Installing the VIM Pack from sunfreeware
Has anybody had issues with this package inside zones?
Everything works like a charm, but since this is installed in the /usr/local directory structure no users other than root can access the vim editor. Anybody know a way around this?
Edited by: smsulliva on Sep 20, 2007 9:37 PM
Please delete! I put in the incorrect forum.
There isn't a problem I just need to chmod /usr/local in the global zone to 755 permissions.

I cannot install the language pack CDs for Rosetta Stone.
I'm trying to install the language packs of my Rosetta Stone package. The application CD installed ok, and it is running. You need to then install the language CD from inside that application. When I "add language CD", I get the error "You must have administrative permissions to use this feature." I've set all permissions for all groups the "read & write" on both the Rosetta Stone app file and the content folders. I've called Rosetta Stone and they tell me this is an Apple problem. Help please! I'm getting really, really frustrated with this!
I'm on an iMac, OS X 10.9.5
Thanks.Frank,
so, I did search for the directory Language Training - it doesn't exist on my system. As an experiment, I manually added the directory and gave it read/write permissions. Rosetta still couldn't install the language CD. I've cut and pasted the permissions below of the Rosetta Stone directory as well as the bin directory. I wonder if I'm having this problem because I'm trying to install Rosetta Stone Version 3? That is the latest version that allows for homeschooling.

Hi
I have a new 21 inch imac oct 2011 version. I installed bootcamp and windows xp on my machine and i also installed parallels 6.
Paralleles works great and i can open any program with it. But bootcamp also works EXCEPT it refuses to give me access to the internet. I installed the bootcamp drivers from my snow leopard disk, it did not make a difference. All the drivers installed but still no internet. I then installed the bootcamp drivers from the gray mac osx disk (#1) but it stopped installing with an error number ( 2753) and it said that the package was damaged.
I have tried everything; i opened each disk and trieed installing the files separately. Nothing.
What i see missing in my devices screen in XP is the network adapter.
I have a router (dlink-dr615) and it is connected by ethernet to my imac. I wonder if THIS might have anything to do with the problem. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Thank youI'd recommend reposting in the Boot Camp forum, that is where the Boot Camp and Windows gurus hang out.
Good luck. -
Installing the factory image from linux
Currently I have Cianogenmod, since I'm getting tired of it, I want
to go back to the factory image, if possible the lollipop one directly.
I tried the emma tool, but I'm behind a very ugly firewall and it
couldn't connect to the internet.
How can I download and install the factory image from linux
using adb and fastboot?I don't think sony provides fastboot flashable images.
Now you're left with these tools.
Official > There's just PC Companion ( locked bootloaders) and EMMA ( For unlocked bootloaders)
Unofficial > Flashtool
You should use emma from other internet connection and PC.
I don't think there's another way

Getting the mangement pack from an alert via C#
Hello all,
I have created a custom c# service that processes scom alerts to be able to integrate with our custom problem management system. I can filter on any alert property but now i need to add functionality to filter on management pack for which the rule or monitor
created an alert.
Powershell code is easy to find but c# examples to get the management pack from which the alert eminates is not to be found on the net. I also found the following PS code but the monitoringclassid on the alert is deprecated now. What should i use instead?
$alert=Get-Alert -Id 'YOUR_GUID_FROM_SUBSCRIPTION'
$class=Get-MonitoringClass -Id $alert.MonitoringClassId
$MP=$class.GetManagementPack()
Do any of you here have any experience in coding this sort of functionality? Can any of you help me out?
Regards,
NathanThis is the eventual c# code:
ManagementPackClass
mclass =
AlertProcessing.mgGroup.EntityTypes.GetClass(alert.ClassId);
mclass.GetManagementPack().Name; -

TomThat is a problem with an extension that tries to install a search bar. The tnt2toolbar should give you a clue about which extension. You didn't add troubleshooting information with the list of installed extensions, so I can't give a suggestion about which extension is causing this.

Hi there.
Have an iphone 3G and wen to install the Facebook app from the app store. Wen I selected install app, it said that the iphone requires IOS 4.3.
I then plugged the phone into itunes and it said the phone was up to date (IOS 4.2.2 I think it said?). How can i install these apps, the same happened and other apps i tried to install. Any advice would be much apprecaitedUnfortunately there is nothing that you can do and you CAN'T install these apps becuse your phone is too old. A 3G cannot be updated beyond iOS 4.2, which is the most it can support and these apps need iOS 4.3 or above to be installed and there are no versions of these apps available.
Developers have to place a cut off somewhere and keep developing for the most recent software that does not now include the 3G.
If you want to install these apps on your phone, then you will have to upgrade to either an iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, 4s or 5. That is all you can do because you won't be able to download these apps on an iPhone 3G - just not possible any longer. -
Im installing the LP8 update from 7.2 and dont have my serial
im installing the LP8 update from 7.2 and dont have my serial, but i have the usb key and the box, but cant find the serial number to do the update does anyone know where i can get it? please support.
What a pity. The update comes with the manuals and the install guide. The serial number is printed on the sticker of the install/license guide. For install you need the L7 USB-key and the L8 serial number. If it did not come with the serial number or if you have lost it you have to contact apple.

I installed logic studio 9 but it says error when i install the jam pack content
The apple site says that logic 9 comes with six jam packs, but I only see 2 in the tab entitled "library." These are Jam Pack Voices and Jam Pack World Music and when I only put any of the jam pack Content Cd's (that come with logic studio) and click on the cd all it has on it is a text edit file. Is it a corrupted cd? I have seen other posts about it but no definite solution. any possible ideas? Thank You!
Hi
Something is not quite right here:
I have the original Studio 2 disks here, and the installer runs fine under OSX.8.3. It will install Logic Pro 9.0.0, which can then be updated by downloading the 9.1.7 or 9.1.8 updater from Apple Downloads.
On your system, the installer refuses to run, or does the install proceed, but you are unable to update Logic so that it will work on Mountain Lion?

Attn: Installing the Sample Applications from the ifs Development Kit
There are a number of problems with the sample Applications included in the
Developer's kit. These need to manually fixed in order to get the demos to work.
#1: Solaris Only
The install of the iFS Development Kit, replaces the existing adk.jar with a new
one containing some additional classes. Unfortunately the install process does not
set the correct privileges on the new version of adk.jar. Please ensure that the
file $ORACLE_HOME/ifs/lib/adk.jar is world readable.
Bug # 1304730
This issue will be resolved on the next drop of the Oracle Internet File System
development kit.
#2: Generic
There is a problem with the way in which the login.jsp establishes a connection to
the repository. The current code makes incorrect assumptions about the name of the
iFS Service and the schema password.
The following changes are required.
In order to connect to the repository 4 pieces of information are required.
1. The iFS User Name
2. The iFS User's password
3. The properties file to be used
4. The database password of the user who owns the iFS Schema
The Login.jsp needs to be altered so that it requests these four arguments before
attempting to establish a connection to the repository.
(The current version only requests username and password).
All four arguments need to be provided as arguments to the login method on the
underlying JavaBean that the JSP invokes when it want to open a connection
to the repository.

#3. Making the BaseRendererClass available to the Protocol Servers
Note this step is not required if you have the 1.0.8.3 patch set installed.
Install the BaseRenderer Class. The BaseRenderer class is delivered in the jar file
ifsdevkit.jar and can be used to simplify the task of creating a custom renderer.
Unfortunately the jar file containing this class is not referenced in any of the Classpaths
used by the iFS protocol servers. This means that they will not be able to load any
customer renderers that extend BaseRenderer. In order to make BaseRenderer available
to the Protocol Servers it need to be placed in the appropriate directory under
<ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/custom_classes.
Extract the class from the ifsdevkit.jar.
ifsdevkit.jar is located in <ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/lib after the devkit has been installed.
jar -xvf ifsdevkit.jar
extracted: META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
extracted: BaseRenderer.class
Create the following directory heirachy in <ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/custom classes
oracle/ifs/server/renderers
Copy <ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/lib/BaseRenderer.class to
<ORACLE_HOME/ifs/custom_classes/oracle/ifs/server/renderers
That should do it.

How can I install the Dreamweaver 8 from my CS2 Creative suite?
When I originally installed my Adobe programs for CS2 about 5 years ago, I did not at that time install the dreamweaver from the CD. Now I'm trying to download it, but it will not accept the serial number from the suite (Dreamweaver 8 was still from Macromedia back then, but was part of the Suite) so I am unable to activate the program.I'm using hp pavillion a 1430n w Windows XP-Media Center edition. My Serial number is a series of 6 four digit numbers. The activation site will not accept nearly that many numbers, nor does it accept them in four digit combinations. Any suggestions ?
If the serial number from the CS2 Premium suite is not working with the install, there is not much you can do at this point. You can try to uninstall the whole suite and this time install all of the applications at once. But you then risk the other applications.
Your only other option is to pay the upgrade from CS2 to CS4. Adobe, unlike Macromedia, does not restrict educational users from upgrading. All they ask is that you pay the full retail upgrade price and they will allow you to have your license converted from a student license to a commercial license that will allow you to keep upgrading. Or if you are still a student, you can opt to buy the new student release.
Based on what I was able to look up online about your system, it meets the requirements for CS4 as long as you have upgraded to SP2/3 of XP. -
How do I install the Leopard OS from a clone backup?
I just bought a WD 160GB My Passport Essential (USB) external hard drive.
My goal is to partition the external hard drive so it holds the following:
1. clone of the Leopard OS disks
2. Leopard OS installed from the clone
3. Time Machine backups
I formatted the external hard drive to a HFS extended (journaled) format and created 3 partitions, each as a GUID disk.
My Macbook is intel based and came with 2 Leopard OS install disks (Macbook OS X Install Disk 1 and Macbook OS X Install Disk 2).
I was able to create a clone of the 2 install disks and restored both images onto the external hard drive partition I named "Leopard OS Disk Clone."
I rebooted my back so it boot from the "Leopard OS Disk Clone" partition located on my external hard drive, to test the clone out. I clicked on the "Install Mac OS and Bundled Software" file on the "Leopard OS Disk Clone" partition and started to install the OS on the "Leopard OS" partition on the external hard drive.
During the installation a message appeared instructing me to put the Mac OS Install Disk 2 into the mac.
My problem is Install Disk 2 is on the "Leopard OS Disk Clone" partition and there is no way to tell the installer program the location of disk 2.
How do I install the Leopard OS on my external hard drive partition if both Install Disk 1 and Install Disk 2 are on my "Leopard OS Disk Clone" partition?
Thanks in advance for your help!I'm no expert, but I don't think you can do that.
Everything I've done (not a whole lot) and read here says you make a bootable clone from a running system (usually your internal HD).
You can then boot directly from the clone, either by changing the Startup Disk in System Preferences, or by holding a particular key (I forget which one just now) while powering-up, to get the option of booting from any connected bootable volume found.
Hopefully one of the experts will confirm or deny (I'd like to know for sure, too!). -
Installing the Classic enviorment from retail OS 9 CD
Can anyone tell me how exactly I install the classic enviorment after I have installed OS 10.3?
You will need an OS 9.1 or higher bootable installer disc. Boot from that installer and install OS 9 (be sure not to allow the installer to erase the drive.)
