Ip issues, and apple.afl.plist worldofwarcraft

Hi Like many others I have been experiencing the self-assigned IP sickness.
It happens every-time I change location and struggle to connect to a router.
I have being deleting some plist files as recommended in some thread. I finally managed to connect again from home in doing so, but officially lost all my other network settings.
Any way, I wanted to see what was in the files I deleted.
All opened fine with Smultron, but com.apple.alf.plist
It says
There was a problem opening the document with the encoding "Unicode (UTF-8)". do you want to try to open it anyway?
So I clicked yes. I tried with text edit, and it seems to open fine.??
I can open it with textEdit
In this document freshly created by the OS, I got some lines with wordofwarcraft and skype stuff.
I uninstalled skype to see if it makes any differences, but got the same result from a fresh file.
Edit:
I tried to copy the content of the file here but with no success so I am going to try to write down few some of the names I can read in the middle of it all the blabla .
bunbleidXprocnamecom.skype.skypeUSkypeblabla_com.blizzar.launcherWorld of Warcraft
starcraft
somemore
com.blizzard.Starcraft
some more
_com.armygame.operations
some more
StarCraft Map Editor
etc ..
I have never played game on this computer, I have uninstalled skype and its playlist.
Am I under some sort of attack/virus , or are these just the normal OS system playing games by itself.
Many thanks in advance

One thing is sure, is that I haven't visited any web site for games since an erase to 0 + erase install from disc, a month ago. I have hardly been on skype but I just noticed there was an odd Tech name in my skype list that was waiting confirmation. This should have been a friend name?
I am not sure what happen. From a brand new hd, a first install went well, but I fu..d it up a month later by trying to activate php through terminal during the setting up phase. I was still in the testing field and didn't have a backup yet.
It took me then 4 installs, to get it running. After the first of this 4 installs "erase install" , some big VPC drives, resuscitated as my magic after installing VPC. So I believe that my 10.5.0 didn't erase at all. After fiddling around, I finally did a clone and erased the int. hd from the clone DU. and did an install again.
All very time consuming, and now this IP self-assigned bizz.
But I really don't know. I own this machine from new, any never played any game on it. Sad isn't it.

It is unlikely but you can atleast try they might set it up for free but expect an email about paying 269 for physical damage

Anyone know how to reset my iphone vm password (so I can listen to my messages) while in Canada and not turning on cellular so I don't get charged for roaming? Verizon says its an iphone issue and Apple says to contact my carrier?! I don't want to pay for roaming and I am able to use my phone fine and also connect to wifi while at friend's houses etc.

It's not a Verizon reset - under General and phone there is a place to reset my password however I can't do it without cellular turned on.

  • Ongoing WiFi issues and Apple Support's lack of support!

    Hi All,
I bought my MacBook Air in July/August 2012 (i7, 8GB RAM, 256 GB HDD, Mountain Lion). Since the first day, I have had issues with wifi connectivity. My primary use was at the university in Australia, where I had frequent drop outs and at times no connection at all. the university does not officially support Apple products and I was stuck with Apple support asking me to check with network administrators. I was also advised to re-install the OS, reset PRAM etc with no improvements. Then I had a 4 month stint as an exchange student in an Indian university. As i was not using my laptop at the university, I couldnt monitor the WiFi connectivity in these 4 months. Once back in Australia in January 2013, the issue surfaced again. Multiple conversations with Apple Support led me to another 4 re-installations and replacing my router with an uber expensive one. The reasons given by Apple were either the router's quality or interference from other networks. The new router supported 5Ghz band and had no intereference what so ever. I started to notice that the connectivity is far better with the wifi signal showing full range, but internet does not work. All is well if I am sitting right next to the router. The minute i move 5-8 metres away, Internet becomes super slow (from 12-14 Mbps to 1-2 Mbps on speedtest.net) and eventually does not load. At the same time, all other devices, including my iphone 5, ipad 2, ipad mini and other PCs in the apartment works perfectly fine.
On speaking to Apple Support, i was asked to conduct SNR checks and found out that the SNR readings fluctuate like ****. From 1-2 to 25-30. The Signal strength on my MacBook Air stays at -75dB to -65 dB. Armed with this info, the Airport card was replaced. But the issue still persists. The MacBook Air is presently at Apple waiting to get its display (antennas are embedded here) replaced. But I have lost total confidence in Apple. Is there anyone who had similar issues and found a stable solution? Other symptoms which may be connected are Mail becoming nonresposive intermitently, Power Nap function not working, battery life never more than 4 hours.
Apple Support has been appalling in a very courteous manner. Even though the commincation and care they took to talk to me, the issue hasnt been solved and its been 11 months!!
Any comments, advices and support will be appreciated.
    Thank You!

I am sorry, maybe my comment was vague. I am an engineer too albiet in the medical devices sector. Problem for me is that, I have been talking to Apple for about 11 months now. If you know where I live and how far the Apple Store is, you'd understand my frustration. I have been accomodating so far and do love the customer service experience I get from Apple. I am a proud owner of 2 iPads, an iPad mini, an iPod classic, an iPod Touch, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5 besides the MacBook Air. They are the most courteous and receptive Customer Service Reps out there. But all the courtesy does not hide the fact that my MBA is 11 months old and still having an issue starting 11 monthds ago. I had taken this machine to the stores numerous times. With the last week, i was getting to a point where I felt I have done enough to try everything except replacement of the machine to try fixing this issue. But now, Apple wont play ball. the rep said, i quote "your machine is almost a year old and you cant expect Apple to replace it". they have support call documents to prove that i have been talking to them about the issue since 11 months and to top it all, I have also purchased the $279 extended warranty. At the time of purchase the rep promised me that 'I would be send a box containing a loan machine while yours can be sent to us and fixed'. if you go through my posts here in mac forum, I had raised the issue here as well.
Now coming to the question, I have exhausted my options with Apple support and wanted to know if anyone else had the same issue and found a fix. With that maybe i can stop pulling my hair apart - realistically, stop myself from making another long trip to the Apple Store.

  • Why is it that Apple have no interest in helping I have a iPhone 4S and since updating to ISO 7.0.4 I have no wifi at all told me it's a hardware issue and I will be charged for the repair sick of it what a scam

Why is it that Apple have no interest in helping I have a iPhone 4S and since updating to ISO 7.0.4 I have no wifi at all told me it's a hardware issue and I will be charged for the repair as it's just over a yr old so I've got a 24 month contract so 12 months with a phone that is not working right I have read loads of other people that have the same problem so how can they put it down to the phone and when asked where to take it was told to google it not happy at all apple u need to sort it out never again am I buying anything for yourselfs again DISTGUSTED would be an understatement

No joy at all they just keep saying it's the phone but was fine before update and @metasolaray why should I pay for extra cover when the fault is not the phone but the update they have put out for everyone to install and I am far from being the only person as there is hundreds of people going through the same with this update and it's not been the first time they messed it up

Apple should take resonsibility for this, otherwise they will lose lots of loyal customers. I have moved away from the ipad due to expense and am now very tempted to do so away from the iphone. Selling a product that prompts an update that breaks the phone is not good.

Have had the same issues with iPhone 4S since the upgrade.  No wifi button, battery draining every 8 hours with no use, phone shutting on & off for no reason at all.  I gave in and tried the hair dryer method.  Turned the phone off and hel d the dryer over the camera lense area for one minute.  Turned the phone back on and to my shock, had wifi button back again.  That was 2 days ago.  Battery is lasting normal amount of time again and I can use wifi again!  Hopefully this will last.  I know it doesn't work for everyone but it doesn't hurt to try.  Much better than spending the $200 at the Apple store, which by the way, the genius said Apple is aware of the problems but there is nothing they can do.

Having the same issue: iOS 7.0.2 with no WiFi / poor Battery stamina and really slow software experience when opening several options at Settings icon.
Apple care agent contacted me and we try all alternatives to isolate and detect if this is regarding a hardware problem. Of course they told me it is. Too sad. My phone is in immaculate condition.
My mother has an Iphone, my father has an Iphone, my 2 sisters have Iphones, my brother, wife and daugther... we all have Iphones. Mine's the only one with this fault (my personal experience: fail prob is 12,5% -1 out of 8).
At this point, I'm evaluating to stop buying apple products for fear that in the future the same will happen with some "premium" product that ultimately they are not.
Too sad, sorry but this is too much.

I got my 4s in August 2012, as an upgrade on my Vodafone contract Following the installation of IOS 7 I also experienced greying out of wifi and bluetooth. I tried various options suggested on forums however none worked. I took my phone to Vodafone who told me it was a problem they were aware of but couldn't do anything about as Apple had to deal with it. I took it to my nearest Apple store (60 miles round trip!) to be told it was not their responsibility, it was Vodafone's - something to do with consumer law! They also said I would have to pay £160 for a replacement phone as it couldn't be repaired. The 'Genius' was very cagey about it being a common problem by the way!! Back to Vodafone who said it was not their responsibility so back to Apple. This time I spoke with a Manager who told me in not so many words that it was an issue and agreed to halve the replacement cost of £160 to £80. By this time I just wanted it sorted to reluctantly paid £80 for a replacment phone. Seeing as this is CLEARLY a design fault, Apple should have replaced it free of charge. This experience just confirms what I am reading in lots of places about the Apple Company. I was going to buy an iPad but have decided not to now. I shall NOT be replacing the iphone when my contract is up. I too will be writing to BBC Watchdog.

You will probably be told that the solution is a replacement phone. Ask to speak to a Manager and insist on getting it at a lower price. I did this and got it at 50% of the usual repacement cost. Still not ideal but at least it saves you a bit of the money you shouldn't have to pay in the first place!

I depend alot on my Iphone and this Wifi greyed out issue is really getting to me!! This caused me to lose some business, but I'm sure I will make up for that in Andriod World. Switching back to andriod should have never switched to apple in the first place.

4s owner in the same boat as everyone else.
I setup a service call with apple on Monday this week and was told it's quite a common hardware failure. When I asked why I should be paying for a new phone I was advised to book an appointment in store. Well I've just returned from my appointment with a "genius" who told me that when the update is installing if any component is weak when installing it will be permanently disabled.  Was then told £150 for a new phone which I declined.
I've had  iPhones for 4 years now but due to this issue and apple washing their hands of any responsibility it will be my last.
Disappointed that a premium product has such poor backup from the manufacturer. If it was only my phone and not thousands of others I'd have probably paid for a new phone but I'll never give apple another penny again.

Same problem with my partners iPhone 4s. Restored the device but still no luck. Going to book an appointment but it sounds like we wont have much luck as it is just over a year old.

  • I was sold a refurbished Iphone 4 with 8 days talk time on it without being told, and Apple said it doesn't approve of that, help! What should I do? It was purchased at Wireless Wave

I purchased a "new" iphone 4 after my first one was dropped in some water. I paid around $580. 4 days later, my wet iphone started working again, so I was pretty happy I could return the new one. When I went to the wireless wave location, they said there had to be less than thirty minutes talk time for it to be returned; no problem! Big problem! I had only owned the phone for 6 days, but there was 8 DAYS of TALK TIME on the phone in total! It wasn't even mathematically possible! The manager was more worried about whether or not I had actually used it for the 30 minutes. He couldn't have cared less that I had obviously paid full price for someone elses discarded cell phone without knowing it! I need some advice on how to handle this! I called an Apple location and they said they do NOT condone selling any refurbished Iphone products and were not aware of this. I sent an email to apple's legal email, but honestly I am just so frusturated. I tried contacting wireless wave, but obviously they don't want to talk to me. I was given no explanation at the time of return as to why there would be 8 days of talk time on a "brand new" iphone 4. They were actually trying to call my provider and make sure I hadn't used it for more than the allotted time. I was given a refund after just about losing my cool on the poor guy working there. He was in fact very nice and very understanding, but could offer no help besides giving me a refund.  My husband and I have purchased many phones from the certain wireless wave location, and I can't help but wonder how many other used products we have purchased!

It's not an Apple issue and Apple has nothing to do with it.
The only way to buy an iPhone officially refurbished by Apple is to buy it from an Apple store or via Apple's website.
Refurbished iPhones sold via other retailers are not refurbished by Apple.
Sounds like Wireless Wave did all they could... they refunded your money.
Your only issue is with them.  Stop getting all worked up over it.

  • I have the wifi gray out issue and have tried all the steps!

This is a hardware issue and Apple SHOULD replace the phone even if out of warranty!!!!!!!!  This is the second phone that has done this and it is obviously an issue according to everyone else's post.  Apple find a solution for the problem before you manufacture another Iphone!!!!!!!

these are user to user forums.  you are not addressing apple by posting here.

  • After i had my hard drive replaced, i've gone to get my old emails and am unable to find them on time machine. The file com.apple.mail.plist isn't there. HELP!

Pretty sure this will be some sort of user error, but i'm lost.
I had to have my hard drive replaced, so before taking it to the genius bar, i backed up using time machine. I'd had issues with trying to use Carbon Copy Cloner previously so had formatted the external drive before doing time machine. TM seemed to work fine and copied what looked to be everything. Once i'd got the new hard drive in and went to restore everything, when i looked for the file i need to get to apparently get my mails back (Library > Preferences > com.apple.mail.plist) it's not there.
Any help would be MASSIVELY appreciated.
    J

Turn Time Machine OFF temporarily in its preference pane. Leave the window open.
Navigate in the Finder to your backup disk, and then to the folder named "Backups.backupdb" at the top level of the volume. If you back up over a network, you'll first have to mount the disk image file containing your backups by double-clicking it. Descend into the folder until you see the snapshots, which are represented by folders with a name that begins with the date of the snapshot. Find the one you want to restore from. There's a link named "Latest" representing the most recent snapshot. Use that one, if possible. Otherwise, you'll have to remember the date of the snapshot you choose.
Inside the snapshot folder is a folder hierarchy like the one on the source disk. Find one of the items you can't restore and select it. Open the Info dialog for the selected item. In the Sharing & Permissions section, you may see an entry in the access list that shows "Fetching…" in the Name column. If so, click the lock icon in the lower right corner of the dialog and authenticate. Then delete the "Fetching…" item from the icon list. Click the gear icon below the list and select Apply to enclosed items from the popup menu.
Now you should be able either to copy the item in the Finder or to restore it in the time-travel view. If you use the time-travel view, be sure to select the snapshot you just modified. If successful, repeat the operation with the other items you were unable to restore. You can select multiple items in the Finder and open a single Info dialog for all of them by pressing the key combination option-command-I.
When you're done, turn TM back ON and close its preference pane.

  • Problems with slow finder and com.apple.finder.plist

I have four users in my marketing department, all running Mac Pros with 10.6. and Adobe CS5 and some other software for design work. Each one has a slowness issue using the Finder (by itself and inside programs (ie, within Photoshop and going to Open)) when accessing our network drives.  Other people, including myself, can access those same directories without slowness.
'Slowness' is an understatement. What would normally take a second is taking 5 to 10 minutes to show content in folders.
When I delete "com.apple.finder.plist" off their systems, and reboot, everything snaps back to being speedy, but it doesn't last and they need to remove that file once a day.
I have two saved plist files before they deleted it, but I don't know what do look for when I view the contents with a plist editor.
Can anyone offer some suggestions on why this could be happening? Or how can I view and see what this file is being hung up on?

Download and run all the cleaning and maintainence aspects of the free OnyX while each machine is offline and reboot, leave offline until all are completed and then put them back online.
See if that clears the issue or reveals some more issues with the checks.
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11582/onyx
OnyX also has a plist checker under Verify.

  • Sidebar inoperable and missing com.apple.sidebarlists.plist file

My sidebar seems to be 'broken'. Originally I had a few extra folders added to it along with the usual drives and home folders etc, but whenever I tried to add another folder, or re-arrange the existing ones, it would simply revert back the next time I logged in.
I followed a few suggestions on here and deleted the com.apple.finder.plist file, and I looked for 'com.apple.sidebarlists.plist' on my computer, but couldn't find it - could this be the problem?
Having deleted the com.apple.finder.plist my sidebar has reverted to it's 'out of the box' form, but loses any customisation on restart - ie reverts back to it's default.
Annoying, since I use this feature a lot. Any suggestions, short of a full re-install?!!!

Having this exact problem, and posted on it a while ago in this forum. Never found a solution that was short of reinstalling Snow Leopard.
I restored from a Time Machine backup once but of course that gave exactly the same behaviour.
I've finally decided to do something about it again after trying to live with it but I really need this function to speed up my workflow.
Similarly to the OP I have created separate accounts which do not suffer from the problem - they retain any customisations once restarted.
Also, I cannot find the com.apple.sidebarlists.plist file. I'm going to try the same steps suggested here and will report back - in the meantime however if you have managed to solve the problem another way I would be very interested.
I had thought that setting up a new account and transferring over all of my files might be the way to do it but am quickly running into issues (for example, transferring an iTunes library and retaining ratings / playcounts etc....).

  • Missing com.apple.alf.plist, and can't re-create it

All of my browsers are blocking content I believe due to a missing com.apple.alf.plist file. I've ran Repair Disk and Repair permissions, but it doesn't bring it back. Is there a manual way I can re-create the file?

OK, Since I haven't gotten any responses about this it must be a complicated issue.  Just as a quick check could some of you good people out there look at the "Get Info" window for the systempreferences.app and see if your permissions look like mine?  I'm still having trouble with the firewall settings not acting as expected such as apps and processes that I have approved/denid connection access not showing up in the firewall pane of system preferences and having to reapprove each startup.  Thank you in advance for any help on this.

  • Keychain issues - OmniOutliner opens when opening com.apple.security.plist

This issue really starts with Keychain and Mail, which has been asking for password login after every startup. I had thought the way to manage this would be to trash the com.apple.security.plist then restart - but when I pull up the .plist in spotlight, and click on it -- OmniOutliner opens. This is to my greater surprise because I don't recall downloading this app. It seems this is exactly what's corrupted. Suggestions on how to proceed?

roam - thanks - so far this looks good.
    1. Changed association to Text edit.
    2. Locked keychain.
    3. Mail responds normally.
(Funny, but last time I tried to look into this issue in August, the keychain access was virtually empty. I have no idea why, but I'm sure it was. Now, it's populated again. I wonder if one of the recent updates had something to do with that.)
    Here's what's left to do -
In my effort to solve this before posting, I have 2 plists, 1 in the trash, 1 on the desktop. I'd already dragged the old plist into the trash. The new plist is on the desktop and retitled itself "com.apple.security 11-09-12.plist" after I dragged it out of the trash. (btw, the desktop plist is the one re-associated with Text Edit.)
    1. What should I do with the .plist on my desktop?
    2. Empty the trash?
Thanks again, almost done here --

  • Issues with Apple Services and WiFi

I have a 4G iPod Touch that has one of the most annoying, baffling, and downright irritating issues I've ever see with regards to WiFi signal strength.
At anything less than full strength, Apple Services just about refuse to work at all. This means:
The App Store will not connect to Apple's Servers and provide the list of updates it says are there. It just sits and thinks forever.
Once I have the list, and start updates, should the signal strength drop, my iPod reports it's unable to procure the update.
iMessages will not connect to Apple's Servers to send OR receive messages. It will report failure over, and over, and over again until the wifi is at full strength.
Meanwhile, literally everything else that requires an internet connection? Works flawlessly. Google Hangouts? Works when iMessages fails. Safari and Chrome? Work when iMessages and the App Store fail. Mail? Works. Facebook? Google+? Work. Trillian? Skype? Work. By all indications, my wifi strength is perfectly capable of supporting an internet connection, nevermind sending and receiving data, yet any connection to Apple's Servers results in failure.
The most irritating part of this? If I get it to a strong signal, especially with iMessages, and send my message, it will then work just fine where ever I take it. Eventually, however, it drops it's connection and stops receiving again.
    What. The. Literal. ****.
I live in a single storey house. The router is at one end, I'm typically at the other. Construction of the house does not impede signal strength. I've owned three laptops, all of them have received a strong signal at this end of the house. I've got an Xbox 360 and a PS3 back here. Both on wifi, both recieving strong. The iPod? Reports a varying strength between two and three bars. Usually two. I think that can be interpreted as strong reception. So that said, it's not like I'm attempting to do any of this on poor wifi signal. I'd venture to say I'm not an idiot and do have reasonable expectations of when things should work and when they're likely to not work. This should be working. It does not.
I've taken this up with the Geniuses at the local Apple Store. Diagnostics came up clean, they had no other suggestions of thoughts beyond their usual "Nuke it from Orbit" option (Just restore it and hope any issues go away. I did. The issues remain.).
Does anyone else have this problem?
Is this old hardware dying and Apple's diagnostics are failing to pick it up?
Is this an iOS issue? Should I just downgrade (I have zero issues doing that).
I've dealt with this for months, and it's getting to the point where I'd just as soon chuck it at the nearest wall out of frustration.

The router is incapable of being moved (AT&T U-verse, it pretty much has to be located in the same room as the TV), and even then, I really doubt it's location is at fault when everything else reliant on wifi works, aside from Apple Services on  my iPod (and again, outside of those, the iPod uses wifi just fine).
I've not seen those support documents before, but in general it's all information I've gone round in circles with previously on numerous occasions.
I figured any discussion on the actual downgrading process wouldn't be an avenue I could persue here. I'm merely curious if anyone thinks it would be a potential solution before I expend effort on it.

  • Iphone 6 won't work with my Bluetooth in car- Apple needs to admit this is issue and fix it!

Ever since I got my IPhone 6 two weeks ago it has failed to make any type of connection with my GM car Blue Tooth device.  I have read the forums on here and attempted all the fixes- none of them worked.  Reset just about everything on the phone, reset about everything on the car BT device- no dice.  Phone just keeps spinning and saying 'Devices' but never connects to one.
Now here is the kicker, I reached out to Apple Support who told me to 'reset' again.  Went ahead and did so even though I told Support I tried this several times, still no dice.  Apple Support tells me to go to Apple Store and they will get it to work.  Went to the store, shocking that I talked to like 3-4 other people in the store that were also having BT issues with IOS8, on all types of Iphones.  The Apple employee had me (guess what) 'reset' everything for like the 100th time since I got the phone, no dice.  Here is the kicker, the Apple employee pulled her phone out and went to the BT and she couldn't get a connection to the BT device in the store.  Instead of admitting that she too was having issues, she instead quickly closed her BT APP hoping I wouldn't see that she was having issues.  Instead she gives me a brand new IPhone and tells me to go home and do all the downloads and it should work.  Talk about the all time push off, went ahead and did it and same problem as before.  She then tells me if the problem continues to go to GM and tell them to do a firmware update.  I was like 'come again', you want me to just drive up to Detroit to GM headquarters and go tell their CEO to do a firmware update.  This is super frustrating, my job is on the road, I need BT to work since I live in a state that you have to drive hands free.
I am out of ideas and don't know what to do, I really wish Apple would just come out and put a IOS FIX on this and admit to fact that the BT is an issue.  Stuck with this dang phone now, so tired of it and Apple now.

you have two kickers in there.
    Cheers
    Pete

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -Rh $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
The first step should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word, all lower case, with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
