IOS 7, photos which were cropped do not exactly fit window anymore

One thing i instantly noticed after upgrading to iOS 7 is that photos I cropped either outside the ipad or with photo editing apps like iphoto or snapseed on the ipad, sometime do not fit the window in the Standard Photo Viewer anymore. (I use ipad 4 with Retina, wifi, 128 GB)
This is always the case especially for vertical photos, not horizontal ones. This was definitely not the case in 6.1.3. For example, when viewing a photo, it fits on the left and right side, but on the top & bottom it is slightly cropped (approx. 1cm).
That 1 cm on the top is not really cropped, only visually, it is outside the frame. It is not possible to adjust the photo with the finger, it either goes back to the cropped position or it minimizes.
This is a bit annoying as especially for faces/heads on top of the photo it is negatively influencing when presenting photos to people as it doen't show the intended size of the photo. Does anyone have similar issues or maybe a way of how to fix it? Thanks

This is terrible. I crop my pics 3:2 just the way they are supposed to be and now iOS7+ thinks it knows better and violently zooms in my pic filling the whole 16:9 iPhone 5S/6 screen chopping heads, feet etc. off.
iOS does not seem to mind that the original 4:3 iPhone shot does not fit the whole screen but iOS gladly shows the whole pic with black on the top and on the bottom areas of screen. Only if you dare to crop the pic to e.g. a dSLR image ratio 3:2 iOS decides you actully want to fill the screen with the pic.
How can we get anyone from Apple to comment on this stupid issue? I have given feedback a few times on this issue but of course no comment anywhere.

how do i delete photos which were being imported and are now stored in a folder which i can't access

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

Yes i had not taken back up before restoring it. However i was just going through some links on the net and there is a software available for MAC to retrieve such lost data. But the point is will the said software work on iphone as the OS is not MAC..
Will have to give a try to this. If successful will share it with all. Anyone else has any idea about this please so share.

What won't open? Photoshop, or the photos that you "stored in iPhoto"?

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music'  then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

  • Is there a way to retrieve photos which were accidentally erased?  I can still see all of the images in my library but can not open them?  Thanks

Is it possible to retrieve photo images which were deleted by mistake.  I continue to see all of the images in my library but am unable to open them  Thanks

Are you asking about iPhoto on your Mac? This is the iPhoto on IOS devics forum.
What is your iPhoto version? And what happened to delete your photos?
Do you mean, you see the images in your iPhoto library, when you are browsing them, but you cannot edit them?
Then probably the original master image files are no longer there, but the previews are. If you are using iPhoto '11 you can see the Previews inside the iPhoto Library in the folder "Previews", when you ctrl-click the iPhoto Library and select "Show Package Contents".

  • Synced photos resulted in showing photos which were not viewed by my phone

I recently synced my iphone to my laptop and did iphone data recovery, many of the pictures which were on my phone were restored but my problem is that I also had unknown pictures which were never saved or even viewed by my phone show on the data recovery page?! How can this be possible? I sometimes use a second apple ID on iTunes on the same laptop. Could that be a reason? Or could it be a recovery error? Otherwise how could I possibly get those pictures on my phone?

The issue for me here was that I didn't want to sync the music. I only wanted to sync the photos and was worried that if I enabled sync that would happen. However, when I enabled sync I was able to only sync photos and turn syncing off for all other media types. Thank you for your help!

  • Skype does NOT start with Windows Anymore (start S...

My Skype NO LONGER starts with Windows anymore!!! I HAVE to manually open Skype!!! I cheked the options and "start Skype with Windows" IS checked!!! I tried unchecking the option and rechecking it, made no difference!!! how do I fix??

Just because Skype isn't starting up automatically doesn't mean it isn't trying.  Other applications you have loading at startup could be slowing down Skype's ability to start.  You can run msconfig ( Start - Run  (Wink key + R) -  "msconfig".  Under the startup tab you can see if Skype is set to start or not.  You can also uncheck everything else but Skype and see if it comes up them.  If it does, using a process of elimination you should be able to determine the application causing the probelm.  If you do not see anything for Skype you can use the registry files provided to toggle that feature on/off just as the Skype program attempts to.

  • Do camera roll photos which were NOT synced to PC/iCloud still exist in my iPad after restoring the iPad with iTunes? Please Help!

There exist softwares such as iExplorer that claim to be able to view files in the iPad which might not be visible through iPad/ iTunes. Has this woked for anyone?

Thanks ...This should save me further fruitless hours on the internet attempting to find some sort of a solution.

  • Easiest way to delete Camera Roll photos which were imported by iPhoto through Photostream?

So I have a bunch of photos on my iOS device that were properly uploaded to my Photostream.  Then, iPhoto dutifully imported them on my MacBook Pro and place them in my iPhoto library.  So now I have a bunch of photos on my iOS device that iPhoto reads as "Already Imported".  If I try to import them, I get the usual warning about a Duplicate Photo.  I don't want to import duplicate photos and choosing not to import them leaves them on my iOS device.
So is there a more elegant way of getting them off my iOS device instead of manually deleting them?
This is an ok idea until I have over 100 photos and the deletion process becomes a tedious tapping afair.
    Thanks!

    No.

  • I am trying to attach photos in an e-mail (Gmail), however I can't access yesterday's or todays photos which were downloaded from the iphone to iphoto, and added to a new album. I can access all photos from all days previous to yesterday. Why? I

I am not able to access today's or yesterday's photos in the Attachment box when trying to e-mail photos using Gmail. I am using a new Mac Book Pro, photos from my iPhone, and download to iPhoto. All photos previous to yesterday are accessible. This is a recurring issue. Any help here?

The photos is question don't show up in the Last Import smart album?
In the Event mode set View ➙ Sort Events ➙ By Date ➙ Descending.  That way the newest Events will be at the top of the window.  Do you see the photos in the last couple of events?
If no to all of the above try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • IPhoto library inflates from photos which were rotated in the camera!!!

    Hi,
that is awful! I wondered why my iPhoto library is so big. I use the library only for slideshows and creating albums, *NOT for editing*.
    I found it out!!!
I have tested it with a folder of 100 photos (approx. 1.5 MB each). One version of the folder (NORM) contains 100 horizontal photos. An Other version of the folder (ROTA) contains the same 100 photos with the EXIF-Flag "Rotate 90 CW" (my camera sets this flag automaticaly). The size of the 2 folders are exactly the same:
    <NORM>: 150.871.544 Bytes
    <ROTA>: 150.871.544 Bytes
Before I import one of these folders, I create an empty iPhoto library, size: 14.556.512 Bytes
    And now the results:
    - If I import <NORM>, then the size of library grows up from 14 MB to 24 MB, reason: iPhoto generates thumbnails of every photo. That's OK.
    - If I import <ROTA>, then the size of library grows up from 14 MB to *255 MB*!! What the heck!!! iPhoto generates thumbnails AND A VERSION OF EACH PHOTO IN FOLDER MODIFIED!!! The size of every modified photo is bigger then 2 MB now (original 1.5 MB)!! Why?? The photo is NOT modified!!!
    Can you enlighten me?

Not searched the forum then? This "discovery" turns up every couple of weeks. And the answer has been the same since iPhoto 1.
Your camera has an Auto-Rotate feature. However, the camera does not actually rotate any pixels in the file, but instead flags it with an instruction: "Display me this way".
Photo, seeing the flag, reads the intention and creates a modified version. Without this version, apps that integrate with iphoto, (like Word Processors, Mail Clients and Web Browsers) would end up with sideways photos. Why? Because they don't understand EXIF tags.
If you then try to Revert to Original, iPhoto will remove the edited version. However, when it then looks at the Original file again, it sees the flag, and creates a new rotated version. This loop will run as long as you Revert to the Original.
The solution is to either a: turn off the Auto-Rotate feature on your camera or b: rotate the photos prior to importing them to iPhoto.

    TD

  • Recovery of original photos which were moved from a library on a another computer?

    Hi,
I had a Mac Mini and during that time I was keeping the iPhoto library on an External Hard Drive. I no longer have that computer and now have a mac book pro and when I tried to access the photos from the external HD they were really small and when I tried to enlarge them they were pixelated.

    Please Help!

I must have done something by accident while looking at some recent photos, because the photo no longer fills up the entire photo window.
There is some white space on the top and on the bottom of the window. I have iPhoto 4 that came with my Mac OSX Jaguar edition. Can anyone tell me what I did and how to undo it? Thank you!!!!

Sorry about my panic attack. I quit iPhoto, and when I went back to it, the window was filled up again. Thanks anyway.
