Invoking BC4J custom methods from a JSP

I developed a JSP application using exclusively BC4J Data tags, but now I have a problem.
I wrote a custom method in the .java file of the Application Module of my BC4J project and I should invoke it from a JSP.
I looked for a specific BC4J Data tag to do it, but I couldn't find it.
How can I do? Should I write a bean to encapsulate the call and use the bean in the JSP?
Is anyone else having the same problem?

Michele,
You would use a scriptlet tag to call the application method. The tag is found in the JSP element wizard under the JSP Tags node. You can also check http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/tags/tags.html for more information on the standard jsp tags.

  • Invoking the scheduler's doScheduledTask method from the jsp

    Hi Folks,
    Could you please throw some ideas on my issue,
    I would like to invoke the scheduler's doScheduledTask method from the jsp.
    approach is like...
    I have JSP and a form. Form has a one text field and i will give some value and clicks on the submit button, it should invoke the scheduler method.
    or
    if you know any other approach to invoke the scheduler's doScheduledTask method from the jsp is invitable.
    Thanks much in advance

    Hi,
    1. Create the form in the jsp and a form handler to process this form, say InvokeSchedulerFormHandler.
    2. Create a variable to refer to the scheduler.
    MyScheduler myScheduler;
    // create getter and setter for this.
    3.. Create a handle method, handleInvokeScheduler(). Do any validations if required.
    4. After the validations, call getMyScheduler().doScheduledTask();
    5. In the jsp, map the submit button to this handle method.
    <dsp:input type="submit" bean="InvokeSchedulerFormHandler.invokeScheduler" value="Submit"/>
    6. Create the .properties file to the form handler and to your scheduler.
    MyScheduler.properties
    $class=com.package.MyScheduler
    $scope=global
    InvokeSchedulerFormHandler.properties
    $class=com.package.InvokeSchedulerFormHandler
    $scope=request
    myScheduler=/com/package/MyScheduler
    (Am wondering about this requirement :) . If you can specify the reason, it will be helpful).
    Hope this helps.
    Keep posting the questions / updates.

  • How to invoke a custom adapter from a BPEL process

    Hi guys,
    I've implemented a custom outbound adapter and deployed successfully on Weblogic V.10.3.4.
    My current installation also consists of Oracle SOA Suite 11g / JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.4.0)
    In the Weblogic administrator's console,
    *1.* I navigated to:
    Summary of Deployments -> AdapterName -> Configuration -> Outbound Connection Pools
    *2.* Selected: javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory and added new JNDI name for Outbound Connection Instance: "*eis/HelloWorld*"
    My task is to invoke the custom adapter from a BPEL process.
    I altered the customAdapter-config.xml so as to be able to use custom adapter wizard from JDeveloper's "Service Adapters" palette,
    and fullfilled the custom adapter wizard's fields accordingly. The 3rd step of the wizard requires Connection Information.
    I added: "*eis/HelloWorld*" in the "*Connection Factory Location*" field.
    Deployed BPEL process successfully, but testing failed due to binding.jca-12510 error:
    "The JCA Binding Component was unable to establish an outbound JCA CCI connection due to the following issue: BINDING.JCA-12510 JCA Resource Adapter location error. Unable to locate the JCA Resource Adapter via .jca binding file element <connection-factory/> The JCA Binding Component is unable to startup the Resource Adapter specified in the <connection-factory/> element: location='eis/HelloWorld'. The reason for this is most likely that either 1) the Resource Adapters RAR file has not been deployed successfully to the WebLogic Application server or 2) the '<jndi-name>' element in weblogic-ra.xml has not been set to eis/HelloWorld. In the last case you will have to add a new WebLogic JCA connection factory (deploy a RAR). Please correct this and then restart the Application Server "I tried to apply (just for testing) "eis/FileAdapter" in the "Connection Factory Location" field of the custom adapter wizard,
    and BPEL successfully invoked the adapter.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks,
    George

    George, What deployment do you have this associated with?

  • HOW TO CALL A JSP METHOD FROM ANOTHER JSP

    Hi all, I have to JSP1 and JSP2 and i would like to call a method of JS1 from JSP2. Is that possible ??
    Example:
    JSP2 Code
    somewhere in the code ...
    String s = JSP1.getName();
    out.println("EL NOMBRE ES " +s );
    thanks in advance for your help

    No, it is not possible. Infact you cannot write your own methods in JSP. What ever you write in a jsp page is part of _jspService() method. Secondly how can you instantiate another class(generated by JSP), until or unless you know the name of the class that resulted from your JSP. Your JSP page is first converted into .java file which is stored in some package e.g.
    pagecompile.jsp._yourJSPfile.
    I couldnot understand why you need to invoke a method of another JSP in your JSP.
    Hope this helps

  • Calling custom methods from Nested Application Modules

    We are having a problem with passing parameters to our nested App Modules.
    We have a custom method in our nested app module and when we drag that method from our data control palette in our page everything seems to work just fine. We are binding our NamedData values to #{requestScope.<field>} where the fields are inputText controls. When we run it will execute the function but the parameters are null.
    It seems to me that the Nested App Module can not evaluate the EL expression, or in other words when it gets evaluated it returns a null.
    Can anyone help with this?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    If you use an EL expression of some hard-coded value instead of #{requestScope.XXX} does that value correctly get passed to the function?
    In other words, are you 100% sure that EL expression is not evaluating to null ?
    If you drop an AM method as a parameter form on a page, you'll see that by default it's NamedData elements use EL expressions that reference attribute bindings that are bound to local page-def variables, rather than to #{requestScope.something}

  • How to invoke Application Module method from entity object methods

    Hi,
    We have an existing Application Module which provides some validation logic. We are using OperatingBinding or getting the Application Module instance from the bindings and then invoking the app module methods in the view controller project.
    But in our current scenario, We need to invoke the application module method from the setAttribute method in the entity object when ever an entity attribute value is changed . I believe we can call createRootApplicationModule method to create application module instance. But this may lead to performance overhead.
    Can you please suggest, if there is any alternative to invoke the application module method inside the business components.
    What is the best way to create

    We have a pricing service, which was developed as a separate application. We need to invoke the pricing service with the change in certain attributes of the entity object and update some of the attributes of the current entity object. At present we are handling these calls to the pricing service in the ui layer in the valueChangeListener.
    But we would like to move this service call into setAttribute method as we are unable to prevent the call to the service if the model validations fail. I am looking for the best possible approach for invoking the service calls from the entity objects.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Oracle BI EE 11g – Action Framework - Invoke a Java Method from Action links

    Hello All,
       I have a requirement to save OBIEE 11g report into shared drive. I have created a EJB by using the below link and successfully deployed the application in server(bi_server1) .
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/09/oracle-bi-ee-11g-action-framework-java-ejbs-and-pdf-watermarks/
    When Im trying to call Invoke a Java method, it is showing "No Content" . Can anybody please share with me the sample "ActionFrameworkConfig.xml" file used for Invoke a Java method.
    My OBIEE version is : 11.1.1.7.131017
    Thanks.

    1. check your t3 port no, in my case it's 7001.
    so i changed "<jndi-url>t3://localhost:9704</jndi-url>" to "<jndi-url>t3://localhost:7001</jndi-url>"
    2. if you run obiee 11.1.1.6.0 above, you don't need below.
    <credentialmap>oracle.bi.actions</credentialmap>
    so please drop this line.
    3. restart your server and check there's no error log when loading ActionFrameworkConfig.xml.
    Good Luck !!!

  • How to invoke a Servlet method from application

    please help me.the scenario is as follows
    1)a servlet is placed on the server and application has invoked servlet with URL and URL Connection class
    but how do i call a certain method of servlet on the server from the application.Let suppose the servlet's method to be invoked is print(String s).How it can be done from application.

    As GrayMan suggested, Servlets are intended to be used for HTTP communication.
    If you want to open common logic to multiple clients, use EJBs, CORBA or some type of Web Service (SOAP, XML-RPC).
    When you send a request to a servlet, the doPost or doGet method will be invoked. Products such as STRUTS allow you do 'map' to other classes. I suggest avoiding this.
    Personally, I avoid STRUTS like a bad disease. Using STRUTS instead of just learning Servlets/JSP adds a lot of overhead. I prefer performance over development time. A good example of this is that ANY request that comes in over the WEB has ALL variables from the calling page (text boxes, radio buttons and such) made avaialable through the HttpServletRequest.getParameter(String parameterName) method. STRUTS requires you to build a subclass of it's ActionForm classes that is nothing more than a JavaBean with fields that match that of the web page. STRUTS will look at all the parameters in the request and all the fields in the Bean and assign any matches from the request to the Bean. The Bean is instanciated and the matching logic performed just to give you access to objects you already have access to.
    Just my 2 cents, avoid STRUTS like an STD.

  • Calling an ejbLoad method from a JSP

    Hi,
    I am creating an auction web site. To handle a user adding items for an auction I am using BMP Entity beans. I have successfully created an entity bean to add an item to my database.
    However my problem is retrieving this information back form the database. I believe this is achieved by calling the ejbFindByPrimaryKey(Integer ID) method .
    I am not using a value object to represent my getter and setter methods, but do I need to?
    When a user registers i have the following code in my JSP to create the entity bean...
    Context initCTX = new InitialContext();
    Object obj = initCTX.lookup("RemoteInterface");
    TestAuctionHome home = (TestAuctionHome)javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(obj ,TestAuctionHome.class);
    TestAuction TestAuctionBean = home.create(name, description, quantity); This works fine. The bean is created and stored and all results are written to the database.
    In a seperate JSP for viewing all available auctions should I call the ejbLoad() method or the ejbFindByPrimaryKeyI was thinking something along the lines of this...
    Context initCTX = new InitialContext();
    Object obj = initCTX.lookup("RemoteInterface");
    TestAuctionHome home = (TestAuctionHome)javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(obj ,TestAuctionHome.class);
    TestAuction TestAuctionBean = home.findByPrimaryKey(primaryKey);Any help is appreciated as once I can retrieve data from the database I should be able to fly through the rest!

    Hi,
    If the only intention is to load all the auctions available in the database and display it to the user, I would suggest not to use either of these methods.
    Reason
    If you are using ejbFindByPrimaryKey, then many beans should be loaded to memory before any data retrieval. ie if the user has 10 auctions, then 10 entity beans should be called seperatly and ejbLoad of these beans should be called. this will involve atleast 10 extra network connections to the database. this is ofcourse costly.
    Instead, you can write a session facade and directly open a connection to the database and fetch the results. This results can be populated to the Value Objects and sent back to the client, where he can format and display all the auctions available to the user.
    If your intention is only to show a particular auction only, findByPrimaryKey is fine. And ofcourse after this method call and before an method invocation on the bean , the container will automatically call the ejbLoad.

  • How to call a class method from a jsp page?

    Hi all,
    i would like to create a basic jsp page in jdev 1013 that contains a button and a text field. When clicking the button, i would like to call a method that returns a string into the text field.
    The class could be something like this:

    return "Hello World";
    How do i go about this?
    Thanks

  • Using arguments to invoke an excel method from PL/SQL with Oracle COM

    Hello Gentlemen,
    I has been trying to export an excel sheet to a PDF file format using “ExportAsFixedFormat” method, with no success or error message.
    Moreover, I tried to use “PrintOut” method, if I use it with no parameters/arguments it executed without errors and display the sheet to an application installed in my PC (“SnagIt”), if I try to use it with an argument to assign a printer for it, I got this error message “PrintOut method of Workbook class failed xlmain11.chm”.
    I believe I have a problem with using arguments, and I don’t know how to use it in a proper way; the code I used is listed below for your review and your kind help, thank you a lot, and I appreciate so much your helpful feedback.
    Best regards,
