Involving an Infocube in 2 Multiproviders

Hi
I am in a situation where i need to include a ZInfocube in two multiproviders.ie..One with a Sales cube and the other with a Workcenter/operation cube.Just wanted to get it clear on whther i go on with it.....I am afraid the query performance would be very low aswell but i got no option.Any inputs would be highly appreciated..
manythanks
arun

There will not be any impact, as you will run the report on the anyone of the multiprovider,
when you run the report on a multiprovider it will hit the inproviders which r used in that multiprovider, it does not whether the same infoprovider is used in the other multiproviders.

  • How to add one infocube into multiple Multiproviders

    Dear Experts,
I got a task to add one infocube into many(10) multiproviders. As per my knowledge,I have to add it manually by going through each and every multiprovider. Like this i have to do it for around 15 Infocubes and it's really time killing activity.
Request you to help me out, is there any easier way to achieve this.
Thanks in advance for your valuable assistance.
    Regards,
    Ramesh-Kumar.

    HI,
You have to add each Infocube manually....Because after adding you have to assign Chars and KFs in the Multiprovider to the Particular Infoproviders...So you have to do this Task Manually only...There is no such one go process.....
    Thanks

  • Creation of custom Infocubes, extractors and multiprovider

    Hi all,
Can somebody give me the information regarding the creation of custom Infocubes, extractors, and multiproviders. It would ne great if you could give me some examples regarding the above in SD.
    Thanks,
    Sekhar

We will go for the creation of custom infocubes
when the existing business content doesnot suite your requirement.
when u r using the one existing business content extractor and u need the same requirement for another cube u can create your own extractor of the same type without changning the existing one.
we will use multiproviders for reporting purpose.  suppose if u are having some 3 infocubes and u want to display the fields from the 3 cubes then go for the creation of multiprovider.

  • Open Hub Vs Infospoke

    Hi All,
In BW 7 We are using Open Hub & previously using Infospoke in BW 3.5. My question is in infospoke we have the flexibility of using BADI but in Open Hub we dont have that option. can we still use infospoke instead of Open HUB. Are there any advantages of open hub over infospoke.
    Thanks,
    Kiran.

    Hi,
The open hub service enables you to distribute data from an SAP BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. With this, you can ensure controlled distribution using several systems. The central object for the export of data is the InfoSpoke. Using this, you can define the object from which the data comes and into which target it is transferred.
Through the open hub service, SAP BW becomes a hub of an enterprise data warehouse. The distribution of data becomes clear through central monitoring from the distribution status in the BW system.
    Functions
BW objects such as InfoCubes, ODS objects, or InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can act as open hub data sources. You can select database tables or flat files as open hub destinations. Both a full and a delta mode are also available as the extraction mode.
Components of the Open Hub Service
The open hub service is made up of the following objects:
    InfoSpoke
The central object for the data export is the InfoSpoke.
    The InfoSpoke defines the following:
u2022 The open hub data source from which the data is extracted
    u2022 The extraction mode
u2022 The open hub destination into which the data is delivered.
In addition, you can also select which data selection is to be extracted from which InfoProviders. This selection ensures that a destination for different points in time from the same InfoProvider can be supplied with data for different selection criteria using a delta. The selection set is freely configurable as long as extraction has not taken place in the delta mode. Once it has, this no longer applies.
    Open Hub Data Source
BW objects such as InfoCubes, ODS objects, MultiProviders and MultiProviders and InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can function as open hub data sources. If you use an InfoCube with non-cumulative key figures as a data source, refer to the note regarding the settings on the Selection tab page in Creating InfoSpokes.
    Extraction Mode
An InfoSpoke can extract data in two ways: in full mode (F) and in delta mode (D). See InfoSpoke Extraction Mode.
    Open Hub Destination
Database tables (from the database in the BW system) and flat files (CSV) can act as open hub destinations. See also Extraction to Database Tables and Extraction to Flat Files. You can extract the data from a database to a non-SAP system using APIs with a third-party tool. See also Extraction to Non-SAP Systems.
The open hub destination includes all information about a target system for the InfoProvider data: type of destination, name of the flat file or the database table. It also contains a logical target system. The logical target system is used to structure the individual open hub destinations in the open hub monitor. The open hub monitor groups the requests according to logical target system, open hub destination and InfoSpoke. By specifying a logical target system, you get a better overview of the individual open hub requests.

  • Automizing Data Download from an Infoprovider to a Spreadsheet

    Hi ,
I have some Infoproviders with transaction data in it. I need to do the following.
    1) All fields in each InfoProvider should be exported and included in the flat file.
    2) This Flat file needs to be stored on a server.
    3)  A process chain should incorporate this to automize the above process.
    Regards
    Arjun

    Hi Arjun,
              Have this
    Creating InfoSpokes
    Procedure
           1.      In the main menu of the Administrator Workbench, choose Tools ® Open Hub Service ® Edit InfoSpoke Enter a technical name for your InfoSpoke. You can also select a template.
           2.      Choose  Create InfoSpoke...
           3.      Enter a technical name for your InfoSpoke.
    Tab Page: General
           4.      On the General tab page, select a data source. You can choose from an InfoCube, ODS objects, MultiProviders or InfoObjects (attributes or texts).
           5.      Select a destination. You can also enter the technical name of a destination that you are about to create.
           6.      Select an extraction mode. See InfoSpoke Extraction Mode.
           7.      Specify the number of rows per data package for the data records to be extracted. You can use this parameter to control the maximum size of a data package, and hence also how many main memories need to be made available to structure the data package.
    Tab Page: Destination
           8.      Choose the Destination tab page and enter a description.
           9.      Select a Logical Target System.
       10.      Select one of the following destination types:
¡        Database table: For the settings Deleting the Table Before the Extraction and Technical Key, read Extraction to a Database Table. Using the indicator Notification to Third-Party Tools you also have the option of extracting data from a third-party tool. See also Extraction to Non-SAP Systems. Enter the name of the RFC destination for your third-party tool into the RFC Destination field. You can then display the parameter table for the third-party tool using Parameters.
¡        File (CSV). Either choose Application Server or specify a local directory; specify a delimiter of type Character. If you choose the application server as the storage for the file, you can select a Logical File Name or Logical File Name from the dropdown box. If you choose Logical File Name, you get to the transaction for creating logical file names by double clicking on the field for the file name. See Extraction to Flat Files.
    Tab Page: InfoObjects
       11.      On the InfoObjects tab page, select the InfoObjects that need to be transferred. In doing so, the available fields are displayed in the right half of the screen, and you can transfer them into the left half of the screen by using the arrow keys.
The pushbutton Key Fields for the Table Start enables you to place key fields at the start of the field list. When extracting in database tables, it is necessary to extract such a field list. With flat files, you need to specify the field list sequence yourself.
    Tab Page: Selection
       12.      From the Selection tab page, you can restrict the selected fields even further. As a restriction, only simple selections of single values and intervals are possible. After confirming you selection, you can also exclude single values or intervals via Selection Category. Do so by clicking only the icon  or  (included) and then switch to  or  (excluded). The default setting is Included.
Extraction of InfoCubes with non-cumulative key figures:
Set the filter value for 0RECORDTP (record type) to ‘1’. In this way, all markers are extracted that are in the compressed data from the InfoCube. You can extract non-cumulatives in which you compress the InfoCube in regular intervals and, afterwards, extract with 0RECORDTP = ‘1’.
    Tab Page: Transformation
       13.      From the tab page Transformation, you can transform the data to be transferred using a BAdI. See InfoSpoke with Transformations using BAdI.
    Activating and Executing InfoSpokes
       14.      Choose Activate InfoSpoke .
       15.      After successful activation, choose  Extraction in the Dialog Process. A status log is displayed.
If you do not want to start extraction straight away, that is, you want to schedule it, you need to include the InfoSpoke into a process chain. See also Including InfoSpokes in Process Chains.
    Result
You have extracted data from an open hub data source into a database table or a flat CSV file.
    For automizing u'r extraction
    Including InfoSpokes in Process Chains
    Use
If you want to automatically execute and schedule an InfoSpoke, you can include this as an application process in the procedure for a process chain. The scheduling of an extraction by using an InfoSpoke is only possible by using a process chain in its start process.
    Prerequisites
You have created an InfoSpoke and have saved it as being active. If you extract the data to a file, the file has to be on the application server.  Extraction to a local file requires a GUI connection and cannot be executed in the background as is the case for a process chain.
    Procedure
           1.      Call up the process chain maintenance. Choose  Process Chain Maintenance from the Administrator Workbench toolbar. The Process Chain Maintenance Planning View screen appears.
           2.      In the left-hand screen area of the required  display component, navigate to the process chain in which you want to insert your InfoSpoke. Double-click to select it. The system displays the process chain plan view in the right-hand side of the screen.
If no suitable process chain is available, you need to create a new process chain. You can find additional information under Creating a Process Chain.
           3.      To insert a process for extraction by means of an InfoSpoke, choose  Process Types in the left-hand area of the screen. The system now displays the process categories available.
           4.      In the process category Loading Process and Post Processing, choose the application process type  Data Export into External Systems.
           5.      Insert the Data Export into External Systems application type with Drag&Drop into the process chain. The dialog box for inserting a process variant appears.
           6.      In the Process Variant field, enter the name of the InfoSpoke that you want to include in the process chain, or select it by means of the input help.
           7.      Proceed further as described in Creating Process Chains.
    Result
You have included your InfoSpoke in a process chain. As soon as you activate the process chain, the extraction starts according to your specifications in the start process.
    Example
The following graphic illustrates an example of how a process chain is used to include an InfoSpoke. The processes for deleting and building indexes are optional, because they help to improve performance.

  • BW 3.5 and 7.0 in parallel

    Hi
We have a BW 3.5 system which is connected to ECC 5.0 OLTP. We are going for a new implementation of BI 7.0 system, while continuing to use the BW 3.5 system for at least a year . So after the implementation we would have one source system and two target BW system ( 3.5 and 7.0 ) .
What are the precautions we need to take before going live with BI 7.0 system?
Any experiences shared / any useful notes we can refer would be much appreciated
    Thanks
    Arun

    10) diff between 3.x info spoke and 7.0 I spoke ?
    InfoSpokes are no longer used with BI 7.0. They can be used with 3.x emulated Data Sources;
    use open hub destination  instead.
BI objects such as InfoCubes, DataStore objects, MultiProviders or InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can function as open hub data sources.
11). if I have routine in 3.x how do u migrate in to 7.0?
Automatically there is no tool to convert the 3.x routines to routines in transformations.Manually you have to create transformation with the help fof ABAP programming.
    12) what is rule group and semantic group
Semantic group is a feature in the DTP (data transfer process) that is used define a key for evaluation.
The key determines which records should be detained when processing. For example, if you define "order number" and line as the key, if you have one errorenous record with an order number 123456 line 7, then any other records received in that same request or subsequent requests with order number 123456 line 7 will also be detained.
Think of semantic groups as the key of the error stack - it's a data quality feature really.
A rule group is a group of transformation rules. It contains one transformation rule for each key field of the target. A transformation can contain multiple rule groups.
Rule groups allow you to combine various rules. This means that for a characteristic, you can create different rules for different key figures.

  • Multiprovider Definition changed..Impact on query

    Hi,
I had created a query on multiprovider...
Now the underlying Infocubes  (Two)  of multiproviders needs to be changed as the datamodel completly changed..
I had copied both the cubes to the new cubes..
Now i need to include this new two  cubes in multiprovider which the query can use...
What would be the best procedre for it?
IF i directly change the defintion of multprovider then query gets affected ..
as the original query has lot of formulas and selections and i do not want to play with original query definiton..
Any idea of how to procede..
Since this multiprovider has been used in roles i cannot create a new multiprovider..if i have to create new multicube then i also need to create roles ( we have three kinds of roles)...

    Hi,
Changing the underlying cube means, are you going to remove any existing field or only going to include fields?.
If you are going to remove existing objects from cube, defenetly your original query will be affected.
Or if you are going to include some more fields with existing fields, you can just include the new cubes and scrap the existing cubes from multiprovider( since new cubes will be having the structure of existing one also).
Then just a copy your original query into a new query (on same multirprovider) , if you want you can adjust the query with the new fields added , otherwise use the same.

  • Virtual Infoprovider AND No Marker Update

    Hi BW Experts,
I am unable to get an idea when i am reading the following concepts.
    1. NO MARKER UPDATE
    2. HOW TO CREATE VIRTUAL INFOPROVIDER
Can anyone tell me with example.
I have read forums but i could not get the correct information.
    Thanks in advance.

hi anjali i am giving data on wat u asked.pls tell me where u have problem.so that i can clarify you more
    InfoProvider
    Use
InfoProviders that contain real-time InfoCubes provide the data basis for BI Integrated Planning. Aggregation levels are a type of virtual InfoProvider and are created on the basis of a real-time InfoCube, or a MultiProvider that contains InfoCubes of this type. Aggregation levels are specifically designed so that you can plan data manually or change it using planning functions.
For more information about the types of InfoProvider, see:
    ●     Real-Time InfoCubes
    ●     MultiProvider
    Integration
In the Modeling functional area of the Data Warehousing Workbench, you create InfoProviders as the data basis for BI Integrated Planning.
For more information, see InfoProviders, Creating InfoCubes, and Creating MultiProviders.
In the Planning Modeler, you select the InfoProvider that you want to use as the data basis for BI Integrated Planning. On the Aggregation Levels tab page, you create one or more aggregation levels for this InfoProvider.
For more information, see Aggregation Levels.
    Prerequisites
You have created a suitable InfoProvider as the data basis for BI Integrated Planning and filled it with data.
    Features
    InfoProvider Selection
You can restrict the number of InfoProviders displayed by specifying the technical name or description or by making an entry for last changed by.
You can change, check and save the selected InfoProviders.
    InfoObjects
On the InfoObjects tab page, the system displays the InfoObjects that belong to the InfoProvider (see InfoObject). They are listed in the following tables:
    ●     Dimensions, with the characteristics assigned to them
    ●     Navigation Attributesfor the characteristics contained in the InfoProvider
    ●     Key figures
Under Settings, you can choose to display additional columns.
    Characteristic Relationships and Data Slices
In change mode you can define the permitted combinations of characteristic values in the form of characteristic relationships and create data slices for the data that you want to protect for real-time-enabled InfoCubes.
For more information, see Characteristic Relationships and Data Slices.
    Default Key Date for Planning
On the Settings tab page in change mode, you can set a Key Date as the default key date for planning. If time-dependent objects, such as attributes or hierarchies, are used in objects of the planning model, you can always refer to the default key date for planning. In this way, you can ensure that a uniform key date is used in the planning model. The objects in the planning model that are relevant for this are characteristic relationships, data slices and parameters of planning functions.
if we choose NO MARKER UPDATE option when compressing non cummulative cube the reference point is not updated but the requests are moved to Request 0
reward me if u felt theses are helpfull to u.
and if not reply me where u are not getting.

  • InfoSpoke Data Target Name

    Hello,
I searched the forums but I could not find the info I am looking for. Actually there is not much info about InfoSpokes. My questions is; how can I find the data target on which infospoke is running (if I have infospoke name how can I find the data target name?)? Or vice versa (if I have data target name how can I find the infospokes that are extracting data from that data target?). Is there any t-code for this?
I appreciate if you could infor me.
    Thanks and Regards,
    John

    Hi
    InfoSpoke
The central object for the data export is the InfoSpoke.
    The InfoSpoke defines the following:
    ●     The open hub data source from which the data is extracted
    ●     The extraction mode
    ●     The open hub destination into which the data is delivered.
In addition, you can select which selection of data is extracted from which InfoProvider. The selection ensures that a destination can be provided with data from the same InfoProvider at different times using a delta. As long as extraction has not yet taken place in delta mode, the selection set is freely configurable. Once it has, this no longer applies.
    Open Hub Data Source
BI objects such as InfoCubes, DataStore objects, MultiProviders or InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can function as open hub data sources.
Database tables (from the database in the BI system) and flat files (CSV) can act as open hub destinations. See Database Tables As Destinations and Files As Destinations. You can extract the data from a database to a non-SAP system using APIs with a third-party tool. See Third-Party Tools As Destinations.
The open hub destination contains all the information about the target system for the InfoProvider data: type of destination, name of the flat file or database table. It also contains a logical target system. The logical target system is used to structure the individual open hub destinations in the open hub monitor. The open hub monitor groups the requests according to logical target system, open hub destination and InfoSpoke. By specifying a logical target system, you get a better overview of the individual open hub requests.

  • BEx Analyzer - Hiding infocubes/multiproviders from querying

    Hello,
We are trying to deny the ability of users to query directly against multiproviders/infocubes/DSO's in BEx Analyzer.  We recently upgraded to 7.3 and have migrated users to 7.x analyzer, but we want to eliminate this specific functionality for the users, as it seems to add unnecessary confusion when they are looking for queries within Infoareas.  An example:
In this situation when viewing the queries for the infoprovider 0CRM_VC12, the infocube also populates this list.  We ideally do not want this functionality.
Are there certain security roles we can initiate for this task?
    Thanks!

    Hello Nanda,
Unfortunately this disables the infoareas, which is not the functionality we are looking for.  Thanks for the help though.
We are going to test disabling these "queries" via a security role, S_RS_COMP.  I've noticed when looking at table RSRREPDIR, for example, with this infoprovider, there would be a query called !!A0CRM_VC12 that would be inactivated if no one accessed this infoprovider to query directly against.  When it is accessed though, this query gets activated.  Hopefully this removes the infoprovider from showing in the query selection.
I'll report whether this is successful or not.  Thanks everyone for your time.
