Installing XDK

I have tried to install XDK 9.0.1.2.0 I ran loadjava for xmlparserv2.jar and xmlparser.jar. Then in sqlplus I ran scripts xmlload, xdkpkg, xdksyn.
When I run xsutest through sqlplus I get the following error
ora - 29540 class oracle/xml/sql/query/OracleXMLStaticQuery does not exist.
What did I do wrong, or did I forget something.

  • Installing xdk PL/SQL 10g in 9.2.0.X database

    I don't find documentation for installing xdk PL/SQL 10g in 9.2.0.X database. Do you have some ???

    Try changing the order in which the bind-parameters are used, putting all dates last, or first, I can't remember which one worked for us, something like this:
    ...("update ss_campaign set campaign_name = ?, updated_by = ?, organization_code = ? where campaign_id = ?, start_date = ?, end_date = ?, updated_on = ?");
    and then changing the index for the setXXX accordingly. What we saw was that one of the varchar columns got corrupted under some circumstances if we didn't do this. Again, I can't recall if we moved the dates to the beginning or to the end, but one of them did the trick. We could reliably reproduce this in our application but not with a small standalone java app.

    Go to Docs.Sun.Com and get the system's documentation. Also go get the OBP 3.x Command Reference manual while you are there. All you questions are answered in that documentation, except for those that are easily found with Google.

    that anybody working with XML would want to do it on the
    application server (which isn't his responsibility). We're on
    8.1.7.2, but -- while the XDK is shipped with that version, it
    requires an extra install step, which he has refused to do, even
    on our development box.
    This has been going on for months now. We're unlikely to move to
    9i within the next year. So does anyone have any suggestions on
    how I might convince him (or, more likely, his management) that
    we should be allowed to test the tools.
    What testing did any of you do before installing the parser,
    etc. on your development and production instances? Anyone
    willing to be a reference? Or am I the one who's wrong and we
    shouldn't be doing anything with XML in the database?
    -- jim

    Well, (I'm not claiming to be an expert here, just my opinion!)
    I don't think that XML is going to be any threat. The threat
    would be the Java in 8i that might not have security permissions
    set correctly (who has permission to read/write to what files,
    etc.). So are you saying the database is currently not JVM
    enabled?
    If he doesn't know much about Java security, then perhaps you can
    get someone who does to sit down with him and find how what
    permissions for the users should be, etc. The permissions will
    be a combination of Java permissions and database permissions.
    A related potential risk is if you have some batch jobs that want
    to use a properties file or something to keep the Oracle
    username/password in clear text. File permissions need to be set
    right to control who can read that.
    I'm loading XML files into tables now, and I happen to run it
    outside the database because I don't use PL/SQL (and hence don't
    need the wrappers). I am running straight Java (using the XSU
    API). On some machines (Windows 2000) I get a fair boost running
    with Java 1.3 vs. 1.2. I have (just for grins) loaded the entire
    mess into Oracle's JVM, and this particular application runs
    slower, FWIW.
    It depends on your shop, but I find the ability to write things
    in Java/SQLJ, and run them on any tier at any time very
    attractive. You may not have that need. That (code reuse, money
    savings, etc.) is a valid reason to get someone to override the
    DBA and say "Load this!". I would put the onus on him to say
    what the problem is. "I'm afraid" just isn't good enough to take
    the potential of the 8i JVM away from the rest of you, in my
    opinion. Once you get HIM to make the list of worries, then you
    can address them one by one and even write test code if you have
    to.

  • Inst. XDK on Oracle 8.05, just to transform sql-query in xml

    hi,
    id like to install xdk to use xsu to transform a sql query in xml.
    (i didnt find a way to download xsu without xdk)
    i4ve oracle 8.0.5 but i only find 9i-xdk-(pl/sql) - is this correct?
    what do i have to notice when i install
    this package with my orace-ver?
    thanks :o)

    XDK 9.x is not only for Oracle9i Database. You can download the
    9.0.2B XDK for Java and use XSU [or xsu12.jar(xsu11.jar)].

  • Need XDK for 9.2?

    Is there any need to download and install xdk with a 9.2 database
    or does this functionality comes bundled with the 9.2 release. Please clear this confusion that some of us have here. Also referring to one of the examples posted on this website:

  • Xdk + Tomcat 4.1.18 + jdk 1.4.0_01

    To install xdk on Tomcat 4.1.18 on linux. Here are the steps I did:
    I had a working 8.1.7 rdbms which circa 2001. So these is basically an upgrade steps.
    1. I downloaded xdk_java_9_2_0_5_0_tar.gz to /u01/xdkjava and cd'd to that directory
    2. untar this file as such: tar xvzf xdk_java_9_2_0_5_0_tar.gz
    which created three directories lib/ xdk/ and bin/
    3. cd xdk/demo/java/xsql
    4. mkdir safe -- a safe xsql home directory
    5. cp xsqldemos.ear safe/
    6. cd safe
    7. jar xvf xsqldemos.ear -- I have to do this to unjar
    and pick out xsqldemos.war, reason being when I attempted to deploy xsqldemos.ear on jboss3, I could not get it to work. you should see xsqldemos.war in this directory.
    8. cd /u01/tomcat_home/webapps
    9. ln -s /u01/xdkjava/xdk/demo/java/xsql/safe/xsqldemos.war --this puts a symbolic link in the Tomcat webapps/ directory and I have Tomcat setup to autoexpandWAR="true".
    10. cd /u01/tomcat_home/shared/lib
    11. cp /u01/xdkjava/lib/xsu12.jar .
    cp /u01/xdkjava/lib/xmlparserv2.jar .
    cp /u01/xdkjava/lib/oraclexsql.jar .
    12. make sure a copy of classes12.jar is at /u01/tomcat_home/common/lib/
    13. Check to make sure connection parameters in /u01/tomcat_home/webapps/xsqldemos/WEB-INF/classes/XSQLConfig.xml are valid. What comes with the xdk kit may be different set-up so check specially username and password.
    14. start tomcat /u01/tomcat_home/bin/startup.sh
    15. point browser to http://localhost:8080/xsqldemos and this should display the index.html page. good luck

    This kind of errors often come from syntax error in
    the jsp page.
    Tomcat is not very friendly with this kind of errors.
    A trick is to open the java file under the 'work'
    directory and checkIsn't there any way to show the error on a page, just like a run-time error?
    Maybe changing some log setting?

  • How to create a errortag in the XML-Output ?

    Hey
    who can help me creating a error-tag in my XML-output of a PL/SQL procedure ?
    Enviroment:
    Oracle DB is 8.1.7 with installed XDK-package (in a few
    weeks perhaps Oracle 9i). I've no problems to use the dbms_xmlquery-functions and -procedures.
    I've to develop a PL/SQL procedure which is called via JDBC from a JAVA program. The procedure execute a Select-Statement. The result is transformed in XML and stored in a CLOB, which is given back to the calling JAVA-program.
    There exist 2 possible result-situations.
    -1- one or more rows are found
    -2- no row is found
    Problem:
    For each of these situation the XML-Output should have a different structure and my main problem is to integrate the errortag !!!
    for -1-
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <data>
    <error err_code="NoError"/>
    <record num="1">
    </record>
    <record num="2">
    </record>
    </data>
    for -2-
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <data>
    <error err_code="NoDataFound"/>
    </data>
    Hope somebody can help me ???
    Andre

    Hey Rajat,
    thanks for your answer, but the errortag is needed by another department. They use it for their processing.
    Have you got any idea, how to integrate the errortag with the functions or procedures of the dbms_xmlquery package ??? I've got only a few days experience with the dbms_xmlquery-package, so some code examples or advices would be great !!!
    I've tried the following coding:
    out_xmlresult OUT CLOB; -- OUT Parameter of the PLSQL-Proc
    c1 CLOB;
    queryctx dbms_xmlquery.ctxtype;
    -- create XML-context
    queryctx:=dbms_xmlquery.newcontext(<selectstatement>);
    -- delete the rowsettag (use 'data' later on)
    dbms_xmlquery.setrowsettag(queryctx,'');
    -- create new tag 'data' which enclose an empty header
    -- and the data section
    dbms_lob.createTemporary(c1, TRUE );
    c1:=EMPTY_CLOB();
    dbms_xmlquery.setDataHeader(queryctx,c1,'data');
    -- rename rowtag
    dbms_xmlquery.setrowtag(queryctx,'record');
    -- set encoding tag
    dbms_xmlquery.setEncodingTag(queryctx,'ISO-8859-1);
    -- create XML-Output
    out_xmlresult := dbms_xmlquery.getxml(queryctx);
    ...but I haven't got any success !!!
