Invalid EFI file path when dual boot

I'm trying to dual boot arch linux with windows 7.
I have windows 7 and my plan for partition is
sda 4:0 128g <- SSD
├─sda1 4:1 0 70g 0 part <- windows 7 already installed.
├─sda2 4:2 0 4g 0 part <- /swap
├─sda3 4:3 0 500m 0 part <- /boot
├─sda4 4:4 0 40g 0 part <- /, /usr, /usr/local, /opt
sdb 2:0 500g <- HDD
├─sdb1 2:1 0 150g 0 part <- windows D drive
├─sdb2 2:2 0 350g 0 part <- /var, /home, /tmp
Also, my motherboard supports UEFI boot.
Following Beginner's guide, I formatted sda2, sda3, sda4, sdb2 typing
# mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda2
# mkfs.vfat -F32 /dev/sda3
# mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda4
# mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdb2
and I mounted /boot on sda3.
After installing grub, I typed
# grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Then to make windows7 menu on grub, following Linux menu entry , I modified /etc/grub.d/40_custom file as

Finishing arch installation and rebooting, I could see the windows 7 section on grub boot menu,
but if I choose windows7, it prints error

Actually, there was one more error message at first line,
but seeing this error message and reinstalling again and again,
I think something was twisted, and now I can't boot windows either...
So I'm reinstalling windows.
What is the correct way to dual boot windows and arch?

It looks like your Windows system was booting in non-EFI mode and so does not have a bootloader on the EFI system partition.
When you have re-installed Windows, check the partition table from the Arch ISO (`parted -l`) -- if there is no EFI system partition (type EF00) then you should install Arch in non-EFI mode (don't use FAT for /boot) and install GRUB using:
# grub-install --target=i386-pc --recheck /dev/sda

[SOLVED] Can't boot Windows 8 using grub2. invalid EFI file path

English is not my native language. Please excuse typing errors.
I have just successfully installed Arch linux with grub2 as its boot manager. I
followed the arch beginner guide. I've used grub before and I'm familiar with
it, so chose to use grub instead for efistub. I installed os-prober and
ran grub-mkconfig to create the grub.cfg file. The problem now is that I recieve
an error when I try to boot windows 8. I have two drives (/dev/sda and /dev/sdb)
and I believe both are EFI-systems.
However, it's not very important for me to use grub, so if booting into windows
8 is easier using efistub, I will try that.
The computer is ASUS ux32vd with a hybrid disk with 25GB on the SSD and 500GB on
the hard drive. I believe the SSD part is used by Windows.
This is the first error I recieved when I tried to boot windows.
error: can't find command `drivemap'.
error: invalid EFI file path.

Then I tried to follow this post

entry "Windows 82". And I got a new error:

EDIT:
I gave up trying to make grub work, so I uninstalled grub and deleted all the grub files I could find.
# pacrem grub-efi-x86_64
# rm -fr /boot/grub
That last one I came to regret later on. So I installed rEFInd using the archlinux beginners guide. When I then tried to boot into windows It told me that /boot/grub/x86_64-efi/normal.mod was not found. I then reinstalled grub-efi-x86_64 and copied /usr/lib/grub/x86_64 to /boot/grub. Now everything works fine.

The EFI stub loader is a Linux-only boot loader; however, it is possible to use the EFI stub loader in conjunction with a separate boot manager, such as rEFInd or gummiboot. In such a configuration, you'd use the boot manager to select the OS to boot (Windows or Linux, and possibly the specific Linux kernel), and the boot loader (the Windows loader or the EFI stub loader built into a specific kernel) will then take over booting the OS. In Arch, this is often easier to configure than is GRUB, since GRUB is very complex and its automated tools to help with setting things up often get it wrong.
This is the first error I recieved when I tried to boot windows.

The "drivemap" command in GRUB is generally used when booting a BIOS-mode boot loader, and in fact your "Windows Recovery Environment (loader) (on /dev/sda2)" and "Windows 8 (loader) (on /dev/sda4)" GRUB entries are both built as for BIOS-mode Windows installations -- but the fact that your disks both use GPT means that Windows won't boot in BIOS mode on your computer. (This is one of the many things that the GRUB setup scripts can get wrong.)
Then I tried to follow this post

Both your "Windows 8" and "Windows 82" entries refer to an EFI boot loader file called EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi on your EFI System Partition (ESP). This should be correct, but your Boot Info Script output doesn't show any evidence of such a file. Sometimes Boot Info Script misses such things, so you may want to check it just to be sure. Your ESP is /dev/sda1, and it looks like it's being mounted at /boot/efi by default, so check for the /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft directory tree, and for /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi in particular. If that file isn't present, then something is wrong -- perhaps you mistakenly erased the ESP when you installed Linux, thus wiping out the Windows boot loader; or perhaps the file was accidentally deleted somewhere along the way. (Note that on FAT, which the ESP uses, case is irrelevant, and in fact case varies between the filenames reported by Boot Info Script and what's recorded in your configuration files.)
You do have another boot loader file that may be a duplicate of the Windows boot loader: EFI/BOOT/bkpbootx64.efi. This filename is generally created by Ubuntu's "Boot Repair" tool, which IMHO can do as much harm as good, especially on a system that's not booting Ubuntu. If you ran this tool, though, it's conceivable that bkpbootx64.efi is a copy of the Windows boot loader, so copying it to EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi might get things working. OTOH, the Windows boot loader relies on other files to do its job, so if they're not present, copying the Windows boot loader to its original location won't be sufficient.
If you can't get things working based on the preceding suggestions, I recommend you run a Windows repair tool. These are accessible from a Windows recovery disc. Such disc images are readily available on the Internet, but I don't happen to have any links handy. Try Microsoft's own site; images obtained from random third-party sites might contain malware. Once you've done this, chances are the computer will boot directly into Windows. You'll then need to either restore GRUB as the default boot loader or install another boot loader or boot manager. You can use the Windows "bcdedit" command to do the former, as in:
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\arch-grub\grubx64.efi
You'll need to type this from an Administrator Command Prompt window.

Problem in Loading - Invalid Report File Path

Im using CR which came as a bundle with VS2005. I deployed my ASP.NET project on online server. Sometimes, When users try to load the reports, they got an error says "Invalid Report File Path" appears at the top of the report, and no data shown. If i reset the IIS, it return to work fine again.
Usually i got this error when there is a lot of hits on the server and reports..
Can you plz advice on that???

The formula must always return some value. When a conditional test produces no result and this code is responsible for the RETURN in a formula, the error occurs. Make sure that the condition returns a value in all cases (trap errors).
Example:

Invalid Report File Path Error

I have included several Crystal Reports as embedded resources in a Visual Studio 2010 C# project. When I try to run the application on a client PC I receive an invalid report file path error. Why am I receiving this error if the rpt is embedded in the manifest?

The following code now works on my development machine. It obtains the server name and database name from the configuration file. When I run on my client PC, however, it prompts me to log into the database. It provides the correct server name but the database name is blank and integrated security is not checked. The database name field is not enabled so I cannot provide a value.

                   Thanks for responding. I load the report using the Report.Load(Filepath) command. The reports are located on a seperate machine within the network. The error occurs after the form has been loaded, parameters have been determined and margins have been set, but before the report actually gets displayed on the screen.
Here is the last breakpoint I can find before the error occurs.

Invalid report file path.

I have a .NET C# Web App with embedded Crystal Reports (version 10.2.3600) running on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition (Service Pack 2). Every few days the reports generate errors and we have to restart IIS to get them to run again. I cannot figure out what is causing the system to lock up. The error I am getting is 'Invalid report file path.' Do you know what would cause this to happen?

Invalid file path when building

Okay so I try to build a DVD folder and once it gets to the "opening project" part I get an error message that says "invalid file path". I'm going to try and burn it later once I get a chance, just wondering if anyone has any insights before I try.

Glad to say (for me), that I have not seen these two errors. Doesn't help you, but I do have one thought. "Invalid File Path," indicates that Encore could not find the path specified. In searching for a solution to that error, I'd check to see if the path, that you designated, exists, exists in the exact spelling that you specify, and that it is available - not on an external that is powered down, not on a network, etc.. Check your spelling religiously. Check your "\'s" your "/'s" and everything about the path. Check in Explorer that the two match, and that that path is available. Put it on an internal HDD and make sure that it is not open in any other program. As a test, Copy a file to it. Open that file. If all goes well, then Delete that test file, before you Export to that folder.
It's probably a matter of dotting the "i's" and crossing the "t's."

Cross-reading files in a dual boot machine

Hi --
I just finished installing and setting up Windows 8.1 Enterprise on a Windows 7 Ultimate laptop. Windows 8.1 was installed on an unused disk partition, making this laptop a dual-boot machine.
The machine is not attached to a domain (at least not yet or for the foreseeable future), but it does have several local user accounts (on the Windows 7 side -- so far it just has one account on the Windows 8 side).
The Windows 7 partition can be accessed from Windows 8 (it shows up as Drive E). This is rather convenient, because that partition has several very large folders containing thousands of document files, which can be easily opened from either OS now.
However, there are a number of these data folders that are locked down to just one local user. And this is where I'm having the problem.
User Bob on the Windows 8 side is a different user than user Bob on the Windows 7 side. So if Bob, running Windows 8, tries to open one of these folders on the Windows 7 partition, Windows won't allow him access.
And I can't figure out how to give him access. From the Windows 8 side, the folder's security settings show that the owner is an SID that Windows 8 doesn't recognize. And from Windows 7, I don't know how to give "the other Bob" access to the folder.
I thought about setting up a Homegroup, but I don't think that will work, since at any given time either the Windows 7 "PC" or the Windows 8 "PC" will be offline.
Is there a way to map a Windows 8 user's SID into a folder on the Windows 7 partition? Or another way to allow a Windows 8 user access to a Windows 7 folder -- short of copying all the data over to the Windows 8 side?
For the time being, this needs to remain a dual-boot machine. I currently have it set up with identical application sets on both sides. Windows 8 is being made the principal OS, but in case of any problem affecting usability, the user will boot into Windows
7 to get his work done.

Hi Chuck,
When you boot into one system, another system partition will appear as data drive instead of OS drive. Thus you could access it.
From your description “However, there are a number of these data folders that are locked down to just one local user. And this is where I'm having the problem.”, we need to confirm some information:
1. What data you cannot access?
2. What's the type of this user? This issue occur just on one user not all, right?
3. What's the exact prompt information when you attempt to access those data.
And then, I have to tell you there is no method to map one user SID into another user SID. Even they have a same user name, they still are have different identifier. I would like to suggest you use different name.

When dual-booting with Windows 7, Mac OSX time settings reset every reboot.

I have recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my mid 2010 MacBook Pro via BootCamp (Running Mavericks BTW). Everything runs grean and have not experienced any problems on the Windows side, but I have a problem with Mac OSX now. When I am using Windows 7, and I reboot into Mac OSX, I find that my time settings are wrong. It seems like my time zone has changed, because the date is correct, as well as the minutes, but the hour is always wrong. When I go to Date & Time in System Preferences, and my time zone is correct, but I still have to chage the hour in the time. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to stop it would be greatly appreciated.

If you dual boot your Windows PC with OS X or Linux, you may have experienced a problem in which your clocks reset themselves incorrectly every time you boot into Windows. Here's a simple registry edit to fix that.
Essentially, the incorrect clock setting happens because OS X and Linux use GMT time while Windows tries to synchronize with your local time zone, getting confused when you reboot between the two. Apple's own Boot Camp drivers for Windows are supposed to fix this problem, though some users have noticed that it still happens even with the drivers installed, and some Linux users are left out in the cold. Furthermore, if you have a Hackintosh, you can't install the Boot Camp drivers, so you'll need to find another way around the problem.
To fix it, just hit Start and type regedit.exe in the search box. Hit Enter and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation. Right click anywhere in the right pane and hit New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name it RealTimeIsUniversal, then double click on it and give it a value of 1.
Lastly, reboot into OS X, then reboot back into Windows. You should now notice that your clock actually displays the correct time.

Folder or File path when f4 option on selection screen is clicked

can any one please let me know if there is a function module which can fetch folder name form the directory path when f4 option of selection screen field is selected. Currently I am able to get the file name using FM F4_DXFILENAME_4_DYNP but the requirment is like I have to select either folder name or the file name depending on user selection.

Full file Path when using FormFile in struts

i am uploading an excel file. All is doing fine but whatever file is selected by user by clicking the browse button, its does not retreive full path it retreives only the file name selected......

What would do a server side program that processes the file upload do with the client side path of the file?
The server side process (your Action class) would receive a stream of bytes (multipart data) that contains the file's contents as well as other info like size, content type etc.

Where is the highS2.xml located on the disk? If you add it to your project you should set its Build Action to Content and its Copy To Output Directory to Always in Visual Studio:

ITunes on macbook pro - resetting music file path when not on my network

I suspect I know the answer to this already, but I hope I'm wrong! :-D
I have my macbook a while now, but I've only recently started using iTunes properly.
I have a home network, which consists of my macbook pro, a dell laptop running XP, a Nintendo Wii, a Sumvision Netbox NAS 1TB drive and a Logitech Squeezebox Boom.
I'm using the NAS as my music storage, iTunes rips music and stores it here.
This is all good.
The Squeezebox Boom (for anyone who doesn't know) is a neat little Wifi radio/mp3 player, it streams radio from the web, and also music from the NAS.
The software that controls it is called the Squeeze center.
At the moment I have this software linked to iTunes, so when I add music to my library via iTunes the squeeze center automatically scans the music library and updates itself taking in music details, play lists, art work and all, it's a great system.
The problem I have is when I take my laptop anywhere, iTunes changes the iTunes music folder location automatically to the internal hard drive, which means when I get home again I have to reset the file path and iTunes then has to scan the folder and organise everything again.
not only that, as soon as the squeeze center sees the file path has changed it points at the new location (on the macbook hard drive) and looses the library.
so when I reset iTunes, the squeeze center has to rescan everything again also.
It's quite annoying.
I have a work around in that I can tell the squeezecenter not to look at iTunes and hard wire it to the location, but I'd rather not do that.
Is it possible to get iTunes to keep the NAS music folder as the iTunes Music folder location even when the macbook isn't on the network?
Or will it always change the folder when I leave the network.

I've had this problem for ages, only now it seems as though iTunes is no longer restoring my music folder to the NAS if I start it when the NAS is connected. This is proving a pain in the a** because I keep forgetting about it, going online and buying a load of music from the store and then I find I've got a gig to consolidate when I realise my music folder has filled up! Funnily enough, I've downloaded and edited an applescript that automatically checks every half hour whether or not I'm on my home network, if I am it mounts my network drive for me. I really miss the airport disk utility's automatic mount feature. What I think I'l do is create another one for iTunes, to serve as a shortcut to iTunes, but when it's run it will check to see if you're on your home network, if so mount the NAS (if it isn't already), if not, or if it can't mount it will ask you whether you want to run iTunes after warning you that your NAS isn't connected. The only potential problem I could see is when iTunes runs as a result of you opening a music file in Finder. However I'm sure we could associate the applescript 'shortcut' with music instead of iTunes? I'll post here if and when I'm successful.
