Interrupt DML replication while DDL continues? Resume DML after some time.

Is there a possibility to interrupt DML replication for a specific period (let's say half an hour) while DDL statements are still replicated. After that period I want to resume the DML replication at the SCN it was interrupted.

I don't know if there's a way to do what you're trying to do....
But, in my opinion, that does not make sense.
Streams treats the redo log by SCN. It also keep track of a multi-version data dictionnary of the objects (because they can change over time). Moreover, DML and DDL are not independent. For exemple, if you increase the length of a column and delay that DDL on the target db, DML may crash because the column is not large enough...
You could try having 2 different capture, propagation and apply (one for DML and another for DDL) but i'm not optitimistic on that scenario...

Portege 3440CT freezes after some time while the files are being copied

Hello all :)
It seems I'm having the same problem as missred in this thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=19232 (on the bottom). Unfortunatelly I can't reply there that's why I'm writing here. My laptop version is 3440CT.
My try was to make a win98 bootable HD drive with i386 directory on it, boot from this disk and start the installation with winnt.exe. OK, it works but while the files are being copied after some time it just freezes. I tried it both with one partition and i386 on active system partition and with two partitions and i386 on a separate non-system partition. I don't have FDD or CD for the laptop.
Any ideas what is wrong? Is it possible to install XP on the same disk the XP installation is started from?

PS: My other tries were:
- complete XP installation on another computer and then switching the drive
- XP installation on another computer up to the point it first resets (after finishing of coping the installation files) and then switching the drive
both unsuccessful. I also changed the drive to another one as I suspected it's phisically damaged. Now I'm out of ideas ;)

It should work out this way, so........ is it really freezing or did you forget to include "smartdrive" ?
Be sure to include the file in the root-directory of your HD and put the right command in your autoexec.bat file

Replication DS6.2 - DS5.2 stops working after some time

After weeks of unsuccessfully trying to solve a replication problem, I hope that someone of this forum can give me a hint.
I have 2 masters DS5.2 and two masters DS6.2.
Replication is working fine for some days. E.g. last time the replication was working until 29.11.
But at some point the replication stops working and I get the following errors in the errors log:

I tried to change a password. But the replication failed again and since than the replication is working again.

I tried to reproduce the problem.
At the moment everything works fine and I can do many changes.
But I know that there is somewhere a problem and the replication will stop working again in the next days.
Can you give any advise?

Here is an explanation of the failure:
1. Prioritized replication was introduced with DS6.0;
2. When a suffix at a DS6 instance is initialized from a DS5 instance, and then an operation is performed at the DS6 instance that uses prioritized replication, replication fails;
3. By default, password policy uses prioritized replication to propagate auth-failure-lockout state updates (e.g., adding a pwdFailureTime attribute value on a failed bind attempt);
A work-around:
Disable DS6 supplying auth-failure lockout state using prioritized replication. In any password policy having auth-failure-lockout enabled, set
pwdIsLockoutPrioritized:FALSE
Note that DS6 enables prioritized lockout by default, in particular, it enables this feature when migrating a password policy received from a DS5 instance. Hence, for this workaround to be effective, the prioritized lockout feature must be disabled in any DS6 password policy that has auth-failure lockout enabled, which could include:
1. The default password policy at any DS6 instance (cn=password policy,cn=config);
2. Any password policy originating at a DS5 instance, including those in data imported into a DS6 instance, received via replication total update initialization, or added at the DS5 instance subsequent to the DS6 instance initialization;
3. Any password policy added to a DS6 instance.
Additionally, do not set any prioritized replication rules for other attributes.
It is possible the bug can still be triggered in the case of a DS6-only topology that was initialized from DS5 data.
Contact Sun support for the status of a fix for the bug. The CR is 6645742.

I have been using traditional DAQ for some times and I swtich to DAQmx recently. In traditional DAQ, I can start a task, pause it for a while and then resume the task. But in DAQmx, I didn't see the same function. Is that any way to do the same thingin DAQmx? Thanks.

The thread details how to create a pause trigger in software. A better option may be to create a pause trigger in hardware. I'm not sure what type of data acquisition task you are doing, but the method should work regardless. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Software update in itunes times out 420mb. Is there a way to resume downloading after connection time out?

Hi,
While downloading an update for the iphone, my internet connection momentarily stops.
This interrupts the update download, which then needs to start from the beginning again.
Is there any way to enable the download to pick up from where it was interrupted?
Its a 420 mb update so it never finishes before the connection drops out.
Any help would be appreciated.

How to continue the loop after getting the exception NO_DATA_FOUND

I am inserting 2000 employees attendance data into table through procedure by validating the shifts assigned some times if employee doesn't have shift it raising NO_DATA_FOUND exception, so now I am inserting the details of the employee into one table as a log.
my question is if 2000 transactions are inserting if exception raised at 1000 record as "NO_DATA_FOUND" is it remaining records will insert into the table? or it will exit from the procedure and stops remaining 1000 transactions?, please advice if any other way to continue the remaining transactions

Do your select statement in a seperate begin...end block, you can cath the excption in the block and do your logging there.

Apple TV froze. Unplugged and re plugged, and now it is continuously checking for date and time. If I bypass it by holding menu, I only have a settings icon, I lost everything else, what do I do?

My Apple TV froze while trying to access Netflix. I unplugged the Apple TV from the wall and re plugged it. Now it stays on the loading time and date setting. After 10 minutes, I held menu, and hit restart (as the troubleshoot said). Same problem is still occurring with the continuous "checking for date and time". And if I hold menu to bypass this, I only have my settings and computer icon, all other icons have disappeared. Not quite sure what to do, any comments would surely help.

I would try plugging in the HDMI from the ATV to a different HDMI port on your TV and even trying the ATV on a different TV altogether...sounds like the HDMI port on your TV might be bad or a bad connection. Keep in mind you'll need to switch the TV input to the new HDMI port

How to resume by pressing some key on the keyboard or mouse?

Hello, I have a usb keyboard and mouse. When I go into S3 sleep mode (suspend to ram), I can resume by pressing the power button. However I would like to resume by pressing some button on the mouse or on the keyboard. This works in windows, so from a hardware perspective this should be possible. Is it possible to 'arm' the keyboard and/or mouse such that they can bring my computer out of sleep mode?

since still no similar cases have been reported recently. As S.Sengupta suggested, you could perform a system restore for good measure.
if your issue persists, please ensure if there is third-party software or service interruption. You could refer to Clean Boot to achieve it:

Beyond that, this issue can also be caused by the ACPI of your BIOS. If the issue still occurs in Clean Boot, I suggest you upgrade the BIOS.

sorry for opening another thread on this.
I think I have a performance issue with workflows attached to document sets in SharePoint. And I say “I think” because people keep telling me that this is the way it just is.
The user creates a new document set, which triggers a workflow in which the user has to confirm/review/approve a series of tasks. The time it takes from clicking the OK button on those task form to the workflow status moving to the next step is about 4 seconds.
And visiting that status page within those 4 seconds brings up the infamous “Note: Due to heavy load, the latest workflow operation has been queued. It will attempt to resume at a later time.” message.
Hitting Refresh in the browser after those 4 seconds will make the new workflow status appear and the red text go away.
Is that normal? Is that the performance that everyone else is seeing as well?
I struggle to see why simply moving a workflow from one task to another should take that on a machine that isn’t doing anything else at the time.

I have a standalone (non-clustered) SharePoint box, 4 CPUs, 8 GB of memory, more than half of that available, acting as application server and wfe; only the database is on different box.
(2)
The CPU only goes up to 18 or 19%, so CPU does not seem to be the bottleneck. Half the RAM is also still free.
(3)
The workflow is designed with Nintex, and has about 9 flexi and review tasks – the last 2 of them in a loop iterating over typically 3 or 4 items.

Looking at the logs it looks like the processing in Nintex only takes about 1 second – I don’t know where the other 3 seconds are going.

There is nothing obvious in the logs.

We’ve looked at all the “theoretical” improvements around throttling and batch sizes etc. – none of them appeared make any difference. And the workflow is so small that it looks like my tasks gets executed straight away. The problem appears
to be that the execution takes too long(?) and therefore has not finished by the time the page get redrawn.

I am running perfmon and I can e.g. see one(!) workflow being loaded into memory – as expected as I am the only user.

I am seeing a total of 3(?) SQL queries being executed(?). I get the Bytes Sent/sec spiking at 25K, and Bytes received at 18K. But is this good or bad or a bottleneck?
Where do I take it from here?
I have been told that “[…] most customers have no issue with this as they are used to the way SP operates and it can be slow at times.” Is it really that bad?
If it is worth watching more performance counters then I’d need to know what to compare them to.
Is there something else I am missing?

Before considering an additional hardware try to change following configurations for workflow:
Increase Throttle Size
Increase Batch Size
Time Out
Workflow Timer Interval
AutoCleanUpDays
Increase Throttle Size
The Workflow throttle setting controls how many Workflows can be processing at any one time on the entire server farm. By increasing the throttle it will allow the number of Workflows execution or can be initiated at a time.
Use below PowerShell command to get the current Throttle Size:
Get-SPFarmConfig | Select WorkflowPostponeThreshold
Use below PowerShell command to set new Throttle Size:
Set-SPFarmConfig -WorkflowPostponeThreshold 100
Increase Batch Size
This is the size that determines number of events processed for a single Workflow instance. Default value is 100, but it can be range from 1 to any number.
Use below PowerShell command to get the current Batch Size:
Get-SPFarmConfig | Select WorkflowBatchSize
Use below PowerShell command to set new Batch Size:
Set-SPFarmConfig -WorkflowBatchSize 200
Time Out
This decides the time out of the Workflow event. The default value is 5 and can be any integer. The time is in minute.
Use below STSADM command to get the current Time Out value:
stsadm -o getproperty -pn workflow-eventdelivery-timeout

This setting is applicable at Web Application level and not the farm level. The workflow timer interval specifies how often the workflow SPTimer job fires to process pending workflow tasks. This interval also represents the granularity of delay timers within
your workflow. If a timer is set to delay for one minute, but the interval timer fires only every five minutes, the workflow delays for five minutes, not one minute.
