Invalid External Summary

Hi all,
"Invalid External Summary - External summary is referenced in the summary definition".
During creation summary folder with step-1 "I want to specify the summary meself". step-2 "Registering an external summary table". Step -3 I tried to mapped the item and got the error
And the "Have Discoverer recommend and create the best summaries" option slways disable in administrator. Please tell me how i can enable this option? I have granted all the priviliges according to the manual. Create table, view, procedures, alter, drop any materialized view etc.

  • Getting exception in log - Invalid external link base url

    Hi,
    I am using BI-Publisher Release 10.1.3.4 and I see that for all the reports I have in it, the below line is coming in my bi-publisher log.
    [092010_053617793][][EXCEPTION] Invalid external link base url: 'http://10.177.219.162:9704/xmlpserver/' -- the ip is my machine ip address.
    This line comes for every executing of the report. This is not causing any unwanted behavior but having an exception in log is always a concern from field.
    Can any one let me know what could be the reason for that exception?

    I come across the issue when I tried to view the BI Publisher report, the pdf report didnt load up and throws "[072811_123101921][][EXCEPTION] Invalid external link base url:" on the server console.
    with some the Acrobat error like "there is no page to display"
    Then I checked if the data was there or not in database table to which i had connected through the jdbc conection. I found that no data was present in the database tables. So i run the ETL process again setting some flags in the source database and then the data came up in the BI Publisher connected database.
    Then when I started Bi Publisher server and viewed the reports, it worked.

    I am using Disc Release 4.1
    I have registered a external summary in the Discoverer admin addition against my folders. My database version is higher than 8.1.6.
    I made sure that The options
    "Available for queries" = Yes
    "when do u want to use summary data" is set to "always, whenever available"
    are selected.
    But when i try to generate reports and try to see the execution plan it is querying the base tables rather than the external summary table.
    How do i solve that?

  • Macbook Pro, how to reset invalid external display resolution?

    Hi there. I have a question about the external display configuration.
    I recently connected my 2011 Macbook Pro 13" (10.8.2 Mountain Lion) to an external HD-TV using Thunderbolt to VGA adapter. After connecting the TV had 1920x1200 resolution which made the text and everything look very tiny. So I thought I'd lower the resolution a bit. But then I messed up and accidentally changed the resolution and refresh rate for the external display to one that wasn't supported. So the TV went black and gave an error about an invalid resolution. At the same time, on my Macbook screen I had only the background image and display settings dialog. No mouse cursor, no menu bar, no dock etc. So I couldn't do anything.
    I disconnected the Thunderbolt adapter and got my Macbook screen back to normal, but when I plugged it in again, the same thing happened. Invalid resolution on TV, just background image and display settings on Macbook screen.
    Now, this was just before I was going to give a presentation and it resulted in a very awkward situation with me franticly re-plugging the Thunderbolt adapter and looking just completely clueless In the end I had to borrow my colleague's laptop.
    So my question is: when this happens, is there a way I can reset / clear the external display settings back to defaults? They are obviously saved somewhere since replugging the Thunderbolt adapter didn't give me back my original resolution.

    A PRAM reset should solve that:

    Information stored in NVRAM / PRAM includes:
    Speaker volume

    Startup disk selection
    Recent kernel panic information, if any
    To reset your PRAM:
    Shut down your Mac.
    Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
    Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
    Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Invalid link message in Acrobat 7 but not in Acrobat X

    Dear All,
    When clicking on an invalid external link in Abobe Acrobat 7, I receive the following error message:
    The specified file ... does not exist.
    But in Acrobat X, nothing happens in the same situation and I don`t know how to enable this message.

    The binding determines whether the data in the field should be written to the data dom or not. A value of Normal indicates that you want the dta written to the dom and it will follow the hierarchy set in the hierarchy view of Designer. If you set it to None that indicates that you do not want the data written to the dom. You can bind the field to other inbound streams but that is another topic.
    The Data Dom is what is used to store all of the data in the form. It is what is used to make the data structure of the data file that is saved or submitted.

  • Summary Tables in Disco 3.1

    Using the Summary Wizard, I only have access to "Registering an external summary table". The other options are greyed out. How can I use the other options??

    Within the Discoverer User Edition:
    Tools -> Options -> Query Governor
    Then uncheck the record limit.

  • Automated summary management not enabled in Admin

    I probably missed something, I've run the eulasm.sql script but I still can't access the summary feature. I can only access the radio buttons to create external summary tables.
    I am using Discoverer4i Admin Edition and 8.1.7.

    The summary management feature of Discoverer creates a
    materialized view for aggregated data. To create MView following
    is prerequisite.
    "To create a materialized view in your own schema:
    You must have been granted either the CREATE MATERIALIZED
    VIEW or CREATE SNAPSHOT system privilege and either the CREATE
    TABLE or
    CREATE ANY TABLE system privilege.
    You must also have access to any master tables of the
    materialized view that you do not own, either through a SELECT
    object privilege on
    each of the tables or through the SELECT ANY TABLE system
    privilege.
    To create a materialized view in another user's schema:
    You must have the CREATE ANY MATERIALIZED VIEW or CREATE
    ANY SNAPSHOT system privilege and access to any master tables of
    the
    materialized view that you do not own, either through a
    SELECT object privilege on each of the tables or through the
    SELECT ANY TABLE
    system privilege.
    The owner or the materialized view must have the CREATE

    Please check these settings/privileges then try.

  • Errors while Creating Summary

    While creating Summary on some of the folders based on custom views using ASM or mannually, I am getting this fine grain access policy error.
    ORA-30372: fine grain access policy conflicts with materialized view
    While creating Summary using query statistics, I am getting this following error.
    ORA-30353: expression not supported for query rewrite
    We are using Discoverer 10g. We have an APPS mode EUL and I am doing this by logging into Discoverer Admin as EUL owner, which is EUL_US. This user has all the previlages specified in Discoverer Admin Doc.
    ORA-30372, I could figure out is the problem with tables HZ_ORGANIZATION_PROFILES and HZ_PERSON_PROFILES which I used in the view for the folder I need to summarize.
    Tried creating materialized views on these folders seperately in SQL plus, but have the same error.
    Can Somebody help me to get through this?

    I am not saying you cannot use summaries but that you have to be aware of the underlying security. Most of the time you will need to use an external summary table not one that has been created for you by Discoverer.
    The following snippet, which will help, is taken from the Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Administration Guide, found here: http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/html/B13916_04/orapps_supp.htm#sthref1165
    As the Discoverer manager of an Oracle Applications mode EUL you must be aware of the following:
    1. Some Oracle Applications database views contain row level security and return differing result sets depending upon the currently active responsibility. This means that materialized views (summary tables in Oracle Standard Edition databases) will contain different data depending on the responsibility of the user refreshing the external summary folder.
    2. A summary folder based on an Oracle Applications secure view or Oracle Applications business view must be registered in Discoverer as an external summary folder (for more information, see Chapter 14, "How to create summary folders based on external summary tables").
    3. Where an external summary folder is mapped against a table or view with Oracle Applications row level security, it is your responsibility as Discoverer manager to make sure the external table or view provides secure access. If you are not sure, ask your database administrator.
    4. If a managed summary folder is found that satisfies a query (based on data with Oracle Applications row level security), Discoverer informs the end user that no rows satisfy the query criteria. Discoverer does this to ensure that end users do not see data they should not have access to.
    5. If a managed summary folder is found that satisfies a query (based on data without Oracle Applications row level security), Discoverer returns the rows unaffected. Discoverer does this because the data can be safely accessed by all end users.
    6. Some Oracle Applications views with row-level security support "public" rows (particularly Human Resources).

  • How can I get a list of BSSIDs without using netsh?

    I'm looking for an object that would have contents similar to the output of
    netsh wlan show networks mode=bssid
    I don't want to use unreliable parsing of text output, so using netsh is out.  The WMI interface that worked in windows xp doesn't work now.  There's an API, but there is no NET interface so it's pretty difficult to work with in powershell. 
    I know of a couple of adapters, but I'd like to keep this contained in one script.  I don't think I could find or write a type for the API that I could invoke in powershell.
    Is there anything else I'm missing?

    Oh, sorry, you have said that you don't want to use netsh.
    I will involve someone familiar with this to further look at this issue. Hope there is a way for you to use without the usage of netsh.

    Thanks, but I think I got it all figured out.  I used the C# code from the managed wifi api project (http://managedwifi.codeplex.com/) though it needed a little tweaking - had to get everything in one
    namespace so powershell could easily consume it without external files.  Had to do a little manual type conversion with the output because yay unmanaged and untyped API output.  This still needs some tweaking to present it better, but this will do
    the basics.

  • Error replicating customizing data to the repository (SRM MDM Catalog)

    Hi Folks,
    I am currently configuring SRM MDM catalog, and one of the initial steps is to replicate data from SRM to the repository.
    After defining repositories and FTP servers, I am running step "start extraction".
    Well, the result page prompts me for errors in the 3 different files it is trying to replicate:

    For accessing the catalog, you have to define the external webservice with the config parameters in SRM System under transaction "SPRO"

    I got new object and the description of the boject is as follows,
    Modify program ZPTFU_ATRION_TAB_UPDATE to include editing table ZPTF_ATRION_DATA.  There are situations where an invalid external material group gets applied to the table.  We would like the ability to delete the line by choosing the option from this transaction.
    Now i will tell u what i can get from this, 
    We were Updating the material and bom outbound status on the ZPTF_ATRION_DATA table, using the above said program.
    but the above descriptions says that some invalid external material groups getting updated to this table while executing the program.
    So how can we identify this invalid external material groups and what r the steps to be taken to delete that invalid external material groups from this table.
    main table for this external material groups is TWEW-EXTWG
    So, can any one help me in this issue.

    You need to validate the material groups of the table ZPTF_ATRION_DATA against table TWEW. And,
    delete all the records which fail this validation.

  • Reinstalling Sample Reports

    I tried adding an all values option for the year parameter in the sample sales analysis file under sales manager. I kept getting an error that the value could not be null even though I didn't click that option and could therefore not click on it anymore. I then tried to restore the file to its original state by overwriting the sales manager report file with a copy from my coworker. Now everytime I am clicking on these shared folder reports to view them I am getting errors like [051710_102341304][][EXCEPTION] Invalid external link base url: 'http://hostname:9704/xmlpserver/'. Is there a way for me to reinstall these sample reports manually so I can get rid of these errors showing up in the OC4J server? Thanks.

    When you mention 'I tried to restore the file with a copy from my co-worker', did you go about doing it by uploading the file or did you replace the files(salesCat.rtf and Sales Analysis.xdo) to the following folder?
    \OracleBI\xmlp\XMLP\Reports\Sales Manager\Sales Analysis

    I have got a problem publishing SRM (7.0 SP7) contracts to SRM-MDM Catalog.
    A contract is set to "Distribute Contract to Catalog" to "Yes" and released.
    Message correctly sent to XI and uploaded to MDM server by XI.
    Import map of the repository is updated in accordance with [Note 1171711|https://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1171711].
    In import manager, the uploaded xml files can be manually uploaded without error.
    Nonetheless, when the file is handled by the MDM Import Server, a structural error occurred.

    (3) assigned it to the XML_Schemas table of the repository.
    But the situation does not improve at all.
    Does anyone have experience on this ?
    What else should I check ?
