IPad cover lock

after IOS 6 update my iPad cover lock is no longer functioning.  Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? How does the cover lock work, from camera or via magnet somewhere?

I have had iPad 2 for about two years. Now all of a sudden the cover lock behavior has changed. It used to be the case that closing the cover would switch screen off AND LOCK. That is, upon opening the cover, you would need to slide the lock to activate the iPad.  The only thing I am not sure is if the iPad would switch back on without locking if you did not wait for the auto-lock time before reopening the cover.
Now, regardless of how long you wait, opening the cover brings back he screen view you had when you closed it, that is, closing the cover  never locks. Notice that closing the cover does switch the screen off (and you hear the accompanying click), but it just doesn't lock. Furthermore, the following sequences now happen:
iPad on - lock button - lock (or home) button --> iPad locked BUT
iPad on - lock button - close cover - open cover --> iPad on
I think this is not right and something happened. The only thing I recently did which may have something to do with it is that for the first time I needed to prevent auto lock and so set auto lock to "never". But I reset auto lock to 2 minutes before observing the behavior I described above.
Any clue about what might have happened?

  • How can I add the iPad cover lock option to the iPad 2?

The iPad cover lock option doesn't come up on my settings on my iPad 2. How can I add it?

    Hi Sven,
You can't. GC does not support the monitoring of standalone HTTP server installs. Only HTTP servers which have been setup through an iAS install can be monitored.
I have had a SR raised with Oracle regarding this and a enhancement request has now been raised, but how long this will take is anyone's guess.

  • HT201471 Do we have ipad cover lock in ipad model MD513LL

Do we have ipad cover lock option in ipad model MD513LL?

That is a new 16gb white iPad 4 (?) - in which case you should have a Settings > General > iPad Cover Lock / Unlock setting, though that may not appear until a smart cover is attached to it.

  • TS3308 The settings in my iPad does not have the button iPad cover Lock / Unlock, what should I do to make the button appear?

I just bought an iPad mini on 24th June, previously I had just use the iPad 2,
when I bought my iPad in Sydney, the salesgirl said that the settings of iPad mini would be the same to iPad to but the difference would only be the size.
But after I bought the casing at another store I use it immediately but when I close my casing the screen didn't sleep. So when I open my settings I couldn't see anywhere the button iPad cover lock or unlock.
What should I do ? Help??

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • I have 2nd gen Ipad which I recently updated to ios 6.1.2 and my auto cover lock does not work, so is the lock button, i cannot lock my ipad manually!!

I recently updated my ipad wifi only to the new ios 6.1.2 and initially I had the auto cover lock option which can be seen in the Generals tab, but then it stoped working!! Before the update, the auto cover lock worked fine. So after trying all the options, I then did a complete reset on the ipad and now its gone all together from the General tab!! I can no longer see the "auto cover lock" option.
It got really annoying when I tried to use the lock button and it wont lock the sceen!! To test whether the button was allright, I did a long press and the message came if I wanted to shut down the ipad. So the button works fine, but I cannot use it to manually lock the ipad. Now the only way to lock the ipad is to wait for 2 mins (autolock) and still I cannot wake up the Ipad using the lock button. To do that I have to use the Home Screen button
Does any one else have similar issues and any solutions pls!! Cheers

The iPad cover lock is for when you use a cover with magnets in it to lock and unlock the iPad when you close the cover or open it. Try running a refrigerator magnet along the sides of the iPad and see if that trips the iPad Cover Lock back into the settings.
That is not the same thing as the iPad Auto Lock setting which allows you to set an allotted time before the iPad goes to sleep.
You can try resetting all settings to see if the Auto Lock feature retinrs to the iPad.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. This can be a little time consuming re-entering all of the device settings again.

  • Why isn't my Smart Cover locking my iPad?

My Smart Cover is no longer locking my iPad 2. I have rebooted and turned off the cover lock, closed the cover and then turned it back on...nothing changes.

First make sure you've updated the iOS.
Go to settings/general/ make sure ipad cover lock/unlock is turned on.
After verifying that, and still does not work then....
Reboot the device by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings

Does the iPad mini have the cover lock capability?

Yes it should work, as long as you have the preference turned on. Settings > General > iPad Cover Lock / Unlock

  • Ipad2 - cover lock not working - can anybody help?

Ipad2 - cover lock not working - can anybody help?

    Settings -> General -> iPad cover lock/unlock -> On
Try toggling this setting on then off. Are you sure the case you have has the magnets that are compatible with this feature. Also with the setting turned on you could try a Reset, hold down the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time for 10 seconds, the iPad will then perform a reset.

  • Cover lock

After updated with iOS 6.1.2, my iPad cover lock doesn't work anymore. How can I fix it?

Make sure that it is still turned on in Settings>General>iPad cover lock/unlock>on.
If it is turned on, reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that didn't work, try opening and closing your cover or readjusting or - depending on what type of cover it is - to see if you can line it up a little better with the iPad magnets.

  • If you forget your cover lock passcode, how do you reset it?

If you forget your cover lock passcode, how do you reset it?

If you've forgotten the passcode to unlock the iPad then you will need to connect it to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a different computer then :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • Hi. Does using the cover lock help battery life?

Hi. Does using the cover lock help battery life?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • IPad air locking up frequently

I have a iPad Air (part of the first ordered iPad Airs) that in the past 24 hours, has locked up more than 4 times.  No real distiguishable pattern - each time it has happened in a different app, including Apple/iOS (e.g. Settings).  Ive already done two hard resets, and it's still doing it.  I'm backing it up now and will do a restore, but just wondering if anyone else is having similar problems?

This has been happening to me, and it is not a problem of not enough memory, etc.  I called Apple Support, and the tech had me turn the smart cover lock off and on, and reset the Network Settings, and it SEEMS to have made a difference.  So far, I have not had the problem again (which also included Safari's suddenly closing).  It also SEEMS to me that the iPad has its speed back.... I had not really noticed that it seemed to have slowed down, but since I made those setting tweaks, it has seemed much faster.  So, you might try these things and see if it makes a difference for you.

  • IPad cover does not turn screen off after iOS6 installation

After installing iOS6, the screen does not turn off when closing the iPad cover

Did you check in settings, General....Use cover lock ON?
It could have switched off on you.

  • IPad mini locks up sometimes when using Logitech ultra slim keyboard.

I bought a 32 gb mini iPad confiured for a Verizon data plan.  I also purchased a Logitech Unltraslim keyboard/cover to use with it via bluetooth.  However, sometimes the mini iPad screen locks up and I cannot remove the on-screen keyboard nor can I get the Logitech bluetooth keyboard to respond.  In order to "unlock" the jam, I have to do a reboot of the system.
Any suggestions on a remedy to keep the mini iPad from locking up?

    Let's examine the facts:
-Another wireless keyboard has worked fine with your iPad
-You have exchanged it for another keyboard with the same results
-You have reset your iPad (though I am unsure whether you have done a hard or soft reset).
When I see these facts, my first thought is that it could be a problem with the design of that certain keyboard. If you wanted to go through the trouble of fully resetting your iPad (Settings>General>Reset> Reset all Content & Settings), that's up to you.

  • My iPad is locked and says it needs to be backed up

My iPad is locked and says that it needs to be backed up.  My home is  wi-fi hotspot, so the iPad is constantly connected.  I am having problems getting to merely turn-off.  Was there a software change recently?

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
