Ipad / Iphone Hotmail sending issue

My hotmail account set up under settings since yesterday does not send e mails from my ipad and iphone but does from Laptop or if I sign in using the intranet and googling hotmail. It says cant connect to server.Any ideas how to resolve

Can you receive mail on the account?
Does Safari work?

Sometime recently, perhaps after updating my iPhone and iPad to iOS 6, I noticed mail is missing from many of my HotMail folders on those devices. My account is set up as an Exchange account. I have since deleted it from my iPad and added it back as a new Exchange account. My Inbox repopulated with a small number of existing emails, but just a few of the 100 plus emails that are accessible via a web browser on my desktop computer. Likewise for my Sent mail and Trash. None of the folders I created on my own populated on my iPad of iPhone with the emails that are in them and which are accessible via desktop and web browser.
If I send a new email message to my account, then after it arrives I move it using my desktop to one of the folders I created, it shows up just fine. In other words, there doesn't seem to be any problem with new emails, just earlier, preexisting emails. I tried using my desktop to move emails from one folder to another to see if they would then populate on my iPad, but that didn't help. I tried marking them as unread. That didn't help either.
I cannot find a way to make preexisting emails show up in the folders on my iPad or iPhone.
Has anybody encountered this before? Is this a known bug? More importantly, is there a fix or a workaround?

I found the answer. It was operator failure, my fault. In the settings on my iPhone and iPad there is a setting called Mail Days to Sync. I had this set to a short duration. When I changed it to No Limit, all the older mail was properly populated into their respective folders.

Hi: I am trying to send email from my iPad and my iPhone using my iCloud account. However, just this morning, my email isn't sending from my ipad or my iphone because it says my username or password isn't correct. I can receive email on my ipad and iphone.
Not sure about my Mac, don't have it at work.

IPhone Hotmail account issues

Hi there
I changed my hotmail password on my computer yesterday. Today, as soon as I unlocked my iPhone screen, as expected I was asked to re-enter my hotmail password. To my disbelief, the password returned "incorrect". I put my new password again waiting for each letter to appear shortly onto the text box before disappearing - to ensure I'm putting the correct password. It popped up as "incorrect". I tried the process again for about 10 times. During this process, I was so frustrated I just wanted to get back on to the home screen by pressing the "Cancel" button or the home button but it wouldn't stop popping up with the "Incorrect password, please retype your password..." message. I then logged in to hotmail on my computer just to make sure I wasn't crazy - logged in on the first attempt. I then had no option but to switch off my iPhone and switched back on and went to my hotmail account and entered my correct password.
Is there anyone with the same issue that has been able to come back to the home screen at least without having to switch off your iPhone? If not, can Apple please look into this and at least give an option for users to go back into the home screen?

Figured out the issue... Hotmail was forcing me to change my password. Changed via web and the account is added and verified.

Is there a iPad/iPhone cache we can't empty?

I'm saving a Safari page to my home screen. When using browse in Safari the page renews with the info I expect but when I use the home page icon to access the page it is holding old info and won't update correctly. Is there a cache that is not being updated in the iPad/iPhone. This issue is on both types of device.

Hi, I understand your comments now thanks. Yep, so done everything like clear cookies, data, history. Carried out hard resets, still Home Page Icon throws up old profile settings yet Safari browsing show new profile settings.

Have you checked ALL the settings including the port assignments? Easiest way to get those back to is to delete the email account from the iPad then redo the email account. Usually the ISP providing the email account will have instructions on their web site.

IPad will not send mail, but iPhone works. Outgoing servers are set up the same. I tried shutting off iPhone to not confuse the wireless network. Still doesn't work.

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

When I send a message from my Ipad to my iPhone it sends it twice?

I send messages to my iPad to my iPhone it sends it twice, once from the name of my ipad and the second one is from my cell number, is there anyway to stop this from happening? Or for that matter whys it happening?

The settings issue would be on your wife's iPhone, assuming the message is being displayed on her phone.

I have no idea what the "freezer fix" is, nor why anyone would think temporary exposure to cold will somehow fix a hardware issue with a 100% solid state device. Also, actually freezing your iPhone may very well itself cause damage.
If you dropped it and wifi immediately failed to work, the odds are you inflicted physical damage to it - perhaps the antennae connection internally. You could try a simple reset and see if that helps, but if not, you need to take it into Apple for an evaluation and diagnosis.
If it has internal damage, since you dropped it, your warranty no longer applies. Apple does not repair iOS devices, the merely swap them for factory refurbished units (and send your damaged one back to the manufacturer in China for refurbishment or recycling). You would ahve to pay the out of warranty replacement fee (look on your country's Apple web site, under support for the iPhone for fees).

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Did you fail to back up your pics?
The photo sync is one way - comptuer to ipod.
You can e-mail them to yourself (instructions in the manual), but they will not be of the original quality.

Work Around:
On your mac:
1. Open a new email
2. Insert name of an existing group into one of the "To" fields as usual.
3. Highlight all the resulting names in the "To" entry
     [Highlight first name, and while holding shift, highlight last name and all will highlight[]
4. Copy (Command C) the highlighted emails
5. Paste (Command V) nto a pages document
6. Remove the name and anything else preceeding the first < and also the first < of only the first entry whixh will look like this:
     [email protected]>,
7. Remove the > of the last email which will look like this:
     , Jane Doe <[email protected]
8. Copy the entire altered list from the pages document
9, Go to Contact Book and click + to add a new entry
10.. Name the entry (XXX Group for iPad) or whatever you wish to call it
11. Paste all the copied altered list into any one of the email entry spaces
12. Click on "Done"
13. Create new email On iPad and click on + in any one of the "To" lines and search for "XXX Group for iPad" You cannot just key in XXX Group for iPad!!!!!!!, you must use + contact search.
14. Enter the selected iPad contact group into the "To" line.
15. All the entries will now appear in the "To" line and you are good to go.
Adding or deleting email addresses from the iPad group:
Easiest: Alter the original mac group in the usual way and repeat steps 1-14 above. It seems impossible to edit within the emai line of the iPad contact entry.
Rediculously simple once figured out.
Happy emailling, but please send Bcc so that you don't spread your groups' email addresses all over the internet for spam, viruses, and other unwanted emails. Be considerate and ask your recipients to notifiy you if they wish to be deleted from the lists you compose.
