IOS 8 "Notes" is broken

Question

I Knew that updating the Operating System would inevitably mean that some app's might not initially work, but I did expect that those which were integral to the OS would, ....it appears not!
This seems to me to smack of an Operating System which has been rushed to market without the appropriate level of  testing to ensure that it is marketable!
Another annoyance with IOS 8 which I've just noticed:-
I Am also finding these unwanted capitals (as at the start of this sentence). They only seem to occur at the beginning of a line.
if I force a "return" as I have here, then no automatic capital is created. It seems that the unwanted capitals are the product of my forced "return" combined with the need to manually press "shift"; surely this is not correct? Maybe it is just a peculiarity of this forum...perhaps we can expect Apple to clarify.

first of all I must explain that I have decided not to use the shift key at all whilst posting this response.
hopefully this will demonstrate the odd behaviour I'm finding when using the forum.
this was not the case prior to me upgrading my 4th generation retina iPad from "7" to "8".
you will notice that sentences and indeed paragraphs now (generally) commence with a lower case letter.....except for the "p" in ipad which apple's software occasionally deigns to correct.....whoopy doo.
now to the problem which brought me here.
i Rely heavily on "notes" and I'm considerably put out by the fact that it is now all but unuseable.
it did survive the transition to "8" ....apparently intact, but now behaves in a very odd fashion.
opening any of my jottings, they are fine....until I have the temerity to attempt an edit.
during this process, i'm suddenly aware of the existence of another item in the left hand pane with exactly the same title (generally being part of the first line).
no biggie you might say, just delete the unwanted copy.
"thereby hangs the tail" as they used to say....I' ve no idea who "they" were, but they did seem to say many things.
upon opening the errant copy, I'm perplexed to find that it is not the same document at all but a completely different one of my precious notes that now bears the same title as the one I've just edited.
simples I hear you say, just edit the title by cutting the first line of the document and pasting it back in....this should then form the correct title once more and all will be well.
wrong, wrong, wrong...this invokes yet another apparent duplicate.....which is in fact yet another random one of my notes which has been vandalised by Apple.
(Note that 'autocorrect' has the presence of mind to capitalise the fruit...and even the first letter of this line..wow)
i am now totally unable to use "notes" for fear of damaging yet more of my work.
i Am having to (there it goes again with the random capitals)
i am having to use an office application to jot down my notes until Apple (fruit auto capitalised again) deign to repair what is an integral part of their operation system.....not happy.
