IP Networking Control Files
Hi
I use both Linux and Mac OS X. Under Linux, there are IP networking control files but I don't see any under OS X. I was curious how IP information is stored under OS X, if not in control files.
Thank you in advance.
Paul
Mac OS X uses its .plist for most elements of system configuration, including networking.
You can find the relevant file in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.networkConfig.plist
It's a binary plist file, which you can convert to text (XML) using plutil, or use a property list editor.

RC-50004: Fatal: Error occurred in ApplyDatabase: Control file creation fai
Hi guys,
I am cloning and EBS 12.1.3 from one server to another, and when Configuring the target system database server with ''perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier'', I am getting the following error:
RC-50004: Fatal: Error occurred in ApplyDatabase:
Control file creation failed
MOS is saying that it is due to wrong permissions on the /var/tmp/.oracle directory and we should give it the following permissions:
chmod 777 /var/tmp/.oracle
After giving those permissions and rebooting the server , and running the perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier script, I am still having the same problem:
RC-50004: Fatal: Error occurred in ApplyDatabase:
Control file creation failed
This is the contents of the ApplyDBTier log file (since the file exceed 30.000 characters, i am going to post the parts where the errors occur:

Please guys, how can I solve this problem?@Hussain Sawwan
Hi Hussain,
After successfully configured the DbTier and AppsTier with their respective post clone scripts the appstier was automatically started at the end.
But now, I can't seem to connect with my IE 9 and Firefow browsers.

Hi All,
I am trying to upgrade our database to 11g and I am getting the following error when I try to start the database with the STARTUP UPGRADE command. I am doing a manual upgrade and following the Upgrade guide:

What's weird is that I checked and the ASM instance is up and running. I checked all the environment variables ( set PATH and ORACLE_HOME to new 11g home) and I also set the oratab entry to point to the new Oracle Home as the documentation says. Below are my entries from the .bash_profile file and the oratab file.

if [ -f ~/.bashrc ]; then
. ~/.bashrc

Thank you all.Hm ... please have a look into ML-Note:337737.1 (I'm just mentioning the combinations with an 11g database) - I noticed that you don't have a RAC installation but nevertheless you'll have CSS running for your ASM instance.
CRS........ASM............DB......Certified
11.1_____11.1_____11.1_____Y
11.1.____10.2______11.1_____Y
11.1_____10.1.0.3__11.1_____Y
So upgrading the ASM instance first should solve this issue. Upgrading ASM means: you'll shutdown your database running in ASM and upgrade the ASM instance with the DBUA. It'll take just a few minutes because there's no data dictionary in ASM.
Kind regards
Mike

Edited by: ayadsufyan on 21-Nov-2012 01:30I'd say the error message is pretty self-evident:
ORA-00202: control file: 'E:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\ORCL\CONTROL01.CTL'
ORA-27041: unable to open file
OSD-04002: unable to open file

And what does this have to do with database security? -

I was facing Control file inconsistence issues against 2 partitions. Issue was resolved by using above commands and Netweaver started successfully. Im now facing another problem, im getting huge tracefiles in SAPTRACE\BACKGROUND folder since its recovery. I deleted those tracefiles which were of approx. 86GB.
Current Tracefiles sizes are:
<drive>:\oracle\TST\saptrace\background\tst_m000_5188.trc (7MB) and it is getting double by each generation.
Here are tracefiles of today (old ones deleted by me coz it was consuming a hell of space, e.g: 86GB as mentioned):
tst_m000_5188.trc (7 MB) Latest
tst_j000_5316.trc (4MB)
Here is Initial info from alert_tst.txt file contained in same folder:

Control file and spfile auto backup backup is failing
Hello All,
I am using Oracle RAC 11gR2 with ASM. My database is 2 nodes RAC1 and RAC2.
I am taking RMAN database backups to ASM diskgroup (FRA) and to a Network File System mounted on both RAC1 and RAC2. I have this requirement to take backup also outside ASM.
I have set: CONFIGURE CONTROL FILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
I am runing the RMAN backup job from node 2 (RAC2)
I am facing the below error when taking a backup to the Network File system;
Starting Control File and SPFILE Autobackup at 08-SEP-12

Watch folder "render control file not valid"
I'm using cc 2014 on my main workstation and render nodes. I can't get the render engine to accept a job because I get the "render control file not valid" error when setting the watch folder. But, I can use the render engine on my main workstation and the job will start just fine. That leads me to believe its a permissions problem, but all of my network computers are set up to work as a 3d animation render farm and it all works pretty well with all computers being able to read and write to each other with full permissions.
Is there anything else I can look at that might help? Thanks in advance.> "Hello - is there any one left at Adobe to help with this? "

How to relocate one of the control files on another computer?
Hi ,
I have created a database(10g Release 2) on a windows xp laptop. The control_files parameter is:
C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL01.CTL, C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL02.CTL, C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL03.CTL *, and I use spfile* . Now, I would want to move the third control file(C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL03.CTL) to a disk on another computer ( which is a desktop running Windows XP SP2).The laptop and the desktop are on the same network, the laptop IP address is 192.168.0.1, and the desktop IP address is 192.168.0.2.On the desktop, I have a directory named CONTROL_FILES_DIR on a disk partition named C,*and using Windows appropriate GUI, I have shared this directory CONTROL_FILES_DIR , and given to all users the read and write rights on this CONTROL_FILES_DIR directory*. Then, I take the following steps:
a- In sql*plus(on the laptop), I execute
alter system set control_files='C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL01.CTL', 'C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\DB10G\CONTROL02.CTL', '\\192.168.0.2\C:\CONTROL_FILES_DIR\CONTROL03.CTL' SCOPE=SPFILEb- Then , in sql*plus(on the laptop), I execute
shutdown immediate;c- Now, I copy CONTROL03.CTL file (on the laptop) and paste it in the directory C:\CONTROL_FILES_DIR on the desktop.
d-Now, in sql*plus(on the laptop), I execute
connect /as sysdba e-And,after the step d, I execute(in sql*plus, on the laptop):
startupAnd sql*plus displays the message : ORA-00205 error in identifying control file; check alert log .
I read the alert log file , and it was written:
ORA-00202: control file: '\\192.168.0.2\C:\CONTROL_FILES_DIR\CONTROL03.CTL'
ORA-27041: unable to open file
OSD-04002: Unable to open file

Thanks.Even if you get this to work one time, the very operation of your db is dependent on the availability of that second computer. Not a wise design decision. What problem are you trying to solve with this technique? -
Cross-platform render farm nodes: no render control file found?!
Hi all. Need some help with this setup...
Host:
PC- intel pentium 805D, 3gb ddr2 ram, xp pro, cs3
Nodes:
iMac g5 ppc- 1.9gHz, 1gb ddr2 ram, leopard, cs3
mac g4 ppc- 450mHz, 1.10gb pc133 ram, tiger, cs3
PC- amd athlon xp, 2gb ddr ram, xp pro, AE 7.0 pro (no SSE-2 support on proc)
First, though i'm pretty sure 7.0 won't interact with cs3, will the 7.0 render engine work with cs3 projects just for rendering?
Second, my problem. I start the render engine on all nodes, watching the folder on my RAIDed external drives attached to my iMac. I collect the files on my intel pc to the watch folder. the iMac starts rendering right away, but the g4 says *no render control file found for "project.aep* and just keeps searching. The g4 is connected to the watch folder via the network, and the g5 can see the g4, so I don't get why it can't read and help render.
I get the same problem with the older pc, but unless I find out that the render engine should work with the newer cs3, i'm not gonna worry about it.
Thanks in advance for the help and insight!Check the length of filenames, directory recursion depth and names of internal project items. Either some special character is breaking up the references or they really are too long. Macs are extremely sensitive to this kind of stuff - always have been, probably ever will be - even on OSX.

ORA-27041: unable to open file

O/S-Error: (OS 2) The system cannot find the file specified.Hi Kuljeet,
since you have a Windows system, I suggest you to open Windows explorer and check if all the 3 control files are there or not in the given location. It seems that your control01.ctl file is missing. If so then you have 2 options;
1. Delete the entry from the parameter file for this control file so that Oracle does not use this file at all.
OR
2. Shut down your database normally and then copy the control02.ctl or control03.ctl manually with the copy command and rename it to control01.ctl. If you follow this option you need not delete the control01.ctl entry from the parameter file. But note to copy the control file the database has to be shutdown normally. -

Short dump: Network Control cannot be started
Hello Everyone,
i am not sure wheter i am right or not but here is my quesion:
I am running 2SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version" on Windows XP.
I am trying to learn Data Modelling in the BW Workbench.
When I try to change a "transformation process" in theDatawarehouing Workbench: Modelling" the programm will be terminated and i get the folowing short dump:
Error analysis
Short text of error message:
Network could not be launched due to control error
Long text of error message:
Diagnosis
Network control cannot be started either because is is not installed on the front-end computer, or because the control framework is inconsistent when the function is called up. To be able to start the network graphic, you need two OCX files that are delivered with the BW Frontend.
System Response
Processing has been terminated.
Procedure
Make sure that the OCXs ICDataFlow.ocx and wdbdadpt.ocx auf are
installed on your computer. You can find notes on installing and
checking the BW Frontend by searching for SAP Notes with the
following key words:
Version, sapservX, Setup, Patch, Installation, Frontend, BW,
sapbexc.xla, checktool, wdtaocx, wdtaocx.ocx
Does anyone know a solution for this problem? How can I install the "netplan control"?
Thanks for help!
ArneI think you need to install extra BI components into your GUI.
