IOS7 help - usage issue!

I have a problem. Ever since I updated to iOS7, 'MESSAGES' is now on usage. Where did that come from!? I think this is taking up the most space! But after I saw this, I deleted ALL OF MY MESSAGES and I go back to usage again, and it STILL says 7.9GB. WHAT IS GOING ON???

Hello! I spoke to a guy working at Apple today for hours and he didn't really know what was causing this issue. He made me delete my messages several times (with airplane mode too) and made me reset my phone, but the messages somehow still came back! Even after I deleted my messages and backed up and then restored my phone again, the messages still somehow came back again! So finally, he told me that he thinks it might be a hardware/software issue or something? I forgot what he said, sorry . He said that restoring backup is not doing anything either and that there's probably a problem with that too. So he made me restore my whole iphone and set it up as a new phone which I just did right now and the message issue has gone. I'm going to have to re-install my apps though but that doesn't bother me. Atleast this weird issue has gone now and hopefully it doesn't come back! Good luck!

Help on issue "SGD/USD - rate does not exist in scenario for"

Hi Experts,

When trying to generate market data, the program is giving me error message number T0478 - "SGD / USD - rate does not exist in scenario for".

I also checked this setting and the exch. rate for SGD/USD has already been set previous to my error. Also, this configuration allows the exch. rate to be valid from a certain date so I don't think that this is what Ravi is referring to..
From what Ravi said, I need to set an exchange rate for the Evaluation Type that I am using. OB08 doesn't determine which evaluation type is being used.

Help with issues with cell phone when on Wifi in iOS7

Since I updated to iOS7 on my iPhone 5 (bought in Jan 2013), I'm frequently experiencing dropped calls. I have great wifi signal stregth and this is happening in multiple wifi networks so it's not the network itself. Also, those on the other end complain that my voice breaks up and they can't hear all that I'm saying.
If I switch over to the cellular network, I get much better quality, even if there are few 'bars/dots' of signal strenght in 3G. When I used the same phone on iOS6 on many of the same wifi networks, I didn't encounter these issues.
Has anyone else experienced similar performance issues? Anyone have any suggestions/ideas on how to troubleshoot and/or resolve?

Thanks. I learned something new. I didn't realize the cell calls weren't able to use Wifi unless through an app (e.g. Skype, etc.). So, I guess what's happening is that if I have Wifi enabled and make a cell call, it (somehow) affects the call quality. I can be in the same position in the house/building and my audio will break up for the folks on the other end of the call. If I turn Wifi off, it improves immediately and the problem goes away.
So maybe there's something up with both of thos things going at the same time. Now that I know, I can likely work around the problem. Thank you for educating me.

I am having a data excess usage issue with my Jetpack although I did not use the VZW network at all.

Background: My home does not have access to landline internet and I am relying on a Verizon Jetpack device rather than satellite cable for internet access. Within my JetPack wireless network I have several devices connected, iPADs, PC’s, printer, etc. (up to 5 devices can be connected with my system). Recently, I had one device within my immediate wireless network that I needed to transfer data via FTP to another local device within my immediate network. The receiving device FTP’d data from device (198.168.1.42) to local IP (address 192.168.1.2). To understand the data path a Trace rout for this transfer is 198.168.1.42 (source) to 198.168.1.1 (Jetpack) to 192.168.1.2 (receiver). Note that the VZW network ((cloud)/4G network) was NOT used in this transfer nor was any VZW bandwidth used for this transfer (of course less the typical overhead status/maintenance communications that happen regardless). Use of the VZW bandwidth would be something like downloading a movie from Netflix, (transferring data from a remote site, through the VZW network, into the Jetpack and to the target device). I also understand if ones devices have auto SW updates that would also go against the usage as well. I get that. My understanding of my usage billing is based data transfer across the VZW network.
Now to the problem: To my surprise I was quite substantially charged for the “internal” direct transfer of this data although I didn’t use the VZW network at all. This does not seem to be right, and doesn’t make much sense to me. Usage is should be based on the VZW network not a local Wi-Fi. In this case, Verizon actually gets free money from me without any use of or impact to the VZW network. Basically this is a VERY expensive rental for the jetpack device, which I bought anyway. Considering this, I am also charged each time I print locally. Dive into this further, I am also interested in knowing what is the overhead (non-data) communications between the jetpack router and devices and how much does that add up to over time?
Once I realized I was getting socked in bandwidth, as a temp solution I found an old Wi-Fi router, created a separate Wi-Fi network off the Jetpack, but the billing damage was already done. Switching each device back and forth to FTP and print is a hassle and there should be no reason the existing hardware couldn’t handle this and charges aligned with VSW usage. Is purposely intended by Verizon? Is this charging correct? And can I get some help with this?
Logically, usage should be based on VZW network usage not internal transfers. All transfers between IP addresses 192.168 are by default internal. Any data that needs to leave the internal network are translated in to the dynamic IP addresses established by the VZW network. That should be very easily detected for usage. In the very least, this fact needs to be clearly identified and clarified to users of the Jetpack. How would one use a local network and not get socked with usage charges? Can one set up a Wi-Fi network with another router, hardwire directly from the router to the Jetpack so that only data to and from the VZW network is billed? I might be able to figure out how to have the jetpack powered on but disable the VZW connection, but I don’t want to experiment and find out that the internal transfers are being logged and the log sent after the fact anyway once I connect…. A reasonable solution should be that users be able to use the router functions of the Jetpack (since one has to buy the device anyway) and only be billed for VZW usage.

i do not have a backup of it, so i am thinking about replacing my old hard drive from the water damaged into this one, not even sure if that would work, but it did not seem to be damaged, as i recovered all the files i wanted off of it to put onto this mbp
the previous owner didnt have it set to boot, they had all their settings left on it and tried to edit all the names on it, had a bunch of server info and printers etc crap on it. i do not believe he edited the terminal system though--he doesnt seem to terribly bright(if thats possible)

Please help - performance issues with Lr 2.3

I really hope some user/s or Adobe support members could help me with tweaks/suggestions to improve Lightroom 2.3's sluggish performance on my computer.
First of all I have read about 100 different forum topics this morning, have used the forum search extensively and I cannot find any one topic which talks about different methods for improving performance. So I really have tried to find the answer before asking for help and I have done a lot of googling to try and find some simple answers but after all this reading I am more confused than when I started out.
Let me first explain what I am experiencing and I will try and be as detailed as possible.
1 - When I browse the library it is incredibly slow rendering the thumbnail previews. I found a topic which talked about degfragging the LR catalog using sqlite and contig, I did that and it made no difference to performance.
2 - I left my machine running an entire day to render the 1:1 previews thinking this would help me with the slow thumbnail issues but it made no difference. It is however faster now when I double click and image and get the immediate 1:1 preview :)
3 - I have turned off the Automatically write changes into XMP, suggested on another topic, that made no noticeable differences to performance either.
4 - A few months ago when I was still running 2.1 I found a topic either here or on Google that told me to delete the entire previews folders and let LR recreate them from scratch, I did that back then and that did not make any difference either, turned out to be 24 hours of waste time for me.
5 - I tried changing the following settings under catalog settings (has not improved anything):
size: 2048 Pixels
quality: High
automatically discard 1:1 previews: Never
6 - The only slow performance I am experiencing in LR is the thumbnails and this slows down my workflow dramatically. Everything else in LR seems to be quite fluid and usable and fast. I notice many users have complained about the slow thumbnails issues and I was praying that 2.3 was going to sort this out.
7 - I have also noticed that when scrolling up and down the thumnail list it sometimes uses more than 1 processing core and then sometimes not and then when I stop scrolling up and down the thumbnails and leave it alone for 5 seconds suddenly all 8 processing cores spike to around 50% usage with processing "something".
8 - I have tried making my thumbnail previews different sizes, also makes no difference really, unless I go to the smallest size and then it seems ok but then it's hard to see what's going on at all with thumbnails that small.
9 - Lightroom is only using up 1.1 GB of available memory so I do no think the slowness relates to memory and I am running my memory in a proper DDR3 configuration.
10 - I have tried playing with my graphics card settings (below) but it does not seem to help no matter what I try.
11 - Overall it "seems" that Lightroom is trying to re-render thumbnails continously, I know technically this may not be true but as an end user this is how it feels to me.
My computer specifications are as follows:

The way I have LR configured on my PC is as follows:
- Program files installed on main C drive which is a 250GB partition on a 1TB Seagate Sata 2 drive with 190 GB Free space all the time.
- Lightroom catalog is on my E drive which is a 1TB Seagate Sata 2 drive
- Camera Raw Cache is set at 10GB and resides on the same E drive as the LR catalog
- My E drive has 100GB Free Space
- I have tried tweaks to the video card settings to be Lightroom spe

Thanks for the reply, I have tried changing any/all settings on the card set to performance versus quality and still it has no effect. I just got the latest video driver for the GT9800 which was released on the 3rd of March and that has no effect either. I tried loading the 32 bit version of Lightroom without any improvement to speed on the thumbnails whatsoever so that rules out the possibility of it being something to do with 64-bit.
I read an Adobe knowledgebase article saying that the Nvidia control panel conflicts with certain Adobe software but they do not say how to turn it off and I also cannot even find the answer to that on Nvidia's forums either. So I still cannot say whether or not the Nvidia control panel is the problem because I cannot disable it.
I phoned a friend this morning who is running Lightroom 2.3 on a simple Core-2 Duo machine and his thumbnails render in half the time that mine do and my hardware is top of the range stuff in comparison so you can imagine my frustration with this thumbnailing issue. My friend also has an Nvidia card 8800GT I think.
I have spent so much time on this and I am no further to a solution and this blurry thumbnail issue is seriously messing with my eyes and it does not make for a very pleasant user experience.
What concerns me is that while Lightroom is idle and the machine is idle Lightroom is not doing anything in the background like rendering thumbnails. It only starts rendering them once I scroll down a page, no doubt by design but for more powerful machines there is a lot of processing ability going unused. The thumbnails on the filmstrip render a lot faster compared to grid view but their rendering state is also not retained and once I have scrolled past 100 images and then scroll back they are all blurry again and I have to wait for them re-render all over again. All this re-rendering of thumbs is a really big waste of time.
I also noticed something else interesting this morning, I opened task manager and left it open while I was scrolling thumbnails (continuous scrolling without waiting for them to render sharp) and only one core was being used to do this processing, I tested this multiple times and left it open while I scrolled through 5000+ images and only one core the whole time was being used. Only once I stopped scrolling and Lightroom began it's rendering of the thumbnails (about 10-15 seconds after stopping scrolling) did it only then start using multiple processors, I'm not sure if that has something to do with anything and memory wise I have 4.2 GB of available memory and Lightroom is only using about 425 Mb of memory.
I have changed the size of my thumbnails to below halfway on the slider and that made only a slight difference, although now they are so small on this 30" screen that I am now suffering even more eye strain as a result.
I am busy loading LR 1.x to confirm whether any of these behaviours existed back then and will report back.

Since ios7 Major Music Issues

I have an iPad 2 and ever since I updated to ios7 my iTunes library has been a mess it will not play, there are these red boxes with red circles on each song and every time I try to play a certain album, it deletes it from my library. I have lost over 500 songs already, I have tried to sync almost 10 times to my PC's iTune library and it will not reload the missing alblums. Please help......

Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
Working now !!!!!

Help regarding issue connecting to DB through shell script

I am not sure what is going wrong. I have tried and googled for the issue and it seems that the issue is coming because the osuser under which the job runs may not be setup to use "sqlplus -s /" ? Any help appreciated.

Iphone5 IOS7 update - calendar issues

Hi there,
I'm desperate for some advice. I have an iphone 5 and have just done the ios7 software upgrade. I have experienced the following issues:
1. I am unable to permanently add events to the calendar. Yes, the [+] button is displayed, but whenever I attempt to add a new event, the event disappears within seconds.
2. I am unable to receive calls. People I work with are now emailing me because they are unable to call me! Not great.
3. I am unable to send text messages. This is similar to the call issue, except mine won't go. Perhaps this is a network issue, rather than an apple problem.
My main concerns are the Calendar function, or lack of it, following the upgrade. I've spoken to my mobile phone provider, and they can't help.
I've already restored the factory settings and reinstalled the software. Is there any way I can go back to the previous software option? It wasn't perfect, but it worked!!!

Really bizzare root "/" space usage issue....

I'll start by apologizing in advance....
Now that I have done that I can hopefully proceed without ticking off anyone...
I have Arch 0.7 installed and Kde which I just downloaded and installed last night. Everything is running well, no issues there.
My issue is with the space taken up by root "/". During the partitioning process I had assigned it a generous ( I thought ) 1GB. /Var has 7Gb, /usr has 9Gb, the swap is 734MB and /home is 30Gb. So far so good.
For some strange reason when I run hwd -y the usage indicator for root "/" is 65% used. That strikes me as a hell of a lot of space for root to use, especially if just Arch and KDE are on the system, at least I would think so.
I have had a wonderful time looking through the wiki and googleing over this issue and learned a lot of new and interesting things, but not why this is happening. :x
du and df have helped a bit and /var/log has about 30 MB of log messages
so it is not there. /tmp has virtually no usage 1 MB total or so.
I have also done pacman -Scc as well, however I am still at 65% usage.
Now it is entirely possible that I don't fully understand WHAT this truly means, but I do know I don't want to fill up the root filesystem. Should I e ven be worried?
Any assistance, ideas, RTFM comments are welcome...

proc does not report space properly with du. As many of the things in proc are virtual...It is possible that hwd -y is improperly reporting it..dunno.
try "df -h" to get a better result.
EDIT: Good point dusty, might be /opt being a problem too.

Help! Issue with Adobe 8 and Microsoft 2007

I'm hoping someone can help me. I recently installed Adobe 8 on a laptop running Microsoft 2007. When an email arrives with a word attachment, I double click on the attachment, click open, the word program opens rigth up but the document never appears. There is no error message, just no document. Previewing the document also works.
Excel attachments work fine. This issue just started happening after Adobe was installed this afternoon. Before that, we had no issues.
Does anyone have any ideas???

Memory Usage Issue - T400

Hello,
I got my T400 in this morning and facing a small issue with the memory usage. I ordered the laptop with Windows Vista Biz. 64bit
The memory usage at the start up is above 1.3GB. Is that normal?
I am using a desktop PC where the memory usage did not hit 900MB (I am using Windows Vista Ult. 64bit).

I got a new t440p 20ANA00UHH (8GB RAM, win8 64bits) about one week ago. It works really well, but its memory usage confused me. In Task Manager, the "Performance" option shows memory is 68% (5.4G in use), but "Users" option shows memory usage 66% (1019.5M in use). Is that normal ? I just opened some websites and word files.

Is there a fix for the iPad2/iOS7 WiFi dropping issue yet?

After searching through Many threads regarding iPad2 Wi-Fi issues, I have found a lot of different "solutions" and I've tried them ALL but my Wi-Fi is STILL dropping out on me all the time. My iPad is running iOS version 7.1.2. I am constantly getting errors like
"We were unable to connect to the servers. Please try again later."
or
"Internet Connection Lost",
or i try to download an app and it just spins for a minute then acts as though nothing happened and the app never installs. I literally can't use any of my apps and the only way to reliably download them onto my iPad is to push it over from itunes with the ipad plugged in via usb after downloading it on my computer.
I have tried:
1-Checking connection settings (airplane mode Off, wifi connected to correct secure home network, bluetooth Off, mobile data Off)
2-rebooting ipad
3-making sure there's nothing running in the background by double-tapping the home button
4-removing an apostrophe from the ipad name.
5-putting the ipad into Airplane mode and then going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
6-going to Settings > Control Center and disable Access on Lock Screen then turning ipad off and on again.
7-updating router firmware
8-doing a factory reset, then repeating steps 1 through 6
Any other ideas?? I really need to make this work! Any help will greatly appreciated.

Do you mean a restore to factory settings?. If so did you set up as new or restore from back up afterwards?

Report Variable F4 help performance issue

I have a BI report on DSO >> Multiprovider.
When i choose F4 Variable help it takes around 2-3 minutes to display the data for selection.
Currently XXXX chars is with -- Only Posted Values for Navigation. I have tried the below options but could not see any improvement in variable f4 help performance.
-- Only Values in Infoprovider
-- Values In Master Data table
Could someone please suggest if you have faced the similar issue.

Hello Ashok,
Ideally you should never built a report based on a DSO, this is because it stores data at a line item level. The way the filter works is that looks at all records (SIDs) lying in the range of selection in the info provider and then displays the filter pane after it populates the records.
There can only be 1 check in this case, is to check if your DB statistics are up-to-date. The DB statistics decide if an index is to be used or not. So check for the DSO active table and all related SID tables in transaction DB20. Check the date of creation of the statistics, if it's too much in the past, then the DB does not effectively use the indices and hence it takes time.
You can use program RSANAORA to recompute the statistics.
