IPad Air battery overheats. why?

iIpad Air -Over heat
I have had an iPad Air for less than a year and it seems that now ir is overheatig. I only use my table from home for conventional use. Check emails, watch some videos on you tube, surf the web etc. My settings are well organized and never charge it for long periods or time.
DOes anyone have have the same issue? Would it be the poor internet connection that is making my iPad work harder? Would it be the cover? Is it the battery?
thnk!

1. Are sure it is the battery and not the iPad?
2. Gets hot during charging?
3. Get hot when playing graphic intensive games?
4. Does battery give you approximately 10 hours of use per charge?
5. Does it takes a long time to charge?

My iPad Air battery drains EXTREMELY fast and it's supposed to have up to 10 hours (only 2-3 hours for me) and my iPad charger keeps charging backwards and it always dies even though it's charged. This makes no sense at all and it frustrates me because I have to leave it alone while charging but I want to go on it while charging. The charger takes FOREVER to get to 100% when not using it. My iPad Air is a 128 GB with wifi. Please help and tell me if this happens to you also. Thanks.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • IPad Air 2 VS iPad Air battery Observation

Hello, just had an interesting discovery (at least it was to me!)
Comparing the original USB chargers for both my iPad air and new iPad Air 2, I discovered that the wattage for the iPad Air 2 was 10W and the iPad Air is 12W.
I found this to seem a little strange, so I looking into the batter specs on both models and found this:
    The iPad Air:
    Built-in 32.4-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery
    The iPad Air 2:
    Built-in 27.3-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery
So... the battery is actually smaller in the new iPad Air 2??
That's why it has a smaller watt USB charger?? Interesting!
The iPad Air has great battery life... I know the new model is more efficient, and the battery life is supposed to be same most likely... But how much better would the Air 2 be with the larger battery?? Or did the larger battery have to be sacrificed to get the lower weight and slimmer size of the Air 2?
No real question here, just an observation.

Thanks Skydiver119, I've looked at all those settings - I allow nothing to run in the background, and turn off notifications for virtually everything.
I think Skype is harder on the battery life of my Air 2 than my Air - maybe it's not optimized for the newer hardware, or maybe there are some OS updates that made it work less well. I went for a couple of weeks without using Skype at all, and my battery life was closer to what I expected it to be.
My real point is that Apple made the Air 2 thinner than the Air for no good reason - the Air was wonderfully thin and light already. Taking away battery life for the sake of a thinner tablet is a waste. Especially when more and more competing tablets are offering better battery life (such as from Lenovo), Apple should care more about the experience of people using their product vs. being able to brag about a new product being thinner. Heck, improve the battery life and brag about THAT! :-)

  • Having problem with Ipad Air battery?

when I was watching Youtube, my Ipad Air ran out to 3% battery, then I plugged in the charger. It showed charging but it still shut down because out of battery. It's never happened to my Ipad 2

I know this may have already been resolved by the above person but I just found out some information that may help some others in the rare event that this may happen to your iPad Air. My battery on mine was draining pretty fast almost 2 months after I got it.  Before that I started to notice the screen had a blue srteak or blob in it when I view a very dark background or picture.  I took to Apple store and discovered that the unit apparently had a leaking polymer cell within the battery its self.  Being under warranty,  Apple replaced mine and the battery is awesome now.  I have the T-Mobile iPad Air 16 gigabyte model.

  • Since OS 7.1.2 Update...iPad Air Battery dead by morning

I spent most of yesterday searching for solutions to my problem, and even tried a few things. However, when I went to bed last night, my iPad air was fully charged at 100%. I unplugged it and looked at the Usage data before putting it to sleep. Then this morning, I turned it on, only to see the Apple logo and then 1% charge left! I then looked at the usage data again before plugging it in to charge.
Here is the usage data last night at 100%, before unplugging it and putting it to sleep:
    8 min
    8 min
And usage data this morning at 1% before plugging it back in:
    5 hrs 58 min
    5 hrs 58 min
This appears to have started after I made the OS 7.1.2 update. I've also noticed the problem on my iphone 5 as well...but possibly not to this extent.
What gives here? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm about ready to do a complete wipe out of everything and start over as if it was new! But...it's an iPad Air and I shouldn't have to do that...in my opinion.
For anyone wondering what I tried yesterday...this is what I did:
    1. Checked usage, then put into sleep mode and checked it 5 minutes later.   According to the "test", it does indicate a battery draining problem.
    2. Attempted to turn off "refresh background"...only to find I had already done that a long time ago.
    3. Turned off email push notifications and switched to "fetch" every hour.
    4. Turned off battery percentage
Any help is appreciated! Apple...where is support for this issue?
    Thanks
    Laurie

The more I think about this, isn't a black screen with the white apple logo the INSTALLATION screen? Not the downloading screen (which is white with a BLACK apple logo...)
Can anyone clear that up?  Thank you!
Ok: the MORE I think about this, that was the installation screen NOT the 7.1.2 download screen because now I remember it asking me to INSTALL it, .... definitely installation screen.
So new question: even though it appeared to not finish installing before I rebooted it, do you think all is fine now?  Thanks!

  • Ipad air battery life

hey i just bought my ipad air and i noticed that battery life isnt 10 hours. Im watching videos from my ipad for my education and after 8 hours 40 minutes the battery has drained. Is that normal?

Apple states up to 10 hours. Depends on what you are doing with it. Sounds normal.

  • IPad Air battery replacement.

Realizing that this is an issue for the future.  Do we anticipate that Apple will support the eventual replacement for a fee, when the battery of the iPad Air wears out.  I have read about how difficult it will be to DIY.  This info might have a bearing on whether to get one or not.

No reason to think that Apple will not offer battery replacement service for the iPad Air.
    See this for more info...http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipad

  • Ipad air battery does not reach 100%

I just bought my new ipad air (first generation... I bought it today)
I charged it 4 hours but it keeps stuck at 99%.
I saw 99% one hour ago, but it still does not reach 100%.
    What should I do?

Use the iPad as normal. The battery gauge is just an approximate indicator. It's accuracy will never be 100% correct.

  • HT1665 lightening to 30-pin Adapter charges my Ipad Air VERY slowly; why is that?

I purchased an Apple, Lightning to 30-pin Adapter, to convert my current charger, to one that will charge my Ipad Air.  When I try to charge my Ipad Air, using this Adapter, it does charge, but at a VERY slow pace!  Is that normal, or is something wrong with it?

  • Ipad air 2 overheats

  • How do I stop apps from my iPad Air being downloaded to the iPhone4?

If I download a game or app to my iPad Air in iOS8, why is it downloaded to my iPhone4 automatically when I sync through iTunes12 on my iMac. Have I somehow turned this auto match download? How do I stop this from happening? I only want what I download to the iPad Air, unless I manually decide to install it on the iPhone4 through iTunes12.
    jr

With the settings changed on the iPhone4, why the iPad Air? I downloaded the apps to it. Then chose to delete them, which works. I just have to remember to delete them from iTunes12 eventually.

  • My new IPad Air is hot after only 10 minutes browsing using cellular network and also wifi.

I just bought IPad Air few days ago, and start from day one very time I use the IPad for browsing internet, it turns quite hot and it is very uncomfortable. Please give me solution for this.  Do I need to bring the IPad to Apple service or I can do something in the device to fix this problem. Because the device really hot after 10 minutes. I used to have IPad 2 and still have it actually and never experienced the same thing, it works very good until now. Thank you.

The iPad Air battery is bigger, it has a more powerful CPU and GPU and a brighter, higher-resolution screen than an iPad 2. Warmer is normal. Too hot to touch is not.

  • I just get the new iPad air and when connecting it to my laptop, why the battery is not charging?

just get the new iPad air and when connecting it to my laptop, why the battery is not charging?

A lot of computers don't provide enough power to their USB ports to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge the iPad.
