Interconnecting MDS 9148 with 2 different Fiber Providers

Hi
I would like discuss the following issue :
We have 2 HP SAN EVA 8400 ( one at the production site and one at our Disaster Recovery site ) replicating using a fiber channel service from ( 2* FC dark fiber from PROVIDER A )
They are linked together with 4 Cisco MDS 9148 Multilayer Fabric Switch (2 fabric ).
We have recently purchased a new fiber service ( 2* 1Gb FC managed service from PROVIDER B) in order to create a port channel with the 2 running ones and we have some problem.
We disconnected the PROVIDER A FC ( running for 10 years now ) and left the SAN replication during a couple of days running with the new PROVIDER B 1 Gb FC to make sure the link was stable and we had no issue.
Then we tried to connect the 2 FC together from the 2 providers and tried to create a Port channel.
However we discovered that to create a PortChannel, interfaces must have the same configurations ( speed, mode, rate )
In our case , the interface FC 1/1 using PROVIDER A link is running at 4 Gb and the interface FC 1/2 using PROVIDER B is running at 1 Gb

So we tried to force the FC 1/1 to run at 1 Gb ( same speed as FC 1/2 ) to create the PortChannel, by doing the basic command on the interface : Switchport speed 1000
Since that , our SAN is logging every 10/15 minutes the following errors :

Is there a best practice to reduce the interface speed in order to create the PortChannel with identical interface setup ?

the RTT delay by each link is different and this is causing packets to arrive out of order.
not sure if port channeling between two different links or different characteristics is good practive.

I have 3 data providers of the same structure i.e ArrayCollection of DataElement and want to use them to create a multiseries line chart. I do not have just 1 dataProvider that can be used but 3 different data providers of the same structure that i want to use each for different series.

Sorry for the confusion. Actually I must be doing some thing wrong like using ColumnChart to display a line chart or something like that.
I have now realized that a multi series line chart can be built by having a different data provider for each of the LineSeries object.

Therefore, we have maintained entries in list "Affected data providers". Most navigation steps affect the other item, however, navigation on hierarchies doesn't affect other Items.
Is there any solution to this situation?

Different number of parses with different providers

I tried to figure out
how could I control number of parsing from MS ADO app.
To my surprise it seems that there is no general way to do it.
The behaviour is heavily dependent on underlying OLEDB provider,
and for some of the providers (Oracle's own including)
I did not manage to reduce number of parses.
I wrote a simple vbs script that:
1. Opens the connection for the given provider
2. Executes ALTER SESSION SET session_cached_cursors=100
3. Creates ADO command with 'SELECT ... FROM USER_TABLES..'
     and with one parameter
4. Opens ADO recordset with this command, reads from and closes it

As you see the number of parses (both soft and hard) differ from
provider to provider.

It looks like there is no way to control this 'bad' behaviour of
OLEDB providers, at least from ADO level. I looked through the docs on
Oracle provider for 8.1.6, but found nothing.
There is a temptation to drop all this stuff in favour of SQL
incapsulated in PL/SQL procedures...

This is a common problem for new users working with buffers. The most likely cause is that you are reading the buffer BEFORE it is full. If you initiate the second measurement immediately, you will likely see a Keithley error caused by trying to set the buffer values while a measurement is in progress. The keithley will immediately return the buffer contents when asked to. You, as the programmer, must set up your LabVIEW code to wait for the buffer to fill, then read the values. While a fixed delay before reading could work, here is a better solution.

(sorry I don't have access to the files right now to upload them here. The idea is first set the registers to watch for the buffer to become full. When full, the SRQ bit will be set to 1. After starting the measurement, i probe the SRQ value in a while loop. Once it's set to 1, read the buffer and reset registers. This method is outlined in the Keithley 24xx SMU manual (I can't remember which page).

How to use syslog with a MDS 9148

Hi,
I'm looking for some informations regarding MDS-9148 and syslog. I need for some security needs, to send the events of a cisco MDS-9148 into a syslog server.
I did the following commands:

logging server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
logging commit
--> When i executed the command "logging commit", the switch has return to me the following error message:
CFS distribution is not enabled for logging
It's a FC switch, so the only IP link should be for the management.
Must i do something related with CFS to enable logging events to syslog server ? I've checked with our network admin that uses Nexus switch and he doesn't seem to use CFS for it's logging to a syslog server.

Thank you for you answer. It confirm what our network admin showed me. However, it is not working i'm still getting the the message: CFS distribution is not enabled for logging
If i run the command: show cfs status, i receive the following information

We are pretty sure we aren't using CFS. In one of our datacenter, we got 2 switchs 9148 configured with NPV. The other datacenter has only 1 switch per fabric.
Am i getting the CFS message because it is actually "Enabled" ?
I did a show runnin-config cfs, to see if there was a configuration done of CFS, but there is none.
Can i "Disable" it without causing issue ?

Fabric Interconnect To MDS 9148 FC Port Channel/Trunks

Is it possible to create both a Port Channel and Trunk on a Cisco MDS 9148? Yes correct?
Or can I only trunk between the 2 MDS switches and not the MDS to Fabric Interconnect?
These FC links would be connected to a 2248XP Fabric Interconnect carrying multiple VSANs from the MDS to the Fabric Interconnect.

Yes, you can have trunk links grouped into port channel ( F port-channel trunking ) between FI and MDS.

Cisco MDS 9148 compatibility with Finisar FTLF-8524-P2BNV SFP+

I have a Cisco MDS 9148 switch with Finisar FTLF-8524-P2BNV SFP+ modules. I am told by the guys configuring the equipment that these modules are not identified in the switch interface.
I am curious if there could be a compatibility problem (I have not found a compatibility list) or any other issue which could cause the behaviour.

We have 2 MDS 9148 switches running on NX-OS 5.0(1a). These switches are connected to EMC VNX 5300 currently running on 05.31 version.
We are planning to upgrade both Switches and VNX.
So my query to you guys is, I am thinking to upgrade Switch to NX-OS 5.2(8c). Will this 5.2(8c) support the VNX 5300 05.32 version.
Please suggest.

How to get Events in code for MDS 9148

I m trying to retrieve Events for Cisco fabric switch MDS-9148.
I can see the events in DCNM UI but couldn't find any web service method or SMI-S class to retrieve value.
Can anyone please help me on this?

But for the exception shown below we are able to see the error code.But that has nothing to do with java. That exception originates either in a jdbc driver or much more likely in the underlying database (direct from the database itself.)
Most java exceptions have no such number.
The SQLException does have a getErrorCode() method. It might return something useable. However you are also likely to find that it returns a different number or no number at all.

3 different data providers

I have 3 different data providers.
I want to put all these 3 data providers value in horizontal table.
I already have veritcal but to see the comparision I need to have horizontal table.
I tried to drag and drop 1 of the data provider in 1st row and table got populated correctly.
I tried to do same with another product to be added in the next row but it gave me the sum of its data in all the colunms.
I tried to merge but that option is not enabled.
Can anyone tell me if this is to do with combined query or what?

Regarding merging please follow the suggestion from Michael.
And regarding Horizontal table, as you said the data is appearing correctly in vertical table then you can convert your vertical table into Horizontal table by Turn into option.

LMS and MDS 9148

Unable to collect Inventory for a MDS 9148, following error :

I have deleted the item and re-created
LMS 3.2 ; RME 4.3.1
MDF and devices up todate.

Cisco MDS 9148 Inventory Collection

I get the following error on an inventory collection of a MDS 9148 (NOS 5.0.4). I have tried deleting and recreating the device.

How do I host sites created with Muse with other hosting providers?

If my client prefers to use a third-party (non-Business Catalyst) hosting provider, is it still possible for me to build their site using Muse?
Do my sites have to be hosted on Adobe Business Catalyst servers?
I would prefer to use the integrated hosting that is included with Muse, but my client has been using a different host providers for a long time (and all of their sites are on the same service). It simplifies their billing process, so they have specifically requested that I configure their site to host with another provider. Is this possible?

You can use Muse to build a website and then publish the site on a different host provider of your choosing.
Follow these steps:
Choose File > Export to HTML to export the entire set of site files to your local machine.
Once you've exported a copy of all of the site files, you have two options:
Use the FTP functionality in Dreamweaver to connect to the host provider using your client's account information, and then upload (Site > Put) the entire folder of files to your hosting account.
Use a third-party FTP client to connect to the host server and upload the files.
