IOS 8.1 How to batch delete unfavorable photos?

since iOS 8, we lost the iPhoto app and the ability to batch manage photos. As sad as that is, now I'm ready to move on.
With the new photo app, i see that we can mark a photo as favorite but I cannot see which photo is favorite on the grid view so I cannot select multiple non-favorites to delete them. To organize my photos, I have to open each and every photo (one by one) to see if any photo needs deletion. Imagine doing one by one deletion for 5000 shots.
Can anyone tell me if there is a better way to manage the photos in the photo app?
P.s. Ideally the app should have a sorting function that group all the non-favorites then allow deletion.

Right now, there is no way to batch identify the non-favourites, afaik.  Please send feedback to Apple about a usability issue and a feature request. Either use this link:  Apple - iPhoto - Feedback
or http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
Right now, I try to avoid having non-favourites on my iDevices, by deleting immediately. I try to get rid of them, as soon as I have taken a photo and delete mediocre photos before I even close the Camera.app. When I browse the photos to mark favourites, I delete immediately any photo that is not worth a favorite mark.
You might try to delete non-favorites on the https://www.icloud.com/#photos  page in iCloud.  If you (temporarily) enable iCloud Photo Library Beta on your iPad, all photos will upload to iCloud and you can manage the photos on your iPad  from the Photos Beta app in the web interface. It is a bit easier to weed out non-favorites, because the overview page and the slideshow will show the "Favourites" heart as a batch overlay, so you know, which photos you need to delete. Any photo you delete on the iCloud page will be removed from your iPad as well as long as you keep iCloud Photo Library Beta enabled. This will disable however the "My Photo Stream" from a Mac and iTunes Photo Sync, so to upload photos use Mail, shared Photo Streams,  or the upload button at  https://beta.icloud.com  .
For example: the "Moments" on the iCloud page are showing like this, with the "favourites" heart in the upper left corner. Clicking a photo will enlarge them, so you can step them and the favourites heart will show in the title.

  • How do I delete a photo album that was synced to my iPad?

Hello, normally I have the "Sync Photos from [drop down list]" option UNCHECKED. I checked it and selected a folder of 30 pictures that I wanted to add to my iPad.
Now, I've decided I don't want them. They cannot be simply deleted from the iPad. When I go to iTunes on my Macbook, I unchecked the Sync Photos from option, applied it, then synced my iPad. The option is unchecked but the pictures are still on my iPad and I'm still unable to delete them.

  • How can I delete a photo album, I click on edit but do not get a delete option

    Hello
I am having great trouble in deleting a folder from my photo album, I click on edit but do not get an option to delete the content, it just opens up showing all content. My friends Ipad gives him the option to delete a folder, have I a problem with the device?
I note also that after adding a folder successfully, adding another folder overlays the former and changes the  title or adds only some photos causing a mixture of both folders with the same title. Has anyone any advice how to overcome these problems?
I would appreciate any help you may be able to offer.
    Thanks for reading this

  • How can I delete a photo folder from my iphone 4s?

how can I delete a photo folder from my iphone 4s?

    Hey Ravengirlaa,
Great question! The answer is going to depend on how the photos were originally organized:
    A) The albums were synced to your iPhone from iTunes
    B) The albums were manually created on your iPhone from photos in the Camera Roll
The following excerpt would apply for situation B:
excerpt from page 71 of the iPhone User Guide - http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
If the photos were synced from your computer, please refer to this article (section "To delete photos and videos from your device"):

  • How can I delete a photo album from my IPad?

How can I delete a photo album from my I Pad?

You can turn off photo stream via Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream 'off' , I don't think that it is possible to remove individual photo stream photos. From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486 :
Individual photos cannot be deleted from your Photo Stream. You can, however, delete all the photos in your Photo Stream by clicking the Reset Photo Stream button in your account at icloud.com. The Reset Photo Stream button will instantly delete all Photo Stream photos stored in iCloud, but it will not remove any Photo Stream photos that have already been pushed to your devices.
After deleting the photos from your Photo Stream in iCloud, you can remove the Photo Stream photos from your devices as follows:
On your iOS devices, go to Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream and turn Photo Stream off. This will delete all the photos from your Photo Stream album. If there are any photos you want to keep on your device, make sure to add them to an album or save them to your Camera Roll first.

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad
