IOS Google Maps

Hi all.
I developed an application using google maps. Doing the test on the simulator IOS everything worked. But installing the application on your apple device maps are not loading. I tried to update and flash builder and air at 3.7 to 4.7 but still does not work.
You have no idea how to get around this?

Are you using the Google Maps Flash API? If you are using it it will not work on iOS because Apple does not allow to load swf files after and App is initialised and the API makes use of this handling.
You can work with the StageWebView or take a look at the eskimo lib developed by people-in-action. They have a GMap component which uses the StageWebView to communicate with a google maps html site via actionscript - javascript communication (https://github.com/People-in-action/eskimo).

How can I install Google Maps on IOS 6?

Since I upgraded to IOS 6, Google Maps has been replaced by a poorer Apple version that doesn't support public transport. I want Google maps back. How can I install Google Maps on IOS 6 or downgrade to IOS 5?

Google Maps has not yet or does not look like they are creating a standalone app at this time.
It is not easy to downgrade, not recommended by Apple, very involved in order to do that. Again, not recommended.
Use MapQuest for now if you are unhappy with Apple Maps. I was never happy with Google Maps, so I have been using MapQuest for a long time for all directions.

After doing the iOS 6 upgrade my iPhone has wifi connectivity problems, drops calls which it never did before doing the ios6 upgrade ,can't connect to safari most of the time, lost google maps, lost the YouTube app icon,

Can I reinstall the previous iOS , my iphone is now a POS because of the new IOS . My iPad no longer has the YouTube app?? And what happened to google maps? Galaxy 3 for me and a google tablet seems like a better option. Nice job apple!!!

Hi,
Does any know is google map api support in cs5 flash? I want to make a google map with location marking using cs5 flash for iphone. But by checking the forum here, it seems like no clear answer about how to do it and example of success. Only got yahoo map success story. Appreciate if any one could give me some hints on how to do it with google map api. Thank you in advance.

No. it is not possible to implement the Google maps flash library.
Why? because the library tries to download an swf in to your program andit is not allowed to run an swf on a iOS device.
It's a shame we can't precompile the downloaded libary into our applications. I tried doing this but it failed several times.
After that i started using yahoo maps which does work because this one doesn't download an external swf files.

Problem :
The Map Kit framework will render Apple maps in IOS 6.0. It is not possible to force the MapKit to render Google Maps in IOS 6.0. But customer is not interested to use Apple maps because most information are not correct.
Proposed Solution
It is possible to add Google Map (or any other map tile) layers on top of the Apple MapKit framework. The basic idea is to add a custom tile overlay to the existing map, so all your annotations etc will be on top Google Map layer.
If the titles of the Apple MapKit framework will be removed before adding the Google Map layers. It will show only the Google Map in the Apple Map Kit framework.

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: The Maps application on iOS5 is, as I understand it, a custom front end for Google Maps that was created by Apple. It should continue to function indefinitely, so long as something does not change on the Google side that would prevent it from accessing their servers. Although I qualified the answer, it doesn't seem likely that Google would do such a thing.

You can still use Google’s maps — on the Web. Visit maps.google.com and accept the offer to create a Home-screen icon for you. You won’t get spoken directions, but you’ll get written directions, public transportation details, live traffic reports and, of course, Google’s far superior maps and data. (In two weeks, you’ll be able to get Street View this way, too, says Google.) And you can install the Google Plus Local app for full access to Google’s more complete database of shops and businesses.
You can also use someone else’s app. Many good ones cost money, but the MapQuest and Waze apps are free and offer spoken directions; Waze also incorporates real-time information about traffic jams, accidents and speed traps, collected by thousands of iPhones and Android phones on the roads.
If you can wait a couple of months, you’ll be able to install Google’s own maps app; Google is busily readying one for the iPhone and iPad.

I disagree, Mr. WJ:
If Matt had updated his iPhone via the Cloud and not by USB cable to his computer, the old IOS would still be on the computer and he would be able to "restore" to it. It would depend on what his backup settings were configured.
For instance, I always backup to my computer at home. But, in the last few days I was notified that IOS 6.1 came out. So, if I wanted, I could install the update via WIFI from where I am at work. But, my old IOS would still be safe on my home computer that I can restore from if need be.
And then you basically repeated what I stated about Google Maps being a app you can download now.
Who loves ya, baby?

Well, this took me a while to get solved, but it is indeed solved.
I tried USB Overdrive and it could, and perhaps should work, but apparently it will not. When adding a device, it seems that USB Overdrive is not set up to handle any input device that does not register itself as either a Mouse or a Joystick. The VEC USB Footpedal that I'm using is "Device type: Other".
So, I went for Quickeys. And Quickeys can do it all. It did recognize the device, I was able to assign it to the scope of the particular audio playback app I wanted to use (Amazing Slow Downer OS X - which is truly amazing. Any musicians reading this who are looking for a way to learn pieces by ear, this does it better than anything else I've seen yet).
I created a shortcut in Quickeys for the ASD app; added the middle button of the foot pedal as the trigger; set one step, entering 'space bar' as the step (which toggles playback, similar to many audio players).
It all worked.
Quickeys is very confusing and seemingly featured with an endless array of options. Enter at your own risk. Ask me for help. This was the only way to get it done that I could find. I did write to the author of USB Overdrive asking him to please support additional devices as I did find some traction from gamers who like to use a foot pedal in addition to other input devices. There was a Windows-only management utility for the foot pedal that was intended for custom input, assigning the buttons to any keyboard input or mouse click event. It would be nice to have a simple and easy to use utility like this. But, Quickeys did do the job.
