BEx Analyzer - Hiding infocubes/multiproviders from querying
Hello,
We are trying to deny the ability of users to query directly against multiproviders/infocubes/DSO's in BEx Analyzer. We recently upgraded to 7.3 and have migrated users to 7.x analyzer, but we want to eliminate this specific functionality for the users, as it seems to add unnecessary confusion when they are looking for queries within Infoareas. An example:
In this situation when viewing the queries for the infoprovider 0CRM_VC12, the infocube also populates this list. We ideally do not want this functionality.
Are there certain security roles we can initiate for this task?
Thanks!
Hello Nanda,
Unfortunately this disables the infoareas, which is not the functionality we are looking for. Thanks for the help though.
We are going to test disabling these "queries" via a security role, S_RS_COMP. I've noticed when looking at table RSRREPDIR, for example, with this infoprovider, there would be a query called !!A0CRM_VC12 that would be inactivated if no one accessed this infoprovider to query directly against. When it is accessed though, this query gets activated. Hopefully this removes the infoprovider from showing in the query selection.
I'll report whether this is successful or not. Thanks everyone for your time.

Execute button for BEx Analyzer in the Query Designer
Hello,
My current BEx Query Designer 7.1 and we are using Excel 2003. Currently, I can execute query through BEx Web but I am also looking for green check button of BEx Analyzer also. Could you please tell me how can I incorporate/add this BEx Analyzer check box in Query Designer so that I can execute query both in BEx Web as well as BEx Analyzer.
Thanks very much in advance.
Regards,
MdHello Hyma/Prasanna,
Thanks for your reply and it's solved my problem.
If I logon BEx Analyzer and open or changed query through it, I can see green check box in Query Designer. Now I can run query both in BEx Analyzer as well as BEx Web.

Front-end memory and limitation cells of the BEX Analyzer
Hi BI experts,
After BW upgrade from BI 7.3 to BI 7.4 some heavy workbooks stopping to work, the error is "Client Out of Memory", the cause of this error is the memory capacity of .NET framework, this process can allocate a maximum of approximately 1.2 gigabytes (GB).
The notes 1040454 and 1411545 says that it´s possible to execute something like 750,000 cells but we made some adjusts and we could increase it until 1,800,000 cells, below some configuration we´ve made:
Query Designer:
Result Rows Always
Supress;
Display as Text or key;
Supress Zeros as Active (All Values = 0) and Effect on rows and columns.
Bex Analyzer:
Display Sort Icons Disable;
Apply formating Disable;
Allow navegation Disable;
We need some orientation how to further increase this limitation, or leaving the query lighter or increasing the memory limitation of .net framework or backing to BEX 3.5 funcionalities.
Has anyone encountered such problems in the update? Some alternative solution ?
Thanks !Hello Caio,
The limitation lies on .Net Framework 32 bits which can handle 1.2 gigabytes.
You are reaching 1.8 Million because your datacells has no data or almost no data.
There is a KBA documenting your issue: SAP Note 1860872
There you will find a recommendation of Openhub, that allows you to extract data.
Just remember that BEx Analyzer is a tool for query navigation, not mass data extraction.

Bex analyzer variable screen input ready?
Hi Experts,
If we open a query in the Bex analyzer (BI 7.0 netweaver 2004s), it seems only possible for us to enter variables in the dialog screen after the pushbuttons Ctrl + K for each variable. Is it possible to change the default setting in the BEx analyser variable screen, so that the variables are ready for input (without the ctrl + k)?
In the SAPhelp information, only the following information is provided.
Prerequisites
In the BEx Analyzer, you have executed a query that contains variables and you want to change or personalize one or all of the variables in the query.
Procedure
1. In the analysis toolbar, choose Change Variable Values or in the menu, choose BEx Analyzer ® Change Variable Values.
The Select Values for Variables dialog box appears. Follow the instructions to select a value to assign to the variable.
2. Specify a variant name and values for the variables for which you want to change the current values.
Switch to display mode or use the pushbuttons Ctrl + K to enter values.
Kind regards
Dennis

D.C.M. van den OordHello All,
We have a similar issue only in 2004s query designer when we execute a query via the web. We have the variable set up to accept multiple single values and we can pick multiple single values and add them, however, we cannot paste a list of, for example, personnel numbers from an excel spreadsheet into the web selection box to add multiple single values at one time. Does this functionality exist?

I am facing Problem with my Bi Bex Analyzer 7.10 .
Hi All,
I am facing Problem with my Bi Bex Analyzer 7.10 .
I have Windows 7 with Office 2007 insatlled on my Machine and SAP GUI 7.10 with patch 11.
When i Open the Bex Analyzer and click on OPEN Query, it shows me the German Laguage istead of English ( Open Query )
and the Open query Icon is not responding
Hence my Bex Analayzer is not working .
Is there any MS Office 2007 Patch that i have to istalled on the The Machine .
Please advice.
Thanks in advance.Hi Nilesh,
To see the text in English, you have to login to backend with Language as "EN" in the Logon Screen.
To make the icons work in Analysis and Design Toolbar, you can install in KB from Microsoft.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907417/
Close Analyzer, install this KB and then Launch Analyzer.
This will solve your issue.

Remove Tabs and Add picture in BEx analyzer
Hi All,
Our customer runs the query through BEx analyzer. when they run the query , it shows the author name (The person who created Query) and Status of data ... They don't want to see that.. they also wanted to add pictureof their company in the Report.
If i create a web template then how it will applied to query in BEx analyzer. and if i have 8 to 10 different queries then do i need to have to create 10 different web templates ?
please give your valuable inputs on this..
Regards,
BI NEWYou can create a custom web template and make it the default template so that that template gets called for any query.
Default templates have been discussed in great detail in the forums - search the forums on the same and you will get what you want.... -
Launch of BEx Analyzer via RRMX, other transaction?
Transaction RRMX has been a common means for us to launch the BEx Analyzer in our BW 3.x system. After upgrading to NW04s, transaction RRMX continues to call the 3.x BEx Analyzer. Is there a way to have this call the new NW04s (7.0) BEx Analyzer or perhaps to call it from a different backend transaction?
Regards,
RodHi Bala
We have upgraded our development box to 2004S including front end ( SP9 and FEP 903). As we are not able to perform old 3.5 functionalities in 2004S with FEP 903 we have decided to go back to 3.x Bex Analyzer.
As you explained below, can you please shred some light how to configure to launch only 3.x BEx anayzer from START->PROGRAM->BUISNESS EXPLORER. We dont want to see the 2004S BEx analyzer if we navigate from START menu.
I am able to bring 3.X analyzer through RRMX after making changes in the GLOBAL SETTINGS as you said.
I am not able to locate Analyzer under BEx in my PC as you mentioned below.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\BEx\Analyzer]
"LAUNCH_VERSION"="LEGACY
Can you provide me more details for the sentence "For non NW04s BW system to launch only 3.x BEX, there is a fix that need to be applied to the backend system" as you mentioned previously.
I appreciate your help.
Thanks

Launching BeX Analyzer from BeX Query Designer
Hi,
We are using BeX Frontend version 7.x.
In the Query Designer, when you presss the 'Execute' button, it generally opens the report on the web (calls the portal). Is there any way to change this so that when you press 'Execute', it runs the report on the BeX Analyzer?
Best Regards,
RajibHello...
I regret to inform you, there is no way to do such a thing.
You cannot call via "Query Designer" the "BEx Analyzer".
I don't thing my suggestion is very helpful, but as workaround, you can call via SAPGUI, with transaction RMMX.
I personally suggest you to install and use the BI Java stack, since the BI 7.0 addons was designed to work together with an BI Java Portal.
Thanks...
Best regards,

Cannot open query in Excel (BEX analyzer)
Hello Experts,
Issue: Cannot open the BEX report in Excel but can open the same report on IE.
1) I am trying to open a BEX report "ReportA" in Excel (BeX Analyzer).
2) As soon as the report opens it shows me a message "Do you want to open the 3.X workbook for upgrade"
3) I click on "OK"
4) then i get a message window listing a lot of warnings liike " Access to project denied" "creation of items failed"
5) i click on "OK"
6) Now, variable entry screen appears
7) i enter values and click on "OK" the report does not show any data.
Now, the same report "reportA" when i open it in Internet Explorer, it displays data. What can be reason for this problem in BEX analyzer ?
Please comment.

Edited by: Suraj S Nairon Dec 28, 2009 10:50 AMHi Suraj,
If you want to execue your query, you can use the bex analyzer.
If you are opening the query from query designer 3.x query in 7.0 fronend, it will get upgraded and then cannot be reveted.
In your case this automatic migration might be havng some issues, owing to complexities.
Please recheck.

Error Message while opening workbook or Query in BEx Analyzer
Hi all,
Whenever I try to open any workbook or query using Bex Analyzer I get an error message saying "Serious error occured while reading history folder" Message class RSOBJS, number 170. But this doesnt stop me from opening the workbook or the query.
Kindly help me to suppress or eliminate this message. I am not able to find this message in the list of messages available in RSRT either.
Thanks and Regards
Mui KanvaHi Mui Kanva,
Does your problem occur in a copied system?
I have same problem in our Quality-BW (copied from productive system). WE are in our QBW not able to activate personalization correct and get the same error messages. I suggest the reason in the fact, that the source-system Myself (QBW) does not work correct. This reason causes that export data sources could not be activated via RFC-Connection.
Please check to activate your source system?
We accept the error messages in our QBW and did not activate the RFC connection.

Query executes in RSRT but not in BEx Analyzer
Hi Everyone,
I have a query for an infocube and ods object, in the bex analyzer for the infocube the query executes which has around 5000 records but for the ods object which has also 5000 records comes up with this error.
<b>An exception with the type CX_SY_EXPORT_NO_SHARED_MEMORY occurred, but was
neither handled locally, nor declared in a RAISING
Message no. RS_EXCEPTION000</b>
when I execute the query in RSRT it comes up.
After closing and re logging into bex analyzer executes the query for the first but for the second time again it throws up this error.
What could be the problem? Can anyone please let me know. Its really really urgent.
Thanks,
Prashant.hi Prashant,
try check in RSRT, after choose your query, click 'properties' and set cache mode to 'main memory cache without swapping'.
also check oss note 656060-OLAP: Cache main memory displacement not functioning.
hope this helps.
Symptom
Although one of the following two cache modes
Main Memory Cache Without Swapping (mode 1)
Main Memory Cache With Swapping (mode 2)
is set for a query, long runtimes occur when you execute the query. The statistics (table RSDDSTAT) display the database times.
If there is a heavy system load, the following message can also appear: RS_EXCEPTION000: No left space in shared memory.
Other terms
Cache, performance, displacement, shared buffer
Reason and Prerequisites
This problem occurs because the shared memory is insufficiently dimensioned.
<b>Solution</b>
Increase the amount of shared memory. The size of the shared memory should be at least 200 MB. You can refer to transaction RSRCACHE for the amount of memory reserved by the main memory cache (RSRCACHE -> Main Memory: Shared Memory/Buffer Reserved).
The corresponding settings are (at least):
rsdb/esm/buffersize_kb = 200000
and, as a precaution, also
rsdb/esm/max_objects = 10000.
Alternatively, for queries with large resulting quantities, you can convert the Cache Mode in transaction RSRT1 to
Cluster/Flat File Cache for Each Application Server (mode 3)
Cluster/Flat File Cache Across Each Application Server (mode 4)
