Invoking a procedure in the package

Hi All,
I am planning to invoke three procedures into one package...
the main problem is the procedures are like procedures with in the procedures
so while iam invoking do i need to specify the main procedure (or) all the procedures in the package specification?
oracle version: 10g

Are you saying that you have a stucture like this?
PROCEDURE p (p_var IN NUMBER) IS
   < variable declarations >
   PROCEDURE inside_p (p_var2 IN NUMBER) IS
      < inside_p variables >
   BEGIN
      < inside_p body >
   END inside_p;
BEGIN
   < do_stuff >
   inside_p(42);
   < do more stuff >
END p;If so, then you only need to declare p in your package spec, in fact you cannot declate inside_p in your spec since it is only "known" within the scope of p. That is, you cannot even call it from another procedure in the package, let alone form outside.
However, if you have a structure more like:
PROCEDURE inside_p (p_var2 IN NUMBER) IS
   < inside_p variables >
BEGIN
   < inside_p body >
END inside_p;
PROCEDURE p (p_var IN NUMBER) IS
   < variable declarations >
BEGIN
   < do_stuff >
   inside_p(42);
   < do more stuff >
END p;Then you can declare inside_p in the package spec, but do not neccessarily have to. If you want to be able to call inside_p on it's own form outside the package then it needs to be in the package spec. If you just want it to be available to procedures within the package then you do not need to declare it in the space.

  • Query for getting all function and procedure inside the packages

    hi All
    Please provide me Query for getting all function and procedure inside the packages
    thanks

    As Todd said, you can use user_arguments data dictionary or you can join user_objects and user_procedures like below to get the name of the packaged function and procedure names.
    If you are looking for the packaged procedures and functions source then use user_source data dictionary
    select a.object_name,a.procedure_name from user_procedures a,
                  user_objects b
    where a.object_name is not null
    and a.procedure_name is not null
    and b.object_type='PACKAGE'
    and a.object_name=b.object_name

  • Execute procedure in a package using the caller privileges?

    Is it possible to execute a procedure within a package using the privileges of the caller rather than the privileges of the package owner? So if we have a procedure that does a select, one that does an insert, and another for update and a 4th for delete, then we just want to grant execute to user X on the select procedure in the package. This is a developer request. I think I just need to tell the requestor to copy or move the procedure out of the package and into it's own procedure so that it's safe to run by user X and not grant execute on the package since I don't believe it is possible to specify what procedures in a package are granted execute since that command is a blanket for the whole package right?
    Example - fails due to specifying the proc:
    grant execute on scmemaname.pkgname.procname to usr;
    There's no other command to do that is there?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    AUTHID is at the package level ... not the individual function or procedure.
    Create a second package.

    I used the PL/SQL web toolkit provided by OAS4.0.8.1. I believe oracle web agent is replaced by this toolkit.

    Hi,
    Glad that somebody else too got this problem. Well, as I had mentioned in my previous posting too, I think there are some procedures in the package, dbms_lob, like the writeappend, createtemporary etc.. which is not found in my dbms_lob.sql file, I am using 8.0.5, but I found these procedures in the 8i, I think it is becos of that.
    By the way if anybody got this solution and got any workaround, please help me too.
    I am still waiting for the solution to that.

  • How to list dependencies of stored procedure in a package in oracle

    hi gurus,
    can any body help me to solve the below issue?
    how to list dependencies of stored procedure in a package in oracle?
    advanced thanks...

    It sounds like you're going to have trouble because you're trying to track dependencies at a more fine-grained level than Oracle does (at least prior to 11g, which I know does finer-grained dependency tracking for columns, so there may be something that would help you there).
    In Oracle, the entity is the package body. The procedure within the package does not have dependencies and does not depend on anything, it is part of the package body, which does have dependencies. You can see what tables are used by the package body via DBA_DEPENDENCIES. But if you're trying to track the dependencies for a particular procedure in a package, you'd either have to manually examine the code or you'd have to write your own PL/SQL parser.

Also keeping in consideration that this package needs to run every night. I am not sure what I need to do. If anyone can give me some direction it will be very helpful.

    You can call a packaged procedure from PL/SQL just by prefixing the package name, i.e.
    BEGIN
      <<package name>>.<<procedure name>>( <<argument list>> );
    END;If you create a procedure in the package, though, you can call other procedures in the same package without qualifying the procedure name with the package name.

  • How to get the package name of a procedure used in a process flow activity

    Hi all. I'm on OWB 11.2.0.2.0.
    When I used a packaged procedure or function in a mapping operator, I can find out the package.program_unit name by getting the operator's FUNCTION_NAME property. For example,
    OMBRETRIEVE MAPPING '$mapName' OPERATOR '$operName' GET PROPERTIES (FUNCTION_NAME)
    But when the same is used in a process flow activity, I can't find a property name that will give me the same information. I can get the BOUND_NAME, it does not tell me the package name. It must be stored in the activity properties because when you pull up the Synchronize dialog for the activity, it knows the package name.
    Is there a way to get this via an OMBRETRIEVE?
    Thanks.

    ANA, this is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much. I saw REFs also in the OMBRETRIEVE MAPPING/OPERATOR syntax, but went cross-eyed trying to figure out if I could use the same there. The closest I found was GET BOUND_OBJECT.
    Thanks again!

  • Calling the package dynamically inside a procedure

    HI
    i have table which contains contains package name, procedurename,input parameters and output parameters as columns like below.
    Table name is PKG_META_DATA.
    package_name Procedure_name input parameters output parameters
    pkg1 prc1 i_location,i_type o_date
    pkg2 prc3 i_location o_date ,o_prev_date
    Note:Input parameters and output parameters will vary according to package
    Now i need to write a procedure which calls package dynamically and display the output values.
    i have tried it in this way but it it is not working.please help
    declare
    l_text varchar2(1000);
    cursor c1 is select package_name,Procedure_name,input parameters,output parameters from pkg_meta_date;
    begin
    for cur in c1 loop

    --display output values from a package
    dbms_output.put_line( o_date );
    dbms_output.put_line( o_prev_date );

    Now i need to write a procedure which calls package dynamically and display the output values.Why do such a silly and stupid thing? Do you have technical justification for wanting to call code dynamically?
    And if you reallly and truly need to use dynamic PL/SQL calls, then using bind variables is mandatory. Unless you want to fragment and trash the shared pool and waste a lot of CPU by burning it on hard parsing.
    This also means that execute immediate is the wrong choice. (it does not support dynamic binding)
    And if I foam a bit at the mouth with this response - simply that I'm getting utterly frustrated seeing yet again dynamic SQL being (ab)used, without the foggiest notion of how to do so correctly, and with complete ignorance of the repercussions on security and performance.
    Dynamic coding is NOT the best thing since slice bread. It was never even a consideration as a being better choice.
    What it is, is wrong - 99% of the time. Wrong ito design. Wrong for security. Wrong for performance. Wrong for flexibility.

  • How to see the packaged procedures in form builder?

    Hi Experts,
    I have a oarcle apps form in form builder.
    When i want to see the code behind the trigger when pressed button do ,i see that it calls a packaged procedure like
    oksaudet_header.when_button_pressed(p_item => 'STOP_BUTTON');
    I want to see beyond this ,so how to find out this package procedure oksaudet_header.when_button_pressed?
    if its any pll ,how do i know which pll will have this package?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You just need to search for component OKSAUDET_HEADER in Forms Builder (use the 'Find' button). It will take you to the package, and above it you will find the attached library that contains it (if it's an attached library).
    Hope it helps.

    COMMIT;
    END UPDATE_CS_ACTIVITY;
    END UPDATE_ACTIVITY;

    You have create global variables CSREWORK and CSTRACKOUT
    in your package.
    Your have then selected the
    max(cstrackout) ,max(csrework) which would probably pick these variables up.
    Rename your variables to v_CSREWORK and v_CSTRACKOUT or remove altogether as no sign they are being used which should fix that problem. The normal naming standard for oracle is to name variables with a v_ and parameters with a p_ to prevent problems with naming.

  • Getting the metadata of procedures defined inside packages...

    Dear All,
    i want to extract the metadata for procedures and functions in my db.
    i am using the DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL(ObjectType,ObjectName) to get the metadata of certain objects (PROCEDURES,FUNCTIONS and PACKAGE_BODY)
    however this method is not quiet usefull when my target is to get the metadata for a single procedure/function defined inside package's body', where i dont need
    the whole package body to be returned only the specific Procedure/ Function defined in it...
    it seems that the Package Body is defined as one object regardless of how many Procedures / Functions are defined in it...
    isnt there any place/repository that stores the procedures and functions defined inside a package body along with their metadata explicitly one bye one , so i can
    extract them and search them one bye one...
    Thank you
