Interactive report - strip HTML

Hi,
Where is the option to strip HTML for an Interactive report? Is it possible to set this option for each column?
N.B. This setting can be found under Layout and Pagination for classic report.
Thanks,
Louis-Guillaume

Louis-Guillaume,
Because we allow filters on the actual column values, strip HTML is not possible as an option for interactive reports. Any changes to the column values should be done inside the query.

  • Interactive Report with html tags --- Data saved in Excel with html tags

    Hello,
    I am using APEX 4.0. I have an interactive report that displays some of the columns bold and / or colors using html tags. As an example,
    SELECT
    '''<font color="green"><b>'' || SERIAL_NUMBER || ''</b></font>'' SERIAL_NUMBER,'||chr(10)||
    'PRODUCT_NAME,'||chr(10)||
    '''<font color="teal"><b>'' || PRODUCT_DESC || ''</b></font>'' DESC,'||chr(10)||
    'QUANTITY,'||chr(10)||
    FROM
    <Table name>
    At runtime, the Interactive Report displays the fonts, colors correctly; however, when I save the data of the Interactive Report in an Excel format, it saves the Html tags along in the EXCEL spreadsheet. For example, the column serial number from the above SELECT statement is extracted in an Excel column as ---
    <font color="green"><b>123456789</b></font>
    Is there another way to render the column data so that extracted data will not display the HTML tags or is removing the html font color tags from the SELECT statement the only option?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ed

  • Bug report: Strip HTML in reports

    Create a report region using the following SQL
    select * from apex_application_pages
    where application_id=:APP_IDThe default for Strip HTML is Yes in Report Attributes. Yet, if some rows contain CSS or Javascript snippets in the PAGE_HTML_HEADER column, they are NOT escaped i.e. the report column is empty and the code is dumped in on the page.
    Needless to say, this causes havoc with the presentation because the CSS is actually applied to the page.
    Thanks.

    Can you elaborate on that?The Strip HTML option (Yes/No for the whole report) allows html tags in column values to be removed (not escaped) when they are emitted when the column's HTML Expression attribute references the column in #COL# notation.
    And I agree, the Display As attribute of the Tabular Form Element section is a bit misleading as situated. Whereas most of the attributes in that section pertain to tabular form elements, the Display As LOV provides two additional variations on the Standard Report Column type: Display as Text (based on LOV, does not save state), and Display as Text (escape special characters, does not save state). Changing the selection among these three changes how non-updatable report columns are rendered, regardless of whether they are part of an updatable report.

  • Interactive report and HTML Expressions

    Currently I am using standard reports showing some icons using expression like:
    <img src="f?p=&APP_ID.:&APP_PAGE_ID.:&SESSION.:APPLICATION_PROCESS=ShowIcon:::F105_BILD_ID:#GUI_ID#">
    I would like to recreate my page using the interactive report capabilities from APEX 3.1. I couldn't find the column formatting section in the interactive report however.
    How can I reproduce the current icons showing behaviour using an interactive report ?
    Thanks for help
    Valéry

    Hello Valery,
    You don't have the HTML Expressions section in an Interactive Report.
    However what you can do is include your img tag in your select statement directly. So you would have something like
    SELECT '<img src="f?p='||:APP_ID||':'||:APP_PAGE_ID||':'||:SESSION||':APPLICATION_PROCESS=ShowIcon:::F105_BILD_ID:'|| gui_id || '">' as col1
    FROM your_table
    Make sure your IR column is set to standard column and not Text.
    That should do it.

  • Interactive report column filters to display differently than column values

    Greetings...
    We use images a lot in our interactive reports to provide a visual representation to a status, or something locked for update, or what-have-you. By default, when a user clicks the column heading of a column which contains images, the drop-down list that shows up displays the actual images, which is nice for the user to identify exactly which thing they want to filter on. The problem is when the user selects on of the options in the filtering drop-down, the resulting condition that is displayed under the interactive report search bar is the HTML code of the image. I'd like something else to display there because showing the user the HTML code is atrocious.
    I didn't think what I want is possible, but then I came across the Page Locks page within ApEx (page 4000:291 in ApEx 4.0.1) which displays a list of all the pages of an application and whether they are locked or not. It also allows you to bulk lock or bulk unlock a bunch of pages. That page uses an interactive report with a column called "Status" which contains images that represent whether the page is locked or not. When you click the "Status" column heading to filter, instead of seeing the images of an open and closed lock, you see the words "Page Locked" and "Page Unlocked." And even better... when you select on of them, the condition that is displayed to the user is very user-friendly.
    Can someone tell me how this is done so I can replicate it in my own apps?
    Shane.

    Why not create the IR using the text you require e.g. 'Lock', 'Unlock' and then use JQuery to replace the text in the report with the image you want. All the filters should then show the plain text and the report will display the image. e.g.
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=46801:1
    Here's what I did:
    Firstly make sure the IR has a region template.
    Then create a Dynamic Action with the following attributes:
    1. Advanced
    2. Event: After Refresh
    3. Selection Type: Region
    4. Region: [select the IR Region]
    5. Action: Execute JS Code
    6. Fire on page load: [checked]
    7. Code:
    $('td [headers="TEST"]').each(function(index) {
      if ($(this).text() == 'Lock') {
        $(this).empty().html('<img src="/i/htmldb/icons/locked_small.gif" alt="Lock" />');
      else {
        $(this).empty().html('<img src="/i/htmldb/icons/unlocked_small.gif" alt="Unlock" />');
    });Where TEST is the column name.
    That's it, this may also be of interest:

  • Interactive Reports in Apex 4.0

    i've just had a look at the new Web Sheets and improved Interactive reports in the Apex 4.0 early adopters. I was under the impression that we were going to get an on-screen edit facility much like the one in Roel's blog? Am I missing something?
    http://roelhartman.blogspot.com/2009/11/updateable-interactive-report-websheets.html
    I'm also surprised that you can't have multiple filters and specify them as AND/OR.
    I will also feed this back using the new Feedback form.
    Loving Apex 4.0 though ;)

    Hello,
    If you look at Websheets in APEX 4.0 EA2 you can double click on a field in the report and you'll be able to edit it.

  • Is There A Graceful Refresh of an Interactive Report?

    Hello,
    I have created an Interactive Report and then modified it to get the update functionality for one column, thereby following the
    the clever solution of Roel Hartman:
    http://roelhartman.blogspot.com/2009/11/updateable-interactive-report-websheets.html
    Now all is working quite nicely, only there is one flaw. When I edit an entry and save it, the Interactive Report is refreshed and reset to the first page.
    Therefore, updating a number of rows can become very tedious when you have to navigate back to the resp. page after each edit action.
    I have tried several methods for refreshing the IR [for instance: gReport.search('SEARCH'); gReport.pull(); gReport.reset();] but not found a smart solution for a "graceful refresh" up to now.
    I'm using "window.location.reload();" now in my "save" function, which lets me stay on the current page of the IR on saving.
    Does anyone know of a better solution for this problem?
    Kind regards
    Roland
    PS: I'm using APEX 4.1 and Firefox 9

    Hello Tobias,
    yes I have tried using a Dynamic Action. After refreshing, the IR once again displayed the first page.

  • Remove HTML from Interactive report download

    I have interactive reports where the column link on a specific column has to be dynamic, that means, it cannot be hard coded in the column link attributes. The following is an example of one such report query:
    case when d.object_type_description ='Business Service' then
    '< href="f?p='||:app_id||':183:'||:app_session||'::::P183_OBJECT_ID:'||d.id||'">'||d.object_name||'</>'
    when d.object_type_description = 'Real Time Event' then
    '< href="f?p='||:app_id||':162:'||:app_session||'::::P162_OBJECT_ID:'||d.id||'">'||d.object_name||'</>'
    else
       null
    end as "OBJECT NAME"As you see in the above example, the link on the "Object Name" column could either redirect to page 183 or to page 162 based on the "Object Type Description" column.
    The column attribute of the "Object Name" column has "Display Type" set to "Standard Report Column". That works perfectly fine in the UI of the report. However, if I download the IR data (in any format) from the Actions -> Download menu, the object name column values are downloaded with the HTML characters as:
    < href="f?p=15548:183:6072319179284::::P183_OBJECT_ID:255245470513999672860510787772603748464">JP010000</>where JP010000 is the object name.
    Is there a way I can strip the HTML from the column values in the downloaded files?
    I am using Apex 4.1.

    Rohit,
    You can define the link in the query, make it hidden, use the value as column link URL. So, your query will look like the following:
    d.object_name,
    case when d.object_type_description ='Business Service' then
        'f?p='||:app_id||':183:'||:app_session||'::::P183_OBJECT_ID:'||d.id
    when d.object_type_description = 'Real Time Event' then
        'f?p='||:app_id||':162:'||:app_session||'::::P162_OBJECT_ID:'||d.id
    else
       null
    end linkChange the display type of LINK column to Hidden. In column link, enter #OBJECT_NAME# as Link Text. Select URL as Target. Enter #LINK# as URL value. In APEX 4.2, you can do this in easier way by defining HTML Column Expression.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comma-separated_values
    A comma-separated values (CSV) file stores tabular data (numbers and text) in plain-text form. As a result, such a file is easily human-readable (e.g., in a text editor).re: colours of html output
    interestingly, there are settings in print attributes, but they have no bearing on the output... obviously nothing to do with the html output. Probably best bet is BI Publisher, where you can define your own report templates.
