Invoke wmi method to send remote command

Hi guys, i am trying to create a log entry by using inoke-wmimethod not invoke-command
this is what i am using but no luck
foreach($server in $servers){
$error.Clear()
$ping = New-Object System.Net.NetworkInformation.Ping
if($ping.send($server,1000).Status -like "success"){
sleep -Milliseconds 100
"Running FlushDNS cmd on $server"
New-EventLog -ComputerName $server –LogName System –Source “Script” -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Invoke-WmiMethod -Path Win32_Process -ComputerName $server Create -ArgumentList "cmd /c ipconfig /flushdns" -AsJob -ThrottleLimit 200 >> $null
Invoke-WmiMethod -Path Win32_Process -ComputerName $server Create -ArgumentList "powershell /c Write-EventLog -LogName System -Source `"Script`" -EntryType Information -EventId 1 -Message `"Received FlushDns Command`""
"$(get-date) Sent ipconfig /flushdns to $server" >> "\\localhost\c$\PSScripts\test\CTX flushdns\flushdns other.log"
I am guessing its something to do with my format since flushdns appears to be working? Any ideas?

I had better luck using get-wmiobject to retrieve the object from the desired computer and class and piping that to invoke-wmimethod:
Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration -Filter "Index=$index" |
Invoke-WmiMethod -Name SetIPConnectionMetric -ArgumentList $metric

can i invoke java methods in flash builder 4 .
is it possible.
if it's possible pls give some ideas.

If you want to invoke java methods that are remote though, you might want to use a Java Remoting technology like BlazeDS.
Using a <s:RemoteObject> tag, you could connect to the server and invoke java methods.
Here is a small sample app code that helps me execute a remote java method.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600"
creationComplete="ro.getProducts()">
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.controls.Alert;
import mx.messaging.channels.AMFChannel;
import mx.rpc.events.FaultEvent;
import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent;
protected function ro_resultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void
Alert.show(event.result.toString())
protected function ro_faultHandler(event:FaultEvent):void
Alert.show(event.fault.faultString);
]]>
</fx:Script>
<fx:Declarations>
<!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
<s:RemoteObject id="ro"
destination="productService"
endpoint="http://localhost:8400/samples"
fault="ro_faultHandler(event)"
result="ro_resultHandler(event)"/>
</fx:Declarations>
</s:Application>
Hope this helps,

• How to realize timeout while invoking a method in remote sesssion bean using my session bean running on wls5.1

I am using WL5.1 SP11 on a project. I have a stateless session bean inside which
I will invoke a method defined in another stateless session bean in a remote weblogic
server 5.1. The performance of the remote server is very low and sometimes when
I invoke the method through RMI, I got to wait for a long time. So I want to set
a timeout for my session bean while doing RMI call. The only parameter I could
find in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml is the "transaction-timeout", but even if I set transaction
attribute for my session bean, it always block there to wait for the response
from the remote session bean. The configuation did not work.
Is there any other solutions to my problem? Please give me some advice if anyone
has experience on it, Thank you very much.

• Can't Set Remote Login OFF via Send Unix Command systemsetup

Trying to use the System Setup->Remote Login template in ARD to turn off Remote Login (SSH) in Sharing panel of System Preferences on Mac that is administered through Apple Remote Desktop.
In Apple Remote Desktop (ARD), I select the client machine, then choose "Send Unix Command..." from the "Manage" menu. In resultant window, I pick "System Setup->Remote Login (SSH) from the "Template" drop down box in the upper right. That populates the upper window with Unix commands. I edit/change the "on" to "off" and tell the dialog to Run command as User: root, then click on "Send" button.
Progress bar goes forever with no change.
I can turn off Remote Login via ARD by controlling each client machine via an ARD WINDOW, then navigating to the Sharing Preference pane, but that process is tedious when performing for multiple client Macs.
Strange, but I CAN use the "Send Unix Command..." outlined above to turn ON Remote Login, and get the status of Remote Login ("systemsetup -getremotelogin"). Just can't turn OFF Remote Login (quickly/efficiently).
man systemsetup suggests I need to write the command as "setremotelogin -f off" but that failed with an improper command syntax error.
Thoughts?

It’s waiting for you to type a confirmation. If you run this command on the command line normally, you’ll see the message:
Do you really want to turn remote login off? If you do, you will lose this connection and can only turn it back on locally at the server (yes/no)?
Use this command instead:
systemsetup -f -setremotelogin off

• How do I send a command to run a program on a remote computer

I am trying to use the TCP vi's to send a command to a remote computer on our local area network, so that a program runs on that remote computer. How do I do this, if possible?

Set one server VI on the remote computer to LISTEN (create listener / wait on listener) continuously for one port. When it receive something, READ the string and see if it is the one that you are expecting. On your computer, set a client VI, which first CONNECT (open connection) to the remote computer (using remote's IP and port number) and then it SENDs a string containing the command.
Hope it helps.
p.s.: Uppercase words name the Vis that you should use for this application.

• Apple Remote Desktop - sending SSH commands to linux clients

Has anyone been able to configure ARD to send SSH commands to linux clients?
The VNC part works, but not sure how to configure the UNIX commands.
We are trying to be able to send rpm, df, etc commands to multiple centos clients at one time...
thanks.

not sure how to configure the UNIX commands.
You can't. That's not a feature of ARD.

• Calling a method on a remote object to ping the server

I need a generic way of pinging a server to check if it is still there. Assuming I don't know the methods defined in the remote interface of the server, one way to achieve this would be to invoke one of the Object methods on the server and catch any exceptions. To do this I could call invoke on the RemoteRef interface, but this requires the opnum of the method, and I don't know what these are for the Object methods. Can anyone help, or suggest a better method for pinging the server ?
William
For example:
// my remote service
Remote service;
// obtain remote ref
RemoteRef ref = ((RemoteObject) service).getRef();
// invoke Object method e.g. hashCode
ref.invoke( ... );

if you mean a real ping like windows/unix send from the ping command then it can not be done from jave. you can either connect to the echo port and test it that way or you would have to make a native call.

• Send a Command to many servers at sametime

Hello.
Could someone please tell me that there is a simple way to send a command to many servers at onetime without using Invoke-command powershell cmdlet???

Hi,
You can use the free utility by Microsoft -
PsExec.
PsExec is a light-weight telnet-replacement that lets you execute processes on other systems, complete with full interactivity for console applications, without having to manually install client software. PsExec's most powerful uses include launching interactive
command-prompts on remote systems and remote-enabling tools like IpConfig that otherwise do not have the ability to show information about remote systems.

• App to run remote commands

I am building an app to run remote commands. A server app with tcp/ip to listen for connections, validate user, then let user send commands(from a predefined list) that will fire the Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime() , the Process proc = rt.exec(cmd from cmd list)
Any thoughts on this? Better method or practice?
Can you get static of a proc whil running? I wnat each call to be a new proc, so I guess I could vector them after creation?
M

strictly network internal ops. Run exe/bat/com on remote server. The commands will be contolled by the admin, so we will be limited. I see the server running as a Win2k service so the permission for it to execute commands could be limited to the user that is the 'log on as' for the service.(is this a correct assumption?)
We have tried rcmd, windows scripting, etc...but they all require admin privs on the target machine and the admins won't allow this.
My thought was to build a command object to extend into commands we are allowed to run. you use a gui to send encrypted command name to server, it decrpyts and runs the appropriate cmd object, firing runtime to execute a predefined cmd string held in the cmd object and permissions based on service 'log on As' user.

• Unable to use Datasource.cfc in Admin API - The current user is not authorized to invoke this method

Hi Everyone,
I am having some issues accessing the methods in the datasource.cfc in the adminAPI.
I can successfully load the administrator CFC and am told that I have successsfuly logged in;
But when I try to subsequently load the datasource.cfc I get an error that the current user is unable to access the method.
/* Create an Admin API object and call the login method */
var local = {};
Obj = createObject("component", "cfide.adminapi.administrator");
/* Enter your password for the CF Admin */
/* if you dump this - TRUE is returned */
Obj.login(adminPassword="my_admin_user_password");
/* Create an object of datasource component */
Obj = createObject("component", "cfide.adminapi.datasource");
writeDump(local.dsnObj.getDataSources());
I tried creating separate admin users and passwords - yhinking that perhaps a revent hotfix had stopped the "admin" user from being allowed to use the adminAPI - but changing to a new adminuser yielded the same results.
I could login to the admin API with the new username and passsword - but could not access the datasource.cfc after that.
Here is the debug output from the error...

and I agree I don't have "E" drive either!

I've found a solution to my plight - I don't know if it'll work for you or help you try something that MAY fix it.
I use a common code set which includes the Application.cfc from a CF Mapping - So, in the application.cfc in the actual website I do this:-
<cfinclude template="/UberDirectory/Application.cfc">
Then, in the /UberDirectory/Application.cfc, I was initialising a CFC which checks if the datasource was created for the website. The datasource checking code attempts to log into the Admin API and check & create if necessary the datasource.
This has previously worked without fail for me - But in this instance it failed!! I was doing two things wrong - Firstly, the CFC should only be called in the Application.cfc in the onRequestStart section as the Application had to be initialised first - This is maybe because I've invoked the application.cfc in a "non-standard" manner.
Secondly, once I'd moved the CFC invocation into oNRequestStart I saw the following error:-
The string COOKIE.CFAUTHORIZATION_uber-directory is not a valid ColdFusion variable name.
I had this as the app name .... <cfset this.name = 'uber-directory'>
Changedthe dash to an underscore and I was away and could once again check the datasources
Hope it helps

• "An error occurred sending the command to the application" When trying to open excel document from outlook 2007

Error message "An error occurred sending the command to the application" When trying to open excel document from outlook 2007.
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
If I save the document then it opens fine, messing with default file associations does not resolve this problem, I've googled for ir it and some suggest unticking compatibility mode or "run as admin" for excel application, neither is selected in my case.
Outlook is configured to run as remote application from remoteApp server, this error is only occurring for one user, for others excel documents open just fine.

Hi
Thank you for using
Microsoft Office for IT Professionals Forums.
From your description, we can Create a trusted location follow these steps
Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Excel Options.
Click Trust Center, click Trust Center Settings, and then click
Trusted Locations.
If you want to create a trusted location that is not local to your computer, select the Allow trusted locations on my network (not recommended) check
box.
Click Add new location.
IMPORTANT We recommended that you don't make your entire
Documents or My Documents folder a trusted location. Doing so creates a larger target for a hacker to potentially exploit and increases your security risk. Create a subfolder within Documents or My Documents, and make only that folder a trusted location.
In the Path box, type the name of the folder that you want to use as a trusted location, or click Browse to
locate the folder.
If you want to include subfolders as trusted locations, select the
Subfolders of this location are also trusted check box.
In the Description box, type what you want to describe the purpose of the trusted location.
Click OK.

• TCP connection error when sending MODBUS commands to WAGO 750-881 controller after 113655 bytes of data have been sent

Hi all,
I am new to the world of labview and am attempting to build a VI which sends commands to a 750-881 WAGO controller at periodic intervals of 10ms.
To set each of the DO's of the WAGO at once I therefore attempt to send the Modbus fc15 command every 10ms using the standard Labview TCP write module.
When I run the VI it works for about a minute before I recieve an Error 56 message telling me the TCP connection has timed out. Thinking this strange, I decided to record the number of bytes sent via the TCP connection whilst running the program. In doing so I noticed that the connection broke after exactly 113655 Bytes of data had been sent each time.
Thinking that I may have been sending too many messages I increased the While-loop delay from 10ms to 20, 100 and 200 ms but the error remained. I also tried playing with the TCP connection timeout and the TCP write timeout but neither of these had any effect on the problem.
I cannot see why this error is occuring, as the program works perfectly up untill the 113655 Bytes mark.
I have attached a screenshot of the basic VI (simply showing a MODBUS command being sent every second) and of a more advanced VI (where I am able to control each DO of the WAGO manually by setting a frequency at which the DO should switch between ON and OFF).
If anybody has any ideas on where the problems lie, or what I could do to further debug the program this would be greatly appreciated.
Solved!

Hi ThiCop,
Yes the error occurs after exactly 113655 bytes every time. The timeout control I would like to use is 10ms, however even increasing this to 1s or 10s does not remove the error, which leads me to believe that this is not the issue (furthermore, not adding any delay to the while loop, thus letting it run at maximum speed, has shown that the TCP connection is able to send all 113655 bytes in under 3 seconds again pointing towards the timeout control not being the issue here).
I attempted Marco's suggestion but an having difficulty translating the string returned into a readable string, (rightnow the response given is " -# + ").
As to your second suggestion, I implemented something similar where I created a sub VI to build a TCP connection, send a message and then close the connection. I now build each message and then send the string to this subVI which successfully sends the command to my application. Whilst not being the most elegant method of solving the issue, it has resolved the timeout problem meaning I am able to send as many commands as I want. So in that sense the problem has been solved.
If you still have tips on how to correctly read the TCP read output, I would however like to see if I could not get my first program to work as it is slightly more robust in terms of timing.
Modbus TCP RTU is a binary protocol, as you show in your Basic VI, where you format the data stream using byte values. So you have to interprete the returned answer accordingly with the Modbus RTU spec in hand. Now what is most likely happening is that the connection gets hung after a while since you do NOT read the data the device sends as response to your commands. The TCP/IP stack buffers those bytes and at some point the internal buffers overflow and the connection is blocked by the stack. So adding the TCP Read at strategic places (usually after each write) is the proper solution for this. Is there any reason that you didn't use the NI provided Modbus TCP library?

Hi Amarnath,
Where exactly you are getting this error?
If you are getting at JMS Sender communication channel, try to stop and start the JMS communication channel and see the status, also use XPI Inspector to get the exact error log.

• Access linux terminal to send shutdown command

I'm needing to access the linux terminal to send the shutdown command,
here is the code i'm trying
try{
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("sudo shutdown -h now");
}catch ( Exception e){
System.out.println("Exception in shuttin down machine");
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"Can't shutdown.  Shit!");
}I've used this commend to use the command line in windows, but not sure how to change it over for linux.
Thanks

I had a similar problem recently where I need to send multiple commands after the initial Runtime.exec(). My solution involved a PrintWriter...
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("sudo shutdown -h now");
PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(p.getOutputStream());
pw.println("yourpassword");
pw.flush();
pw.close();As far as this...
"sudo (and ssh etc.) won't take password from the stdin, if it is not a terminal. "
... Im not really sure. The method above did work for me, but if sudo doesn't check stdin, Im not sure how my solution works
A couple other things you might consider. When you use Runtime.exec(), you are passing the system a command, you are not sending a string to a command line. For example, trying to run ...
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("ls /usr/bin");
... will do nothing since "ls" does not start a new process, but is more of a routine. Likewise, you may or may not have problems using the shutdown command. If you do have problems, you may need to start a terminal with Runtime.exec(), and then send the shutdown command through the terminals stdin using the PrintWriter method.
And on a second note, you may also need to reorganize your code to this...
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("sudo", "shutdown", "-h", "now");
Runtime.exec() will take your string and pass it as a command, it is not meant to directly pass arguments. It may work fine as you have it, but if you run into problems, pass your commands in as a String[] (as shown right above)
Hope that helps
