Internet Exporer compatibility

Problem: Site has just a few validation errors that come up that I am working on, but I don't think they are causing the problem I am having in Internet Explorer. It is mainly an issue of how the site comes up. It views okay in IE9, but if you hit the compatibility tool then the text under the pictures move up to the side, and the headline in the header moves up on top of the logo. Is there a hack to make 7 and 8 render the same as 9? I did pop in the HTML5 shiv which actually fixed a problem I had with the footer....but it didn't fix the main content or header problems.
I'm using (JUST upgraded from CS4 last night) DW CS5.5 on a 64 bit windows 7 pc.

Why do you think HTML5 shiv will help you with an XHTML doc type?
Sort out your code errors. That's usually the first line of defense against x-browser compatibility problems.
Missing "alt" attributes on images are not critical. But you have some orphaned <p> and <span> tags to resolve:

Check in IE7 & IE8 mode if you must support older browsers. However, IE9 Compatibility mode is rubbish.

Fix compatibility issues with Internet Exporer in Dreamweaver CS4

My webpage looks great using Firefox but I get the following warnings regarding IE - and the pages do not load correctly.
Here are the errors that Dreamweaver identified:
1. <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
2. behavior:url(iepngfix.htc);
3. display: inline-table;
I'm hoping I'm supplying you with enough info to help me. If not, please let me know and I'll supply additional info.
My images are not loading and some of my text is missing. However, the page is not completely blank.

I won't ask where you got this CSS layout. But it looks really bloated for such a simple design scheme. If this were my site, I think I'd start over with a more streamlined CSS layout like the link below:

Reason: CSS Height property is restricting. When text size is increased in browser (zoom text only), content spills out of your # container div.
2) Go through your code and remove all MS-O styles. You've got quite a few of them. MS Word styles don't play nice with HTML. In the future, when you need to copy & paste from MS Office into DW use Edit > Paste Special > Text only to remove the junk code.

Is there a way to set internet explorer compatibility on my Mac (in Chrome or Safari)?

I am trying to view a website that requires IE compatibility. There is a Chrome extension called IE Tab but it only works on a Windows machine, not a Mac. Any idea what works on a Mac?

If at all possible avoid that website. I would be concerned about undesirable things going into your computer. In the Windows world Internet Explorer is a common conduit to damage computers.
If they are shortsighted enough to do this I would be very concerned about other mistakes they may be making.

Adobe reader X, internet exporer 9 and windows 7.

I have installed Adobe reader X, internet explorer 9 an windows 7 on my computer.
I want to view a pdf file from the net and I get a message "Cannot find adobe Reader".
What can be done to fix this?
I have tried re-installing, look for plug-ins, searched web for answers, set preferneces etc etc.
It doesn't work.
Does someone have any correct answers?

Reader X came out before Explorer 9. Try downloading the pdf via right clicking, then opening in Reader directly. This should work until Adobe addresses any issues with IE9.

Can't download iTunes usint Internet Exporer 11

I have purchased a new computer and am trying to download iTunes to download iTunes. I am using Windows 8 and Internet Explorer version 11. On your support site, I have tried to contact you by clicking on iTunes "Contact" link. I receive the following message:

Since I AM using Internet Explorer, I can only assume you don't yet support IE11?
I have tried all of the suggested fixes for failing to download (POP-UP Blocker for one), but nothing has worked. After I insert my email address, I click on the "DOWNLOAD NOW" button and nothing happens. No error message, no download,, just nothing.

I have very similar problem. Suddenly Firefox stopped work - It was working few days after ver. 4 update. I was looking everywhere for some solution but nothing worked.
- uninstalled firewall - did not worked
- added full exception for Firefox into the firewall - did not worked
- Firefox reinstall - did not worked
- Firefox complete reinstall (registry included) - did not worked
- IPv6 diseabling - did not worked
- diferent proxy options (no proxy, system proxy, autodetect proxy) - did not worked
- new firefox profile - did not worked
- complete coockies, history... deleted - did not worked
- there is only one solution which partly works - I have used public proxy addresses for Firefox but the ping is (750ms), down/up (0.8MB/0.2MB originaly (10MB/2MB) and yes I have tried different proxy server from different countries from my included.
- IE is working perfectly and without proxy
- other companies browser - did not worked too
- only IE is working
- I have used three different malware, trojans, spyware, anti-virus programs and nothing
It seems to me as hopeless situation or very clever move from Microsoft, I am forced to use IE - at least this works

Internet Exporer 8 and Office 2007 Supported?

We currently have a client running BOE XI R2, and they are considering deploying Internet Explorer 8 and Office 2007. They use Web Intelligence as their main reporting environment.
Does anyone know if IE 8 and Office 2007 are officially supported at any BOE version? I have been unable to find the Supported Platforms document on the new SAP site.

In any case, Office 2007 is supported on SP5. IE 8 is not supported. The newest supported version of IE is 7.

Internet Exporer cannt aply filters to lists

We're using office 365,
A sharepoint database has been made made of several tables.
Its all working nice however, none of the web brouwsers i use, seams to be able to filter tables.
The pages show a dutch error (so far trying to set the site to english has no effect either)
"De standaardweergave van de lijst is actief omdat de browser geen ActiveX-besturingselementen ondersteunt."
This error means "The default view is active because the browser doesnt support ActiveX"
Well we're using both Internet Explorer and we are using Firefox, some custommers would use firefox too btw.
I need this to work, but how ?.
Whatever i tried (changing IExplorer (updating it) security settings etc) no luck so far.
Has Microsoft disbanded ActiveX, but still office 365 uses it ???

For a better trouble shooting, I suggest you do as the followings:
1. You can try to access the other page, such as site collection and other list view to check if it works.
2. If you have tried to enable the activeX in the security settings and the issue still exists, I suggest you can reset all the Internet Explorer Settings to test whether it works.
3. Also, I suggest you can use Internet Explorer Developer Tool to see if there are some script error in the page.

Internet Exporer 6.0 IE6 not displaying images

I understand that this is not a Dreamweaver problem, but I'm
hoping that someone can help.
I have a very basic site built for a client.
All that is on the index page is a Banner graphic and a
single photo. Both are Jpeg format.
Running in IE7 and Firefox everything is fine.
But users that are using IE6 are experiencing that the images
are not displaying at all, just a placeholder with the red x on the
top left.
Other sites are fine displaying graphics on these machines. I
have not experienced this issue before, so any recommendations or
feedback would be grateful. There are no issues with active X or
Firewalls as far as I can see on these machines.

If it is still acting up in IE (the most strict of the browssers on html errors) after you clean it up, post back and we can take a closer look.

Ive imported my "favorites" from Internet Exporer, but I can't find the tab to open and display them.

I found my favorites on my own, your information was no help.
It would be nice if there was one tab that would open Favorites as in explorer and one for print with the option of print preview and page setup. Firefox needs to be more intuitive without having to drop down menus to find your task.

[Outlook 2013] Apps for Office and Internet Explorer 11 (IE11)

We have the following configuration:
Windows 7 Professional,
Internet Explorer 11,
Microsoft Office 2013 (32-bit),
Microsoft Exchange 2013 CU6,
Symantec Enterprise Vault 11.
Patch level Microsoft Until 03-oct-2014, so very very recent.
What is the problem, in Exchange its possible to use "Office Web Apps" for integration with OWA. This works very good and we dont have any problems with OWA and the Office Web Apps within OWA Enterprise client.
But, in Outlook 2013, almost every "App for Office" crashes with a popup from Internet Explorer 11. When we open the App, we get a loading.... and after a while A popup with the message "Internet Exporer stopped working".
This is with every App i tested. And it can be reproduced.
What we tried:
Proxy settings;
Re-install Office 2013;
Internet Zone settings;
Browser compatibility modus with zones;
Reset internet explorer settings;
Various reg-hacks for IE security;
GPO settings for untrusted locations of Office Web Apps.
And lucky? No.
So we went back to IE9, and it works like a charm. No problems at all. But Unfortunately, IE9 is not an option due to company apps written for IE10+.
But when it works outside Outlook 2013 in IE11, but not inside outlook with IE11, there must be a problem somewhere with Outlook 2013/IE 11 integration. And actually, the currents Apps we don't need in Outlook 2013 (until snd quarter 2015, then we need them).
So for this time we configured "Block Apps for Office" GPO setting and depoyed it. And... In Every Office components Apps are disabled, but NOT in Outlook. So the GPO is not working for Outlook.

How To turnoff compatibility mode settings in IE 10

Hi,
I have Domain and Forest Functional level is 2008 R2.
I got a requirement from a project to turnoff IE10 compatibility mode for windows 7.
Can anyone help me with an ADMS template which I can import to view settings in GPO.

Hi Deepak,
To turn off Compatibility View, enable the following setting:
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Compatibility View\Turn off Compatibility View
Regarding ADMX files for IE 10, if we have installed it on our DC, we don’t need to download it. If not, we can visit the following website to download it.
