Invoke remote diskpart with pipe results in 'C:\windows\system32\diskpart.exe}' is not recognized as an internal or external command
Hi,
I am trying to invoke commands from powershell(resp. the code below is run from CMD, because it should be part of CMD script in future), especially the diskpart and do some operations.
I am trying to use this:
"C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe" Invoke-Command -ComputerName "machinename" -ScriptBlock {"select disk 2", "online disk" | diskpart}
but keep getting this:
'diskpart.exe}' is not recognized as an internal or external command...
I also tried with full path to diskpart but I get this:
'C:\windows\system32\diskpart.exe}' is not recognized as an internal or external command...
can you help me with that? I would use powershell directly but the system is Server 2008 R2 where storage modules are not present..
execution policy is set to unrestricted
I should also note, that SYSTEM32 where diskpart resides IS part of variables on both systems
Thank you.
Pete

Hi,
thanks for answer. It works as you say but I am calling powershell from within CMD (cmd script), its the reason, why this:
"C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe"
is being included. And that is not working.

Hello All
We have a server 2008 R2 HyperV server and during the last few months it started to reboot randomly.
Initially we thought its related to the issue fixed by the following hotfix so we applied it but even with the hotfix it still keeps rebooting.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2732595
Unlike what's mentioned in the hotfix , the faulting module is not "ntdll.dll" but "msvcrt.dll".Also came up with the following indication the reboots could be related to KB2871997 but that update is not installed
on this system.

I recommend you refer to the following article to troubleshoot the issue:
Troubleshooting ActiveSync Health Set
ActiveSyncCTPMonitor Recovery Actions
This monitor alert is typically issued on CA servers (CAS).
Start IIS Manager, and then connect to the server that is reporting the issue. Click
Application Pools, and then recycle the ActiveSync application pool that is named
MSExchangeSyncAppPool.
Rerun the associated probe as shown in step 2c in the
Verifying the issue section.
If the issue still exists, recycle the entire IIS service by using the IISReset utility.
Rerun the associated probe as shown in step 2c in the
Verifying the issue section.
If the issue persists, you must verify the health status on the corresponding Mailbox server. The name of the Mailbox server is the
_Mbx: value that’s given in the error message.
Run the following command for the appropriate Mailbox server. For example, run the following command a Mailbox server that’s named mailbox1.contoso.com:
Get-ServerHealth mailbox1.contoso.com | ?{$_.HealtSetName -like "ActiveSync*"}
If any of the monitors that are listed in the command output are reported to be unhealthy, you must address those monitors first. To do this, follow the troubleshooting steps that are outlined in the
ActiveSyncDeepTestMonitor and ActiveSyncSelfTestMonitor Recovery Actions section.
If all monitors on the Mailbox server are healthy, restart the CAS.
After the server restarts, rerun the associated probe as shown in step 2c in the
Verifying the issue section.
If the probe continues to fail, you may need further assistance to resolve this issue. Contact a Microsoft Support professional to resolve this issue. To contact a Microsoft Support professional, visit the
Exchange Server Solutions Center. In the navigation pane, click
Support options and resources and use one of the options listed under
Get technical support to contact a Microsoft Support professional. Because your organization may have a specific procedure for directly contacting Microsoft Product Support Services, be sure to review your organization's guidelines first.
Hope this helps!

Can i set up remote desktop with my Mac Air and Windows 7 HP desktop?
I am wanting to set up remote desktop with my Mac Air and HP windows 7 home edition desktop. Is this possible and how do I begin setting this up?
Thanks for the help! There is an app in the Mac App Store to use Microsoft Remote Desktop with a Mac: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-remote-desktop/id715768417?mt=12
But according to their support site it requires Pro, Enterprise, or Ultimate in the Windows 7 side. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn473006.aspx
If it was me, I would first look into Teamviewer to see if it will do what you need. It does work between Mac and Windows and it is free for non-commercial use. http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx -
what will i do with my ipad 2 ios 5.0.1 stuck on white apple logo and itunes not recognized it. i'll always try to press and hold both the home botton and sleep/wake button but nothings happen.
if that dose not work then you can always put it into DFU mode by connecting to your computer and holding down the home button and sleep/wake button for excatly 10 seconds and then relesing the sleep/wake button and keep holding down the homebutton till iTunes tells you it has detected an iPad in recovery mode then just do a restore

thanks for your helpHello,
I have replicated and confirmed the problem with LabVIEW 2010, Report Generation Toolkit 2010 and Word 2010. I have filed this to R&D under CAR ID #257414. As a workaround you can manually set each cell using Word Edit Cell.vi. I have attached a simplified representation of this unexpected behavior as well as the workaround. Hopefully this helps everyone out!

Unable to pair Apple Remote App with iTunes
I am running a Toshiba Satellite L505D-S5965 with Windows Vista SP 2. My iTunes software is 8.2.1.6, and my iPhone 3GS is running OS 3.0.1 (7A400). Both the Satellite and iPhone are connected to the same WiFi local network, and yet the App "Remote" by Apple Software is unable to communicate with iTunes to allow the entry of the four digit code to establish control of the iTunes library. Shortly after purchasing the iPhone 3GS I purchased the Satellite, but in the couple of weeks between the purchases the Remote App worked fine on my Gateway running Windows XP SP2. I have been through Apple Telephone support twice, and have really run one of the technicians through the mill researching possible solutions. I have visited an Apple Store Genius, who could find no reason for the problem. The iPhone and Remote App worked perfectly well on the store's WiFi and Mac, but his iPhone also wouldn't work with my laptop. I have been through Kaspersky's technical support system to ensure that there isn't a firewall issue. They have assured me, after reviewing logs from my laptop, that this is not the case. I even went so far as to uninstall all my Kaspersky product, but the Apple Remote App still would not function properly. I have updated the router's firmware, and checked that the laptop's wireless card is running the latest driver. At this point I can't think of anything else to try but would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Steve
Monday 7th Jan.
Just to say that Apple did call me this am to discuss the problem on foot of a call I made last week.
In the meantime the remote worked with both a 2007 IMac and a 2009 laptop but not on the m-mini.
When I tried pairing this morning during the call by pressing Menu and next together it paired.
The change is very subtle, it just says paired in the advanced section of the security et sl section as referred before, with a fleeting 2 intersecting rings icon.
The big difference is that Front Row is gone....
The remote only works to a limited degree within some apps such as iTunes and iPhotos.
In theory it controls the volume in iTunes but as of now for me it doesnt....:( need to look more.
As to what the problem was:
It seems there is a set of keyboard combinations that can be used to force a reset the ID of the remote, the suggestion is MAYBE that by getting it to work on the iMac and laptop in some way reset the ID.
This stuff is WAY beyond my skill level:)
I did impress upon Apple the need to look at the issue in threads like this....

Ipod with click wheel. Windows displays device not recognized problem.
I'm using a ipod with click wheel, and hooking it up through a usb 2.0 port with the stock cable.
I keep getting a device not recognized message from windows, and the itunes software 8.xxxx does not recognize it even in diagnostics tests. Everything else is pass, except the ipod recognition.
The battery needs to be charged, and is depleted but its not recieving a charge when plugged into the computer.
Does anyone have a solution to this?

Message was edited by: johnqthesneIf the iPod is not getting a charge through the cable (and the battery is depleted), it may not be recognized because the iPod has no power to do anything.
I would say the problem is either a faulty dock connector on the iPod, a faulty cable, or a faulty USB port on the computer. You have probably tested the USB port possibility already by trying a different port (or trying another USB device on the same port), so I would try a different USB docking cable as the next test. -
Hi,
I've been trying for days to download Windows support software via Bootcamp assistant but it always fails with message 'Can't install windows software because it is not currently available from the software update server.'
Anyone else had problems or success with this?
Thanks in advance.9thdoc wrote:
I'm getting a similar but distinct error message in snow leopard: Download could not continue. "The windows support software is not available" and have no original snow leopard instal disc with me.
Your issue is completely different. You are running Snow Leopard. There is no download for Windows Support software for Snow Leopard, hence the error you see. Snow Leopard Windows Support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.
You need the Snow Leopard installation disk or a replacement for it. -
Error with glass-fish installation on Window 7 (64 bit)
Windows 7 Enterprise (Service Pack 1)
64 bit Operating system
RAM 8 GB
With reference to above PC config, I have installed MYSQL Server 5.6 and JDK7u79 it works fine, However when I try to install glass-fish server on the same PC it throws the error (above)
Installed path for software is: C:\adfessentials
I have googled the error but things have not been explained properly there. Could anyone provide a step by step instruction to rectify this error and install glass-fish 3.1.2.2

Window 10 build 10041 does not work with Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet on ASUS motherboard
I originally posted this question here:
answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_update/window-10-build-10041-does-not-work-with-intel/6729892f-83aa-4822-b20a-ea84f4fd06c7
and was asked to post it on this forum...
I updated a computer I have which is a quad core i7 that I built and includes an ASUS motherboard with Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet built in. Windows 10 preview 9926 worked fine with this network adapter. Window 10 build 10041 does not, and I have tried
it twice so far. I even went as far as buying a Thunderbolt-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (Broadcom, sold by Apple)... and while it installed the driver automatically, it did not work either. Each time you try to view the properties of either of them, it locks
up or give an error. In fact, doing much of anything with the Intel adapter icon assures you of not being able to do a clean reboot... have to kill power. I have finally gone back the previous version 9926, which has its issues but no where near as bad
as not having any network connectivity! Does anyone have this issue and a workaround?
Note, there are two images on the windows 10 preview forum that I posted this question on. I could not post the full link as I was getting a message here that links and graphics are not allowed. Thanks Roger, I posted the following yesterday in the other thread (thinking it was this thread - confusing after they moved it here)... It may be that the new driver fixes the issue that 10041 has with it, but I have not tried that yet. If I do I will update
this... Thanks!
I have more information about this, which basically exonerates any issue with the Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet hardware or software. I have 3 computers with Windows 10 preview so I have multiple angles to see issues from. With this I have found a culprit
(but I suspect not just the only culprit) in this above mentioned problem...
10041 build combined with installing (or attempting to install) CISCO VPN Windows 7 64bit 5.0.07.0440-k9 client causes the issue mentioned above. I confirmed this on a completely different machine with a totally different Ethernet adapter. First machine
is an ASUS motherboard in a tower system I built, with the Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet hardware built in. Second machine is a Gateway Laptop from 2008 which has a Marvell Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit adapter built in. Build 10041 will work fine with my 2008
laptop, including the MS VPN client (which I have tested). However, if you attempt to install or even uninstall the Cisco client you will have to do a recovery to a restore point (as I have done twice) in order to get your network working again. Installing
or attempting to install (because it never even does install properly and times out), CISCO VPN client will render your entire network unusable. Going back to a restore point saved me and I am still running 10041 but I can't use CISCO VPN client any longer.
I could with build 9926, including on all 3 machines. I now have 9926 on two machines and 10041 on only the 2008 laptop.
Hopefully this above information helps someone resolve the issue. I will also mention, even though my network is working on the 2008 laptop, I still can't go into the Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections and right mouse click on the Marvell
Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit adapter icon. I get an error when clicking on Properties menu popup : "An unexpected error has occurred". So something is still up with my network adapter driver or windows software, but it could be a side effect of all
that has happened with the Cisco software install attempts under 10041.
Another note: CISCO Anyconnect also has the issue. -
Oracle Startup/Shutdown with SQLPLUS and ORADIM in Windows...
I am a newbie to the Windows platform. SQLPLUS will not allow me to issue a STARTUP command. This is what I get when I attempt to SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE and subsequently issue a STARTUP MOUNT/NOMOUNT or any STARTUP command for that matter. The SHUTDOWN command works successfully but the subsequent startup fails with an ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor message.

Database dismounted.
ORACLE instance shut down.
SQL> startup mount
ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor

When I look at the Windows service, it still reports 'Started' despite the fact that I shutdown the instance. What is the proper protocol for shutting down and starting up an Oracle instance in Windows. Do I have to coordinate these activities with the ORADIM -STARTUP / -SHUTDOWN commands?I am also newbie to oracle and running into the similar problem when trying to start oracle database using windows command prompt and getting the below error:
Command prompt is being run as administrator on windows7 O/S
C:\ORACLE\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\BIN>oradim -SHUTDOWN -SID O22BVGI -SHUTTYPE srvc, inst -SHUTMODE nornal
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
The reason behind this to do it is , I need a batch script for stopping and restarting the oracle database instance using a Pfile which will contain the initialization parameters.
Please can someone help!
sqlnet.ora is:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, ONAMES, HOSTNAME)
Kind Regards

Poor performance with Oracle Spatial when spatial query invoked remotely
Is anyone aware of any problems with Oracle Spatial (10.2.0.4 with patches 6989483 and 7003151 on Red Hat Linux 4) which might explain why a spatial query (SDO_WITHIN_DISTANCE) would perform 20 times worse when it was invoked remotely from another computer (using SQLplus) vs. invoking the very same query from the database server itself (also using SQLplus)?
Does Oracle Spatial have any known problems with servers which use SAN disk storage? That is the primary difference between a server in which I see this poor performance and another server where the performance is fine.
Thank you in advance for any thoughts you might share.OK, that's clearer.
Are you sure it is the SQL inside the procedure that is causing the problem? To check, try extracting the SQL from inside the procedure and run it in SQLPLUS with
set autotrace on
set timing on
SELECT ....If the plans and performance are the same then it may be something inside the procedure itself.
Have you profiled the procedure? Here is an example of how to do it:
Prompt Firstly, create PL/SQL profiler table
@$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/proftab.sql
Prompt Secondly, use the profiler to gather stats on execution characteristics
DECLARE

BEGIN
dbms_output.put_line('Start Profiler Result = ' || DBMS_PROFILER.START_PROFILER(run_comment => 'PARALLEL PROFILE')); -- The comment name can be anything: here it is related to the Parallel procedure I am testing.
v_geom := Parallel(v_geom,10,0.05,1); -- Put your procedure call here
dbms_output.put_line('Stop Profiler Result = ' || DBMS_PROFILER.STOP_PROFILER );
END;

Prompt Finally, report activity
