Installing PDF reader failed at 96%
Hey all,
i have been trying to install PDF reader on Windows 7 and it is constantly stopping at 96% installation.i have removed previous versions of pdf reader and creator but nothing happened!! Need help please!!!
uninstall acrobat and reader if either are installed.
run the cleaner (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html);
install reader and test.

Install Adobe Reader fails; says I should check javascript but how do I do it?

I attempted to load Adobe Reader but it failed at the end, saying "There was an error installing Adobe Reader
[Error 1321. There was insufficient privileges to modify the file C\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\Reader11.0\Reader\Browser\nppdf32.dll]".
The trouble shooting site asked that I make sure that javaScript was enabled, saying that I should go to tools/options/Content Tab and make sure it is enabled. Well, no such tab with javaScript content exists. Maybe Firefox updated something. But I can't do this check, and - where did the javaScript enabled control go? Didn't bother to go further with trouble shooting since I couldn't satisfy this directive.
thankshi jhohn1190, this problem won't be related to javascript which is enabled in firefox by default - this would only apply if you're not able to download the setup file at all.
since the error message is referencing missing privileges, please try right-clicking and running the setup as administrator. in case this doesn't help, please contact adobe's support in order to get their product working. -

How can I change the default pdf reader from the installed (but not yet registered) Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to Adobe Reader XI? I'm having some hiccups getting Adobe to register the software, but since I set it as the default .pdf reader during setup, things try (and fail) to open in the as yet unregistered software. How can I change it temporariiy to the Acrobat Reader XI that I have installed?

I'd opened file with the 'Open with' feature then clicking Adobe Reader,
but that didn't do it. When I used 'Open with', then 'Choose default
program...', it worked like a charm.

Cannot delete or re-install adobe PDF reader on n9...
my PDF reader has stopped working for some reason but when i try to re-instal it from the download link in the phone, it says item open failed. i cannot see it listed in the App manager and when i click on the C to delete it from the menu, it says unable to delete?
any ideas how i can fix theis?

Nexu 5well its been sometime but i finally updated my firmware, the problem is, after reinstalling the backup, it seems to of created the fault again. its not being caused by the memory card as i cannot open the pdf app with it removed, so it has to be a buggy file i've installed to the phone memory? i've been through a lot of files using y-browser and deleted a lot of rubbish but i cannot find the problem? one thing i've found is i can open a pdf file if i navigate to it with y-browser and select open with the pdf app? i just cannot open it directly from the adobe pdf icon? does anyone know whats happened to the download link? i no longer can find it on the nokia site?

I installed Firefox 3.6. Since then, I am unable to open pdf documents in Firefox. I get a black page. I tried opening the same document in Internet Explorer. It worked fine. I recently installed Nuance's pdf reader and thought that might be the problem. Uninstalled it. Still have the problem with Firefox.

Every time Firefox openedHow about if you right click on the PDF and select Save Link As..., and then open it locally from within Reader? Does it work ok then? That might be a workaround until the issue within the browser is resolved.

When I try to open a download PDF I get message to install Adobe Reader. I do it and get the same message already installed. I close Safari and reopen but get same message to install Adobe
You don't provide any details, but from the sound of it you are trying to open an online PDF in a browser that does not use the Adobe Reader plugin: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

I am trying to install Adobe Reader my wife's laptop but "installer" hangs up and fails with a blank black screen. The machine is capable and has a Vista OS. My wife blames the machine and wants to "throw it out." She's an idiot but I need to get this fixed.

Adobe reader 11 installation fails. error message: there was an error installing adobe reader. adobe reader installation error. null. tried using adobe cleaning tool. using XP sp3. seems that adobe 11 is not completely uninstalling. this is because when adobe reader 11 is removed from add/remove program. when pc is rebooted, adobe reader 11 entry comes back but it is like false entry as no size given. please help to succesfully install Adobe Reader 11. also tried:

The MSI installers are usually used in corporate environments to roll out installs on multiple machines. However, you can use it like a normal (EXE) installer; it will just go through fewer steps than the EXE. Not sure if it will improve the situation, but it's worth a try.
Another thing to try is to uninstall these remaining entries using Microsoft Fixit: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall - also no guarantee, but also worth trying. -

How to find out?The best way would be to find and query the AcroRd32.exe executable. The file version information is stored in the executable itself.
There are lots of places in the registry that you could also potentially access relevant information.
For example the uninstall string:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Contains a string that you could use to search for the application version.
How you would do this in .NET I'm not sure but you would use some kind of text search command to search for the relevant text and then use "if exists" condition. -

I have re-installed Adobe Reader on to my Windows 7 PC. When I open a PDF I was getting an error message containing . . . .Acrord32.exe
I now cannot open any PDF's and Adobe seems unresponsive. I have tried to follow a step by step guide on how to fix this but Adobe won't stay open long enough for me to complete the steps. When I open Adobe it stays open for a matter of seconds then minimises to the task bar and when I click on it again I can't do anything with it and have to close it via task manager
Please help!?Disabling Protected Mode should fix the problem. But since you cannot even open Adobe Reader by itself, you need to do it via the Windows registry. If you tell me your installed Reader version, I can give you a registry script to do that.

After installing Adobe Reader XI 11.0.09 on my Windows 7 x64 operating system, I attempted to print and existing pdf document to my Brothers MFC-J4510DW printer I received error message indicating that no pages where selected (I selected print all pages).

For printing both sides, you might also need to enable 'printing on both sides' option in Reader print dialog box.
Please do the same and then print your PDF.
