Ipad has become unstable

Recently my ipad has started to shutdown while in mail, safari and apps.  Anyone have any thoughts or solutions?

Try any or all of these things. Start with the third one - close all apps. That incorporates a restart as well. If that doesn't help, reset the iPad - the second tip.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Close all apps. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus (-) sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

My word, pages and email has become unstable any suggestions?
This happens during the creation of email or word/pages documents.

Try starting in Safe Mode and see if the problem still occurs?
    Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and delete any third party login items (-), you can always add them back with the (+).

  • My iPad has become extremely touchy  in typing, particularly in Mail.  Is there a clean-out for this?

    iPad 6.1.3
For about the past week, my iPad has become extremely touchy to type on, especially in Mail.  It inserts periods (the short-cut of hitting the space bar twice to put in a period), capitalizes letters, and inserts extra spaces.  I type fast, but even when I type slowly, this happens.  It's at the point now, where I prefer to use my iPod Touch or my iPhone for anything other than just looking something up.  And sometimes, it back spaces and erases everything I've typed before I can stop it!  If I quickly tap the screen it usually stops, but not before it has "automatically"  erased some of my typing.  Is there an app for mobile devices that can clean them out and find glitches, and maybe solve a problem like this?
I've been wondering if there is a clean-up app for mobile devices.  I use a anti-virus program on my iMac, as well as an anti-spyware program.  The anti-virus runs constantly; the anti-spyware program I run once a week.  But there doesn't appear to be anything like this, or Clean My Mac (2) for mobile devices.  I don't think Clean My Drive was intended for mobile devices.  I don't know if it would solve this problem anyway.
Is there a solution for this, other than trotting my iPad down the road to my local Apple store 22 miles south?  Thanks for any advice.  alice d gray

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Safari has become unstable.

Since upgrading to the Lion OS, Safari has becme unstable. It often fails (suddenly quits) when I attempt downloads from the internet. I did not have this problem when using Snow Leopard. Any suggestions?

Launch the Console application and look in "User Diagnostic Reports" for crash logs related to Safari. Select the most recent one and post the contents -- the text, please, not a screenshot.

  • My iPad has become disabled, how can I fix it?

My iPad has turned disabled three days back. I don't know how to fix it?

If it's showing the disabled screen due to too many incorrect passcode attempts then you will need to connect the iPad to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a different computer then :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

  • Hello I have upgraded my iPad again. It seems that something gets upset each time. This time my mailbox has become unstable. It does not receive or send mail. I know my wifi is fine because my laptop is fine. I have switched off the iPad again and again.

Not sure you got my earlier message so I am posing my question again.
Having upgraded my iPad to the more recent OSsomething, my mailbox no longer receives or sends emails.
My wifi is fine, checked with my laptop which works fine. I have switched off the iPad many times but the problem remains. Can anyone help?

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
That's not the same as turning it off or on.
Another things to try is to reset your settings. Use the Settings app for this.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
You will not lose data but you will have to enter all passwords again.
If the problem persists after the reset check your email accounts on the iPad. You could delete them and add them back. This is also done in the Settings app.
    Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar

  • My iPad has become a secondary iPhone.

I am able to text via textPlus (for free), and make calls with Fring to people who have it (for free). I was able to make a call down to my brother down in Puerto Vallarta who also has an iPad. He didn't have cell service but he had wifi in the lobby.
I won't replace my iPhone, but it's kind of nice to know I can do it.

Skype also works well over WiFi on the iPad for voice. I keep hoping they update the iPhone app so it takes advanatage of the iPad screen, but the iPhone version of the app works fine on the iPad. I also use it for teleconferencing at work since calling 800 numbers is free.

  • Have networked external drive for backup. 3 Macs, 1 iMac, 2 MBPros. I'm using Airport Express net'd to Extreme(my router). Ethernet from Express to Seagate Central. Since Maverick Time machine has become unstable, what can I do?

Have 2 almost new Mac Book Pros & a 27" March '13 iMac. All are 10.9.4. Wireless backup for all had been functioning well until Maverick was installed in all three. Airport Extreme is my router, Express connected to Seagate Central 4TB ext drive wirelessly. Wireless sig levels are maxed out at all 3 systems & Time Machine is now unstable and Apple Care networking tech contact says my config is not supported. Will it be supported if I acquire the new Airport Extreme, replacing the older version? If not, what config will permit 3 systems running TM backups every hour to one backup drive?

Apple do not support Time Machine to the older Gen1-5 AE with a USB drive.
I am not even sure if they support Gen6 although they do now say it will work.
You would be better buying a Time Capsule than another AE.. it is much faster than using USB drives and Apple more likely to help you.. if help is possible on mavericks.
You will find a cheaper solution is to use Carbon Copy Cloner.. which can continue using your existing setup.. it costs $40 for a license to cover all the computers in your home.

  • HT201401 After installing 6.1.3, my iphone5 has become unstable. !

  • HT201365 My IPad has become disabled. I visited My Apple ID and changed my password but this doesn't enable to device what do I do?

I upgraded my IPad, latest version with the new iOS7.02 software and did not enter a correct "passcode". the device is now locked and cannot be opened. What to do to open device?

    Thank you for your reply!
It doesn't allow me to use my old Apple ID either. I mean that when i press 'use my apple id' I can see the new Apple ID for 1sec, but then a dialogue box appears that asks me to sign in to my old Apple ID. That's why neither my old and nor my new passwords work. I cannot sign out either. The only thing I can do is to reset my password, but I think that if I do so, I will have the same problem with all my devices again, because I am signed in.

  • Doubly extended Airport network has become unstable

I have an ethernet-wired Airport Extreme generating a wireless network, extended twice by Airport Express units, with a TiVo wireless adapter getting feed from the 2nd AXpress. TiVo is located about 120' from AXtreme; that's the full length of the network. TiVo currently is receiving an IP address most of the time but is not receiving TiVo information, reporting "Gateway not found" (it has connected reliably in the past). All the Apple equipment is glowing green, both on the equipment itself and on the Airport Utility. All AX are running v7.6.3, my OS is 10.6.8 on a 2008 Mac Pro.
All stations are n-capable. AXtreme is currently set up to "Create a wireless network"; "Allow this network to be extended" is checked, Wireless security is WPA2 Personal.
Relay AXpress is set up to "Extend a wireless network." Should it be "Join a wireless network" or "Participate in a WDS network" instead? "Allow wireless clients" is checked. Security is WPA/WPA2 Personal.
Remote AXpress is set up identically to Relay; should it be different?

I have an ethernet-wired Airport Extreme generating a wireless network, extended twice by Airport Express units, with a TiVo wireless adapter getting feed from the 2nd AXpress.
You cannot extend twice. Apple's "extend a wireless network" function works like the hub and spokes of a wheel.
Your AirPort Extreme is the "hub" and each AirPort Express resides at the end of a "spoke".  The devices at the end of a "spoke" communicate directly to the "hub".....not to another device at the end of another "spoke".
You can have multiple devices extending, but each one resides at the end of a separate spoke, since it must communicate directly to the hub.
In your case, the 2nd  AirPort Express cannot "extend", but it can "join" the network. It provides no additional wireless coverage when it joins, but the Ethernet port is enabled if you clicked that option in AirPort Utility.
The Express that is "joining" is going to have a tough time unless it is quite close the 1st AirPort Express so that it can get a good signal. If you think about it, you will realize that the wireless signal has to make two separate "hops" to get to the 2nd AirPort Express. Not good.
If you want the 2nd AirPort Express to "extend" the network, it must be physically located closer to the AirPort Exteme than it is to the 1st AirPort Express.
Never use the WDS option, (which Apple tries to hide for good reason) as it only operates at slower "g" wireless speeds and each relay or remote on the network cuts the bandwidth on the entire network in half. So, with a base station, relay and remote in a WDS setup, your network runs at about 14 Mbps.  That's about where wireless "b" operates....very, very slow....about 10 times slower than a basic "n" network.

  • I use MAC OSX Lion 10.7.5 which has become unstable when using Internet and Pages. Any ideas?

When using word, pages or email the cursor jumps around all over the document placing the typed information anywhere!
I am having to constantly rewrite emails and documents
Even writing this question has taken three attempts.
Any ideas what I can do to solve the problem would be really appreciated.
Could it be a keyboard problem (mine is wi-fi)?

    please someone answer!

  • Since I installed Firefox 17.0.1, the program has become unstable. I have a hard time getting the program to respond to start. I have to try at least 3 times

As I mentioned, the program will not start on the first time that I click the icon. The hourglass appears for a second or two and then disappears.
I have to try at least 3 or more times before the program responds.
Should I try to uninstall 17 and reinstall 16.
I have already uninstalled 17 and reinstalled it.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Help!  Aperture 2.2 has become unstable.

I have all the latest updates. I have 6 Gb RAM and am running Aperture off of a MacPro (Intel). Aperture crashes several times a day. Things that are guaranteed to make it crash: use of the loupe, use of shadow/highlight, use of White Balance and I suspect my Wacom Intuous Tablet (I have the latest drivers for this as well).
What happens is that Aperture freezes and freezes up the rest of my computer. I occasionally get Kernal panics when running Aperture. I have fine tuned my Mac and I am not sure what else to do. I am running CS4 as my external editor, but the crashes started well before that. If I can't get this fixed, I am going with Lightroom 2 (I already loaded it on one of my Apple laptops). Does anybody have any thoughts on this? I do have all my images backed up multiple times, so I am safe in that respect.
    Thanks!

I frequently delete plist files when things go bump in the night. make note of your settings and then trash the aperture.plist file.
As for possible 4Gb application limit etc., whether that is a restriction on Aperture (which I don't know but doubt) that is not a full reflection of the system as a whole. For example, what mix of different programs are running concurrently? The operating system will use memory allocation dependent upon the mix of programs and frequency of data re-accessed. Which is why more memory is often a good thing! (Note: The operating system, since its memory allocation system is 64-bit, can address 16 exabytes of RAM - although in reality, a mere fraction of this fantastic amount is designed into motherboards and memory controller hardware.)
That means it could be a poor RAM chip (not frequent, but it does happen), which shows up only sporadically
So whether Aperture is 32-bit or 64-bit memory addressing is somewhat moot, unless you have a bunch of very, very, VERY big images all resident in your viewer at one time.
