IPAD - unable to read downloaded books w/o internet connection

New iPAD user this week.
I have downloaded a couple books, but I can only read them when I am someplace with internet connection. Reading the instructions in the manual does not specifically tell me what I have done wrong.
what tool do you need so that when you purchase / download a book you can access and read it ANYPLACE without internet access??

set up my Apple account on my iPAD > clicked on my "App Store" icon [first time it asked me for confirmation and I re-imput my password for access] > found a book to download, clicked on it > system asked me if I wanted the iBooks app, I clicked yes >
proceeded to download the book I wanted and successfully opened and read it several times on my iPAD.
then found out 2 days ago that the book will not open if I am not in an internet area.
so the e-reader app is different from the iBook app??
(lawd... I hate being a newbie)

If you are syncing with a computer and transferring your purchases there you can sync the 2nd iPad with the computer and transfer all of them (quickest method). If you are using the same Apple ID on the 2nd iPad you can download them again without being charged.

What happens when you try to read them ? If the app is abending or not displaying properly then try closing the app via the iPad's taskbar and see if it work when you re-open it : iOS: Force an app to close.

Only if you are running OS 10.9, which includes the iBooks app.

10/4-2014 - "GarageBand was not able to complete the download. Check your internet connection and try downloading again." Ver. 10.0.2.

I have downloaded GarageBand and when I first clicked to open it started dowloading a content package. But then in the middle of this it told me that my perfectly fast working internet connection was not availeble. See attached screenshot.
Does anybody know how to solve this?
I have tried deleting and downloading againg but same message appears.

I have not been able to sync my yahoo mail with my iphone. I get the error message itunes couldn't syce with yahoo address book because an internet connection is not available. I am connected thru a routed - and never loose connection & am able to view websites when I get this message. I have synced with windows address book (not really sure where that comes from), but when I did that I lost a bunch of contacts that I put into my phone.

From others (on the Logic Forums), it seems that there may have been issues with Apple's servers.
Try again...
if that does not work, delete Mainstage, and then try again to download teh whole thing.

Unable to read E-Book (in Jar Format) in Nokia Ash...

I got Nokia Asha 305 Model. Tried to read E-Book (which I got in JAR Format) but my phone is not allowing it. Even though I am able to play games which are available in the same JAR Format.
Please advice.

.jar is basically just a .zip package. It's usually used just for delivering/packaging applications to the devices, not other content like eBooks. However if you tell me what exactly you downloaded, this could be easily checked.

I have an iPad mini - trying to set up a wifi internet connection on Windows 7 laptop.

Have a new iPad and need to still set it up. Problem is that it needs to connect to a wifi internet connection which I have set up on my Win7 laptop. The iPad mini sees the network but can't connect to it......... What am I doint wrong? I have set the network up via the adhoc network set up and have done everything as per the turorials I have seen, but it still won't to connect. Is this possible and if so, how do I do it? I have tried the ad-hoc network way and the iPad recognises it but can't connect to it. THANKS A MIL

Windows 7 Home Basic does not support ad hoc or hosted network functionality (what Connectify and Virtual Router use). At a minimum you would need to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. Note the Applies to these editions of Windows 7 statement at the right in this article.

Again using a broadband wireless (WiFi) router is the best way to go presuming its in your budget.

Apple tv2 movie rental cache drops off and won't finish downloading (not related to internet connection)

I'm having an issue with my apple tv2 when renting movies. This isn't with home-sharing but just renting movies only with the apple tv. We've done this with 10 or so movies up until the issue so it has worked in the past.
What happens is that the movie downloads to a certain point and then the cache bar goes immediately to the end of the progress bar like the whole movie is downloaded. The movie will play to a certain point, say the 9 minute mark, and then the picture just freezes with no more sound but the progress bar tracker continues along like it's still playing. This has happened on multiple movies now.
We've spoken to support about this and tried a variety of troubleshooting ideas. Unplugged, reset, restored, updated firmware, etc. with no luck. The download will restart but freezes at the exact second that it did before while showing that the cached download is complete. We've checked the internet connection with other devices and there's no connection problem at all. Reset the router as well for good measure but no change.
I know we can try renting and downloading on the computer first and then sharing with the apple tv but I would prefer to know why it's not working on the apple tv itself.
Any ideas would be great.

Yeah, that's what we thought too so we got a refund (by using the report a problem link and explaining what happened) and tried a different movie with the same result. Used the link again after the second movie didn't work and went through pretty much the same troubleshooting steps with them.
Basically the only solution offered so far has been to take it to a licensed apple retailer for them to take a look.
