any one please tell what could be the issue ..

Solved this after some trawling through xml configuration files on the server.
The file C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\owb\j2ee\config\http-web-site.xml contains the reference to keystore.jks:
<ssl-config keystore="*%ORACLE_HOME%*/owb/j2ee/config/keystore.jks" keystore-password="->keystoreadmin"/>
changing this to:
<ssl-config keystore="C:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1/owb/j2ee/config/keystore.jks" keystore-password="->keystoreadmin"/>
