Hello,
You can make use of response file to install oracle software silent mode or non-interactive. You can find a reponse file under ../response/enterprise.rsp
You can find detailed information about using reponse file and how to install in non-interactive method

Installing oracle 10g release 2 on spark solaris!! urgent help!
hi guys!
Am installing oracle 10g r2 on spark sun solaris. I did install the software without any pb, but when installing the database using dbca, I have this errors.
ORA-27154: post/wait create failed
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation:semget failed with status: 28
ORA-27301: OS failure message: No space left on device
ORA-27302: failure occurred at: sskgpcreates
Edited my kernel parameters and in the /etc/system file, ai've added
set noexec_user_stack=1
set semsys:seminfo_semmni=100
set semsys:seminfo_semmns=1024
set semsys:seminfo_semmsl=256
set semsys:seminfo_semvmx=32767
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=10
Space aint an issue and dont know how to over come this error!
Should ai just install the db using scripts and run the neccessary .sql scripts instead of going through dbca?
junior DBA in distress. This appears to be because of low semaphores setting. Did you reboot your server after making the /etc/system parameter changes ?

also before you do what is suggested on the url posted by Mufalani,
it seems that you should do the following:
Check existence of udev raw mapping rule file /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules
On RH/EL5, udev raw mapping rule file /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules should exist by default as part of the util-linux package, for example:
# ls /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules
/etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rulesCreate a custom udev raw mapping rule file, /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules say, for example:
# touch /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules3b. Add udev raw binding rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules file
Add the udev raw binding rules to the /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules file, for example:
# cat /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules
# Raw bind to Oracle Clusterware devices
ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd*", PROGRAM=="/sbin/scsi_id", RESULT=="360a98000686f6959684a453333524174", RUN+="/bin/raw /dev/raw/raw1 %N"
ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd*", PROGRAM=="/sbin/scsi_id", RESULT=="360a98000686f6959684a453333524179", RUN+="/bin/raw /dev/raw/raw2 %N"If migrating to RHEL5/OEL5 from an earlier Linux version that relied on /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices file for persistent raw device bindings, the following script can be used as a basis for generating your RHEL5/OEL5 udev rules. Note, the script does not factor device name persistency.
#!/bin/bash
grep -v "^ *#" /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices | grep -v "^$" | while read dev major minor ; do
if [ -z "$minor" ]; then
echo "ACTION==\"add\", KERNEL==\"${major##/dev/}\", RUN+=\"/bin/raw $dev %N\""
else
echo "ACTION==\"add\", ENV{MAJOR}==\"$major\", ENV{MINOR}==\"$minor\", RUN+=\"/bin/raw $dev %M %m\""

Solaris 10 x86 5.10 cannot install Oracle 10g (needs 5.9 or less!)
I installed the latest Solaris 10 x86 rev 5.10 and then downloaded the "New" Oracle 10g for Solaris x86 oddly but not suprisingly the "New" Oracle 10g only installs on Solaris 10 x86 5.6, 5.7, 5.8, 5.9 GO FIGURE.
Seem there should be a way to fake out the software to see a different version.
Anybody know how to do this?
thanks

Oracle 10g install on Solaris 10 workaround
Quick work around for installing Oracle 10g on Solaris 10 (in our case on a v20z).
After creating your staging area you run the Oracle installer and get an error similar to the following
$ ./runInstaller

Checking installer requirements...
Checking operating system version: must be 5.6, 5.7, 5.8 or 5.9. Actual 5.10

To work around this you need to edit the oraparam.ini file, in our case this is /export/ora/Disk1/install/oraparam.ini.
Edit the section

[Solaris] rebooting in installing Oracle 10g R2 after Clusterware install
Hi..
Currently I am practicing the configuration of Oracle 10g R2 RAC (Solaris x86-64) with a Clusterware 10g on VMware
With the installation of Oracle Clusterware 10g software, there's no problem and look like working well on both nodes.
But, whenever I try installing the Oracle 10g R2 with 'install the software only' option, I got unstoppable rebooting
problem on the first node, rac1.
I tried both installation mode: OUI-typed and Silent approaches. Nothing worked!!
I wanted to figure out why this problem happened, but so far I did not have any bright answer for this. I looked in
the log and error files from /u01/app/oracle/oraInventory/logs, but there's no good answer or hint to resolve the
problem I have now.
Until now I tried 4 times of installations, but all stopped and were automatically rebooted at the same point with
almost 3% copying of software. I found some of trainers are having same problem I have now.
oracle@rac1 ~ $ crs_stat -t
Name Type Target State Host
ora.rac1.gsd application ONLINE ONLINE rac1
ora.rac1.ons application ONLINE ONLINE rac1
ora.rac1.vip application ONLINE ONLINE rac1
ora.rac2.gsd application ONLINE ONLINE rac2
ora.rac2.ons application ONLINE ONLINE rac2
ora.rac2.vip application ONLINE ONLINE rac2
This happens whenever I install the Oracle 10g R2 software.
Is there any unknown or hidden problem regarding CRS or something else?
Anybody has some hints or solution to this problem? If so, please let me have it ASAP.
Thank you so much.I have gone through similar problem when installing oracle 10g in linux. You should follow the oracle installation documentation and make sure that all required OS patches and packages must be installed before starting the oracle installation. In my installation few OS packages was missing in the oracle documentation too and searching over the net solved the problem. I have installed few extra OS packages (RPM) and installed oracle successfully.

i am planning to buy macbook pro,as i am working as a oracle developer,so i want to ask will i be able to install oracle 10G or above versions on my mac...??
did you get a satisfactory response on your question re oracle 10g on os x snow leopard? I am curious as I have been 'struggling' with it for a few days now. To my experience thusfar, the oracle files provided are not up to date with current java versions or os x leopard and require some tweaking. my own answer to your question is that it does appear that you can install and run oracle 10g on mac os x snow leopard, but it seems to be a little hacky to get through it all. Some information here, other information there, haven't yet found a single source that has all the play by play and gotcha fixes documented. I am rsisting nuking my debian install on amd64 just to put fedoracore which does appear to be a supported env for oracle 10 on linux.

Plz find some solution for the above problem.Hi
Here's the resolution that can work for you:
Disable the "Print Spooler" service before running the installer.
1.Open Control Panel: Start --> Settings --> Control Panel
2.Double-click "Services"
3.On the list of NT Services, right-click "Print Spooler"
4.Select "Stop"
5.Select "Properties"
6.Under Startup Type, select "manual" or "disabled"
7.Reboot your NT Server
8.After rebooting, verify that the Print Spooler is still "stopped".
9.Delete Program Files\Common Files\Installshield\Engine folder
10.Re-run the installer.
11.After installation, re-set the Print Spooler service to Startup type "Automatic" and start the service.
Also, have a look at the installshield page: http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108167

Error message when installing Oracle 10g on Windows XP Professional
Hello,
I need help installing oracle 10g database. When I attempt to run the installation from the setup.exe icon, I get a message that says
"Error in writing to directory C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\OraInstall2007-04-29_01-19-29PM. Please ensure this directory is writable and has atleast 45Mb of disk space. Installation cannot continue."
When I try to open the installation from the Autorun icon, it points to an innability to find setup.exe and when I go back to Setup.exe, it gives me the above error. Everytime I try to run the installation and it fails, the installation leaves a folder in my Temp folder with the above format. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.I do have administrative privilege on my computer and I have plenty of space. I have 80gb of free space. What do I do to successfully install the software without incurring those messages I displayed in my first thread?

Repeated ORA-12547 Messages after installing Oracle 10g
Hi,
I installed Oracle 10g on a Redhat ES 3 box, and the install went okay, but when I try and interact with the server I get the message:
ORA-12547: TNS: lost contact
For example, if I use the Database Configuration Assistant to attempt to create a database, I will see the above message when it begins the database creation process, or if I try to interact with the Oracle server using sqlplus I will see the above message after each command entered.
I had recently tried to install Oracle 8.1.7 on the same box, but abandoned that after deciding that the effort required to link Oracle 8 on RHES3 just wasn't worth it. I have been told that this previous partial installation may be the cause of the problem, and have been advised to uninstall Oracle 8, uninstall Oracle 10g, and reinstall Oracle 10g. I find it hard to believe that it would require such an action to solve this problem. Is there any configuration changes I can make to resolve it? Also, what does this message actually mean?
I am new to Oracle, so thanks for any help with this problem.

How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster
Dear all:
please advice How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster service ..
thanks ,,Without RAC, you can only have one instance manage the database. One instance = one set of processes communicating via IPC.
Unless you know of a way to have processes use memory-based IPC across nodes, you need to pick a node and install & run the database software on that node. -

Installing Oracle 10g release 2 on RHEL4
I am new with Linux and Oracle, and I have been assigned to install Oracle 10g Rel 2 in RHEL4 OS.
I have checked and installed missing RPM's and created group users, passwd, configered Kernel, set Shell limits and finally created directories on root as so,
mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle
chown -R oracle:oinstall/u01/app/oracle
chmod -R 775 /u01/app/oracle
After, I mount the CD on root
mount /media/cdrom
After mounting is complete i enter into oracle user and do the following
su - oracle
cd /media/cdrom
./runInstaller
However, I receive the following message : Olite installation requires ORACLE_HOME to be set. PLease set it and retry again.
So I set the following like so,
export ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle
export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle
export ORACLE_SID= demo1
./runInstaller
I than get the following message.
Olite installation requires JAVA13_HOME to be set. PLease set it JDK 1.4.1 install area and rety again.
I am not sure what JAVA13_HOME is but I am wondering if it is related to some Mobile sync. Also, could somebody help me and advise if I am going in the right direction here?
Many thanks in advance.
AlexHi Alex
Can you please control that ?
JAVA13_HOME will be the location for your JAVA home. You can check the path for your java installtion, either 1.3 or 1.4 and set the path accordingly. Usually in Linux the path will be some thing like /local/java/jdk1.4.2.
TNS_ADMIN should point to $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
Please read that also http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28928_01/doc/server.103/b28924/preinstall.htm
Let us know if it helps you.
thanks
