Intermittent signal interruptions (green screen)
Anyone else want to weigh-in on this issue? I have intermittent green screen interruptions, particularly during evening hours, making it very difficult to watch TV with my FIOS service. Tech support said the issue is known (see my recent chat transcript below). I wish I would've known when signing-up that my particular brand of TV has a compatibility issue with FIOS. I would have bought a different TV had I known. However, verizon has been silent on this issue. Thus and particularly considering verizon's deceptive billing practices, I pay top dollar for a service I can not use. They say they are working on the issue. I wish they would disclose the issue when people sign-up.
See my last chat transcript. TV signal loss intermittently during peak (evening) hours. FIOS tech reset my STB, which fixed the problem temporarily, but the problem returned. he stated that a new STB is required and left a note with my account, which you should be able to view
Antonio: There is a known issue w/the 7000 series box that is going to be fixed by a software push in the next week or so. When it goes off, what exactly does it do?
gordon macpherson: STB stays on. signal is lost and screen turns green for a few seconds and then returns. This happens every few minutes, sometimes more frequently and more so at night. I have 2 stb and this is the only 1 with the problem
Antonio: It doesn't say "currently unavai" just goes to the green screen
gordon macpherson: correct
Antonio: one moment
Antonio: What kind of cable do you have from the box to the TV?
gordon macpherson: HDMI. I tried 2 separate cables- both have the problem. Since the signal if fine during the am it is unlikely that the cable is the issue
Antonio: It's not an issue w/a bad cable. Wht is going on is that the firware of the TV is not liking the firmware of the box itself
gordon macpherson: why is the other tv not presenting a problem. Both are sharp tvs
Antonio: Each of the TV and the box itself are all just highly speciliazed computers. And sometimes there are compatiblity issues. The temporary resolution is to reset your box by unplugging the power cable for 10-15 seconds. The more permanent solution is to use component cables from the box to your TV. Verizon is working on a fix for the issue, however we don?t have it yet.
gordon macpherson: So others are having this same problem?
Antonio: Yes sir
Antonio: However it is not a problem w/all TV or all manfactures. We know what is causing the issue, however devising a solution is taking us a while longer
gordon macpherson: when will there be a fix? It seems that verizon should not be charging for a service they are not able to provide
gordon macpherson: i am essentially unable to use my 2nd tv with fios
Antonio: We are working on a fix, but I don't have an ETA. It's not that we can't provide the service, it's that some of the programing in the TV has problems switching from analog to HD signals and back again
gordon macpherson: there was nothing in the contract to specify that certain TVs would not work
gordon macpherson: What is verizon doing for people who have this unresolved issue
Antonio: Right now the solution is to put the TV on componet cables (which are HD cables)
gordon macpherson: so there is no difference in signal quality between hdmi and component cables?
gordon macpherson: will verizon provide the component cables
Antonio: There is a slight difference. But we've had people in our call center w/the fios service test both cables. They say the difference is like being able to see an extra blade of grass
Antonio: We can't provide componet cables, however if you are willing to get your own I can get a 25 dollar service credit to cover the cost
gordon macpherson: I think this constitutes breach of contract. This issue was clearly known when I signed on, and there was no communication of a list of TV brands for which problems have been recorded
Antonio: I understand your frustation and I can work w/you to get a credit for those componet cables.
gordon macpherson: I appreciate that. however, I am paying for service compatible with HDMI
gordon macpherson: If verizon is unable to provide the agreed upon service I request that my account be cancelled and the cancellation fee waived
Antonio: Verizon is working on this issue. However if you wish to cancel you would need to speak w/our billing department.
gordon macpherson: OK I will forward this transcript with my cancellation request. In the meantime, please provide the credit and I will use it to buy component cables and see if that helps. Thanks for your help
Antonio: Ok. One moment for the to put that in
gordon macpherson: Ok Antonio. I realize this is the best you could do from where you sit. I appreciate the help and was interested to learn that I was not the only one with this issue.
Antonio: while I'm putting that in...did you want me to reset the box?
gordon macpherson: No it was reset yesterday. I will reset it tonight.
Antonio: Ok. I've got that request in. the Ticket number is MDDQ03T7Z8. This may take a couple of billing cycles to reflect
gordon macpherson: I would encourage verizon to communicate a current list of TVs for which there is a signal issue, until resolved. Had this been done when I signed up I would simply have bought a different TV
gordon macpherson: Ok thanks
Antonio: I will pass that along. However because the issue is highly dependant on the firmware of the specific models that is very hard to do. One last thing. If you get the componet cables and it does the same thing, then in that case it is not the known issue and we will replace the box (but right now all indications are that it is)
gordon macpherson: Ok. I will try that and see what happens. Do I need the 3 color (yellow, green, white) 2-ended cables?
Antonio: The componet are the green/blue/red ones for the hd signal and the red/white ones for audio
gordon macpherson: ok thanks. will verizon let me know when a software fix is available
Two things to try.
Can you plug another HDMI source into the same HDMI port in the TV? As far as I know, a normal DVD player doesn't use an HDMI output, you'll need a Blu-Ray player. This test is to make sure the HDMI port on the TV is working properly and didn't die on you.
You are getting a picture now with the component cables. That's fine. However, the component cables only transmit video, not audio. If you want to get audio, you need to connect another pair of audio cables from the FiOS box to the TV audio inputs that are linked to the 3-wire video input.
The old HDMI cable transmitted both audio and video on the same cable.

Hi,
Open window Control Panel, open Windows Updates, select View update history in the left hand pane, then select 'To remove an update, see Installed Updates'. Let the list populate, then locate update KB3001237, right click it and select Uninstall - when this has completed, restart the notebook.
Download and reinstall the latest driver for your particular graphics chip - the drivers and software page for your notebook is Here.
Restart after this reinstallation.
When windows has reloaded, reinstall update KB3001237 via the standalone installation options on the following link.

Green screen, downlading files and updating programs often stuck at 99%.
Okey so I have got this problem for a 20 days, since I build my own computer. Some videos on youtube and other video stream sites bug out in the way that the video just goes green, and starts fast forwarding. Then I think streams on twitch.tv for example, I cant watch a stream for longer than 20 second and the video gets frozen and the stream needs to be refreshed. And updating games, downloading files often gets stuck at very end of the progress, and it wont succesfully download or update. Im not sure is it about Flash Player/Shockwave Player but if there doesnt come example green screen it may show something like you are missing add-on Flashplayer but when i refresh the page it may run the video fine for some time.
The problem rarely happens at youtube but heres one where it happened Crs Piglet (Vayne) first ever NA Penta - YouTube
Heres video where the video didnt start at all and aswell when it did the screen gone green again and fast forward. (contains adds) http://www.thevideo.me/kmqcwhblzheh
Heres screenshots and one bad quality phone photo album of these problems, green screens, videos stuck, downloading stuck and updating stuck 99-100%. Imgur
Heres my computer specs:
My operating system is: Microsoft Windows: 8.1 Pro, 64-bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz
Graphic card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 Driver updated to: Geforce Game Ready Driver 347.52.
Memory (ram): 8GB
Motherboard: MAXIMUS VII RANGER
Dont know what else info I could put on about my computer really... I have tried to find answer, like disabling hardware acceleration, deleting flashplayer memory file, safe modes and all kind of tips I as able to find from internet.
And I use mozilla firefox (36.0), but the problems happens aswell in Internet Explorer. I have updated Flash Player (16,0,0,305), my drivers (Geforce Game Ready Driver 347.52), all windows updates, java(1.8.0?), but still cant find the answer why watching videos/streams work well.
Im sorry if I missed some info but ask if theres something. The green screen means that hardware decoding has failed. It's probably a subtle, intermittent driver bug.
You can disable hardware acceleration in Flash to avoid this while you wait for updated drivers to become available:

Hello
I experienced the "green screen" problem connecting a second monitor to a G5. I suppose it's a problem of wiring in the ADC-DVI adapter. Does somebody know how to hack the adapter to let the monitor get the right signal from red and blue channels? ADC-VGA adapters are no longer available, and I don't want to put a second video card.
thanks to everybodyHi-
Welcome to Discussions!
First, check that no pins within the connectors are bent.
If you want to rewire, here are some pinouts:
ADC connector pinout
DVI connector pinout

Live Stream Green Screen with Adobe Premiere
So at my school I am head tech for the morning news which is a live broadcast that is sent throughout the entire school. Right now we have a blank green background and my Teacher asked me to setup a way for us to broadcast the news with a green screen live. After about a month of attempts none have proven worthy for the situation is not the best:
- The output signal that is used to broadcast to the school is old analog: it runs on a coaxial plug. However, we have a modulator that takes in s-video and RCA and converts that to coaxial
- We have adobe Premiere on new computers but they don't have a suitable coaxial output, I could possibly install a graphics card we have but since they are new and are school PCs, I cant really do that
- The camera is nothing fancy, put does have a fire wire and RCA output, but the computers do not have none of those inputs, however we do have a converter from fire wire to USB
- The new computers have no RCA or s-video outputs(like I said, they are new and the broadcasting setup is old) but we still have one old laptop that we can clone the screen to the broadcast for it has an s-video output.(Possibly we could stream from the new PC to the old one and clone it to the TV?)
- The new computers do have extra VGA outputs, so could you possibly convert that to s-video? (Cus they are both analog?)
Like I said, this is a very sticky situation. My closest idea is that we could some how stream the green screen video from the new PC to the old one that would then broadcast it, but I do not know how to do that and the camera will not register with Premiere even when plugged in via converter... I believe it is because we do not have a capture card, the only capture card I could even use though would have to be external for I cannot open the new PCs under the school policies. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas on how I could solve this enigma, that would mean a million.Green screen (99.9% of the time) is caused by outdated or corrupted video drivers: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765

- I have the Diamond TV Wonder 650 Combo USB, I installed it, this step was GOOD and easy
- I started the program
- I configured it
- I watch the TV on the programa "Catalyst control center" and in the Windows Media Center
- I closed any other Aplication and I Started The Flash media Live Encoder
- I configure it but I Can't see the TV signal there that's what the Flash Media Encoder Show me:

Green Screen using AVC-Intra 100 ugly
Been using the hpx300 for approx two months mostly in 720p with great results. Just wraped our first true HD green screen shoot using avc-intra 100 at 24p with the intent of producing a white background mac-ad type, 5 min talking head corporate piece in SD. I had the camera mounted at 90 degrees to capture the 1920 pixels of subjects head-to-toe so I could then manipulate individual zoom and placement in post within a SD timeline. I've got two issues: one is that the images in post seem noisy, and any movement, as in subjects walking across screen, is a total mess - I say seem because all recording and playback on location looked just fine on a 1920x1200 monitor via blackmagic i/o box. I normally do basic editing in premiere with much help from AE for composting and color correction etc. Keylight has always worked great in the past. I must have something wrong with settings in the avc-intra HD content? Secondly, workflow is a bit convoluted... Keylight doesn’t apply in premiere, and AE doesnt do avc-intra. The workaround is to export avc-intra premiere timeline to AE and key that. In theory it should work just fine, but again my images are just noisy. Could this PR to AE workflow degrade image quality? Any suggestion greatly appreciated! Thanks, Matt
Poster must be busy shooting more stuff....
Found some info on that " hollywood camera " site.....
IS HD REALLY HD- GREENSCREEN ISSUES
These plates were all shot with an HVX-200, mostly with the 100 MBps DVCPROHD codec. This was good enough for us for Visual Effects For Directors because we had specific needs, but we don't consider them good enough for full film production.
Here's why:
COLOR SAMPLING: We prefer all green screen to be 4:4:4, so every pixel has a unique color. 4:2:2 only updates the color every second pixel, but green screen desperately depends on a sharp, accurate, scientific color transition. With 4:2:2, you're operating in half resolution. But if you downsize, like we downsized to 720x480, you're at full resolution again. So because we're delivering in SD, the plates are 4:4:4 for us. They'll just be 4:2:2 for you if you're delivering for an HD movie.
PIXEL ASPECT: When a camera is listed as 1920x1080 HD, that's really stretching the truth. You'll see that all our plates are in 1280x1080, which is the original camera resolution, meaning that the plate has to be stretched 150% on the X-axis to be in the right aspect. In other words, you're only operating at 66% resolution on the X-axis. Did someone say "smearing"?
NOT EVEN 4:2:2: By the time 1280 has been stretched to 1920 to make up for the 1.5:1 pixel aspect ratio, 4:2:2 has been stretched out too, basically becoming 4:1.5:1.5
LENS RESOLUTION: Nobody besides DPs really thinks about the fact that a lens has a resolution. Zoom lenses are made of many lens elements in a clever configuration, and each element introduces some blur. That's why top-notch DPs like to use prime-lenses cut from diamonds from King Solomon's mines, because if the lens limits the resolution, it doesn't really matter how well you record the signal after that. Some people have come to the conclusion that the HVX-200 is really a 720p camera, because the 1080p resolution doesn't really come through. We tend to agree, but we don't want to start a religious war, and will say that it's just our personal experience. On top of that, we've used a $500 wide-angle adapter on some shots, which really butchers the pixel resolution, so even though we're recording at 1080p, we're really not. But 1080p allowed us to record with the 100 MBps DVCPROHD codec, which meant that we still got a very respectable resized SD signal out of it.
BAYER PATTERN: Most cameras use a Bayer pattern on the chip, so that every pixel is EITHER Red, Green, or Blue — but not at the same time. A full Red-Green-Blue pixel is derived mathematically by interpolation. It's no wonder that some organisations are starting to call for an objective standard for what really constitutes a pixel, because a Bayer pixel is definitely not a real pixel — more like half a pixel. By the way, there are twice as many Green pixels than Red or Blue in a Bayer sensor, so you're far better off using green screen than blue screen on video.
HALO: Even with the internal sharpness generator completely disabled, the HVX-200 has a clear black fringe several pixels wide on the right side of actors on green screen. Panasonic vehemently denies it, but it's very easy to see. In this picture, notice that white areas get a fringe, but darker areas, like her legs or hair, don't. Panasonic's explanation has been that it's just a shadow from the lighting (huh?), but the halo is on the KEY side — so the only plausible explanation is a quantum singularity localized to the actor which bends light as it passes by her body. We think it comes from the Bayer pattern, but we're not sure. And Panasonic shouldn't feel bad. A Nikon D80 does it too.
HEAVY COMPRESSION: Even though it seems like a lot that we're recording at 100 MBps in the DVCPROHD codec, if you calculate the bit-rate per true output-pixel, we're actually still compressing at a whopping 15:1.
NOISE: Video cameras in this price range tend to have rather high noise, and on top of that, they're usually 8 bits per color channel. This can result in some highly visible shadow noise that almost pixellates when the brightness is just on the edge of a bit-threshold. You can see some of our plates doing this.
An HVX-200 and all its brothers and sisters in its price range simply don't have the horsepower for full pixel, high dynamic range, high resolution, uncompressed production that you need to do truly professional green screen. Green screen is ultimately a scientific process, and is one of the most demanding things you can do with your camera. Regular live-action images are MUCH easier for your camera to handle, so for regular filmmaking, your camera is fine, don't feel bad.
We have nothing against the HVX-200 or its brothers or sisters — come on, we shot a whole DVD set about visual effects on it — but it's important to really understand what the limitations are. It's fine to own your own camera for regular filming. For green screen, you should consider renting the very best you can afford — and make every decision right, which is where we come in.

Signal Interruption to Router HELP
New(ish) customer here. Fairly happy except that the signal to the router is frequesntly interrupted, requiring me to close and open my browser several times. Obviously something up here. Have shut router off overnight, etc. still happens at the beginning and during each session. Do I need a service call? FIOS is new to this neighborhood.
Wow that's a bit overwhelming. her ya go:
What do you mean by "signal interrupted"? The wireless signal?
No, although I assume it is out if the hard wired desk top isn't revceiving a signal.
The MOCA signal from the ONT to to the router? The fiber signal from the CO to your ONT? Can you be more specific?
I am asuming the MOCA signal is out because the COto ONT signal is out. Although I have never gone to the garage to look at the box. my guess was the fiber signal to the house was being interrupted.
When this happens, what are the lights on the router doing?
Sometimes all are out, sometimes one greenlight is on, not blinking. Sometimes a few are on, not blinking. Often re-opening a browser (where i have always received a message the internet connection is lost) will begin the happy little green light dance on the router and reconnect to the Internet. Sometimes only a router reset does the trick.
Does the internet LED stay green? Or does it turn orage. Never have seen an orange light on the front of the router. See above.
How are you connected to the router? Wireless or cat5? Do you think we unenlightened users are supposed to know what a cat5 connection is? I am connected to the router via an ethernet cable less than six feet in length.
How is the router connected to the ONT? coax or cat5?
Again, what's with this cat5 business? There is a coaxial cable to my router from the (ONT?) box in the garage, about 20 feet away, same floor.
When this happens, what are the lights on the ONT doing? Haven't checked yet, but next time it freezes i will.
Does the Network (fiber) LED stay green, or does it turn red? YOu're talking about the ONT aren't you? See how I've learned? Again I don't know.
Likewise, what is the MOCA light doing (if you have a coax connection to the ONT).? It seems, oh sensei, that I will have to check the ONT to get a before and after idea of what is going on.
Granted all this is an irritant only, but DSL was steady, and I was told the FIOS signal was constant unless there are bigger neighborhood or system problems. -
Constantly getting green screen, help - flash
As I am watching some videos online, I get green screen and the audio scratches. The video than quickly jumps to the end. It happens to me everywhere else youtube. Sometimes it lets me to watch a video for 20 minutes without interuptingi it and sometimes its like 5 seconds, I have to refresh the page after I get that green screen. Sometimes the collor is not green, its just a whole mess of mixed gerey color (white and dark spots randomly everywhere in the window)
I am using mainly chrome/mozila I have installed opera too, just to be sure.
i7- 4790K / GTX 770 2GB / 1080P monitor / 16 GB RAM / 2x SSD RAID 0 / dual monitors- 1080Px2
I do not know what to do, I tried using all those browsers, reinstall flash several times and nothink has helped. Disabled the hardware acceleration, increased the memmory flash can store on my computer.

what does it mean when you turn on your tv and the screen is green and you can't get any broadcast?
The Green screen usually means there is no signal to the TV.
There are two likely causes:
1). The TV is connected to the STB incorrectly if you are using component Cables. Make sure that audio r and audio L (red and white) are connected to the same input as the component video. Make sure the component video cables are correctly connected,
i.e. Py to Py, Pg to Pg and Pb to Pb at both ends. IIRC on component cables, synch is on the Green cable, so if you misconnect that one, you will get no picture at all.
2). Many TV's have more than one HDMI input, try switching the inputs from the remote control, and see if you can find the one you are actually connected to. -
I am displaying status (traffic signal ) in output screen in tree display
hi all,
i am displaying status (traffic signal ) in output screen in tree display but instead its displaying <b>@08@</b> like text format....is there any need of conversion....
but it works in normal ALV grid layout.
please suggest a solution....... !
regards.
sivaram. You need to do the following three steps in order to have "status" indicators on your ALV list:
(1) Add a status or exception field to your itab definition, e.g.
TYPES: BEGIN OF ty_s_outtab.
TYPES: status(4) TYPE c. " status field for LED / traffic light
INCLUDE TYPE KNB1.
TYPES: END OF ty_s_outtab.
DATA:
gt_outtab TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_s_outtab
WITH DEFAULT KEY.
(2) Define the status field in the layout (LVC_S_LAYO):
gs_layout-excp_fname = 'STATUS'. " name of the status/exception field
gs_layout-excp_led = 'X'. " display LEDs, else traffic lights
(3) Loop over the itab and set the appropriate status:
LOOP AT gt_outtab INTO ls_outtab.
IF ( <condition is fulfilled> ).
ls_outtab-status = '3'. " green
ELSEIF ( <condition partially fulfilled> ).
ls_outtab-status = '2'. " yellow
ELSE.
ls_outtab-status = '1'. " red
ENDIF.
MODIFY gt_outtab FROM ls_outtab.
ENDLOOP.
reward points if it is usefull....

Live Green Screen Broadcast and Record - Which Software and hardware? DESPERATE
I want to setup a stand (for example in a shopping centre) where I can give the opportunity for people to star in their own movie and they will get a DVD straight after them being filmed.
Below is an example of what I mean:
There is a green screen with a toy car, big enough for a child to sit infront of the screen. A parent pays me for their child to star in their own movie. The child sits in the car for 3 minutes playing with the steering wheel and pretending to be in a race. This 3 minutes is recorded on a video camera, as well as the green screen being chromakeyed out showing the child in a race on a big TV that draws the crowds. Straight afterwards the customer is given a DVD of their movie.
further spec needed:
I want high definition footage for the Movie on DVD
I want to be able to record this footage as it is being shot - 4-5minutes from when the child sits in the car to getting the DVD as to maximise income/hour.
I am wanting to know which software of the Production Premium CS 5.5 software will stream it live to the TV and record it on the DVD on the computer - I know that I can stream it to the TV and use a DVD Recorder to tape whats on the TV, but apparently that is unreliable. Thanks for the reply Mylenium.
None, plain and simple. You are looking completely in the wrong place. And it's not even a mere software problem. As a minor, you would still need a capture card to stream the camera via HDMI or professional video signals (HD SDI, YCbCr Component etc.) to your computer. It's nothing you can do with any standard graphics card. Depending on what else you require, you would probably need more specific hardware like a NewTek Tricaster or whatever...
Ok. I then will break it up. Is there any Prod Prem cs5.5 software that will live stream the chromakey footage to the TV? Surely there is a way to have a live feed from the camera to the computer without the need for hardware and then software that will stream it out to the TV - Apparently Wirecast can do this - does Adobe not have something similar ? I am going to be building a Computer around the above intended use, so a P2 Card Reader was suggested. The budget is R8000, or $800 for the exerything except the monitor.
That's impossible. Per spec, DVD can only record SD PAL/ NTSC. For HD, you would need a BluRay recorder and that's gonna cost you, especially since for what you have in mind only the more expensive BD-RE will do what you want and due to the strict licensing rules, BD recorders are far and few inbetween and thus expensive...
Mylenium
Thanks Mylenium for the clear reasons for this, I need a quality that is not pixelated to be displayed on a TV at home when the people take their DVD home to view. Suggestions on resolution?
HAs anyone else got any low budget solutions?
Some Context: I am teaching myself everything in order to do this - unemployed and know i can make this work though. I have never been involved in the field before I got this idea so I have great gaps of knowledge here. -
Flash Player green screen crash
When i'm trying to watch a movie in online player that uses Adobe Flash, im getting green screen for fev seconds, then stuck and crash. Green screen appears sometimes after 5 sec from start of the movie, sometimes after 15 min. I checked on Firefox and Chrome(with pepper flash and normal flash), both the same crash. In task manager I noticed, that plugin-container.exe or one of chrome.exe's take 25% of my cpu (1 core) when they stuck. Also when there is a green screen, time on player goes 50x faster. Tried reinstalling flash and graphic driver, both don't work.
My pc:
Windows 7 64 bit 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 960T Processor, 3000 MHz (4 cores)
2x2 gb Kingston DDR3 1333MHz RAM
Msi 870A-G46
Gigabyte HD 6770 1gb GDDR5 (newest non-beta drivers)
120gb Kingston Hyperx SSD sh103s3/120g
OCZ CoreXStream 500W
Flash player version: 13.0.0.182
I know, my English isn't best.reinstalled 2 times, i saw Your other posts
@edit On some players movie just skips, for example: there is a 1:37 , video stucks, and next i see 1:55 instead of 1:39, it happens few times in row (on some players it's with green screen but after 5-10 sec it changes to very pixelated black-white screen, like old tv without signal, but more pixelated), then video stucks and i need to refresh page. Tried watching many movies in about 10-15 players, only youtube works, because, i think, that it uses html5.
Any ideas?
@edit2 I disabled web shield in Avast, because i couldn't view pages, and I think that helped with flash player too.
@edit3 Yes, turning off Avast web shield helped not only with flash player but also with downloading errors and no page loading.
