Inventory in production

Hi.
Can anybody help me by recommendation from your experience, how you have realized inventory of unfinished products.
Were you developing additional functionality based on Production Orders?

Eduard,
I think that your problem has nothing to do with SAP, but rather with the way you manage components on the shop floor.
I guess that at the moment the components are all over the place, and in different stages of assembly, and thats why you need to be able to count them from time to time, to correct the records to the fact (as you've said). Also, I guess that you backflush the components at the end of production.
Now, there is an alternative approach; you'll have to judge if you can use it in your shop. Instead of making the components available on the floor at all times and quantity, kit to order. It means that you have a closed storage of these components, and you issue them to production only based on production order reservation. This way the stock in the store is accurate at all times, and there's not really need to count anymore, since every order got exactly what it needs. This leads to tighter control of the components in the production flow.
If it doesn't make sense to work this way for all components, then you can have some common C parts as bulk material on the floor.
Another approach is to use KANBAN to supply components to the floor, and keep the backflushing concept. With KANBAN you just don't need to frequently count WIP, because the supply is not provided by MRP, thus not depending on accurate stock. Once in a while, for financial allignment, you "clean up" the floor (maybe once a year or quarter), and do "0" count (easy).

Mario

  • INVENTORY by Product Line

    Hi All,
do we have any report  for  Review reporting by Profit Center (COGS & Inventory by Product Line)
I know I asked this question previously, and friends said I can use FAGLB03 or FS10N , using Profit center as the sort criteria, BUT I need to see inventory by Profit center i mean to say QTY, and actula valuated price at the level of Product line, NOT the inventory G/L account .
as the business users says we have field in Material maser for Profit center why can't we see the inventory by Profit center.
    Thank you ,
    Paarthu

    so you mean to say,
mixing MBEW and MARC tables with MB5L
will give the material-qty-valuated stock-Profit center
Is that what you are trying to say ?
I tried MBEW and MARC downloaded to excel,is that the right way to do ?
or do we need to run a query in SQ01 , by giving all 2 tables and fieds?
    let me know,
    Paarthu

  • Inventory Management (production company) - how do you do it?

    Hi Experts
We need a tool (report) which can help controlling the inventory (for a production company) and thereby support the persons who order materials etc. so that they know what materials to order and how much to order etc. The tool should be able to give ex recommendation on which materials to order based on the avg. movements in the stock and current demand.
The goal is to support the people who orders materials to have more acurate stock levels and thereby avoid running out a stock and having to much stock.
In that relation I have two questions:
    1. Do you know any business content report/flow which can be activated for a purpose like this?
    2. Have you got any experience in inventory management for production companies? In case you have please let me know about the solution you implemented/know about.
Thanks a lot and kind regards,
    Torben

    Pedersen,
    1. Do you know any business content report/flow which can be activated for a purpose like this?
--> Yes, Standard business content available for Inventory management for reporting purpose.

    2. Have you got any experience in inventory management for production companies? In case you have please let me know about the solution you implemented/know about.
--> Based on above content we can check stock levels, moments(receipts & issues) and also slow moving.
--> But these content purely for repoting purpose only. How you want to build data on top of this...? and how you want to pass same information to raise an order...?

  • SCCM 2012 - Software Inventory (different product names)

    Hello
I just try to use software inventory feature and encountered such problem: some software, in particular, for example, WinRAR, changes its name depending on the version of the operating system on which it is installed.
That is, for example, in the paramenters of report 02D, from which we must take the "right" inventoried software titles, WinRAR listed four different products:
    WinRAR 4.20 (32-bit)
    WinRAR 4.20 (32-разрядная)
    WinRAR 4.20 (64-bit)
    WinRAR 4.20 (64-разрядная)
But in csv-file I should write exact title of software. So, what I should do? :)

Yes, I know this is an old post, I’m trying to clean them up, Did you figure this out, if so how?
Yes you should use the exact title, for the licensing cvs file.

  • Windows Intunes software inventory with product keys or without product keys

Its sounds good to manage and work faster but it would also save more time If Windows intune can also retrieve the product key information from all the clients machines. So my question is can windows intune retrieve the product keys of any programs installed.
    or only few if any??

There's no standard way to store product keys though so there's no way for a management tool like Intune to know how to retrieve them. If you can first get all software vendors to store their product keys, in a readable format, in a common way and place,
then this would be easy. Until then though, Intune is not magic and can not figure out where the thousands of software vendors are storing their keys let alone be able to unencrypt/unencode them if they are stored using some secure format.

  • Configuring product category and inventory product category set id

    Hi,
In DAC we are shown the inventory and product category set id as $$INV_PROD_CAT_SET_ID ..... $$INV_PROD_CAT_SET_ID9 and $$PROD_CAT_SET_ID ...... $$PROD_CAT_SET_ID9. I have done setups previously where the $$INV_PROD_CAT_SET_ID and $$PROD_CAT_SET_ID has been my first category and $$INV_PROD_CAT_SET_ID9 and $$PROD_CAT_SET_ID9 has been my 10th category.
Is this the correct way to setup the 10 out of the box supported product category?
A colleague of mine told me that the $$PROD_CAT_SET_ID and $$INV_PROD_CAT_SET_ID is obsolete from 7.9.5 . If that is the case then where do we configure the 10th category?
    Kindly advise.

could someone kindly respond to this pl?

  • Not able to Create Product Group.

    Hi All,
Not able to Create Product Group. I has to be solved urgently. The below message form SAP.
The field  is defined as a required field; it does not contain an entry
    Message no. MG144
    Procedure
    Transfer a suitable value.
If the field is the material group or unit of weight, and the field is not ready for input, check whether the material is locked. If it is locked, you cannot extend the Purchasing view or the Sales view. If either of these views needs to be extended, the material must first be unlocked. This can be done only by a user with special authorization. Contact your system administrator.
    Note
For information on locking and unlocking material master records, see the SAP library documentation Material Master (LO-MD-MM) -> Locking Material Master Records.

  • How to map Product Group for the Materials in BW.

    Hi All,
We have an requirement for one of the report called as Progress validation Report.
We have to craete thsi repotr which would pulll out Inventory value, Production Plan value, Total Lates, Current week deliveries and WIP for a quarter.
Cube whihc provides details about production plan has data by Material, plant and product group wise.
But rest of the cube from which we extract the key figures does not have data by Product grop wise.
Product group is been picked from PGMI table in R/3.
How I can related the materials  which are in other cube to the respective Product group.
Material and the relevant prdoct group data doesnot flows in BW.
There is even a scenario where ahve seen a material falls under 2 product groups..
PLease guide as how i can realted already existing materials in the Cube to the product group.
    Points will be assigned
    Thanks & Regards
    Vaishali Patil

    Hi,
Product Group is master data for material master. It is part of Matreial Clssification data in R/3.
Please check if you are having the same already loaded as attribute of Material master. I guess it will be there, if it s not there then you should try to load the same in material master object which you are using in all the cubes.
If the maintinenece in master data is nopt possible then you got to populate the same in cube.
There will be a combination of keys (materail/plant/prduct family etc.. ( for which Product group will be unique). then load product with the help of these key combinations in all the cubes via update routine.
There is one more way to have this but which is performance intensive.
You may create one master data object called Product Group and keep material number as attribute (with compunding all other key fileds to get the unique combination). Then you may create an infoset using cubes and this master data object. Join the materail numbers in all. Display this object in report.
    I hope it will help.
    Thanks,

  • Flow of product costing

    Hi All,
Iam new to controlling area. I want to know the entire process flow of product costing and what are journal entries reflect in this flow.
    Thanks,
    chandu

    Hi,
The requirement of batch wise capturing of costs can be achieved by creating a separate production order for each batch of production. The production order captures all the cost, which are incurred during the production process. The details of each cost are as below.
1.For every batch of production a production order is raised in the production department. The production order contains the details of BOM and recipe.
2.The Bill of Material (BOM) details the raw material and packing material in the required portions that are required for production.
3.The recipe contains the detail process of production activity including resource such as manufacturing machineries, equipment. Each operation is assigned to its resource and each resource assigned to relevant activities such as Labour, fuel, power etc. (maximum of six parameters for each resource). Each resource is attached to a cost centre.
    4. The recipe and BOM are copied to production order automatically when the order is created. The quantities of materials and activities are determined at standard levels (Planned costs).
    5. A production order may contain several phases and each phase requires individual confirmation.
6.Once a phase in production process is complete the production person gives his approval by the way of confirmation.
    7. At the time of giving confirmation he inputs the actual quantities incurred for material and activities. Using these inputs the Actual Cost can be arrived.
    8. From controlling module, the planned rates of activities are uploaded on periodical basis. monthly or annually. The cost of material is taken at Moving Average price.
Once the batch production is complete the production person gives his final approval to the order as u201CTechnically completed (TECO)u201D.
    9. At the month end / period end all these process orders are settled at the costing department.
    10. The settlement results in calculating the overheads on predetermined rate and transferring the total cost of the production on to the finished product. The following entry is generated
          Finished goods stock Account    Dr
              To factory output Account       Cr.
11.The work-in-process is calculated based on the status assigned to production order. If the order has a status of u201Cu201CTechnically completed (TECO)u201D. the work-in-process is not calculated, but the order will be totally settled.
12.The standard cost of finished product is released at the beginning of every month. The standard cost is calculated based on the Bill of Material and recipe defined independently for each finished and semi finished product.
13.The variance is calculated on the difference of standard cost of material and the actual cost incurred in the production.
    14. When the actual cost of power, fuel, Labour are accounted against respective cost centres in the month end, the system automatically determines the under absorption or over absorption of production costs. This difference cost will be apportioned to all the batches on a predetermined basis.
    Revaluation of Production orders
Initially cost planned in cost centre accounting against activity types are used for valuating the materials that are produced. At the month end when actual cost are booked from financial accounting, revised activity price calculation is carried in cost centre accounting and with this prices the production orders are revalued. The revaluation is carried to the extent of difference between planned vs. actual activity prices. The revaluation production orders will not be carried, as production orders will be settled Immediately.
The actual cost of every batch is determined using above process. A report is generated to know the cost for each batch.
The standard cost fixed with each customer for each product is maintained in a separate database. The Costing department should compare these details with the actual cost of production and identify the difference. Accordingly a Debit/Credit note can be generated.
Once a standard cost estimate is created, it updates the material master with that rate.
Cost Object Controlling is an area in cost accounting that assigns the costs incurred in the production of company activities (such as internally manufactured materials) to those activities. Cost Object Controlling supports you in:
    Reaching make-or-buy decisions
    Determining price floors
Performing complex cost analysis (such as target/actual analysis)
    Determining inventory values
    Cost component Structure:
A control of how the results of activity price calculation or material costing are stored.
In Product Cost Controlling (CO-PC), the cost component structure determines the attributes for passing on the following costs:
Material costs passed on to material valuation as the standard price or inventory price
    Product cost components are
    Material
    Accessories
    Power
    Fuel
    Sal & wages
    Depreciation
    R&M/ Stores
    Others
    Admin OH
Standard Cost Estimates (Applicable for trading activity)
At the start of the fiscal year standard cost estimates will be released based on the planned raw material prices and planned manufacturing overheads. These standard prices are updated in the respective material master. These cost estimates are run only for make-to-stock materials.
The various components of cost are incurred in producing a product is captured. The following cost components are considered for materials cost, consumables and fuel, direct
Labour cost, utilities. Repairs and maintenance gases, depreciation, administrative overheads. A costing sheet will be created to capture administrative overheads cost which are not absorbed in the products as activity cost but are to be considered for inventory valuation In the first step planned activity outputs for each cost centre are planned, then planned cost that will be incurred against each activity type and primary cost element are planned, by carrying out activity price calculation the planned price of each activity is arrived. These activity types are entered in the work centers and routings. When cost estimates are created, system captures material cost from the prices mentioned in material master. The manufactured overheads are updated from the activity cost planned in cost center accounting.

  • How to get Inventory -Finished Goods Values Plant wise in Balance Sheet

    Hi,
    1. Customer is using same finsihed goods material for plant 1100 and plant 1900
    2. But the want to see 2 differant lines in balance sheet for inventory finished product.
    3. For this can i create 2 diffferant valuation classes and 2 differant GL accounts? And assign the GL Accounts in BSX - OBYC?
Kindly help me..is there anything else do i need to do?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The setting of different valuation class and different G/L accounts is fine for different plants.
Just see that your financial statment version is showing this two G/L account in the Finished goods inventory list and then you are done.

  • OPM Inventory Roll Forward Report

    Hello All:
My Plant controller is asking for an Inventory Roll Forward report in OPM 11.5.10
At the high level, this is what he is asking for :
For the quarters under examination, obtain and test or perform an overall "rollforward" of inventory units (i.e., beginning inventory plus production plus returns less sales and plus or minus inventory adjustments equals ending
    inventory).
I am planning to build a custom report using information based in ic_tran_pnd and ic_tran_cmp tables.
I wanted to know, Is there a "standard" Report in OPM that is available to give this information or anything close enough that I can use a starting point to build the above Report?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sandeep
    Edited by: user8611828 on Dec 29, 2010 6:44 PM

    Hi Sandeep,
*"Daily Transaction Detail Report"* in OPM inventory responsibility can be the basis on which you can build on the "running stock balance report". Of course, inclusion of ic_perd_bal would make sense for the opening balance.
Rather, you can even build "Projected Stock Balance report", in case you have procurement plans (PR/PO) –-- inflow and projected requirements --- outflow, is in place.
    Hope this helps.

  • COGS and Change in Inventory Reporting

    Dear All,
Client want to Cross Verify the Cost of  Goods Sold (COGS) during the Month  with change in inventory  during the month in the system, how can we do that.
    Example
    In F.01
If we enter  1 to 5 period in Reporting periods
And we enter 1 to 4 period in Comparison periods
We will get the difference between the 4 and 5th period in difference  column
So the material GL account will show the difference in difference column that will be equal to change in inventory during the month.
Now they want to cross verify this amount with COGS.

  • API for inventory control?

Can we use the API to update the inventory of product B when product A is purchased?
    For instance:
We need to have a product listed at 4 different pricing tiers in secure zones for specific customers. Since Business Catalyst only offers retail and wholesale pricing tiers, we had to find a work around.
We ended up duplicating each product 4 times in seperate catalogs each one in its own secure zone. This solves being able to have each priced differently, however now we aren't able to control inventory for a specific product across the 4 tiers.
    For Example:
    Product A1
    Product A2
    Product A3
    Product A4
Product A1 has been ordered, is there a way to use the API to subtract the number of Products ordered from the inventory levels in Product A2, A3, and A4?

I've setup a test login for the store. (http://malibuboats.businesscatalyst.com)
    Username: 1234
    Password: 1234
This is really rough looking but you will be able to see the problem.
All top level catalogs are full retail price (/men)
All sub catalogs are will receive a 50% off discount. (/men/shirts)
You will notice that when you add an item to the cart that is 50% off, it shows full price in the cart summery, cart and checkout. since this is still a test site i can't see if it charges the card the full amount or not.
    Thanks for your help.

  • NSD702: AMIE import of other products than ZENworks?

    Administration Guide, NSD 7.0.2 :
    5.13.1 AMIE Mappings for Servers
The Asset Management Import Engine (AMIE) integrates with the following
    Inventory Management Products:
    - Absolute Manage 6.0
    - Centennial Discovery 2005, 9
    - Express Software Manager 9.0, 9.5
    - HP Universal CMDB 8.0
    - LANDesk 8.5, 9.0, 9.0 (Hardware)
    - LANrev 5.1
    - LiveTime Discovery 2005, 2007
    - LOGINventory 4.3
    - Manage Engine Desktop Central 7.0
    - Microsoft SMS Version 2003 SP1
    - Microsoft SCCM 2007
    - Spiceworks 4.0, 5.0
    - ZENworks Asset Management 6.5+
    - ZENworks Configuration Management 11.1, 11.1 (Hardware).
But I think starting with NSD7 only the ZENworks products are still
    available as import type.
(With NSD6.5 you could also select the other products...)
    Can anybody confirm this?
How to import e.g. LOGINventury in addition to ZENworks?
    TIA
