Invoking a JSP from another JSP

I have two JSP and both are calling different servlets. How can I call JSP B from JSP A (perhaps using a button). and how can I pass one field value from JSP B to JSP A when JSP B closes or terminate.

Here is what I'm doing that invokes the second JSP - B
<SCRIPT>
function JumpToURL(url) {
          if (url != '') {
          window.location = url;
</SCRIPT>
<TD><INPUT type="button" name="configBtn" value="Configuration" onclick="JumpToURL('options.jsp');"><a href="/WebAppName/jsp/options.jsp"></a></TD>
The one problem that I'm facing right now is this:
When I start the app or JSP A (JSP that contains the code above), if the FIRST thing that I do is to click on the button above, the app call the second JSP - B, with no problem. But if start the app and click on something else that goes out to the servlet (of JSP A) and then, click on the button above I get the message: "THe pahe cannot be found" or HTTP 404 - File not found Internet Explorer.
Can you help on this please.........Thanks..

  • How to call a method in one JSP from another JSP?

    say that I have 2 JSPs.
    JSP one has a button.
    JSP two has some method that, say, find the square root of the number passed from JPS one.
    How to - when click - the button on page one call the method on page two?
    Please note that I can not use object binding, but I want passing the actual parameter and call the method on page two.
    Please note that this is an update of a previous post on the same topic called "Object scope".
    Thank you all very much.

    No, i dont know how to call other than main methods from other classes
    And one more doubt i have i.e. Like in C can we see the execution of the program like how the code is being compiled step by step and how the value of the variable changes from step to step like(Add Watch).........

  • How can I invoke a JSP using a URL instance from another JSP?

              Hi all.
              I've been developed a J2EE application using Oracle 9iAS.
              Now I'm migrating to WL Server and I have the following problem.
              I was using the following code to read a URL contents from another JSP:
              URL url = config.getServletContext().getResource("/path/to/url/of/textfile.xsl");
              This was working fine in a expanded directory project structure (typical during
              development time) and Oracle 9iAS.
              When I execute this code from my WL packed .ear file I get a URL not found exception.
              Which is the right way to get a resource available from the same context root?
              Thanks in advance for your answers (and sorry for my bad english ;-))

    The previous owner of that machine should have wiped it and install the original OS that shipped with the system leaving the system at the point where the new owner takes over and enters all there own information.
    Before you go much further with this machine you should seriously consider backing up any new stuff you have done and wiping it and starting from scratch. If you keep the system like it is you  will be plagued with problems. Even doing OS updates will prove frustrating.
    Right now the best you can do is to move the Aperture that is on the system into the trash, log into the App Store using your ID and buying Aperture. That should work but to be honest I have never had to do it so can;t say for sure.
    You might want to look at this What to do before selling or giving away your Mac from Apple to read what they recommend.

  • HOW TO CALL A JSP METHOD FROM ANOTHER JSP

    Hi all, I have to JSP1 and JSP2 and i would like to call a method of JS1 from JSP2. Is that possible ??
    Example:
    JSP2 Code
    somewhere in the code ...
    String s = JSP1.getName();
    out.println("EL NOMBRE ES " +s );
    thanks in advance for your help

    No, it is not possible. Infact you cannot write your own methods in JSP. What ever you write in a jsp page is part of _jspService() method. Secondly how can you instantiate another class(generated by JSP), until or unless you know the name of the class that resulted from your JSP. Your JSP page is first converted into .java file which is stored in some package e.g.
    pagecompile.jsp._yourJSPfile.
    I couldnot understand why you need to invoke a method of another JSP in your JSP.
    Hope this helps

  • Invoke Java 3d from a JSP?

    Hi,
    I have a sample java code that invokes a Canvas3d and then invokes a 3D object.
    Our project goal is to create an online application-- A JSP page which will invoke the java 3d object.
    I am working on Oracle JDeveloper and OC4J server.
    Currently , the application runs thru a .java file.
    I want to know if it is technically possible to create a jsp page and transfer the 3d object generated by this java file onto the JSP?
    I tried renaming the main method of the java file to say testMain (made it static method).
    Then thru the JSP , i tried to call this testMain method.
    It doesnt work.
    thanks

    HI
    I was able to add a canvas3D to a webbrowser via an applet. I suppose you can always invoke an applet from a JSP.

  • How to get result from another JSP file?

    I have to write a jsp (my.jsp) to get information from another jsp file (other.jsp).
    The other.jsp return integer value (0 / 1) so that user can tell if certain service is available or not. And in my.jsp I need to collect such result and other information from a text file to make up of a XML string.
    How can I call other.jsp to get the result? Thanks a lot.

    Hi, I think I didn't describe the problem clearly
    enough. In fact, there is a JSP file, and if our
    database is currently connected, the JSP will return
    value 1, otherwise, it will return 0. My java program
    need to get that result, and then form an XML string,
    and send the string back to the client. I'm just
    wonder how can I write such a program to read result
    from JSP file. Thanks a lot.Why is this function implemented as a JSP file? It should be implemented as a bean. It would be simple to get the information you require from that bean.

  • How to use session to passing data from one JSP to another JSP

    Dear All, I had create 2 jsp web page and want to do this:
    1. input some data into the text box and click the submit button, the jsp page
    will open another jsp page and send the text box data to the new open jsp page.
    can any one tell me how to open a new jsp web page and reciev data from another jsp page?
    thanks yu very much!
    the question.jsp got some code like:
    <html>
    <input type= 'text' name = 'txtName' size = 10 >
    <input type= 'submit' name = 'submit'>
    <% some jsp code %>
    </html>
    answer.jsp
    <html>
    <%
    some jsp code here
    %>
    </html>

    Contents of HTML forms are transmitted as name-value pairs, so you can call request.getParameter(String name) with your form field's name in order to access its value:
    String textValue=request.getParameter("txtName");Regards

  • How to carry an object from one JSP to another JSP?

    How can I carry an object from one JSP to another JSP?
    I have a servlet where I am setting an object in request as an attribute and then forwarding to PageA.jsp.
    MyDTO myDTO = new MyDTO();
    request.setAttribute("MyDTO", myDTO);
    RequestDispatcher rd = getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher("/PageA.jsp");
    rd.forward(request, response);
    I can get MyDTO object in PageA.jsp:
    MyDTO myDTO = (MyDTO) request.getAttribute("MyDTO");
    Now PageA.jsp has a form named form_pageA which submits to PageB.jsp. How can I make sure that myDTO object is available in PageB.jsp? I would like to not store it in session.

  • Different ways to invoke a servlet from another servlets?

    Hello,
    I am a bit confused today. I was thinking about all the ways by which I can invoke a servlet from another servlets. I know it can be done by creating an instance of the 2nd servlet in the 1st one. Is there any other way? such as say.... RequestDispatcher perhaps?
    Here is an example to illustrate my point. I have a login.jsp which submits to login.do. login.do search through database and first authenticate email and then the corresponding password. Now its time for displayGame.do. So here how do i do? if it was a displayGame.jsp then i could have used Redirection or Forward but when it is servlets? Can I still go for Redirection or Forward??
    Thank you for reading this confused post. :-)

    if it was a displayGame.jsp then i could have used Redirection or Forward but when it is servlets?Question: do you know what a JSP becomes when you first run it?
    Answer: a servlet.
    So yes, you can use a RequestDispatcher to forward/redirect to a servlet OR a JSP, whatever you like.

  • Passing html object in a JSP to another JSP

    Below, I have a jsp page I want to pass the object name "BP" and all its values to a jsp in another jsp page. I can't use the session object can I? The html the jsp creates is within a form.

  • Invoke a presentation from another presentation

    Hi everybody,
    I need to invoke a presentation from another presentation, to generate an e-mail, like a popup. I would prefer not to use another task to do this. In the parent presentation i need a button Mail that invokes a presentation in which i would have some attributes from the parent presentation. Please your help.

    Hi Eva,
    Know there's a good reason for you not using a Screenflow for this, but I missed it somehow.
    If you had a Screenflow, you could have a transition in the screenflow back to the original presentation and retain the information you entered/changed in the original presentation.
    Thanks,
