My (old) iPad crasches contiously in safari. What can I do?

Close inactive apps
1. Double click the Home button to show Task Bar
2. Hold the apps down for a second or two until they start to wiggle.
3. Tap the minus to close apps

I've noticed that my iPad safari is often crashing. I've tried restarting it, and believe that it's updated with the latest software. Any thoughts on what's going on.

See if the following help. Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History
Then close Safari and do a reset. To close Safari : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
To do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Turning off iCloud and multitasking gestures on the iPad might also help.

Safari very often stops working.

Safari very often stops working. I have tried to clear the history and coockies and powered off. Then Safari works on s few pages and stops again. I have checked the network by doing exactly the same things on another ipad, and that works fine. Any suggestions?

When you say that it stops working, I assume that you mean the app crashes and takes you back to the home screen. Close all of the apps in the recents tray on the iPad, clear Safar again (delete the cookies and data) reboot the iPad and then see if Safari behaves a little better.

Go to Settings>Safari>Cookies and Data. Now reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

IPad Safari IOS 5 window.close() closing wrong window

When I want to close the child window(although now they open as tabs) in the parent window with javascript window.close(),the parent window was closed.
Is this a bug or have any solution?

I'm having the exact same problem. On iPad Safari on iOS 5 attempting to close a popup window with close() is causing the parent window to close instead. Every other browser, including iPhone Safari on iOS 5 it works fine. I've been trying to come up with a workaround but haven't found anything yet. If anyone can find a workaround please post.

I'd start by force quitting Safari and clearing the Safari cache:
Double-click the Home button
Swipe left or right until you see Safari
Swipe UP on the app's preview to close it
Click the Home button.
Go to the Settings on your iPad
Tap the Safari sub-menu
Within the Safari menu, tap the "Clear Cookies and Data" button
In the pop-up window, tap "Clear"

Hi, I quitted Safari and press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons silmutaneously unti the Ipad turn off and on with the logo Apple appears but it has hanged on and fixed to the point. I think my Ipad is fault now. I guess I must connect it to the computer with itune, or something. I have always found spell check to be "buggy" in every version of all of the iOS's that I have run on my original model iPad and my new iPad - especially when replying and typing posts in these forums. It works perfectly in every other application on my iPad but it has never worked perfectly in any web browser that I have used on my iPad - no matter what I have done to try to correct it. That is what MY experience has been with spell check on my iPads.
As for the crashes on your iPad try these basic troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Hi Viraj,
You need to upload an image "pdf.gif" in \etc\public\mimes\images folder.
Also, you need to define the MIME Type for PDF documents in portal.
Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Utilities -> MIME Types.
Check whether you already have a MIME Type for PDF or not. Else you can create a new Type "pdf" with MIME Type "application/pdf".

Issue with viewing SAP Dashboards Portal iView in iPad Safari browser (Mobile)

Hi,
I am facing an issue while viewing iViews hosted in SAP Enterprise Portal. I have two iViews -
1) An SAP BICS Dashboard - Published as an iView in EP. I can see the dashboard in my laptop running properly. It consumes BEx queries (BICS dashboard) in the background.
2) A BEx query published as an iView (java web format), also able to run and execute from my laptop.
When I am logging into the portal from IPad Safari web browser I am able to see and run the BEx query iView published in the portal.
However, for the SAP Dashboard iView, it is showing me a blank page after loading. Is it possible to see SAP BICS Dashboard through an iView in Ipad?
I need to run the dashboard iView from the IPad as well. It is an urgent requirement

Don't spend your time to find the reason.
BI platform content is not supported directly in Safari on iPad or Chrome on Android, only through the Mobile BI apps on these platforms.
Please see PAM chapter "SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Mobile Clients supported with this release"

Problem which im facing is when the focus goes to new window below part of code not getting invoked after ajax call completed in parent window.
-> It gets invoke only when i select parent window where the original Ajax call has happened.

Yes, and those might be available through some of the alternative browsers available in the App Store. In addition, iOS provides a range of ways you can filter web content there in Settings. I've not played with it but it looks as though you could exert some control that way.

IPad safari reader option redirects to authentication page of the site.

I used to read online magazine in ipad safari which is a paid site requires authentication.
When i click Reader option in safari and back to normal page the site asks for authentication again. I have already saved the passwords in safari.
Is there any workaround to get rid of this ?

Need to have iPad Safari browser support

OK I know this is hard to do, but I have a site that is redering badly only on the iPad Safari Browser. It works perfectly in all other browsers on all other platforms. Any way to get this support?

This is very difficult to do. To solve this problem would require one of the following, each of which has it's own set of problems.
Run the content on emulators/simulators on our servers. Far from ideal since inevitably the emulators will be different from the actual browser on the device and our discussions with users indicate this is not acceptable.
Actually host multiple iPads with custom software/hardware modifications to allow us to control them and capture screenshots to return to the BrowserLab client software. This is a very expensive solution for us since it would require constant replacement of expensive mobile devices.
So, unfortunately, no. BrowserLab does not currently support testing on any mobile devices, sorry.
