Interoperability of applications deployed on WLS 6.1 and 8.1

when a 6.1 client talks to 8.1, A date incompatibility issue was found due to the use of a specialised class in the appication existing at 8.1 end. The cause of this issue is the change of the package in the JDK used.
However, if the scenario was the other way round i.e.
When a Client deployed on 8.1 and invoking the service which is on 6.1, there are no issues.
please provide your suggestion for this situation.

Without a stack trace it is difficult to say.

  • Application deployment wizard- General Information-.Publisher and Software version fields - HOWTO build installation to support?

    Hi all,
    I have built an installer (using WIX) that gets deployed by SCCM Application Deployment.
    The Publisher and Software version fields on the "General Information" page of "Create Application Wizard" do not get populated for the specified msi.
    I looked in Orca at the Property table for the msi and the Manufactuer and ProductVersion values are filled in correctly.
    Where is the SCCM "Create Application Wizard" looking for the "Publisher" and "Software version" values within the msi?  It would be very useful to the SCCM Administrator if these values get filled in automatically by using
    the values within the msi.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    If you could get the Manufactuer and ProductVersion values from Orca.
    Use the following command creates a new application with the Manufactuer and ProductVersion.

    Please advise
    Thanks & Regards,

    How do you think we can help?
    We don't even know which version you or your client use.
    We actually don't no nothing about the app and the environment.
    What has changed since the last deployment?
    Have the other deployments tested with FF and IE?
    Which versions of FF,IE and Chrome do you use?

    I logged into console and browsed to 'Home >Summary of JDBC Data Sources' but not able to locate DashboardDb. Please let me know where to find DashboardDB on wls console.
    Also, please let me know how to configure the app to not to auto-deploy JDBC data sources

  • Session getting lost between two applications deployed on two WLS versions.

    Hi,
    Jdev version 11.1.1.5.
    I am facing an issue of session being getting lost. Let me explain the scenario.
    Our client has a legacy application(xyz) running on Web logic server(10.3.3). We have developed an application which was deployed on Web logic Server(10.3.5).
    The Legacy application will call the developed application using URL invocation. In the legacy application, the logged in user information is stored in session and the same parameter is appended to URL to call the developed application.
    In the developed application, we have a servlet which reads the URL and based on the parameter appended to it, we set the context of the application. Everything is working fine till here.
    But, in the developed application, we have a link to navigate to the legacy application. Once navigated, in legacy application if the user again calls the developed application, the session which was set earlier is lost.
    Because of this, the context is not getting set in the developed application.
    Is there a way, I can resolve this issue? OR can I raise SR with Oracle to look into it. Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Umesh

    Thanks Frank for the reply.
    Session sharing was not configured in WLS.
    I was searching for Session sharing and I found this article written by Lucas Jellema. http://technology.amis.nl/2012/01/18/sharing-session-state-between-jee-web-application-through-weblogic-session-descriptor-of-sharing-enabled/
    Here it is mentioned that for session sharing, we need to check the Enable session sharing in weblogic-application.xml.
    My question is do we need to make this change in both the application? i.e Legacy application and developed application.
    And it was mentioned in the article that both the web app were deployed to a single Web Logic Server. But in my case the Legacy application is deployed to 10.3.3 and developed application is deployed to 10.3.5.
    In this case will the session sharing works?
    Any how I will let our client know about this change and will give a try.
    Thanks,
    Umesh

  • Application deployment on WebLogic 10.3.2

    I am trying to understand the best practice to deploy web applications on WebLogic 10.3.2. Is it recommended have a managed server for each and every deployment or can we have multiple deployments under one managed server. Will there be any performance issues when multiple deployments are running on one managed server? Also can we have each deployment on one managed server listen on common http port?
    Please advice.

    **Is it recommended have a managed server for each and every deployment or can we have multiple deployments under one managed server.
    --You can deploy multiple applications of one single managed server.
    **Will there be any performance issues when multiple deployments are running on one managed server?
    --There will not be performance issue as such; however you have to make sure that the system and server configurations meets the requirements.
    --WebLogic Server allows you to configure a work manager where you define the rules and constraints for your application to boost the performance.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/config_wls/self_tuned.html
    **Also can we have each deployment on one managed server listen on common http port?
    --Just to make sure if I understood correctly, did you mean one deployment per managed server listen on same http port?
    --If yes, each managed server will have its own unique http port. So application deployed on that will be using a port associated with that managed server.
    --In case if you want all the applications to use a same IP/Port, you can use proxy which will route the requests to these applications deployed on different managed servers.

  • ADF application to access WLS data source .

    Hi,
    I have developed an ADF application in Jdeveloper 10.3.3 and deployed on Weblogic server. Now I want my application to access the data from data source created in WLS. I have created a data source (ds_demo) using the WebLoigc server option Services -> JDBC -> Data Sources.Target has been set to the default server where application is running.
    Now I want application to access the database over the data source ds_demo. How can I do that?. Please provide any pointers.
    Thanks & Regards,
    MB

    You should be able to use Java code like this to directly obtain the WLS data source if you're using a POJO/DAO :
    Context ctx = null;
    DataSource ds;
    Hashtable ht = new Hashtable();
    ht.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    ht.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://localhost:7001");
    ctx = new InitialContext(ht);
    ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("DataSourceJNDINameHere");
    This assumes you're deploying this on the same server hosting the datasource and that it's on port 7001.

    I've found solution for this error: it is necessary to add to web.xml following:
    <listener>
    <listener-class>com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener</listener-class>
    </listener>
    I've added this, and now get a deployment error:
    [Feb 8, 2011 6:04:33 PM] Exception: NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/adf/view/faces/event/industrial/VirtualFunctionKeyActionEvent
    [Feb 8, 2011 6:04:34 PM] Operation failed with error: oracle/adf/view/faces/event/industrial/VirtualFunctionKeyActionEvent

    Hi, Graeme.
    Seems there is an existing CR on something related from v10.0: CR353213
    * WLS 10.0 - EJB 3.0 deployment fails when parsing class for Stateless annotation
    According to http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/issues/known_resolved.html, this is not addressed in 10.3
    Closely review your classpath, and then (assuming you have access to the source) review the body of your ejb. If it is related to this CR, you may be able to workaround the issue by shortening the body and split large methods into more sub-methods.
    I hope this helps,

  • Issues with Deployment to WLS Running on Virtual Box

    Hi
    JDeveloper 11.1.1.6, BPM 11.1.1.6, WLS 10.3.6
    I just installed the SOA & BPM Development VM 11.1.1.6 available at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/soasuite/learnmore/vmsoa-172279.html
    Domain selected : dev_bpm_spaces
    My Host OS is : Windows 7 Prof 64bit (Total 16GB Ram)
    Memory allocated to VM : 8GB, Processors : 4
    I am able to install everything, start the servers and access the consoles.
    Everything looks fine.
    But when I am trying to Deploy a BPM Application to the WLS in the VM, I am getting the below Exception. (Tried to Deploy from Local JDeveloper)
    When I see the WLS Console -> Servers, I see the following servers.
    AdminServer, bam_server1, UCM_server1, WC_Collaboration, WC_Spaces, IBR_server1
    First, I started only the AdminServer and tried to Deploy the BPM Application, and I was getting the errors shown at the end.
    Then I started the bam_server1, UCM_server1, WC_Collaboration, WC_Spaces servers on the VM and tried to deploy again. Then I got the error only for IBR_server1.
    I cannot see the server IBR_server1 in the 'VM Control Center', but it is only shown in the WLS Console Servers.
    So I tried to start the IBR_server1 from the WLS Console. I got the following errors
    ------For server IBR_server1, the Node Manager associated with machine LocalMachine is not reachable.
    ------All of the servers selected are currently in a state which is incompatible with this operation or are not associated with a running Node Manager or you are not authorized to perform the action requested. No action will be performed.
    So my doubts are as follows
    1. Only AdminServer is not enough to Deploy the BPM Applications? Why is it trying to connect to other servers while deploying?
    When I created a separate Domain manually (local machine - not the VM), only with AdminServer I was able to deploy BPM Applications.
    2. If IBR_server1 is also required, how can I start it?
    3. I could not see the Node Manager start script in the VM (in the same folder where the start scripts for WLS are present : /home/oracle/bin)

    Hi Vlad
    Thank you for your response.
    I did deploy the BPM Application to only AdminServer. Infact only AdminServer was shown in the JDeveloper Deployment Wizard.
    Even then during the Deployment, I think it is somehow trying to connect to the other servers from AdminServer.
    So I copied my BPM Application code from my local Windows to Linux in VM and deployed from JDeveloper in Linux with only AdminServer running.
    It was still giving the same error.
    Then I started all the Servers and Deployed the BPM Application from the JDeveloper in Linux, then it got Deployed Successfully.
    Coming to the issue of the ORA-12505, I have Oracle DB Installed on my local system and is running on the same port 1521 as that of database in Linux in the VM.
    I think that is that causing the issue. When I deploy from local JDeveloper, it is trying to connect to the local database which is on same port but different SID.
    So it was giving that error.
    So my learnings are
    1. All the servers in the domain 'dev_bpm_spaces' should be running for deploying the applications.
    2. We should deploy it from the Linux, expecially when we have local database server running.
    3. I understand that the ports mapping between the linux and windows is already configured in the VM, but sometimes the BPM workspace is not accessible from the local windows.
    So it is better to use the Linux for development, deployment and testing.
    Thanks and Regards

  • ADF Application Deployment

    Hi
    I have an ADF Application built in JDev 11.1.1.2.0 and i am able to deploy the application in my managed server. My weblogic server version is 10.3.2.
    But when the same ADF Application, i am deploying it from JDev 11.1.1.5.0 into my managed server i am getting below error ---
    Weblogic Server Exception: weblogic.management.DeploymentException: [J2EE:160149]Error while processing library references. Unresolved application library references, defined in weblogic-application.xml: [Extension-Name: oracle.adf.desktopintegration.model, exact-match: false].
    What will be the possible error for mismatch in lib in my JDev 11.1.1.5.0 and weblogic server?
    Please help !!
    Sudeep

    To be clear are you saying you are deploying a JDev 11.1.1.5.0 application against a WLS 10.3.2 server? If yes do you realize each different version of JDeveloper requires a different version of WLS and ADF runtimes to be installed? As such a JDev 11.1.1.5.0 application requires a 10.3.5 WLS server with the 11.1.1.5.0 ADF runtimes installed, not a 10.3.2 WLS server with the 11.1.1.2.0 ADF runtime installed.
    More information on these combinations can be found here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-091111.html

    Hi,
    as read in this thread : Re: Always fail to deploy to server when (Create a Simple EJB Session Bean )
    >
    This is a known JDeveloper 11g bug. If you look into the packaged EAR file, JDeveloper inserts some entries into the weblogic-application.xml file to register some listeners to perform some internal tasks it needs to deal with.
    The issue is that these classes are part of the ADF runtime and installed as part of the provided ADF domain. They are not provided as part of a standard WLS installation. Thus when you deploy a JDeveloper 11g packaged application to a non ADF augmented WLS 10.3 instance, you get a Classloading error on deployment because the specific listener-classes are not available.
    The relevant bug # for this is:
    BUG#7487416
    EAR FILE PACKAGING SETS FIXED DEPENDENCY ON
    JPSAPPLICATIONLIFECYCLELISTENER
    I believe a fix for this will be provided in the first patchset for JDeveloper 11g.
    In the meantime, if you want to workaround it, extract the weblogic-application.xml file from the EAR file, manually remove the listener entries, put the modified file back into the EAR file and then deploy it.

    It solved the problem for me.
    But you should now get another problem, like some of us on this forum : ADFLogger will be missing. If so, please report to this thread for helping us : Standalone WLS server instance deployment failure - missing ADFLogger
