Installing Reader 9.0 causes Crystal SoundFusion installer to run (and hang)

Trying to install Reader 9.0, XP Pro. Installation of Reader gets to 99.9%, then "Crystal SoundFusion Setup" install program fires up. I haven't the slightest what Crystal SoundFusion is, but I click "Next" to let it install, then my CPU goes to 90% (and will stay there for hours if I let it) and I get an indefinite "Please wait..." message from the installer. Only way to stop it is to kill the CRYSETUP.EXE process. After that, Reader 9.0 is not installed.
Ideas?
Thanks

Thank you Pat for you assistance. With some fear of exposing myself to ridicule, or at least providing a laugh to some out there, I need to explain what happened. I have been in the IT world since the early 60's,I actually had an ARPANet account. With a long background in computers I tend to accept instructions on problem fixing literally. I made a rookie mistake by taking instructions too literally.
The program msicuu.exe is not the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, it is the installer for the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. I had assumed for some time that when I ran msicuu.exe it installed and ran the cleanup utility. It finally dawned on me today that it was not running the cleanup, only installing it. When I actually ran the Windows Install Cleanup from the Start Menu it cleared the problem.
I hope this is some help to any others that made the same mistake.

  • Install demo of CS4 Web Premium-Photoshop Installs 64 bit and x86 versions but 64 bit does not work

Just installed the CS4 Web Premium demo onto a brand new 64 bit i7 processor with Windows Seven Home Premium machine with 9gb memory. The install seems to be fine except it installed a 64 bit version as well as x86 version into different folders. The x86 version works fine but the 64 bit version does not.
Every time I try to open a file using "Open With' I get the following message "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."
First of all why does it install both versions and why does it try to open everything in the 64bit version even after specifically telling it to open in the x86 version (even after setting the default file association to the x86 version.
I would of course like to use the 64 bit veriosn but if it not going to work. I'll use the 32 bit version. I just wantto be able to right click my mouse and be able to "Open With". I can open Photoshop 32 bit and open the file that way but it is a pain to do that way.
    Any help would be appreciated

Both are installed to allow you to use 32 bit plugins. As for the problem, you'll get far more attention in the Photoshop forum.

  • Trying to update to iTunes 10.4.1 and I get a message "A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:|Windows|Installer|iTunes.msi"  Running WIndows 7 with all updates done.  I  have never had an issue with iTunes updating before.  Anyo

iTunes has tried to update itself and runs into an error and tells me to manually install.  When I d/l and run the iTunesSetup.exe file I always encounter the following error message...

Anyone know what is creating this error message?  Thanks for the help...

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Error 1335 when trying to install Reader 9.3.4 on fresh xp installation

    Hi,
I keep getting an Error 1335 The Cabinet file Data1.cab required for this installation is corrupt etc.  Im trying to install on XP SP3 with a fresh installation of xp.  I've tried Firefox and IE8 with the Adobe download manager and I've also tried a manual download.  Everytime I get the same message.
I need to mention too that the download page is less its css etc - so just seeing text and links if thats any help towards this problem.
Could someone offer a fix please?
    thanks in advance
    Gill

well that was interesting - inside the Adobe REader 9 installer which was left on my desktop from a manual attempt to install it, is a folder Reader 9, so i opened that and successfully installed Adobe Reader 9.3.0.  using AcroRead installer.  With that installer are 3 update patches - non of which will install.
So having succesfully installed AR 9.3.0, i then ran update from inside the program insterface and ................. voilla!!! it updated!! to Reader 9.3.4!!
Soo seems there is a problem with the files at manual download and using the download manager.
Hope this helps anyone else suffering the same problem.
    Cheers

Download the offline installer from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1195540 and save it to disk.
In order to make sure that no previous installer is running, restart your computer, then run the downloaded installer.

  • Suspicious behaviour: Does installing Adobe Reader also installs Google Toolbar and Chrome?

Adobe staff, please confirm this behaviour...
Yesterday I downloaded Adobe Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ for my freshly installed Windows 7
    computer.
While installing Adobe Reader, the app also automagically installed Google Toolbar on my IE and Chrome on my computer.
While I have nothing against having a Google Toolbar or Chrome, the sneaky way they are installed bothers me...
That's the kind of thing that malware and spyware would do... not Adobe!
So can someone from Adobe please confirm that this is the behaviour of Adobe Reader? I'm beginning to get a bit concerned.
By the way, I did not see any opt-out box?
If there was one, then it's so well-hidden that I missed it!
    Thanks.

"If you cared to Google, there has been numerous instances where users have complained that
    bundled software were installed either:
    1) Without their permission
    2) The opt-out tickbox is unobvious to the user because of the form's vague design"
    Without their permission??? Unobvious???
    Are you serious?
    Are you HIGH?
    Are you that naive?
See the screen shot. There is a box to uncheck if you DON'T want the Google software. I've been in these forums (Reader, Acrobat, Flash Player, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks) since 2004 and have been fixing other people's computers since 2002. One of the STUPIDEST THINGS I've ever heard in all that time is "I don't have time to uncheck a box"...
from people who then have the time to:
investigate what installed that they DIDN'T uncheck thebox for...
research exactly where it came from...
    then they come here...
set up an Adobe ID and log into the forum...
search for the right forum to post in...
and then proceed to spew out a lengthy verbose and intricate account of how they "got hijacked" by software they didn't have less than half a second to prevent installing by... wait for it... unchecking a little box WITH A SINGLE MOUSE CLICK.
I understand you're ticked off because you made a dumb mistake and I'm really sorry you feel that you were "taken advantage of" and had software installed without your permission after you FAILED to choose NOT to install it. But if you plan to continue using computers let me give you a piece of advice...
If you haven't read it... and I mean REALLY read it... DON'T click it.

  • Is it possible instal  reader xi without print and spool service installation in the O.S

Is there a way to instal reader xi in a custom made  Windows 8.1 pro update.2. august 16' without the printer en spool service.
it isn't possible activate this service. This services isn't part of the O.S.
We only use a Bluetooth printing system.
    regards,
    Mas

I wonder why you are asking. Have you experienced specific problems installing Reader having removed (for some reason) these system components? Generally, though, if you remove system components and something doesn't run your only option is to put them back.

  • Installing Adobe Photoshop Elements Causes My Computer to Cut Out on Booting UP!

I have installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 on my new computer running windows 7 64 bit. I did not appreciate the problems. The first time that I installed it the computer shut down as soon as it was loaded and from then onwards it shut down within seconds of the computer booting up into windows. I used system restore to take the computer back to before Elements 10 was installed. The computer kept on switching off after windows had booted up. Took it into the technician who thought the PSU was at fault and he put in a new unit. The computer then worked fine until I installed Elements 10 and again the computer switches off as soon as windows as booted up. I have again used system restore to take the computer back to before Elements 10 was installed, still it switches off shortly after booting into windows. What can I do to get things to work properly?  I have a brand new computer that I am unable to use as a result of installing Elements 10. I am typing this on my old computer running Vista 34 bit with Elements 10 installed and all working well. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I have had a similar experience - Elements organizer crashed and even when not running, my computer froze after a few minutes.  My PC had never crashed before this installation.
    I found a solution though...
After a little sleuthing using task manager, I found that all the memory in my system (4GB) gets suddenly hogged (within seconds) by the "Elements Organizer" process (3GB) ... I found the service correspponding to this process, "Adobe Active File Monitor v10", stopped it and set autostart to manual.  My PC no longer crashes.
I think Adobe needs to look into this one - it has all the hallmarks of a nasty memory leak.
A couple of possible clues as to why certain systems don't take well to this service:
    - I have a few very large video clips (2hours+) on my PC
    - I installed trial products like light room, CS5 before settling on Photoshop+Premiere Elements - could leftovers after uninstalling cause conflicts?
    - I have other video editors on my system that I don't use, like Corel VideoStudio and Sony Vegas.
    Thoughts?
