Integrated Planning 'Exit Classes'

Characteristic Relationships can use 'exit classes'(se24) instead of user exits(se37).  Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the two?
Thanks
Tim

Hi Tim,
the exits work basically the same way. In BI-IP they are implemented in ABAP OO (which has stricter syntax checks).
For exit planning functions, the ABAP OO "exit" function types in BI-IP provide additional functionality (option to work on all data vs internal packaging, option to read reference data).

  • IP - Characteristic Relationship with exit class URGENT

    Hi experts,
I need to derive two infoobjects from other one. I know that I have to use a exit class and there implement the ABAP code for especify the derivation.
I have copied the exit class CL_RSPLS_CR_EXIT_BASE. I suppose that the code of the derivation has to be implemented in the IF_RSPLS_CR_METHODS~DERIVE method. But, does anybody know the structure witch contain the source and target fields where is/are defined?
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi,
set a break-point in the factory method get_instance to check whether the class is called. In the planning modeler make sure that you  use an external break-point.
Or use rsrt an change a cell value: Derivation is called in the delta buffer to derive from the fields contained in the aggregation level. So check also that the source fields are contained in the aggregation level or can be derived via a a chain of derivations.
Also make sure that all source fields have to be non-initial. The system will not call derivation for initial source fields since in this case there is not unique target, cf. http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/1c3d0f31b70701e10000000a422035/frameset.htm
Remark: The attached document of note 994853 is about the disaggregation feature but it also contains a section about the characteristic relationships. Observe also that the template exit classes are documented in SE24.

  • Derive method of characteristic relationship with exit class BI IP

    Hi All,
We have below four fileds in real time planning cube.
    Quantity
    Unit of measure
    Converted Quantity
    Converted UOM
We have implemented characteristic relationship of type exit between UOM and converted UOM. We need to populate values of converted UOM using characteristic relationship.
do we need to implement derive method to fulfil this requirement ?
if yes, when derive method of exit class is getting called ?
    Awaiting for your reply.
    Regards,
    Mitesh.

    Hi Andrey,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have tried approach suggested by you however break-point did not stop yet to derive method.
I will give little more details on what i have implemented, probably it may help you.
I implemented CREATE method and generated below combinations. No other method has been implemented yet.
    UOM            Converted UOM
    G                 KG
    KG              G
    clear ls_unit.
      ls_unit-unit = 'G'.
      ls_unit-unit1 = 'KG'.
      APPEND ls_unit to lt_unit.
      clear ls_unit.
      ls_unit-unit = 'KG'.
      ls_unit-unit1 = 'G'.
      APPEND ls_unit to lt_unit.
    E_TH_CHAS = lt_unit[] .
    Kindly suggest,
    1. any specific configuration at query level is required to call derive method
    2. what code should i need to write if i want to derive above combination using derive method
    Thanks,
    Mitesh.

  • Characteristic relationship with Exit class is not applied correctly

We are using a characteristic relationship (with derivation) type Exit class. For that we have created class ZCL_RSPLS_ARTICLE_FROM_PLMOD as a copy of the standard class CL_RSPLS_CR_EXIT_BASE.
Target and source characteristics are members of the aggregation level.
We want to generate a list of valid combinations of characteristics planning models and articles which should be planned in the planning query.
For that we are using the method IF_RSPLS_CR_METHODS~CREATE:
Source is characteristic Model ZMATMOD and we determine in the exit class all active articles ZMATART.
We get a list of active (planning relevant) models and articles in our exit class (table e_th_chas).
    --> For instance 6 combinations
    Until here everything works fine.
The problem is that in the query 8 combinations are displayed.
We have no idea why more than the generated combinations are displayed.
One reason could be that the characteristic article ZMATART is an attribute from characteristic model ZMATMOD.
So from a master data point of view 8 combinations would be relevant.
But we use the exit class in order to reduce the number of combinations to planning relevant items.
If we use the method IF_RSPLS_CR_METHODS~CHECK we could flag the 2 combinations which are not planning relevant to not valid.
But these are then displayed in the query. 6 combinations in change mode; 2 combinations in display mode. This would not help us.
We would like to see only the planning relevant combinations  6 combinations
Can anyone please help me urgently?
    Best regards
    Martin

  • Approve and Notify in Integrated Planning

I am wanting to implement an Approve and Notify functionality in my planning application in Integrated Planning.
i.e. When all assistants have submitted their yearly goals, I want to be able to notify the regional manager that they can begin reviewing the goals. Also, when the regional manager has approved them (and performed a few functions), I want to be able to email the assistants.
I am wanting to avoid using BPS - STS if at all possible. Is there a way to have FOX Formula, or some other function, email the users when this has been performed?
I was thinking about marking a submit flag when the assistants submit their hours, and when all flags have been marked for a region, it will notify their manager.
    Thoughts?

    Hi,
It's quite difficult to track the status of the goal submission by all assistants if you are not using STS.
But you can send mails to assistants when their goals are approved by writing ABAP. You can't achieve that via FOX.
Try to use STS as that will fulfill all your requirements with minimal configuration efforts and no programming.  Also, you will not require additional characteristic and programming logic for FLAG.
But if anyways you don't want to use STS let me know, I have the code for sending emails via planning function exit.

  • Integrated Planning - Retraction to R/3 from BI 7.0  (CCA & PCA)

    Dear collegues,
Actually, I have to do some retraction for integrated planning of CCA and PCA (two projects for the same customer).
The integrated planning works allredy very well. Now I have to retract the plannig data back to the R/3 (NW 2004 - System). I have allready read the very interesting blogs of Praveen, but i am not able to rebuild it on my system. For example the dictionary structures /1SEM/_YS_CHASE_ are missing on my systems. On the other hand, I am not sure, on which system I have to build up the retraction (on the R/3 or on the BI 7.0).
Are there any trapdoor, I have to avoid in my project?
Has anybody further information, how to setup a retraction in case of cca or pca with BI 7.0?
I would be very happy, if someone could post an actual blog for retraction with R/3 and BI 7.0...
    greetings,
    Björn Dahlschen

    Hi ,
IP does not have retraction capabilities like BPS.
However you would have to utilize the BPS0 framework for the retraction piece.
Since you mentioned that you have input queries ready so I assume you have the transactional infocube ready. You dont have to copy the infocube to anything....
Please create an planning area attached the transaction infocube that you already created.
Create the planning level for CCA usually cost center , cost element , period amount etc.
Create the planning function - This is the retraction exit.
Create the structures in UPB_STRUCT for retraction as well.
Let me know if this was helpful.

  • Restrict on Navigation attribute in Integrated Planning

    Hello,
I have created an Aggregation Level on the Multiprovider(combines Actual and Plan) and I have created a ready to input query on the multi provider. The query works fine for planning.
However, I would like to restrict the query to show only few accounts. Account type is the navigational attribute on the Sold to party and I want to restrict only the Sold to party of Account type 1 2 3 & 4. When I restrict that in the query the Planned values are not editable. I am not able to input the planned values. I am able to input when I take the navigational attribute away in the query.
Could anyone of you please help me with this. Could anyone please let me know the steps to use the navigational attribute in the input ready query or Integrated Planning
    thanks,
    KK

    Hi,
As Sven has mentioned has mentioned you can lock each record by having a characteristic "0createdby".
But you have to create a characteristic relationship of type "Exit" where in you write a small piece of ABAP code to generate the value of "0createdby", when the end user tries saving a reocrd in to the planning cube.
Kindly refer to the following link for more details on characteristic relationship,

  • *** Question How to load a file into BI-Integrated Planning and use WAD 7.0

Hi, I created an manual DTP upload to my planning infocube and it works fine.  The transformation rules convert 0CALMONTH into the relevant Calendar and Fiscal characteristics.   So all of my Time Characteristics are fine, both Calendar and Fiscal.
However, When using the "How to load a file into BI-Integrated Planning and use WAD 7.0" solution, only the Calendar Characteristics are populated and not the Fiscal.   The upload application somehow knows to populate the 0CALMONTH2, 0CALQUART1, 0CALQUARTER, and 0CALYEAR.
How can I get the upload to populate my Fiscal Period Characteristics?
Would it be best to modify the "Upload Application, or can I write a planning function to update the fiscal characteristics, or some other way?
    Thanks!

My planning data is being uploaded via the SDN Planning File Upload Solution. What I did was end up modifiying the upload class ZCL_RSPLF_FILE_UPLOAD Method EXECUTE.

  • Questions about Integrated Planning and BPS

    Hi all,
I'm testing the functions of BW7.0. And at the point of comparing the new BI Integrated Planning from the BPS, I'm stuck with 3 problems. Can anybody give me some solution?
<b>i.</b> When using the input-ready layout of the BW-BPS 3.5, I was able to create a new record and load it up to the cube. Is it possible to make the same operation like this using the BI Integrated Planning of BW7.0?
<b>ii.</b> When using the BW-BPS 3.5, showing the character hierarchy on the Manual planning layout can be chosen. And I'd like to show the BPS Characteristic Hierarchies in BI Integrated Planning of BW7.0 like it is in the BW-BPS 3.5. Is it possible to show the hierarchy in similar type somehow? If not, can't I show the sum of it anyhow? And if possible, can you also show the sum of the each hierarchy and change the data?
<b>iii.</b> When showing the Characteristic combination data, can you choose how to show them from the transaction data or from all the combination like it was possible in the BW-BPS 3.5?
    Kind regards,
    Hiroshi Iwanaga

    Dear Beat,
    Thanks for your help.
The information you gave me made a lot of help.
Can I ask you more about the first question?
About getting new lines in the table web item,as you have told me, I have set the parameter NEW_LINES_COUNT as 20 in the table web item. But when I execute it,no lines shows up. Is this a program error or am I setting the parameter in a wrong place?
And this getting new lines feature, is it also possible when using a workbook?
    Thanks in advance,

  • How to use inbound exit class for more than one workflow step

    Hi All,
In Offline Workflow Approval Scenarios where the work items are sent to outlook of non sap users inbox through workitem exit of the respective workflow item. Based on the user reply from outlook email(either approve or reject) which sends an auto reply to Offline user . We configure an inbound exit class and assign the same in the SMICM transaction. Based on the code written using SAP_WAPI function modules in inbound class exit offline user gets the user approval result and performs the action in SAP.
My question now Is how can we use this inbound exit class for all the steps of a workflow.
For ex: In a workflow I have a decision step followed by an activity step. First I will write the work item exit for the user decision step and inbound exit code for the user decision step and offline user executed the user decision step with approve action.
followed by that I have an activity step for that I will code a work item exit for that activity level but how can I user the same inbound exit class for the activity step as well .
Quick reply  would be of great  help for me.
    With Best Regards,
    Veni

For the outbound processing you have the option of replacing the workflow exit by chancing the bsp application of the extended notification (see note 1448241 solution as an example of how to do the change) and replacing the standard links with a "mailto:...".
As far as the inbound processing, that depends on what should be done in the activity step, if for example you have a bapi which executes what the user does you can call it in the inbound class instead of the user and then the relevant wapi (complete the workitem/raise event etc.).

  • Problems with HowTo "Creation of BI Master Data in Integrated Planning...)

    Hi,
one of our customers need a planning application in which he can create master data for different attributes, insert some key figures for this attributes and changes already planned key figured.
For the last two point I've already found a working solution, the first point (creating of masterdata in web template) is still a problem. After a little search, I found a howto-guide "Creation of BI Master Data in Integrated Planning (IP) through Web Layouts", in which the necessary steps are described, how to do this (please see following link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/607193d5-cdd5-2b10-c699-8ff04c3124f6)
Does anyone of you know this guide and was able to build a working solution?
I have different questions, maybe you could help me:
    - what kind of variable is he using?
    - do I need a DataProvider in Web Template?
    - how do I get the connection to the used variable in the button group?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards
    Tim

    Hi Timo,
you require two howtos to implement the solution.
First, please take a look at the first document:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10d2b273-0e12-2c10-fab3-a34bde559f92?QuickLink=index&…
In chapter 3 you see the prerequisites (note 1101726 and notes 1384495, 1387004 and 136772). By this, you change the system behaviour, not to check if the new inserted master data is valid (it can't be valid, because the entries are new!)
And after this please implement the solution from the how to.
Furthermore you can take a look at this how to, which might help you too:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/607193d5-cdd5-2b10-c699-8ff04c3124f6?QuickLink=index&…
Even if my first post is a bit old, my customer still uses this solution, at the moment we are on 7.3 sp06, so it is working in newer releases too.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Tim

  • Configuration Requirement for Integrated Planning in BI 7.0 with JAVA Addin

    Hi,
We have BI 7.0 with Java Add-in installation newly migrated to Unicode.
BW consultants (I am BASIS Consultant) want to use "Integrated Planning".  I already checked IMG link of it & JCO destinations mentioned there are not in J2EE engine.   Even I am not able to create b'cos current setup is not on SLD.
I would really appreciate your help on below queries :
    1) Can I configure Integrated Planning without using SLD ?
    2) Do I need to install BI JAVA to running Integrated Planning ?
    3) Do I need to install EP & EP Core ?
I already checked most of SDN thread but sorry couldn't able to get answer to above questions.   I have checked SAP Notes : 901022, 919850, 917950.
Your early reply would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Narsing.

    Hi Balaji,
Thanks for information.   One thing to update with JAVA/JAVA addin portal core components gets installed.   So I didn't installed EP.
Now Integrated Planner is working fine.
    Thanks for your help.
    Best Regards,
    Narsing.

  • Use of forecast planning function in Integrated planning

    Hai ,
Can I Know What is the use forecast planning function in Integrated planning.
    Give me One Example.
Please tell What i hv to select in aggregation level, Filter, and Planning function for doing forecast.
    Regards
    Kishore.

    Hi,
Filter is indeed used in IP similar to how planning package was used in BPS. There really is no difference 'conceptually'.
What you have seen is the different options IP offers compared to BPS regarding planning function execution. You can execute planning function directly or using a planning sequence in an application (although in planning modeler, its only a planning sequence that can be executed, for eg., for testing purpose).
If you just execute a planning function without specifying any restriction, it will operate on the entire set of planning data. Whether its a planning sequence or planning function, the data it operates on can be restricted by binding the various characteristics (or variables) using various DPs in the application. What kind of dynamic selection are you looking at?
You can see following links if you have not read them already -

  • Error logging for Integrated Planning

Can I turn on error logging for Integrated Planning.  Users get errors and forget to screenshot it to me, so I have no way of finding out what their error was unless I get them to duplicate it.  It would be nice to look up a log of errors by user.  Do they have something like that in Integrated Planning?
    Thanks!

    Hi Dustin,
    Few comments :
    1. UPDATE TASK means that a new background task is create and the function is performed asyncronisly ,with that the user will not wait for the update of the DB to finish ,you can read in SAP help about CALL FUNCTION IN UPDATE
    2. Be aware that the table that you create will be extremely large in no time ,you will have to delete data on a regular basis
    3. The same concept of the thread can be applied to function module 'RRMS_MESSAGE_HANDLING' this function module is responsible of messaging in BEX 'some times IP related messages are invoked from it.
