Ios 5 iphone 4 full of 'other??' in iTunes

When I try to sync my iphone 4 with iTunes 10.5, it tells me it has 24GB of 'other' and won't put any music on there. What on earth is 'other' and how do I get rid of it? Do I need to do a factory restore? I'd really rather not. This hasn't been the smoothest upgrade ever.

Does your camera roll album open? I'd be careful because right now i have the same issue and the other i think is my photos... errrr. Im still attempting to fix

I bought an albun on my iphone 3G ( 16 g ) when I sync to my computer (windiows xp) it sent me a messages your iphone is full there is no enoght space I check on and it reads ( other 8G) I dont know what is it cuz it erased all my songs and the only left is the albun I just bought.

This may not be your case, but that's why mine has all that extra space labeled as "Other".

Daughters Iphone 4s will not restore from a backup or allow her to save anything due to it being full. She has about 100 pics, less than 1G of music and a few MB's of Apps. But when you hook it to Itunes, it shows all that, and a big majority of her drive is taken up by "Other". Our other 4 phones don't have this. What is "Other" and how do I delete it/get rid of whatever it is so we can use the HDD space? It is a 16GB Iphone 4s. Thanx for any suggestions.

Iphone storage full with other

I have an iPhone 5 and my storage is full with other. I don't have many apps on my phone but still it's full.
What can I do?
I already emptied my phone & put the back up on my phone, but now it's fuller than it was.

Sometimes this is caused by a corrupted iTunes metadata file and gets fixed by downloading a new song. More likely, you'll have to restore.

Did you try another USB cable?
If this does not help, and there's no hub between your device and the USB port of the MacBookAir, you should visit your next Apple Store and let them have a look at both devices.

If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. If you completely confident that you purchases with same apple id then you have hidden it. One of the other or you are speaking about a miracle. While miracles are possible they are not very likely. Remember

Restore the phone through iTunes and setup as new. Make sure you have everything you need off the phone first because this process will wipe it.
This will free up all available space and you can then start again.

I use an app called FileApp to transfer photos to my PC - I can then selectively delete photos from my iPhone and still have them on my PC - just download the app to your iPhone and follow the instructions for the accompanying program for your PC - then use your iPhone cable to connect - iTunes will also start up so just close it and you will see the iPhone storage as a drive - go the DCIM folder and open the device folder and you will see your photos.

Thanks for the reply - I think I've sorted it though and there isn't actually an issue.
The whole group wasn't receiving the NDR, only the group manager which I setup a few weeks prior. This is a new feature so it complies with certain RFC's, basically the group manager will recieive the NDR to let them know there is a problem.
Something to do with mass mailing and unsolicited mail.

I read on another discussion that sucking air out of the headphone slot works, I tried it and guess what, it worked.......weired....apparently something to do with moisture accumulation....!!!!!!
