Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages? I'm using a blank document, so I figured I could write my letter and add pictures any way I wanted to. But NO! Pages keeps changing the font size! I typed a large heading as a title, and when I try to change to a smaller font for the body of the letter, it changes the size back to the larger size! I am getting SO FRUSTRATED! I've spent over an hour trying to get the stupid program to let me just type my letter! Can anyone help?
The only one left is the "unsubmitted text" dialogue, which would not be a problem if I were not a Facebook user; after updating the "Richard is..." field (which does not require a manual submit to actually send) I get the above message. This is obviously Safari just not realising that the info has been sent and is therefore (I imagine) one for Apple themselves to answer!!
You're welcome Rich. Glad to help.
Not being a Facebook User, I'm not sure how to respond to the error situation. However, this would be something to report to Apple as a bug via the Safari Menu. First, open to the page in question, then select "Report Bugs to Apple".

I downloaded a cheap PDF editor and it converted all my PDFs to their software. Then when I deleted it, I cannot open them in the Adobe format any longer. Please let me know how to get them back!
It's important to understand that when this sort of thing happens files aren't "converted" at all.
In Windows and Mac, there is just one app (program) that it run when you double click a type of file. There's an app for Word documents (Microsoft Word). There's an app for PDF files. So all that happened is that you installed an app which can open PDF files.
Nothing changed in the files. You can still open them the traditional way if you forget double click - start the app, use Open from the File menu. -

Want to store and retrived images in the BFILE format using inter media
I want to store and retrived images in the BFILE format using inter media.I found a article in the oracle site that Oracle interMedia image supports BFILEs.But this article is not demonstrating the use of BFILEs.Please help me to findout the solution.
Thanks in advance.
nullThe advantage to using BFILE storage for your is that it's an easy way for Oracle
Multimedia to access your images without importing them into the database.
The disadvantages are that the images are read-only. If you want to scale an image or
convert to a different format, you will need to create a destination image to hold the result. This
will necessarily be a BLOB based image.
Adding images is difficult to do from within an application program. Generally you would add new images to a file system that is accessible to the Oracle Database, then insert new rows in your table with appropriate BFILE pointers to the new images.
BFILE images require separate backup from the database. Also there is not way to transactionally coordinate your BFILE data with your relational data.
If you are using Oracle 11g, you can use the SecureFile option for BLOB storage. This is much faster then the previous BLOB storage (now called BasicFile) and much faster then BFILE also.
That said, below is a code snippet that shows how to insert a BFILE based image, set it's properties, show it's properties and select the BFILE locator to access the content. You would need to use the DBMS_LOB package (in PL/SQL) to read the content. From other APIs, (e.g., Java) you would need to use the proper interfaces to access the BFILE.
Note that you need change the USER, PASSWORD fields in the code. Also you should change the directory location and image name for your use.
-- create a directory object indicating where the images are stored;
create or replace directory imgdir as '/tmp';
-- and grant permission to read to a user;
grant read on directory imgdir to <USER>;
conn <USER>/<PASSWORD>;
-- create the images table
create table images(id integer primary key, image ordsys.ordimage);

-- to create an ORDIMAGE object with a BFILE source
insert into images(id, image)

returning image into obj;
-- lets see if the image source is local or not
if(obj.isLocal()) then
dbms_output.put_line('image source is local');
else
dbms_output.put_line('image source is NOT local');

Use the default format and partition step to format disk0 partition 1 in multiple disks sutiation
As we know,we need to disable the default format and partition step in ts to let mdt deploy os on C and leave the other partitions stay safe when there is only one disk on pc,and the way of installing operation system is logical drive letter store in a varible.
But what if there are 2 disks on pc,and for a record the disk 0 is always the OS disk,don't need to confirmed this.How can we modify the format and partition step to format only C on disk0 under this condition?then lead the mdt to do the rest deployment
by itself.
ThanksYou are pushing up against the design limits of MDT, and the more complex and/or arbitrary the disk configuration the harder it is for MDT to perform installations.
If you want to maintain the *existing* disk configuration, and just update the OS present, then the recommended course of action is to run MDT from *within* the OS (cscript.exe
\\server\deploymentshare$\scripts\litetouch.vbs), not from WinPE. When you do this, it's called a "refresh" scenario. MDT can capture the user files via USMT, and it knows which
partitions to use, because it's launched from within the OS itself.
Disabling the default Format and Partition step has other unintended consequences.

Can you help me get the time format to match XML dateTime?
XML has a dateTime format which looks like this:
2002-10-10T12:00:00-05:00
and Im using XMLElement() functions in some queries to produce an xml document however it truncates the time portions of the data stored so it's just MM/DD/YYYY.
i would use a to_char function but I'm not sure what date format in Oracle to use to match the timezone portion at the end (-05:00) and how to get it to accept that 'T' in there as a separator as defined in the XML Schema spec:
http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlschema-2/
Does anyone know?Hi,

Does anyone know?Try something like
SELECT TO_CHAR ( SYSTIMESTAMP
, 'YYYY-MM-DD"T"HH24:MI:SSTZH:TZM'
FROM dual;Sample output:
2011-07-25T15:50:12-04:00The TO_CHAR function is described in the SQL Language reference manual:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/sql_elements004.htm#sthref396
Look up "Format Models, Date" in the index.
To put boilerplate (that is, fixed) text , such as the letter 'T', in the output, include it in double-quotes.
TZH is the format specifier for Time Zone Hours, and TZM stands for Time Zone Minutes. -
How can I text just the letter K?
It keeps getting changed to I. Over and over and over and over. Never learns that I want to send K. I can't add K as a shortcut because it's actually too short (go figure). I always have to cancel the attempt to auto-correct to "I" or else just forget and send the "I" to whoever.
Autocorrect is annoying but overall I want to leave it turned on.
Does anyone know of anything I can do to get the letter K to be accepted as a valid character to send by itself?I guess the send button is being considered as a confirmation to accept the correction, in which case you may want to post that as a bug…
http://www.apple.com/feedback/
I didn't test hitting send sorry I was trying to avoid polluting my messages (& my recipients ).
I did notice that the 'double tap spacebar' shortcut (to add a period) would leave the K in place. Perhaps you need to turn the single key press answer into a 3 tap one! A space may be enough to move away from the autocorrect popup.
If you sync to a Mac you may find the spelling list …~/Library/Spelling/dynamic-text.dat
Textmate 2 will show the text along with the special record separator - it is a custom format, so don't edit it.
Sadly I can't figure out how to move this back to iOS to correct it, Apple really need to add user dictionary editing as a feature, otherwise habitual typo's become permanent.
Resetting the dictionary could help, but it's unclear is 'K' to 'I' is stored in that dictionary. -

[email protected]it sounds like a fualty installation of Lion, this may happen from time to time.
The best thing to do in this situation is to reinstall Lion. You will not loose anything doing this, but you should always keep back ups of your information.
http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/
basically hold Cmd+R on boot..
first go to disk utility, verify and repair your disks and permissions. Exit out of Disk utility and then go directly to "reinstall Lion"
choose that and let it reinstall.
Adobe CS6 does need Java to run.
To play your movies you might need to get an application called VLC. VLC is a free app and will play most videos and music files you throw into it.

you have a 64bit intel mac, so get the one for that. -
Finder cannot open files in the "volume" format.
I had to downgrade from the second Yosemite beta in order to run one of my applications for work that didn't run on Yosemite. I've successful reinstalled Mavericks to the chagrin of finder not working at all. Whenever I mount a DMG I get "Finder cannot open files in the “volume” format." Also, whenever I click to open a folder or a new window in finder, it just crashes and relaunches. I'm going to try to do a fresh install of Mavericks and recover from a backup. Let me know if you guys have faced this same issue and found a solution.
I also had to regain admin privileges for my user which I have done successfully.I fixed my problem by installing Mavericks again. No need to fully restore.

Exporting to PDF, the letter t is exported incorrectly
Hello.
I have an winforms app developed in .net 3.5. Reports are made in Crystal Reports 2008. I have a problem when exporting a report to PDF. The application have about 10 reports, and all but one works fine. The report looks correct when displayed in the CrystalReportViewer, but the exported PDF is not. Some characters are displayed incorrectly. The letter 't' is displayed as 'tt'. But if I select the text, it selectes the two t's at the same time, as if they where one character. If i select and copy the text and paste it into notepad, the text is correct.
Not all t's are displayed incorrectly. All t's using the font Cambria are correct, all t's in the font Calibri turns into "tt"
For example:
In CrystalReportViewer the following text is displayed "lit"
In the exported PDF the following text is displayed "litt". If I select the text and copy it to another document, i get "lit".
I've tested the app on 4 different machines.
1. A Windows Server 2003, the exported PDF is correct here
2. A Windows Server 2008 R2, the exported is not correct here.
3. My development-machine, also running Windows Server 2008 R2. The exported PDF is correct here.
4. Another machine running. Windows Server 2008 R2. The PDF was incorrect here. all t's here displayed as "ti", so "lit" became "liti". On this machine I installed the very latest runtime (fixpack 3.3).
I looked in the GAC, and all machines seems to have the correct runtime installed (version 12).
I compared a working report with the report that is exported incorrectly, they both use the same font. Calibri.
Does anyone know what is wrong?
Kind Regards JohanDon't forget to use the search box at the top[ right corner of this web page. The term "Calibri net crystal" returns one hit:

I updated my pages app on my ipad and when I tried to open a document it says the file format is invalid. None of my documents are opening pleaser help!!!!
Try this. It worked for me.
I discovered the same problem. I had an older version of Pages on my iPad. After updating it to the latest version all my previous documents created in pages for the iPad were rendered unreadable and a message stated that they were an invalid format. Why for the life of me would a program that was created by Apple and sense updated not be able to read previous versions...well that's a whole other sad story. Any way I discovered how to fix it but it would require that you had backup your iPad on a computer and not emptied your trash. If this sounds good than here is how you fix it... And it worked for me.
These steps will enable you to reinstall a previous version of the Pages app so you can be able to read and edit older documents.
FIRST: if you did backup your iPad using your computer and did not empty your trash, GOTO the trash and look for PAGES 1.4 (or other number) ipa ( that's the file extension) ie PAGES 1.4 ipa.
SECOND: move that file out of the trash and onto your desktop. Once you do this, double click on it and a box will come up stating a newer version has been found and do you want to revert back to older version. ANSWER YES. It will than automatically place and overwrite the older version back into the file on iTunes that contains the rest of your backed up apps.
THIRD: and this is where it is important that your backup would have to have been on your computer. I'm not sure if backup on the cloud will work. iCloud backup at your own risk And here's why. Before you restore you will need to remove the latest version of Pages off your iPad by doing the usual : holding down the home button until the apps wiggle and remove by pressing on X on app. Removing off your iPad will also delete all your documents but if you have a previous backup on your computer those documents will be stored safely on itunes and will return.
FORTH: plug your iPad into your computer and allow it to sync so iTunes will recognize it. Once iTunes is up and you can see that it recognizes your iPad, GOTO "FILE/DEVICES/RESTORE FROM BACKUP." ******* DO NOT CLICK ON BACKUP***** click on RESTORE FROM BACKUP. This will reinstall all previous settings and documents that were their when you backuped PLUS the older version of Pages that you placed back from the above steps. Let it run through all the setups ( this could take up to 20 minutes...depending on amount of data and photos and apps).
FIFTH: Once everything is reinstalled a message will popup on your computer stating "to leave iPad plugged in until iTunes recognizes it again" ( it's basically rebooting itself). Once done (leave iPad plugged in still) GOTO iPad and follow the steps. IMPORTANT: iPad will ask you if you want to SET IT UP AS A NEW IPAD, BACK UP FROM THE CLOUD or BACK UP FROM ITUNES.....press SET UP AS NEW IPAD. Follow all of the steps required. Once complete GOTO iTunes on computer, look for "IPAD" plus a little arrow ( should be on upper right corner of iTunes window, click on it ( this will safely disconnect your iPad from iTunes) . Now unplug iPad from computer and go to your iPad and look for the older version of Pages. It should be there along with all your old documents ( readable and editable too).
Hope this helps. Good luck. -
What's the best format to import in to iMovie?
Okay, here is the situation, I have a lengthy Keynote presentation which I plan to export via QuickTime so it can be imported in to iMovie in order to do voice-overs. The question I have is what the best format is to use to export from Keynote in order to import in to iMovie. I am obviously looking for the format which is the smoothest, doesn't lose any quality, and will look clear once imported in to iMovie. Also, there is no reason to use H.264 since size during the transfer doesn't really matter to me, besides, H.264 seems to be somewhat jerky with Keynote exports (or maybe it's just my computer) as I am using some of the graphics intensive transitions and effects.
Also, I know that when you send movies directly from Keynote to iDVD or from iMovie to iDVD, it uses a format which is directly compatible and there is no conversion that takes place, is there a format which will work this way from Keynote to iMovie or does it always have to do the conversion.
Finally, the other thing you should know is that I created the presentation in Keynote using 1280x720 in order to achieve the true widescreen aspect ratio. Now, I am NOT looking to keep this in HD, once I import it in to iMovie, I only need the standard DV Widescreen resolution since I will eventually transfer it to iDVD to burn it as a widescreen DVD. So, I would also appreciate some sort of input as to whether I should export the QuickTime file out of Keynote as the full 1280x720 and then let iMovie do the down-sampling, or should I export it directly out of Keynote using the standard definition widescreen resolution? Please, I would appreciate ANY help on this!!!Thanks for your suggestion Bruce, however I found another way as well. I finally found that using the full resolution (1280x720) with Apple Intermediate Codec @ 60FPS turns the best results (for a relatively low disk usage). I finally went with the 60 frames per second because I was having problems getting a somewhat jerky output using Current or 30FPS in any format. I realize that iDVD reduces the FPS eventually, but it seems to be perfect when I take that route. Although the jerkiness isn't noticeable on most effects and transitions, if you use the newer transitions like Reflection or Doorway, you will definitely notice a less than perfect playback.
I know that I said that file size didn't matter, but I decided using uncompressed video was just too large, I think the file size was like 25-50GB or something like that. I took forever to import in to iMovie, so I quit with that route.
I really appreciate the Garageband suggestion, that was by far the best way to go. I never really tried using the new GarageBand in iLife '06 so I didn't even realize that it had movie scoring—what a GREAT feature! I definitely should have recorded directly in to GarageBand rather than in iMovie, something is just not right with iMovie's audio handling. Anyway, thanks for the help! -
I am facing issue when opening flash files in Flash CC. (error:- This file was created with a later release of Flash Professional and might contain new features that would be lost when saved in the current format.)
Wow. Okay...
I'll let the real veterans in this forum tackle your issues one after the other. But, I can tell you, all will be well.
My only comment would be re: your computer specs:

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.
I wish you luck, hang in there, and standby for more help.
