Ipad can receive email headers but no text or attachments

I can receive email headers; Who sent the email, subject.  but cannot see text or attachments?

Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or this.
Quit the maill app completely. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Then try mail again.

  • Gmail on iPhone4: can receive email but cannot send email

I am using a brand new iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1. I can receive emails from Gmail without any problems, but when trying to send emails I get the error message "the connection to the outgoing server 'smtp.gmail.com' failed. Additional outgoing mail servers can be configured in settings..."
After spending many (!!!) hours on this, I suspect it comes down to one setting in "mail, contacts, calendar", then gmail account information > outgoing mail server > smto.gmail.com; authentication is preset on "MD5 Challenge". This text is grey and cannot be altered. I assume the setting must be "password" instead, but how the *** can I change this?
    Desperate. Please enlighten me!
    Merry Christmas!

I solved my problem.  Thanks razmee209 for your response.

  • I can receive emails from three different accounts but can't send a photo. It says the server doesn't allow relaying???

I can receive emails from three different accounts but can't send a photo from them. It says the server doesn't allow relaying???

I have a hard time describing this exactly, so I copied this from another thread. This seems to be a recent issue with AOL email accounts on the iPad the past few days. I have two AOL accounts and they work fine. See if this works for you.
+If you cannot send, under the smtp server your user name and password must be entered even though the prompt tells you it is optional.  As a mobile device the port used is different from the one I would normally use if at home and therefore validation is required by use of the password.  The normal port for the smtp server is 110 but to use on a mobile unit like the iPad port 587 is used.+
The big thing is to make sure that your username and password are filled in - Select your email account in the Mail setting and tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Outgoing Mail Server and then tap on the arrow next to smtp server under the Primary Server and fill in the information in there.
Some times you have to resort to deleting the account and starting over again.

  • I can receive emails but can't send them

I can receive emails on my ipad but cant send them.  I have checked the settings and they seem ok so what can the problem be?

If you had a password for incoming mail make sure you use it for out going mail too.
or check that it is the correct info atleast.
Just because it recieves only means you got incoming info correct most likely need to correct out going.
If you use outlook on your computer , just look up account and properties, this will list correct info to use except the password will be all *'s.
If not sure ask your ISP, internet service provider, and ask for the info but you will still have to supply your password.
