Intermittent File, [file], has a different computed hash than specified in manifest error

I have a Click Once application that is deployed on a web server. During development and testing, we see no errors with downloading the files or application launch. A small portion of our users are reporting launch failure and when they send us the log it
always fails on the same file with the error in the title. We cannot reproduce the issue on any of our machines.
We recently had to redo our deployment process as we bought a new signing certificate which uses SHA-256. As a result of not being able to use mage anymore, we moved the publish back into VS 2013 update 3 and create the deployment package with msbuild. Prior
to this restructure of our build, these same users got a different error on this same file. To create the deployment here we were using mage on a computer that had only .NET 4.0 installed. In this case the error stated that the file was not a valid Portable
Executable. The file that causes the error is a 3rd party DLL that we perform no modification to during the build and publish of the application.
I've looked all over this week trying to find a solution or even what could cause this inconsistent behavior but have had no luck so far. Is it most likely that something running on these few users' machines is altering this file during download and causing
the hash mismatch?
Thanks for any insight.

Hello,
To confirm whether this issue could be reproduced, I would recommend you install it in a clean machine to test.
If that still works fine, then maybe you could consider refering to
this blog to see whether changing that setting will help.
If still no luck, then you could refer to
this thread
to see whether that helps.
In addition, if your application is wpf, you could also consider using the way shared in
this thread which uses AfterCompile.
Regards,
Carl

  • Can I share my books on iPad with someone in family that has a different computer and email address

    Can I share my books on iPad with someone in family that has a different computer and email address

    If you got them from iBooks, then no. As far as I know, iBooks are linked to the Apple ID that downloaded them. If you got them via Kindle or the such, the apps may have a sharing function.
    If it's another app, then whatever  the rules of that app says is what works.
    If you're looking for e-books on a budget, check out your local library. Many have e-books you can check out for a period of time, and they either work with an app or are PDF files with some sort of time limit encoding in them

    My iPad has a different Apple ID than the Apple ID on my computer. The iPad Apple ID has an email address that I no longer use. If (while on the iPad) I go to My Apple ID and try to change or add the email address that I now use (and which already is my Apple ID on the computer), it won't allow me to add it. It says : "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID"  I haven't really been aware of this as a problem until I tried (for the first time) to sync my iPad to the computer and became aware that certain things wouldn't transfer. What is the solution to this?

    What are you having problems with ?
    This post was about having updated the primary email address on an iTunes account via a computer - if you do that you might need to log out of the account on an iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in with the updated version of the account for that email address change to be recognised on your iPad. If you don't log out and back in then an iPad (or iPhone or iPod Touch) might continue to show the old version of the iTunes account id.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • I see another unsecured wifi network on my list. As I have recently changed routers etc. I just want to make sure it's not attached to me. It has a different IP address than the secured wifi network I have now set up.
    I see another unsecured wifi network (D Link)  on my list. As I have recently replaced an old modem router (D link) with a new fancy one (wireless gateway), I am wondering if this is somehow still attached to my computer. The D link wifi unsecured network has a different IP address than my newly formed secure wifi network's IP address.
    Also - if I turn my wifi off (regardless of if I am on the dlink or my new secured wifi) I can still watch netflix etc. on my tv from living room which tells me the the wifi is still on. Why is this so?
    Does my Mac have two IP addresses or is that D link someone elses?
    THank you to anyone who can straighten me out on this as I am confused.
    Thanks Tony,
    Believe it or not, I had already done that - that is why I was confused as I kept seeing it in the wireless networks that I was seeing even though I had deleted it in my advanced Network of Systems Preferences. I thought if it were mine it would go away, but alas it didn't.  Anyway, all is well and I can now relax that everything is secure thanks all to you.
    Cheers
  • Ordered an iPhone 6 Plus off contract with a credit card that has a different billing address than the account.  Does it matter and is the order going to be cancelled if it doesn't process the card correctly?
    Just don't want to find out Wednesday that my order was cancelled or delayed because the credit card has a different billing address than the account.  If they check the validity of the card at the time you pre-order I don't see it being a problem.
    Oh, should mention I ordered right at 3AM (EST) on the 12th and got a Confirmation email with a Deliver by: 9/19/14 but when you try the "Check Status page" it spits out "Expected Ship Date: Not available at this time."
  • How do i open iweb files on a different computer than what I created them on? - Domain file can't be opened
    I started a web page in the lab at school and want to open the file here on my computer. I saved the application support/iweb/domain file and have tried to replace the old one with it, but that doesnt work. I looked up where you can delete the last string in the com.apple.iweb.plist file but that would not work either. I've got the site published to a folder and the domain file saved and with me but thats all
    Put the copied domain file somewhere, or rename it and put it in the Application Support/iWeb folder, and double-click it.  That should open it.
  • If I download Mountain Lion on my MBP , can I use the same installer file on a different computer and continue the installation without Internet connectivity?
    Hi Folks,
    I have just downloaded Mountain lion on my  Macbook Pro(haven't installed it yet) . My question is, can I copy the same downloaded Mountain Lion from the Applications on to an external hard drive and use the same on a different computer? I am having problems with internet connectivity right now, it would be amazing if it can be installed on the iMac without internet connection.
    So is that doable?
    Thanks in advance
    And the 2nd installation would not require internet connectivity? Except , of course during the set up and the configuration of iCloud and location based services, which I can skip at the time
  • I have recently opened a new account with Itunes.I want to download my previous music purchases to my new account which has a different computer name, email address and Apple ID. My credit card details remain the same. Please HELP.
    How can I restore my old account music purchases which I closed, to my new current account which has a new computer name, email address and Apple ID? The credit card details remain unchanged, so would this act as a tracking device  for Apple to locate my substantial past purchases?
    Why would you start another account?
    You cannot transfer purchases to another account.
  • HT2954 How can I access my imac mail from a different computer other than Apple?
    How can i access my imac email from a differnt computer other than
    apple?
    If you are using IMAP mail connection (IMAP keeps the  mail on the server), then you just configure the other computer's mail client to access the same account.
    If you are using a POP mail connection, then the mail is generally downloaded to your Mac and deleted from the server.  That is a much more difficult problem to solve.  NOTE:  Google's gmail does have a POP option that does NOT delete the mail on the server, so it is accessible via the gmail web page.
    A lot depends on what you are using for your mail service and whether you are using IMAP or POP protocols.
  • Opening a Premiere Pro file on a different computer
    My Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1.0 project file was created and worked upon on my personal macbook laptop. I have been working entirely off of an external hard drive that was plugged into my macbook. I plugged my hard drive into a different mac computer that has the same up to date Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1.0 version of the software, but I repeatedly receive the message that my file was created in a "newer version" of Premiere and cannot be opened. If anyone has any idea how I can open the file, please help me. Thank you.
  • Opening ipod mp3 files on a different computer?
    My friend brought over his ipod to show me. We hooked it up to my mac to check out what would happen if I wanted to copy his stuff to my itunes library. Just got a mesage asking if I wanted to replace the stuff in his library with the stuff in my library. Nothing happened. Tried to open up the files in the ipod on the desktop icon and there was nothing in there. BUT. Hooked the ipod up to my windows pc and I could open and play the song files and everything. What gives?
    This is illegal?
    Yes, sharing copyrighted material such as music is not legal. Your friend owns a license for that content... not you. It would be illegal for both of you to have that content when only one of you paid for it.
    But, why can I authorize music that I bought on itunes to be played on 5 other computer's?
    You can authorize 5 of YOUR OWN computers. You can't legally authorize your friends computer to play your purchased tracks.
    My freind should be able to authorize his music the be played on mine
    Not legally.
    He should be able to play his dam ipod where ever he wants!
    He can. No one is telling anyone where they can and can't play their iPod.
    It is legal to make copies of matireal you have bought yourself isn't it?
    For yourself, yes. You can make all the backup copies you want, if you're the only one using them.
    Wouldn't copying my friends music be legal then?
    No, this is a violation of copyright law.
