Hello everyone,
How to integrate APEX with EBS, so that user does not have to re-enter the username and password again?
I followed the following document, it works fine. But user have to re-enter the username and password.

Application Express 3.1 + BI-Publisher + problem with formating numbers

Hello together!
I use the Oracle BI Publisher Template Builder for Word (10.1.3.4) to generate RTF-Templates. I upload these templates in Oracle Apex (Advanced support-->BI-Publisher/OC4J as print service).
It works well, but I have a problem with formating numbers.
In Template Builder I define following number formats, for example: #.##0 for numbers like 1.454.234 and #.##0,00 for numbers like 54,80
In Template-Builder Preview it looks well.
But whatever I do, in use with Oracle Apex dots and comma are allready interchances in the printout.
That means,
1.454.234 become 1,454,234 in PDF-Report
54,80 become 54.80 in PDF-Report
Other than that, the layout is exactly the same like in Template Builder defined.
What's wrong?
Do I have to change any country parameter?

I also had the same problem. I tried with normal formating of 99g99g999d99 instead of ##,##,##0.00 and it has resulted correct way.

Problem with Application Express

Good Morning,
I installed Oracle Application Express, but I have a problem with the first login and the creation of my workspace.
During login using the username 'admin' and pwd as the sys's user because until now the only pwd I configure when I installed Oracle Express 10g and Oracle Application Express.
When I go to login, the page seems not to take any command.

Database or Application Express Authentication

For an APEX application that resides behind a secured portal, which authentication scheme should I use?
It seems to me Database authentication is more flexible (many db users granted with different privileges) while Application Express authentication is easier (one user with authorization not as flexible).
Am I off on the assumption? can someone tells me the pros and cons of the two?

It is not Oracle portal. This portal is set up to limit access from public. I will have a link behind the portal, but I still need to limit access to groups of users with various permissions. Meaning whoever can click on the link does not necessary have permission to access my APEX application, and even if he/she can access the application, he/she may not be able to access certain pages or buttons.
My questions is: which authentication scheme will be better and why.

Set default to date in Application Express?

Hi;
Is there a way to do the following in Application Express?
create table t (
col1 number,
col2 date default cast(systimestamp at time zone 'UTC' as date))
ie, via the UI set a default TIMESTAMP to the system time? I have not been able to find a way to set the default for an existing column in the IDE anywhere.

script, I was just trying to see if it could be done

What is "default setup with table"?

How to integrate Oracle Maps in Oracle Application Express (ApEx 3.2)?

I have an Oracle Application Express (ApEx 3.2) application into which I want to embedded Oracle Maps.

Print a report from Application Express direct to a CUPS Printer

Hi all, I'm new to this technology, is it possible to print a report from Application Express directly to a CUPS Printer? Can someone tell me in laymans terms how to do it? I find the terminology and documentation less than helpful.

BI Publisher handles submitting reports directly to a CUPS printer. However, the APEX integration doesn't currently integrate with that portion of BI Publisher.
Here's an options:
Use the Java API of BI Publisher to build a custom Java program that would do this for you. Delivering to CUPS is part of the Java API.

I did some more investigation to check what could cause this to happene, whereby the report toatal is not displayed at all for few selected paramters.
What i could analyse was that the records returned were more than 50 (Standard Setting) , which however could not fit into the page, along with that the pagination scheme was not selected. I had to make 2 changes to the Layout of the report
Pagination Scheme : Row Ranges X to Y(with Next and Previous Links)
Number of Rows : 500
This worked for me as the displayed could not be seen on the next page with Previous and next links on the report output.

Difference Between Application Express and XE

I am new and would like to know what is the difference between Application Express(Apex) and XE?
Is XE a standalone version and Apex is more like an enterprise editiion?

Can not login to Oracle Application Express after upgrade to 3.2

I installed oracle database express and then I upgrade APEX to 3.2 on it. I got the login page but I can not login by using any account, like SYS, SYSTEM. From the document, internal ADMIN account should exist but I did not see it from dba_users table.

I did run apxchpwd.sql to change the Application Express ADMIN user password. Then I invoked http://mymachine:8080/apex and got the Application Express login page. I put ADMIN in workspace and ADMIN in Username and the new password. But I still cannot login. I also tried http://mymachine:8080/apex/apex_admin page login. I typed ADMIN as username and the new password. Then I clicked on Login button. Nothing happened. No error message.
Any idea?
By the way, what does apxxepwd.sql do?

Application Express Printing in 3.1 and Oracle 9i

Hi,
I am running Application Express 3.1 on a Oracle 9i box using application server 10.1.2 for the web server and when ever we try to do any printing to PDF files it files, changing to HTML give me the following errors; (it works fine from our 10g2 box also running Apex 3.1)
Any ideas on this?

Unfortunately I can't provide much help, other than that we have seen this before with 9iR2, but haven't yet figured out when this does occur, so not sure if it's related to a specific patch version. If possible, I'd recommend upgrading to database 10g or higher. And if we do figure out under what circumstances this problem comes up in 9iR2, I'll post this on the forum.

SSO Authentication for more than one application in Application Express

Hello,
I recently got a single application working with SSO integration for Application Express 2.2.
Now I would like to create multiple applications within the same workspace, which all use SSO authentication. I tried both copying the working one from the other application and creating a new SSO authentication scheme from scratch into the new aplication.
I cant seem to make the new application work with SSO authentication. Do I have to go through all of the same steps I went through to get it working with the first application?

Ok, my bad.
After shutting down my web browser and reopening it, the SSO integration now works for both the old and new applications. Not sure what was cached, but it was bypassing the sso check.

Upgrading Application Express on Oracle XE (installed on Ubuntu 8.04)

I'd installed on my laptop (OP is Ubuntu 8.04) Oracle XE and is wotking quite fine.
But I really like to upgrade apex to last version (3.1.2). I read documentation but are not many information about how to upgrade.

On whatever version of Windows I've updated without problems Application Express.
I'm talking here about Ubuntu (a debian distribution of Linux).
My problem is where to unzip apex, where to use sqlplus command prompt etc., because is different than Windows.
If you don't have DBA rights on the account (user account other than root) you have errors in installation process and more.
For example they say in doc...:0
"To run the apxconf.sql configuration script:
1. Change your working directory to ORACLE_BASE\ORACLE_HOME\apex or whatever convention used to indicate the Oracle home.
2. Start SQL*Plus and connect to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed as SYS. For example:
* On Windows:
SYSTEM_DRIVE:\ sqlplus /nolog
SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
Enter password: SYS_password
* On UNIX and Linux:
$ sqlplus /nolog
SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA

When you install Oracle what version you need, OP (Linux) create a different user account for Oracle. Usually if you want to use your account like dba for oracle, you need to give to that account the proper rights.
So, I need a installation rutine (for upgrading) for apex on Linux.

Problem with logon in to Application Express

I have successfully installed oracle Application Express
When I logged in to Oracle Application Express Administration Services for the first time he asked me to change password.
After I changed the password I can't log in to the application any more with the new password .
When I enter the user name and the new password no action happen,
Although when I enter any wrong password, a message with Invalid Login Credentials appear
User Name: admin
Old password: password
New password: oracle
