Interrogating modules in ear file

Hello,
Is there a way I can find information about an (undeployed) .ear files modules, perhaps by interrogating the application.xml file within it???
Thanks,
Adam

You can automate the process as an ANT script checklist, using the wlconfig task provided by weblogic Ant along with "query" subtask.
A simple example is:
<wlconfig url="${WLS_URL}" username="${WLS_USER}" password="${WLS_PWD}">
<query domain="${WLS_DOMAIN}" type="Application" name="your_application_name_as_given_on_console_while_deploying" property="any_name_to_store_result" />
</wlconfig>
<if>
<isset property="any_name_to_store_result"/>
               <then>
               <echo message="The application $MYAPP is deployed."/>
               </then>
               <else>
<echo message="WARNING: The application $MYAPP is NOT deployed." />
</else>
</if>
Hope this helps.

  • Adapter Module .ear file deployed

    Hi All,
    I have an adapter module deployed long back on my dev server.
    I want to retrive the same file from dev and deploy in on Quality server.
    Can you let me know the path where this .ear file will be present on the SAP XI server.
    Thx in advance

    Hi Ravijeet,
    We run under i5/OS (unix like) but I found my deployed Adapter Module under:
    DX1 is the instance name.
    sap.com is the vendor specified in the EJB module.
    EOLConvertBean is my adapter module
    /usr/sap/dx1/DVEBMGS70/j2ee/cluster/apps/sap.com/EOLConvertBeanEAR

  • Share persistence.xml file between two EJB modules in EAR

    Hello, everybody!
    First of all, I would like to say that I already posted this question in another forum:
    [http://community.jboss.org/thread/154128?tstart=0]
    But as I haven't got any answer from there and this issue is very crucial to me I'm posting it here too in the hope that I get an answer. So, here it goes:
    I have two EJB modules in an EAR module. I would like to know how to share a single persistence.xml file with these two EJB modules. If I replicate the persistence.xml file in the two EJB modules, the EAR project deploys ok, but of course that's not what we want. If I remove the persistence.xml file from any of the EJB projects, the EAR doesn't deploy properly. I'm stuck with this. I've already tried many kind of configurations but none worked. I really would like to have some help with this issue to proceed working. This is my EAR structure:
    solicitacoes-ejb.jar       (EJB session beans)
    solicitacoes-dao.jar       (EJB interfaces)
    solicitacoes-dao-jpa.jar   (EJB session beans)
    solicitacoes-ejbClient.jar (entities and EJB interfaces)
    solicitacoes-web.war
    META-INF/This is my application.xml file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <application
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee"

    ... 43 moreI need help with this issue. As you could see, the EJB container doesn't like to see an EJB module without a persistence.xml file. This is clearly a dumb decision though. I agree with it if there was only one EJB module in an EAR. But the container should have been smart enough to require only one persistence.xml file in an EAR module with more than one EJB module, and share that persistece context with the whole EAR.
    Acting the way it is acting now, the container forces us to duplicate the persistece.xml file and kill our application modularity. This is clearly wrong. I've already tried to put the entity classes and persistence.xml file in the lib directory of the EAR, but it didn't work either. The container needs to have the persistence.xml file in both EJB modules.
    I don't know if this is a JBoss implementation decision or if it comes from the Java EE 6 specification. Whatever it is, it goes against all good modular and good design decision. Please if some of you know how to solve this, took a little time to tell me how. I would be very grateful.
    Thank you in advance.
    Marcos

    Dear Mr. gimbal2,
    In another occasion I would not reply to such a 'helpful' answer like the one you gave me (yes, it is undoubtedly an answer because that's how you classified it in the beginning of your reply), but as today I have plenty of time here in my job, for this week we're not working full time as usual, I decided to reply to it.
    You have to completely overhaul your attitude.I really didn't know I was taking so personal on this issue to have to 'completely overhaul my attitude'. Thank you for pointing that out.
    In stead of calling the technology dumb, admit to yourself that perhaps you don't understand it properly and that your ideas of what is correct design perhaps is a little lacking. I didn't call the technology dumb because I stated very clearly that I don't know for sure if it is working this way. I said in the last paragraph:
    +"I don't know if this is a JBoss implementation decision or if it comes from the Java EE 6 specification. Whatever it is, it goes against all good modular and good design decision."+
    So, I let implicit the fact that the technology or the implementation of the technology is dumb only if it doesn't allow this possibility. Regarding the fact that your said that I should
    admit to myself that perhaps I don't understand it properly, where did I stated in my question that I understand it completely? It's clear in the last paragraph that I don't. If I'm asking that's because I have doubts. Maybe my ideas of what is correct is wrong, and that's why I'm here in this forum. But everyone with a good sense knows that what I propose in this discussion is by no means a wrong design decision. Where is it a sin to have more than one EJB module in a EAR and a persisntece.xml file shared for the whole EAR? Does everyone that has more than one EJB module in an EAR module need to connect to more than one database? Is it wrong to want to have your DAO implementation in a separate EJB module in order to make deployment easy and also changes, if you later want to replace that implementation with another one without affecting
    the other modules? I don't think that a design decision that seeks this is lacking. I don't think that Java EE today is a dumb technoloby, but everyone knows that before it gets to the present level, it was a technology known to have made big dumb decisions that the community latter corrected, with ideas like O/R mapping (Hibernate), dependency injection (Spring), Struts and lots of other examples that we all know. No one can deny this and lots of wrong things will continue to be fixed in later releases.
    Maybe when you rise yourself back to that level, you open yourself up again to thinking in correct solutions in stead of trying to hammer through your own poorly chosen one.To be sincere, I see you took very personal about this issue. You really shows to be someone that has no respect to other people and you judge them too. I must say that I got surprised by the way you answered my post. I didn't expect to get such sarcastic answer to what I asked. I personally don't act this way. If I can't help a person, I also don't try to ridicularize him.

  • How to change web-app display name within EAR file?

    Currently we are deploying an EAR file (which contains a web-app and an EJB) per

  • How do I convert an war file to ear file, deploying weblogic apps

    Problem Description: I have a war file from a legacy application that needs to be migrated to weblogic. To migrate this application to weblogic, we need a ear file. Reading weblogic doc. it says we needs to use ant utility on an exploded web content application folder/ directory to create the ear file. I need to covert the existing war file to ear file , if it is doable or create one from the scratch. I need to know how to do that in weblogic. Please let me know if you have any hints .
    Thanks

    HI,
    Please try the following to convert your WAR file into an EAR exploded archieve:
    *1).* Create a Directory in your file system.
    Example:
    /home/apps/MyFirstEAR
    *2).* Place the WAR file inside the above Directory. (Suppose your WAR file name is test.war)
    Example:
    /home/apps/MyFirstEAR/test.war
    *3).* Now create a "META-INF" directory inside "/home/apps/MyFirstEAR" directory
    *4).* Now create an "application.xml" file like following inside "/home/apps/MyFirstEAR/META-INF" directory:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <application xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" version="1.4">
    <description>Test EAR Example</description>
    <display-name>TestEAR Example</display-name>
    <module>
    <web>
    <web-uri>test.war</web-uri>
    <context-root>test</context-root>
    </web>
    </module>
    </application>
    *5).* Your EAR is ready now you can deploy the "MyFirstEAR" directory in the WebLogic Server.
    NOTE: if you want to place the "test.war" file also as an exploaded format content inside the EAR then you need to extract the test.war file and then in place of the test.war you can have "test" directory at the same place.
    You need to change the "application.xml" file like below in that case:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <application xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" version="1.4">
    <description>Test EAR Example</description>
    <display-name>TestEAR Example</display-name>
    <module>
    <web>
    <font color=red> <web-uri>test</web-uri> </font><br>
    <context-root>test</context-root>
    </web>
    </module>
    </application>

    This is what I was looking for: http://maveninjdeveloper.blogspot.com/2012/04/handle-adf-application-maven-ant.html
    It further references:
    - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/user.1112/e17455/deploying_apps.htm#BACIIDEJ
    - http://javaosdev.blogspot.in/2011/12/ojdeploy-documentation-for-tool.html
    The only issue now is that Oracle JDeveloper release 11.1.2.2.0 (version being used) does NOT seem to support Ant while release 11.1.2.1.0 does. This necessitates a further kluge to make things work. The amount of difference between versions of JDeveloper is quite amazing.

  • Problems while deploying a war file as a part of ear file

    Hello!!!
              Is there a weblogic or Sun reference document to find out the correct way to specify library paths or class paths when one is trying to deploy a WAR file as a part of an EAR file?
              I have been having lot of trouble and very sporadic too in getting stuff to work correctly.
              -Eagle

    OK! I found something the very hard way. For my J2EE application packaged as an ear file containing one ejb module in an ejb-jar file and one web module in my .war file; further, noting that my web module is a struts application; it appears that the dependent jar libraries should be placed in the EAR file and a MANIFEST classpath entry should be added to the ejb-jar file's manifest - even for the WAR to work correctly. the presence or absence of dependent jar files in the "lib" directory of the WAR file makes no difference for the working of the WAR file.
              Is this behavior that I am seeing on my weblogic 8.1 server a documented and expected behavior? I am not too sure. did anyone else have such an experience?

    Can you please paste your "application.xml" file, Looks like you are using a Wrong DTD/XSD declaration in this file or May be ou are using Wrong Tags in this file.
    The Standard "application.xml" should look something like below, as described in the following link: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=1952

    Hi Ivaylo,
    to answer your first question, the EAR that I am trying
    to deploy gets created as part of the publish step. When
    I look in the application.xml file of this EAR I see a
    version attribute with value of 1.4 in the application
    tag, can we assume that this implies J2EE 1.4 compliancy?
    One thing about this generated EAR is that it does not
    include any java code (VM or otherwise). When I generate
    the EAR by hand (by exporting the EJB project as an EAR
    file there is a JAR for the actual java code put in
    there, but when generating the EAR via publish there is
    only some xml and manifest stuff put in the EAR, with the
    result that it's only 2KB or so in size. I have specified
    a J2EE module dependency from the Enterprise Application
    project to the EJB project, but is there something else I
    need to do to ensure that the java code (jar) gets
    included in the EAR of the Enterprise Application when
    attempting to deploy via publish?
    Thanks for the other suggest, "Import J2EE Archive".
    However, I am having difficulty locating this button.
    When I look at the "Deploy View" window I see on the left
    the Workspace and External Deployable Archives trees,
    and on the right there are "Setting for Updating
    SCAs/SDAs" radio buttons, as well as "Error Strategy"
    radio buttons, but no "Import J2EE Archive" button.
    Thanks for the info about SDM by the way, I was wondering
    why I was not able to launch it (there is still a remote
    gui shortcut, which should probably go away).

  • Error in deploying, EAR file does not contain SAP_MANIFEST.MF

    I just upgraded to SAP Netweaver Developer Studio 7.1 from 7.0, and the process of creating and deploying an EJB archive seems to be quite different. Here are the steps I am following:
    (1) I create and build an EJB Project called foo.
    (2) Export the EJB Project foo as an EJB JAR (not sure if this is necessary)
    (3) Create an Enterprise Applications project called fooEAR, with target runtime set to SAP server. When I am prompted for J2EE Modules to add, I select foo (created in step (1)).
    (4) Export the EAR project fooEAR as an EAR file. When I am prompted for which EAR application I choose fooEAR.
    (5) Try to deploy the EAR created in (4) using Deploy View -> External Deployable Archives -> Add, then choose the fooEAR.ear as the target. But I get an error message:
    Wrong SDA/SCA archive
    Error while loading archive ...
    Archive has no entry META-INF/SAP_MANIFEST.MF
    I looked inside fooEAR.ear, and there is no SAP_MANIFEST.MF file. How can I create an EAR that has such a file ?

    Message icon - Error An error occurred during activation of changes, please see the log for details.
    Message icon - Error weblogic.application.ModuleException:
    Message icon - Error java.security.PrivilegedActionException: weblogic.common.ResourceException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: weblogic.common.ResourceException: No credential mapper entry found for password indirection user=ABC for data source XYZ"
    Any suggestions will be really useful.
    Thanks.

    Looks like you are not using jdbc datasource but jdbc url. You should use jdbc data source as the connection type. right click on your application module and select 'Configurations...' then edit the configurations and select 'jdbc datasource' from the list box.
    Then you should edit the applications deployment descriptor (you find this in the application properties) and remove the check mark from the 'Auto generate and synchronize ...'. This means that you have to define the data source on the stand alone server as jdev now does not do this your you (with the wrong credentials). This is the way to go when you deploy to a stand alone server as you can't guarantee that the connection information is allways the same for all servers you deploy to (e.g. production uses a different DB).
