Internet Access rights in java API

hai
Iam trying a new project network administrator. It has to maintain the rights to access the net from the server. i.e Iam using a windows server. The Internet is connected to the server machine. There are 5 local machines which are connected to the server machine through LAN. The server machine IP is given as a gateway of the local machine. Then the internet is accessed by the local machine which connected in the LAN.
My project is to create a java program in the server machine to give the rights for local machine to access the internet. Is there is any API related to internet access rights please reply for me or if there is any other ideay to do this project reply for me

Java is not forcibly the best choice to administer a Windows server.

    When in doubt, Google before asking.
    Here's an excerpt from a good article by Joel Spolsky about how simple disruptions affect other's productivity (from http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/fog0000000043.html):
    Let's say (as the evidence seems to suggest) that if we interrupt a programmer, even for a minute, we're really blowing away 15 minutes of productivity. For this example, lets put two programmers, Jeff and Mutt, in open cubicles next to each other in a standard Dilbert veal-fattening farm. Mutt can't remember the name of the Unicode version of the strcpy function. He could look it up, which takes 30 seconds, or he could ask Jeff, which takes 15 seconds. Since he's sitting right next to Jeff, he asks Jeff. Jeff gets distracted and loses 15 minutes of productivity (to save Mutt 15 seconds).
    Now let's move them into separate offices with walls and doors. Now when Mutt can't remember the name of that function, he could look it up, which still takes 30 seconds, or he could ask Jeff, which now takes 45 seconds and involves standing up (not an easy task given the average physical fitness of programmers!). So he looks it up. So now Mutt loses 30 seconds of productivity, but we save 15 minutes for Jeff. Ahhh!

  • Step by Step to access custom Java API in Application Service.

    Hi Experts,
           I have a situation to access the custom Java API in CAF. The Java API fetches the data from MDM. I need to get the data from that API and and use it in the CAF Application Service layer? Is there a way to access the JAVA API in the Application Service Layer? If so please do help me out. Step by Step solution would be appreciated.
    thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Ketan

    Hi Ketan,
    You can do it in two ways.
    1. You can create your own custom class in the ejbmodule which you can see in the Navigator view.
    2. You can have a ear having the custom class. This ear will be in a separate DC and CAF will have dependency to it.

  • Internet Accesses Freeze Java Application

    I have been programming a Java application, which is actually an instant text messaging system, that obviously makes internet accesses.
    The thing is, I have got this JFrame, with JScrollPanes, JTextAreas for messaging, and whenever the user presses the magical 'send' button; till the reply comes, the window freezes; you know it turns into grey.
    The way I send the messages is just to call the method that makes the connections and writes the data.
    How should I modify my code that my application should not freeze while waiting response? Is there a way to decrease the priority of a method or something?
    Thanks in advance..

    To clarify a bit.
    When you press the button an event is generated and put into the
    event handling queue (which handles all awt/swing events such as redraws/resizes etc). The Queue is processed by the event processing
    thread which pulls the button pressed event from the queue, finds
    the associated eventHandlers and calls them. What this means is that
    any code inside your event handler is run in the Event handling thread
    which causes it to not be able to handle any more events until the
    code in your handler is finished. Therefore all refreshes/button presses
    /resizes etc. (everything to do with the GUI and some other bits too)
    stop responding until your handler returns. Creating network connections
    can take a fair bit of time which means your handler takes a fair amount
    of time which means that the GUI locks up for a fair amount of time.
    Right, that there is the reason your GUI stalls.
    now, as pkwooster said, the way around this is to create a seperate
    thread that handles your connections to the internet. At the simplest
    level this thread can be created inside your "button pressed" event handler
    . For more complex solutions you will need to find someway of notifying
    a running thread that you have more work for it.
    pkwooster also said that there is a lot of code in this forum on topics
    related to the task you are attempting. You might wish to take his
    advice and look for it.

  • Access to Attribute Type via Java API

    Hi,
    I'm writing an aplication in Java to access out OLAP schema and display certain DIMENSION/LEVEL and ATTRIBUTE values. This is working out really well but I'm hitting one issue at the moment which has me stumped.
    When I display a Dimension value in a table I want to default the attribute we display to a sensible display value. In AWM there is a field "Attribute Type" which offers drop down selections for "User", .... "Member Short Description", "Member Long Description"...
    See the General Tab under Attributes for a particular Attribute. Looking at the Help text for the "Member Long Description" I see the following.
    "Long descriptive names typically used by Oracle Business Intelligence tools for displaying dimension members in selection lists, crosstabs, and graphs." Looks perfect for what I want. My Dataware house architect already has an Attribute for each hirearchy
    marked with this property so in theory I should be able to look for the Attribute in the Dimension with this property and bingo I have my default display Atttribute!
    The problem is I seem to be able to find api's to access every aspect of the MdmAttribute object except this particular property.
    Here is a snippet from the OLAP api sample code augmented with some println's of my own:
    if (mdmAttr.getName().equals(name)) {
         System.out.println("Attribute : " + mdmAttr.getID());
         System.out.println(" name : " + mdmAttr.getName());
         System.out.println(" desc : " + mdmAttr.getDescription());
         System.out.println(" s desc: " + mdmAttr.getShortDescription());
         System.out.println(" type : " + mdmAttr.getType());
         System.out.println(" type id: " + mdmAttr.getType().getID());
    return mdmAttr;
    None of the avaiable APIs of MdmAttribute seem to fit the bill.
    The question is ... is there an API somewhere I can call on the MdmAttribute object or an associated object that will give me back the "Attribute Type" as listed in this dropdown. Note that getType returns DataType!String which denotes the fundemental type of the Attribute (int, String etc) rather than this abstract Attribute Type property we need. Not listed here is the getDataType() api which also returns DataType!String and seems to be equivalent to the getType api.
    Regards
    Fergal

    One small clarification if its not already obvious. We are using the OLAP Java api's directly ... not via BI Beans.

    Fergal

  • (how) can I access Java APIs from web-page-hosted JavaScript?

    Can I access Java APIs from a web-page via JavaScript if I have a JRE installed on the client machine? And if so, how?
    Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

    John L. wrote:
    Can I access Java APIs from a web-page via JavaScript if I have a JRE installed on the client machine? But they soon removed that functionality. Can you guess why?
    Because people were using the File/IO classes to easily steal or remove files on the harddrive, among other such niceties. You do NOT want to have such control from a web application. People will abuse it.

  • Multiple Data Sources and Accessing External Java APIs

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a couple of questions for which I was not able to find satisfactory answers in the forum search, so here they are. I would be really grateful if you can help us out with this.
    1. Accessing two Data Sources in the same report: We have a requirement to access two data sources in the same report, and use the data from one source to run a query on the other source. Our product (OIM) has its own DB. And it integrates with BPEL (another Oracle application) for some functionality. BPEL has its own DB. A few reports need data from both these repositories. For simplicity, consider that we need to join two tables, but one table is in OIM DB and the other is in BPEL DB. I guess such a join is not possible. So to work around it, we would like to run a query against one DB and then use the results to run a query on the other DB, which will basically simulate the join by running two queries.
    Is something like this possible in BIP? If not directly available, can you suggest something which can act as a work around to achieve this?
    2. Calling External Java APIs from BIP: We need to call some external APIs (for achieving Data Security) 'before' we run the queries in BIP. Basically the Java API will specifya set of keys which will have to be used in an 'in' clause. I looked at the section "Building a Data Template" in the BIP User's Guide (http://bipublisher.us.oracle.com/doc/prod_docs/BI_Publisher_10_1_3_3_3/bip.1013/b40017/T421739T434255.htm). As far as I can see, it discusses how to invoke a PL/SQL procedure using <datatrigger> but the usage is not clear to me. Is there any other document that discusses this in detail? Also, I am not sure if it is possible to access Java APIs. Has it been done before? If yes, then can anyone provide some sample code (sample report bits) which I can refer to to get this thing working?
    Also, the data coming from the Java API may not be in the correct format. We may have to do some additional processing (like converting data in a Java Object to something like comma separated list to be plugged into a query). Is that possible? What will be the best approach here?
    Sorry for the detailed post!
    Thanks,
    Jatan

    Yes you should be able to use both - for example using a Flash Variable to pass in the URL of the XML that you want to load.
    FlashVars are only supposed to be passed in on startup and they are defined as part of the OBJECT/EMBED tag for the HTML.
    Actually it was possible to update FlashVars at runtime in Xcelsius 4.5 with certain JavaScript calls but not in Xcelsius 2008 (because Adobe Flex which Xcelsius 2008 is based on does not allow the same mechanism).
    FYI, for those that are interested in Xcelsius 2008 you pass values into/out of Xcelsius at runtime using External Interface and JavaScript instead.

        What is the process of accessing  .NET or JAVA SDK ? is there any separate editor for java and .net ?
    Thanks

    Using object tags is the correct way and only way to download the plugin and let the client decide whether he can download it r not. There is no way to install automatically
    I dont think there is a way to install automatically without a user intervention coz, it can open the floodgates for potential hackers.
    Can u cite an example about which programs can be installed automatically and why do u want the plugin to be installed automatically?

  • Java API for CVS access

    Hi,
    I am looking for a third party Java API which i can use to connect to a CVS repository and perform code synch up operations with the repository. If anybody has any informations. Pls let me know.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply. I did try jcvs. I am still trying to get it running in my system. That apart, i am not sure if jcvs exposes any of its API's that I could use to connect to a CVS repository. I did not find any API documentation with it. I am finding it painfull to go thru its source code to find out what its core classes are and how I should call them.
    Anyways, there should be other third party APIs in the www. And I need to get my hands on them.

  • OES 11g:  Java API to access policy store

    Hello
    I am trying to use the OES Java APIs to create application policies.
    My OES server is running on a server, and I'm trying to develop the policies on JDeveloper on my workstation. Policy store is in an Oracle DB. I've copied the jps-config.xml file from the server, and reference it in my JDev project.
    How do I create a connection to the Policy store to be able to use the oracle.security.jps.service.policystore interfaces?
    Do I have to go through creating a JpsContextFactory to get to the policy store? If I'm using the JpsContext, then how can I acquire it for the server instance of OES, and not a local (in JDev instance?) Or, is there somewhere I can set the connection strings for the DB policy store to allow me to get directly to the store?
    Thank you.

    Try a jps-config.xml like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone='yes'?>
    <jpsConfig xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oracleas/schema/11/jps-config-11_1.xsd" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://xmlns.oracle.com/oracleas/schema/11/jps-config-11_1.xsd" schema-major-version="11" schema-minor-version="1">
    <property name="oracle.security.jps.jaas.mode" value="off"/>
    <serviceProviders>
    <serviceProvider name="policy.rdbms" type="POLICY_STORE" class="oracle.security.jps.internal.policystore.OPSSPolicyStoreProvider" >
    <property name="policystore.type" value="DB_ORACLE" />
    </serviceProvider>
    </serviceProviders>
    <serviceInstances>
    <serviceInstance provider="policy.rdbms" name="policystore.rdbms">
    <property name="jdbc.driver" value="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"/>
    <property name="jdbc.url" value="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:orcl"/>
                   <property name="jdbc.user" value="DEV_APM"/>
                   <property name="jdbc.password" value="Passw0rd1"/>
                   <property name="root.dn" value="cn=oes_domain,cn=JPSContext,cn=jpsroot"/>
    </serviceInstance>
    </serviceInstances>
    <jpsContexts default="default">
    <jpsContext name="default">
                   <serviceInstanceRef ref="policystore.rdbms"/>
    </jpsContext>
    </jpsContexts>
    </jpsConfig>
    And update the jdbc connection values appropriately for your system.
    Note that this is an insecure way because the password is stored inside this config file in plain text. A better way is to put the password into the wallet, but this should get you started.
    Once you got this working you can replace the user and password properties with the following:
    <property value="oes_sm_key" name="bootstrap.security.principal.key"/>
    <property value="oes_sm_map" name="bootstrap.security.principal.map"/>
    and copy the wallet (cwallet.sso) file
