Installing Oracle9iAS 9.0.2.0.1 on SuSE 8.0

Hi,
I know that the combination mentioned above is not certified to work. Nevertheless I have to stick with this environment and hope you can help me to overcome the installation issues.
At the end of this post you will find some details about my current configuration, which might be useful to solve the problem.
During the installation of Oracle 9iAS Infrastructure 9.0.2.1 I received the following error message:
"Error in invoking target install of makefile
/opt/oracle/product/infra_902/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlplus.mk"
I tried to track down the problem:
$ cd /opt/oracle/product/infra_902/sqlplus/lib

Having taken a look into ins_sqlplus.mk I tried the following:
$ make -f env_sqlplus.mk
Output:

Portal is installed as part of the 9iAS install.
You can find the Installation Guide online at http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/. Choose the Documentation tab. Select your platform (Solaris, NT, etc.), and click HTML or PDF and you'll have the docs you need for installing 9lAS and Portal with default configuration.
For more info on custom configuring portal, go to http://technet.oracle.com/products/iportal/. There is a section on the page called Configure 9iAS Portal that has links to all the available configuration documentation.

Errors happened during installing Oracle9iAS

I got the gollowing error messages when I tried to install Oracle9iAS Enterprise Edition.
When: Copying B.lib
Error msg: A runtime exception occured during the execution of this query.
When: Copying EMWebSite.html
Error msg: The file D:\ORACLE\iAS\Apache\Apache\ports.ini is not found while looking for variable s_apachePort
When: Copying EMWebSite.html
Error msg: A runtime exception occured during the execution of this query.
Any idea?

Not able to see wireless in programs after installing Oracle9iAS Enterprice Edition

Hello Every one,
I have installed Oracle9iAS Enterprice Edition and able to create content areas and portlets. I want to make the portlets Wireless enable.
I configured all the required files in appropriate oracle homes, but not able to access wireless site.
I did not find the Wireless Edition in my programs.
Can any one help me?

U need to install the client seperatley. Once u install u will see portal-to-go unser oracle fow WindowsNT Option.

Error Installing Oracle9iAS-business Intelligence

I have installed Oracle Infrastructure on one machine successfully,I'm now trying to install Oracle9ias business Intelligence on another machine.After few initial stages,I'm getting this error:-
"An error occured when attempting to verify your host and port. Please verify your host and port values and that you can connect to this host, or enter new values. User Output Stringlist is : <hostname.domainname>*7777*Return value from SSO Running function is Invalid".
I have double checked the host name and port for SSO and it seems they are OK.
Can anyone help me with this? ,Pleaaase!!

Sounds like your infrastructure is either down or unreachable from this new machine. Try looking into this...

Installing Oracle9iAS Release 1 on RedHat9.0

Hi All,
Is there any step-by-step documentation for installing Oracle9iAS Release 1 on RedHat9.0 Linux machine.
I have gone through the Oracle Techn Docs but its not really working for me.
Any easy docs avaiable as Im very new to Linux.

I keep on seeing stuff like this and someone please explain it to me. Why are you using Red Hat 9.0?
1. It is not supported by Oracle to use that OS.
2. If you have a problem and need to open a tar, you will not get support.
3. You will likely run into problems that are unique to the OS.
4. If/when you actually use a supported OS, you may see different behaviour (like bugs) that you didn't see in Red Hat 9.0.

Problems Installing Designer 6.0 over Oracle 8i (Linux SUSE 8.0)

I have problems installing Designer 6.0 over Oracle 8i (Linux SUSE 8.0). When I try to create the repository the installation hang up. I try over Oracle 8i (WIndows 2000) and the problems remain.
Please any body can help?
Is it possible to install Designer 6i and generate forms 6.0 (I mean for using Developer 6.0 (NOT 6i))?

I had the same problem. Oracle gives as an answer that Designer 6.0 is not supported against 8.1.7. In the specified package a statement is issued which is a problem for 8.1.7. I changed that package and now it works fine.
Comment as below and replace with the delete statement, then it compiles fines.
I don't know if any problem can occur after that, but a Migration from a 1.3.2 repository to 6i works fine through this repository. Hope this helps.

Error on Installing Oracle9iAS Portal

I have the following error installing Portal 9i
"An unexpected error occurred during install process. Check the install.log located at <Oracle_Home>/assistants/opca for more datails."
So I went to the install.log and I found this log:
"PLS-00201: identifier 'owa_vpd_ctx.set_ctx' must be declared
error encountered in the install process. Installation aborted."
Please replay to me if you know what should I do. I have been trying to install the Portal 9i for a week without success. Thank you very much.

From a link i got the solution to that,edit the "genclntsh" file

but after editing and running the ./genclntsh... the same error coming...

Install Oracle9iAS Discoverer Release 1.0.2.4.1 with 8.1.7 Pers.

I'm trying to install Discoverer but Installer complains. When Oracle home set to OraHome81, this message comes up:
General Information
The location specified "C:\Oracle\ora81" is already used as an Oracle home for 'Oracle 817 Production'. It cannot be used as an Oracle home for 'nt'.
When I created a new Oracle home Disc41 and run Installer I get this message:
Error Information
Oracle Discoverer does not support multiple installations, and therefore cannot be installed on 'Disc41'. It can only be installed on 'Orahome81'. In order to install Oracle Discoverer, please run the Oracle Installer again, and select 'Orahome81' as the target location.
When I set Oracle home to OraDev6i (where I installed Developer) I get a similar error.
What do I need to do to get the product installed on Windows XP Pro., Dell Inspiron PIII, 512 MB Ram?

After looking at the installation notes, you aren't going to like this answer. Oracle does not certify installing Discover on the same server. Discoverer should be installed with Oracle Client and then using Net8, connect into the database on a different system (read server). Hope this helps,

I did a clean install with suse 8.0 . This is my configuration and basic installation steps.
Installed suse8 with pdksh (k shell, will not install by default )and Swap space 1GB
The hostname and IP adrress was in /etc/hosts file (Some shell scripts hardcode IP, Lot of problems when try to change IP address after installation)
Created iasdba group (didnt use the oracle user comes with suse)
Created ias user (made the home directory as /u1/ias , u1 is another mount point or can be a subdirectory under root )
logged in as ias user and set all env variables (created a shell script called set_ias_inf and put everything in it)
Install the infrastructure first (watch for the creation of genclntsh in $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory, as soon as it created from installation , made the following modification in the line starting with SYSLIBS, added the following line after -lc ,
-lgcc -L/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-suse-linux/2.95.3/
Installation completed and all required services started without any problem
To check did http://server:1810 and connect to em with ias_admin and passwd
stop the em from the suse box
emctl stop
Login as ias and created another shell script called set_ias_as (copied from the previous one and change the ORACLE_HOME to /u1/ias/90200/as for AS installation
Completed the AS installation with everything and did the same change as INF installation
Select the default character set
select the instance as instance2
Completed the installation
All services started successfully

Oracle9iAS install on suse 8.1

hi everybody
i'm trying to install Oracle9iAS on suse 8.1
i'm choosing the J2EE and Web Cache Instalation type
while the installation precceds just fine the linking phase of oracle 9i application server returns errors.here's what i get from the log :

i tried to install oracle database 9i 9.2.0.1.0 and it worked fine... could this help?

Oracle9iAS Infrastructure install

Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle9iAS Infrastrcuture on Red Hat 8.0. I know it is not certified but don't have a choice at this point but to give it a try. The install went fine till the DBCA part where it blew up with an ORA 1503 error in creating control file. I tried to resolve it, but have not succeeded. Does anyone know a work around ? Also how do we bring up the configuration assistant to install the components that have not installed fine. Just the ones that failed. Do we have to uninstall and do a full re-install. Thanks for ur help.

9iASR2 doesn't require a pre-installed DB (has a built-in 9i for Portal repository+OID = infrastructure). But maybe you already knew that ;)
To install R2 on a single PC:
- install infrastructure in its own home
- install 9iAS R2 in own its home
Beware of confusion (tnsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora) since you now have 3 different HOMEs. Also - please note that starting R2 on Win2K can be tricky since they need to be started an specific order (something not very clearly noted anywhere).
