Sending a document by  KM "send to" command using lotus notes

Dear Colleagues,
We have a Lotus Notes server xyz.wdf.sap.corp and we have some inotes email addresses configured on this server which run with URL xyz.wdf.sap.corp:<Port>/webmailredirect.nsf and we want to configure KM in such a way that "send to" command sends the email notification to the users who have lotus notes email addresses on this server. I created channels etc as mentioned in help.sap.com but it still doesnt send email. I always get an error "mail cannot be sent".
Can anyone please tell me how can one configure lotus notes email server to send emails.
Thanks,
Manish

Hi Vibhu,

Thanks,
Manish

  • Sending an email from Lotus Notes release 5.0.4a

    I need to write java code for sending an email from Lotus Notes release 5.0.4a.
    Initially, I tried using Lotus Domino Toolkit for java, but the current release, "Lotus Domino ToolKit for Java/Corba release 5.0.8" is not compatible with the notes client/server we are using(5.0.4a).
    Now, I am trying to use "Lotus Domino Toolkit 2.1" which supports notes version 5.0.3 and higher, but I couldnot find out how to use it to send email.
    Is there are other way in which we can connect to Lotus Notes for sending email. I cannot use SMTP as the Lotus Notes administrator is afraid of security issues so there is no possibility that I can connect to Domino server using java mail API by enabling SMTP on the Domino server.
    I would be thankful if somebody can help me to do this.

    First off - This is very "off topic"
    The Domino SMTP server is not hard to lock down. Any Notes Admin worth his/her salt should know how to do it. Try to persuade them to run the SMTP stuff using name and password authentication only, or restrict access to an IP address range. This is all easy stuff.
    Otherwise DIIOP/CORBA is one way to go. If your toolkit jar files don't work with the server then try using the ones on the server. Look in %noteshome%\data\domino\java for the ncso.jar file.
    This works for me on an AS/400 java VM to WinNT/Linux Domino servers of various versions.
    How to create an email using this method is again not difficult. All you really need is a blank database template. You have to create a document with certain fields in it (all documented) and then save it. That's all there is to it.
    Word of warning DIIOP is not very rapid and careless coding can create problems. Ensure that once you have finished a session you make sure you close it else you will have continual connection problems.
    Try searching around the domino/notes groups on how to actually do this.

  • HOWTO: send a mail through Lotus notes by Java Code

    Dear All,
    I have requirement with me, where i have to write a java code which will send a mail from lotus notes .
    Could you please provide me sample source code and different options for implementing this .

    Generally, whatever program you use to read mail, it will ultimately be sent by a "Mail Transfer Agent" which understand SMTP. I've got Lotus Notes here as my mail reader, but when my programs send mail they use java mail, and send the mail as SMTP using the appropriate mail server (sometimes called the "smart host"). It the mail is for my mailbox the MTA then forwards it to the Lotus Notes mail store.

  • Send SSH Command using java

    Ok. I hate this, but this is they way they have implemented it. I do not have access to the server code that this applicatio sits on, so I am only able to send specif commands with java through there interface. One of the commands for example is: password_reset "username" "new_password", there is also search_user "username", and uinfo "username". One of the command I really want to send is the password_reset command, but before I can do that I need to establish a ssh connection with username, and password. Not the username or password of the user that I am resetting, but the username and password of a user that has the privilege to reset passwords.
    anyway someone said I could just user the execCommand("password_reset " + username + " " + password ) command. If that is true then How do I do the ssh connection? any examples would be great. I have one, but it is not working for some reason.
    Here is the code:
    import java.io.BufferedOutputStream;
    import java.io.BufferedReader;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.InputStreamReader;
    import com.trilead.ssh2.ChannelCondition;
    import com.trilead.ssh2.Connection;
    import com.trilead.ssh2.Session;
    import com.trilead.ssh2.StreamGobbler;
    public class SshTest
      public static void main(String[] args)
        Connection conn = null;
        try
          String host = "something.server.net";
          String user = "someuser";
          String user_pass = "somepassword";
          conn = new Connection(host);
          conn.connect();
          conn.authenticateWithPassword(user, user_pass);
          Session sess = conn.openSession();
          // vusertochange
          sess.execCommand("password_reset vusertochange newpasswordtest");
          /* Read all output with streamgobblers */
          StreamGobbler stdout = new StreamGobbler(sess.getStdout());
          StreamGobbler stderr = new StreamGobbler(sess.getStderr());
          /* Send the password (with a newline!) */
          BufferedOutputStream stdin = new BufferedOutputStream(sess.getStdin());
          stdin.flush();
          //stdin.close(); // This is optional
          /* Wait until the session has ended, maximum 60secs */
          int res = sess.waitForCondition(ChannelCondition.EOF, 60 * 1000);
          if ((res & ChannelCondition.EOF) == 0)
            throw new IOException("A timeout occured while reading the output.");
          /* OK, by now the whole output has been consumed by the two StreamGobblers */
          /* Close the session */
          sess.close();
          /* Show the result of STDERR */
          BufferedReader stderr_reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(stderr));
          while (true)
            String line = stderr_reader.readLine();
            if (line == null)
              break;
            System.out.println("STDERR:" + line);
          /* Show the result of STDOUT */
          BufferedReader stdout_reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(stdout));
          while (true)
            String line = stdout_reader.readLine();
            if (line == null)
              break;
            System.out.println("STDOUT:" + line);
        catch (Exception e)
          e.printStackTrace();
        finally
          if (conn != null)
            conn.close();
    The error I get is:
    STDOUT:cshell won't execute arbitrary command 'password_reset vusertochange newpasswordtest'
    any ideas what I am doing wrong?

    orozcom wrote:

    Don't know much about this, but maybe try 'su' and then 'password_reset ...' instead?

  • Sending HTML email to Lotus Notes

    Guys,
    We have to send en email to our customers in an intra net site. And our SMTP server is Lotus Notes. When ever I send html email, it is sent as attachment. Here is why that happens with html email:
    http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21088385
    Now I am looking for alternative ways to send html email using Java Mail to Lotus Notes client. My last option is RTF or plain text. But still how do I manager the URL links.
    Thanks

    Well, It sounds like you already answered your own question.
    Answer
    In Domino 6.x and later, the following notes.ini settings are enabled by default for any user that has a setting of
    "Prefers Notes Rich Text" in the "Format preference for incoming mail" field in the user's Person document:
    MIME_Convert_HTML_To_Attachment=1
    MIME_Convert_Alternates=0No matter what you code on your side. If you send your messages as HTML the Lotus Notes Mail Server will convert the the HTML to Attachments.

  • Sending work item to Lotus Notes

    We are using SAP 4.7 and Lotus Notes 6.5.
    As work items are created, an email is sent to the recipient's Lotus Notes internet email address (using RSWUWFML2).  It contains a link to the work item.  This works fine.
    We can use the "New message" option in Business Workplace to send an email to an internet email address (in Lotus Notes).  This, too, works fine.
    But.... if we select a work item in Business Workplace, then choose "Other functions" and "Send mail", and send to the same internet address as the "New message" method, the email is received in Lotus Notes - the receiver and sender info appears correctly - but its header now has a note similar to "Please respond to [email subject line] <WORKINGWI.000000383111.%BOR_TRADER%@ abc.com>".  If the recipient tries to send a reply, it wants to send it to this "respond to" info which, of course, fails.
    In addition, the email has a text attachment that says:
    "Go to the following URL:
    If the link is not to a valid server, log on to the SAP system and check the following object:
    System:DEV200
    Client:
    BOR Object Type:WORKINGWI
    BOR Object Key000000383111"
    Obviously this attachment information means absolutely nothing to the users.
    This problem only seems to happen with the "Other functions" "Send mail" option on a work item.
    Any suggestions on what is causing this and how to fix it?
    Thanks
    Ron Knoll

    Hi Ron,
    We have experienced what, from your description, seems to be an identical problem.
    In our case the emails are generated from Audit Management in our development system.
    Have you solved the problem and manage to find an explanation to these problems?
    If so, we are more than happy to hear from you concerning the solution.

    Hi!
    1. Make sure no one else has opened the same file.
    2. Dont put image on your report.

  • Cannot send outgoing mail via Lotus Notes

    Just installed Lotus Notes 6.5 on my PC (Win XP Pro SP3).  Have no problems receiving email ... just cannot send.  I keep getting same error msg:
    "SMTP Protocol returned a permanent error.  Failed with outgoing.verizon.net"
    Does anyone have a solution?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Make sure that you have the outgoing server, outgoing.verizon.net as an authenticated server.  You will need your Verizon Online username and password.  The Verizon Online username/password is set up differently than FiOS - I didn't get one of these accounts until I called and requested one.

    Does anyone have any examples of sending e-mail through Lotus Notes via forms 6i? I have searched the forum and there seems to be very few items on Lotus Notes.

    A simple way is the host-command.
    The command-string is "start mailto:address?body='Text'&subject='Text"
    The length of host-string is limited.
    Text_io can help: Create the cmd-file and then start it thru the host-command.
    Also simple: Create a html-file x.html and start this via host(Start x.html')
    I am interested und this topic, too, because I can't attach files with this simple methods.

    As Thomas pointed out, you can use regular SMTP mail to send the contents to Lotus Notes. You can use the function module SO_OBJECT_SEND or any of the SAP Office function modules to do this.
    Only thing to remember is that the SMTP may have been disabled by your basis team due to security risks involved. An alternative could be a lotus notes connector available from IBM.
