"Invalid Character" error when executing a 13KB query with ADO

Hello
I want to execute a query using an ADO Recordset using the Open method. When calling this method, an ORA-911 "Invalid Character" raises. I can say that the SQL runs fine, because using the SQL*Plus utility it works.
I have a 11g client installed, and the target database is in a 9i server; my PC uses WinXP SP2.
What could be wrong?

Well there's a 32K limit in Oracle. (But it can be overcome using dynamic sql).
You basically end up putting the text in an associative_array which has to be sequential.
There should be info on askom.oracle.com as I initially posted the question there.
13KB of characters is a lot of query text, and it could easily be the provider.
Try the microsoft ADO provider and see if you get the same problem.
There was another company which had a provider (which you had to pay for) , can't remember its name , but it seemed to be the best.
I would seriously question why you need to pass a 13KB string to oracle though.

I am having problems when opening a BW query with Crystal Reports, the strange thing is that it only happens with
the bo user I have created. If I use a user that already exists and that has SAP_ALL authorization it works.
I don't know if this could be an authorizations issue, but I have created a role with all the authorizations stated in the manual.
The error I am getting is the following:
"An error occurred while generating a new report template. Error in UNKNOWN.RPT file"
Does anyone know what this could be?

I cannot access the system now. But I think it is not an issue of authorization, because I assigned all the good user's role to the bo user,
and even with that, it still don't work.

Invalid Device Error when using Labview to comunicate with Jorway 73A

I'm having a problem when trying to get Labview to communicate with the Jorway 73a CAMAC crate controller. Keep in mind while reading this that I'm still fairly new to both the CAMAC system and Labview. I've downloaded the drivers for the Jorway 73a off your site and run into a "Invalid device" error whenever I try to read or write from the CAMAC crate using the read or write VI's. Oddly, the initialize/clear/inhibit VI runs without error. When reading cmjwdll.c I can tell that this error occurs whenever "the device selected is not a JW 73A". Not sure why I'd be getting such an error, and only with the read/write VI's, not on the initialize/clear/inhibt one.

You may want to contact [email protected] for this question. Looking at the driver (http://zone.ni.com/idnet97.nsf/9b2b33e1993d877786256436006ec498/398258c61da17663862568ab005fbcbc?OpenDocument) It states that these drivers use 32-bit dll's that only work on 95/NT and are provided by Jorway.

Invalid Cursor Error when executing a form

I am getting the following error

Try executing the procedure independently (say from sqlplus) to see whether the procedure works fine.
Alternatively, try commenting out the calls to the utl_smtp packages to see whether the procedure works.

Invalid character error when importing metadata to OWB 10.2

Hi,
Currently, I am upgrading OWB from 9.1 to 10.1 to OWB 10.2.. I can successfully export metadata from 9.1 to 10.1 but when I import it into 10.2 from 10.1, I get an error message API0402; Illegal Character- not allowed. Can some one please let me know if there is any resolution for this error.

1.whether you can create a file on the mdl directory and give read, write access on the folder to the OS user.
2. Give read write access on file converter.properties to OS user

Linked Server - Getting Error when performing Cross Instance Query with joins

Hi Guys,
I've successfully created a Linked Server that connects a local DB Engine with another DB Engine through an ip over an extranet. I am able to run simple Select statement queries on the Local DB
Engine and get results from the linked server. However when attempting to perform more complex queries that join tables from
the linked server with tables from the local DB server, I get the following error message after several minutes of execution:

Both are SQL servers. Linked Server is SQL2008R2 if not mistaken. Local DB Engine is SQL2014.

I just got word from a user that the query ran successfully this morning but took 15 mins to complete.. does it ring a bell to you in terms of issues that may be causing this?
This kind of behaviour would suggest something makes the query "time out" or stop abruptly.. How can I further investigate it pls? Error when executing the program RBDMIDOC with Message type HRMD_ABA

I finished the integration between CRM and HR
Now I am able to replicate the employees and the organizations, but when I created a schedule job for the program RBDMIDOC and message type HRMD_ABA the system gives me warning and message: no data selected for distribution even if I try to run the program using SE38 I am getting the same error message
I already activated the message type using BD50 and activated the Change pointers using BD61

'PLS-00363: expression..' error when executing a stored procedure with in o

Hello,
I'm trying to run a PLSQL script containing an ORACLE API but its failing on compilation with the message:
'PLS-00363: expression '<expression>' cannot be used as an assignment target'.
As far as I understand its connected to my IN-OUT parameters but I can't figure out which (I must admit I'm still hiking up a steep learning curve here and I've cut and pasted someone elses example and modified it).
I would be most grateful if one of you pro's could read through my code and advise..

i guess you are trying to store value in your IN parameter.
here is an example

You may need to use something other than the contact_name in the order by in the row_number function if you require the values in specific columns, but given your sample data, I have no idea what that might be.

OK, I could train the users not to do this, but with the potential for every net user on the planet using my site, it might take me some time to speak to all of them.
So how do I stop Intermedia from throwing up the error? I have written a quick parser to try to strip out offending entries, but that is not, imho, a good solution, as I do not know all the rules that will break it.

You need to write a text query parser. Check the Query Translator code samples from http://technet.oracle.com/sample_code/products/text/content.html

Error when executing function in MSS launchpad report ???

In MSS lanchpad report, we have the following problem:

Basically in MSS report, I select employees in the first iView which calls another ABAP query in back-end to display back-end t-code inside iView of portal through ITS service. What could be the reason for it? please advice.

Please try converting the standadrd-delivered scenario RPT0, then check
out the things.
Also problem may be that your function code names contain
the character '&'. This causes a problem when the selected function
code is passed to the ITS-WebGUI as a URL parameter. Please use only
standard characters (A..Z and _) when you define a function code.
Then it should work.

the report category type is set to "RPT0". Therefore, when the

as I am seing # is last character..so remove # with " " (single space) and then use the TRIM fucntion.

XML Publisher Report ends with Warning -- Invalid Character Error in XML

Hi,
I have migrated the standard report 'Invoice Print Selected Invoices' from Reports 6i to XML Publisher. It has to print a Euro(€) in the report. It does not even generate the XML File fully. It gives the below error in the XML File. When i remove the special character, it works fine.
Please let me know the settings to ensure that XML file also accepts the special characters. How do i get the Euro symbol printed in XML File with out giving Invalid Character Error?

I have gone thru the Document 222663.1 and it says that the Developer 6.0.8.23 is required to handle this problem. We are using almost the updated Developer version i.e., Developer 6.0.8.25. So, this should be handled automatically, but it still errors out. Please suggest.

Invalid character error while activating DSO - Please help

Hi experts,
I'm getting invalid hex character error when loading a text infoobject in my DSO. Repairing data records in the PSA is not an option. Changing the data in the source system is also not an option. I've tried many of the methods suggested in other threads, but am unable to get it working (ABAP code, "ALL_CAPITAL" etc). We are on an unicode system.
Can someone provide some clean code to eliminate the illegal hex characters (00-1f) in my transfer rule routine. Basically, replace the illegal hex characters with space or an acceptable character.
