Ipad usb or SD card

i am looking at getting an ipad but wondering if i plug in the accessory to attach a camera can i plug a usb stick in to this or a SD card with eg a word document on it to down load and open?

The Camera Connection Kit comes with two adapters: One that reads SD cards and another that provides an USB port. The latter is meant to attach a camera to it, but some people also got it to work with some USB card readers.
Having said that: All you can transfer that way are photos and videos, not word documents. For that, try DropBox or a similar service.

  • How can we interface external usb camera or usb device(storage, card reader) to Ipad 2.What all things are need(any development Kit apart from IOS sdk)

    Hi,
Before going any further in my research, I want to know the views and opinions about the intent of my work I am about to start.
AIM : I am trying to interface an external uvc camera with the ipad 2 and iphone .Just like in android there is a node(in unix and linux everythign is a file)which gets created in the /dev/ directory which can be accesses by the application using the native interfaces (JNI) and finally via the android code.I am trying to develop the similair application for the ipad 2 and iphone.
Can some one plz point out :
    (1) How I can interface external hardware like ( external uvc camera) or any other USB device(a card reader, a storage device, a barometer etc)
    (2) I have googled about Apple's Authentication chip which can be used to interface the external h/w.Can some one point out how useful it is.Is this related to that somehow.
(3)What are the things similair to JNI, node, /dev/ in the IOS for Ipad 2 and Iphone.
I will be highly obliged ,if some one could provide me the top pointers on it.
    Thanks and Rgds,

  • When I connect the USB dongle from the camera connection kit I get an accessory not supported by iPad message. The card reader triggered the same msg but works now. Same msg with vga. Have tried rebooting

When I connect the USB dongle from the camera connection kit I get an accessory not supported by iPad message. The card reader triggered the same msg but works now. Same msg with vga. Others have posted this problem but the only suggestion anyone has offered is to reboot, which doesn't help. I've tried.

Thanks Fred. The nearest Apple store is about two hours away, so we did the next best thing & took it to Best Buy. It stumped the "Apple Guy" there. Apparently when an Apple product is turned on it works. Period. I'm impressed that the products are normally so dependable--it just stinks that I got the one in a million that's not. Anyway, now we wait for a service call Tuesday morning. Thanks again!

  • Help with Ipad /USB

Hi we off camping in a few days to the Kimberleys and the 12v TV plays the movies saved on my USB expansion drive but in the tiniest size, and a bit hard to watch something the size of say a phone, so I am wondering if anyone can advise me if there is such a thing to purchase so I can some how buy a cable that will allow me to plug the expansion drive -USB to an adaptor that will connect to the ipad so we can watch movies? The movies have not been downloaded via Apple, will this make a difference? Any info would be great, and in simple language please. Thanks for your help

In the past I've managed to copy an MP4 film via an SD card with the camera connction kit to the iPad's Photos app and been able to play it (it doesn't work with iTunes purchased videos) - that requires you to copy the film to the iPad from the SD card. Also the kit only recognises content that is in a particular format - the card has to have a DCIM directory off its root, with the photos/videos underneath it with filenames exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus file extension.
There are also a number of wifi-enabled drives available which allow you to stream content to the iPad, so you don't need to store the films on the iPad e.g. GoFlex Satellite.

  • HT4236 Can I copy photos from my iPad to an SD card?

I want to copy photos from my iPad to a sd card. Is this possible?

iPad Camera Connection Kit - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC531ZM/A - "The iPad Camera Connection Kit gives you two ways to import photos and videos from a digital camera: using your camera’s USB cable or directly from an SD card." Can also be used to copy photos from USB drive, see https://discussions.apple.com/message/18771759
Double check what the above exactly does.  It may only work with camera connections and maybe only one direction.  Related topic at: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3684518

  • How can i move pictures from my ipad to a SD card?

I have the adapter for the sd card and i can load on to the ipad. But i would like to load from the ipad to the SD card with out having to load the photos on to my computer. Is this possible?

No, sorry, the transfer is one way, from the card to the iPad. The iPad can't save back out to the card. You'll need to transfer the photos to a computer, get if necessary an SD adapter for the computer, and load them from there.

  • In new iPad 4g, when sim card is not inserted, I can not find the enable 4g tap in the setting-cellular data tap, can some one please tell me if this is normal and if so, then when it appears, thanks

If the SIM is out of your phone, find my phone needs a data connection, so could use wifi - IF in range of a wifi and one that it can join (ie. a known network or one that is wholly open so no login required).  Your phone could also simple be turned off, so not findable, or it may have been restored (plugged into iTunes and restored as new) again, making it permanently unfindable.  Honestly, for someone stealing an iPhone, this is likely the first thing they do - restore as new and it is theirs forever.
Find my iPhone is tied to the users iCloud account - the find function is part of the iCloud account's services and it communicates with the iCloud servers over a data connection - either wifi or 3G.
Have you set up your iCloud account on your replacement phone, and is it working properly on that phone?

  • IPhone 4 not recognized when connected to new USB 2.0 card

I have an iphone 4 OS4.1 on a no-name Windows XP Pro (service pack 3) PC with an AMD processor and lots of RAM.
I had the phone working and syncing beautifully with the onboard USB 1.1 but it was slow. So I bought a new PCI USB 2.0 card and installed it. Card is installed and there are no problems according to the status in System Devices.
But the computer does not recognize the iphone when plugged into one of those ports. If I plug it into one of the USB 1.1 ports that are still in the machine, it syncs and works fine. If I plug it into one of the new USB 2.0 ports, the PC shows the window at bottom right saying the device is not recognized. Tried the wizard but it's useless.
    THOUGHTS?????

    Nevermind!!!
It turned out to be a faulty cable! I tried it with a different sync cable and it works fine!
    So disregard the question above.

  • SanDisk USB 3.0 Card Reader does not work with OSX Mavericks.

Since updating to OSX Mavericks (10.9) My  USB 3.0 SanDisk "ImageMate All-in-One" Card Reader has begun to fail.
It all seems to work proper at first. The memory card shows up in finder and I'm able to browse the files. But when I try to transfer any files it un-mounts from finder and only transfers the first file.
This does not happen under previous OSX versions. I have tried on other computers since, so the card reader is fine.
My USB 2.0 card reader saved my life this time. It works totally fine.
Is this a known problem? Are you guys working on it?

  • I bought an iPad and an iTunes card, I want to buy an application from the Apps store but it only gives me the option of credit card.  How can I buy Pages with my iTunes card to my iPad? thank you

I bought an iPad and an iTunes card, I want to buy an application from the Apps store but it only gives me the option of credit card.  How can I buy Pages with my iTunes card to my iPad? thank you

Have you redeemed your iTunes card to an account associated with an Apple ID?
Once you have your iPad associated with an Apple ID AND you have an account with a credit card associated with the same Apple ID AND you have some 'store credit' (from redeeming your iTunes card) then purchases use the store credit before they charge the credit card, so you should be ok!
Personally, I use 'store credit' as a way to monitor whether or not there have been any 'unauthorised' purchases because as soon as the store credit is zero, the security code from the credit card is needed for further purchases!  It does mean that I have sometimes to top up store credit before making a purchase, but 'better safe than sorry'!

  • Shuffle isn't recognized through USB 2.0 card

My 1st Gen Shuffle is perfectly functional when I plug it into one of the USB 1.1 ports on my PB, but unfortunately, when I connect the Shuffle to one of the ports of a USB 2.0 card inserted in my PB, the Shuffle does not appear in iTunes or anywhere else on my system. The status light above the click wheel just blinks.
The card is an Adaptec USB2connect For Notebooks, and I have no problems connecting and using my 4th Gen iPod through its ports. The Shuffle works through the USB 1.1 port, but for speedier transfer times, I'd prefer to use it through one of the USB 2.0 ports on the card.
Does the 1st Gen Shuffle recognize third-party USB 2.0 cards? If so, is this particular card the problem? Any and all ideas about this would be most welcome. Thanks.

  • USB TV Tuner Card for Macbook Air

    Dear all,
Hello! i'm using a Macbook Air (mid-2012) 11.6". i'm in need of a USB tv tuner card. Which brand i should choose?
Please note that, Gadmei is the most available brand in our country. is it possible to use this brand of tv tuner (USB) with Macbook air? OS is- MacOSX 10.9.2 (mavericks). Please suggest.
Also plz tell me is there any way to use Gadmei or RealMedia TV tuner with mac without official mac driver? (i mean using EyeTV or such third-party TV app)
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

Unfortunately most of these TV devices require USB2 bandwidth so are not suitable for the iMac G3.
The Firewire versions (EyeTV 310, 410 and 610 depending on input type) are the only options.
The EyeTV 250 is an analogue only Tuner that does work on USB1.1 but in a low quality mode only.

  • PCIe USB 3.0 Card appears in system report, but won't mount drives

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro running Mavericks 10.9.2
Bought an Orico PME-4U USB 3.0 4-port PCIe card with the Sata power cable.
Installations seems to go okay -- the card is powered by one of the empty hard drive bays.  The card appears in my computer's System Report as follows:
    NEC USB 3.0:
      Name:          pci1b73,1100
      Type:          USB Superspeed Bus
      Driver Installed:          Yes
      MSI:          Yes
      Bus:          PCI
      Slot:          Slot-3
      Vendor ID:          0x1b73
      Device ID:          0x1100
      Subsystem Vendor ID:          0x1b73
      Subsystem ID:          0x1100
      Revision ID:          0x0001
      Link Width:          x1
      Link Speed:          2.5 GT/s
When I plug in external drives, they receive power from the card, but nothing will mount.
Is it a faulty card?  This is the second USB 3.0 card I've tried unsuccessfully.

Orico tech support had nothing to add beyond installing "GenericUSBXHCI.kext" and trying out different PCI slots.
I've tried two brands of PCIe USB 3.0 cards now and neither work.
I've also checked the SATA power cable and it works with the 4-port Firewire 800 PCIe card I have, so it's not that.
    Anybody have any ideas?
