IPhone 2G- users, how long did your phone last?

I just got a 3G iPhone and I'm wondering if my phone will last the whole 2 year contract I have with AT&T... and hopefully longer when I renew my contract (so I don't have to buy a new iPhone)..
How many of you still use your original 2G iPhone for over a year+, and still no issues? (like dead pixels, or dead spots on the screen)
For those who do have issues, how long did it take for those issues to pop up? 6 months? 1 year? 2 years?

Mine is still gong strong after more than a year.

  • How long did your MacBook Pro take to arrive?

My MBP is coming direct from Apple but as it was purchased via a reseller I have no tracking.
Its been over 9 working days already, but the apple site says 2-3 days is typical?
I'm soooo excited but its quickly turning to disappointment with every afternoon.
How long did yours take to arrive?

    Hi there,
When I ordered my custom MBP on June 25, it also said 2-3 days to ship. It shipped the 28th from China and arrived via FedEx on July 3rd. That was with standard shipping. I'm not sure if you used expedited shipping or not, but fyi, it is expedited only after going through customs - i.e. 2 day shipping will mean 2 days after going through customs. Depending on when you ordered, especially if you ordered right before or after Independence Day, it could be a day or two extra to process.
Good luck, and I hope you enjoy it when it finally arrives.

  • How long did your first wireless back up take??

After doing the initial back up via ethernet, how long did your first wireless back up take?? I can't seem to get past the preparing stage. However I have recently learned that the first time backing up wirelessly, the finder indexes the back up & this can take a while. I'm leaving it a little longer now. It has been preparing for about half an hour now.
    Is this normal?
How long does this indexing take?
    What are your experiences?
    Thanks.

So far for me it's been five days. I hooked up Time Capsule Thursday night, and after monitoring the progress for a few hours, I calculated that it should take three days, which I figured would mean that it should finish up by Sunday evening. (My MacBookPro had 103 gigs on it.)
It would have been nice if the instructions that came with the **** thing said something up front about hooking up via an ethernet cable for the initial backup. If I had seen those instructions before I started this nightmare, I might be done by now. Instead I started the backup wirelessly, which I'm sure accounts for some of the delay and hassle.
Unfortunately, the backup pace slowed steadily over the course of the weekend. By Saturday night, it had only done about 60 gigabyites, and by Sunday afternoon, it was only up to around 65. At that pace I figured I might be waiting another week before it finished, and since I actually take my computer with me when I leave my house, this would have deprived me of my computer for an unacceptable period. After doing some internet research and learning that using an ethernet cable would speed up the process, I therefore stopped the wireless backup, hooked up a cable, and restarted it at around 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
The backup then proceeded steadily at a faster (although not exactly zippy) pace. By midnight it had gotten through about 60 gigabytes, and after timing the rate at which it was proceeding by that time, I estimated that it should finish sometime around 8 p.m. tonight (Monday).
I left the computer along during the day while I ran errands away from home. When I got back around 6:30, it appeared to have finished the initial backup and to be in the process of finishing up an incremental backup. The progress bar said "backing up 12,443 items...51.3 MB of 51.3 MB." Unfortunately, it seems to be stuck there. It's now 8 p.m., and it still says it's working on those 51.3 MB. I don't know how much longer I should wait before deciding that it's frozen.
I'd like to just set this thing on fire. I bought the Time Capsule because I liked the idea of wireless, automatic backups. It was supposed to make my life easier, not make it a living ****.

  • How long did your installation take?

How long did your installation take? I'm just curious because mine went from saying 3 hours and 54 min, down to 54 min and sorta bounced around, its about 3/4 done.

Total, err, maybe a little over an hour? The counter was way wrong the whole time, so, yeah. Don't be surprised if when it says "About a minute remaining..." you actually wait about 20 more minutes. This seems to be happening to almost everyone. I know for sure it happened to me. The best advice I can give on the Leopard installer is this: It's a very poorly written piece of software, so, be patient, and give it lots of your time and love.

  • How long has your laptop lasted? please participate

I thought it would be beneficial to many such as myself who is new to Lenovo & trying to determine which might be best to buy as our first.
I totally understand that how one cares for their pc can greatly contribute to the longevity of their pc, so keeping that in mind.
    1.  Which laptop(s) (8 years or younger) have you had/do you have?  ThinkPad, IdeaPad, Edge, etc....series & model
    2.  How long did it last &/or still going strong?
    3.  Did you need to take it in for repairs?  If so, at what age did probs arise & what were they?
    4.  How do you use your pc?  Such as the strain thru usage such as heavy-medium-light gaming, watching videos, office use, facebook & the like, youtube, surfing, streaming movies/tv, skype, etc....as well as how often you use it i.e.: 24/7, a few hours (more or less) straight, etc.
Thanks in advance for any and all participation.

    Well, let me chime in...
    1) I believe I've owned every single R, T, W, X (apart from 1** range) and Z series ThinkPad prior to *30 generation. In quantities. Make that large quantities. No IdeaPads, L, S, SL, or Edge series ever.
    2) Most of these machines are still up and running to the best of my knowledge and belief. I wouldn't be able to trace every single one of them, though.
    3) Every generation has its own specific problems, small or large. I could write a book answering this part of your question.
    4) I don't play games on my PCs but do just about everything else and most of them are turned on 24/7/365.
The oldest working ThinkPad I own is X24 from 2001. The newest one is W520 which is not two years old yet.
And there's about a dozen of them in between...
What are you actually trying to determine?
    Cheers,
    George

  • How long did your repair take

    Hey all,
My Powerbook recently went in for a transplant (Trackpad issues) and its been a week now and im getting antsy. Last time it only took 3 days. My question is how long should i expect my repairs to take (i.e whats the longest you've gone without your PB). Also the first time my motherboard was upgraded from 1.5 to 1.67 and now on the repair document, another "1.5GHz MLB" was requested instead of "1.5/1.67 MLB". Does that mean i'l get downgraded, if so that'll be torture. Call me weird but i just wouldn't accept that and that would be the catalyst for my decision to get a macbook and sell the PB. Any thoughts welcomed

With a pb under warranty and another £50+VAT=£60ish to jump the queue at Cancom (looks like a bribe to me), it took 10 days to replace the logic board. Although I did make sure before leaving it there that the parts were available. Still testing it to see if it works!

  • How long did your guys' processing take?

I ordered my 16Gb ipad 3 on sunday, they were in stock.

So no one here can answer your question.

  • How long did your pc hold?

This goes for any kind of pc ;p my msi pc's graphic card just broke after 11 months. How did yours do?

I think its a bit unfair to base your viewpoint on SegaStep's experience only. He OC'ed the living daylights out of his boards and then tried to get past the max CPU voltage limitations that were imposed by the BIOS.    see here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=170012.msg1248266#msg1248266
My K8n Neo4 lasted 5 years before lightning destroyed it.
My P45 Platinum was burgled after around 3 years.
My Z68 board with a 2600K oced to 4,5GHz has been going on 4 years now and my nephew is using it.
    My Z77 with a 3770K Oce'd to 4,5GHz on 3 years now.
    So I never had  problems.
Didn't even list my GPUs, none of which has ever broken.

  • How Long Did Your Upgrade Take?

My upgrade is still going, I think. The Iphone screen is on, the white bar is full white. On ITunes, the "Updating Iphone Software" dialog box is full green. My hard drive continues to be accessed, and my internet continues to pass data occasionally.
I'm not sure if I have a problem or not.
    Any help appreciated.

    I updated using itunes.
I put the phone in airplane mode and hit the update key, it took 20 minutes in a start to finish flawless update and installation.
note: my imac is a stand alone machine (no networks, airport, or bluetooth running)

  • How long did your  23" LCD  last.

I have a dead Apple 23" LCD, tech says its not repairable.
Purchased in 2002 for over $5,000 (Canadian $).
Canadian Law requires products to be durable for a reasonable period of time.
Is 4 yrs 6 mths a reasonable period for such a product to last?
I have several very much older CRT monitors still going strong.
    Macbook Pro 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1gig ram, 7200rpm drive

4 peices of 23" ADC did start to get bad after 1,5-2 years, persistance / ghosting made me choose another brand for my next investment. Too bad, they look great and are good in the beginning, but I think it´s´a matter of quality,It´s not as good Apple did say in the beginning and still for me are ignoring.
Been a mac addict since 1988 and have bought almost every model that been sold, this is my first and big mistake.
As I work in video / print design for broadcast ,posters ,etc ,I really need quality........
I am working with a 2x KVM DVI switch connected to 7 Macs (G5:s and one PC)
4 x23" screens ( a pretty set up), a tablet and so on, The screens make it look "top gear" but the truth is I will choose another brand next time......

  • Exactly how long did it take before YOUR headphones went out?

This being my second iPod and knowing many a people who have owned iPods I knew when I bought the new 5th gen that the headphones would probable only last me a month. They lasted a week. Ok I went back to the Apple store and had them exchanged them. These have lasted me a surprising long time. 3 weeks.
My question, like the famous tootsie roll comercial, how long did it take before your headphones went out? ANd how many times can you have them exchanged?
    Mac OS X (10.3.6)
      Mac OS X (10.3.6)

I've been using 2G on and off for 3 years and just handed mine to my son. He wanted the cool iPod look with his non-iPod. I just opened my 2G Mini head phones a month ago. I havent opened my 5G yet. The newer ones seems a little bit cheaper made.
It all depends on how you treat it. I fall asleep with them on and still havent destroyed 2g Mini's. Too bad mine doesn't die so I can replace them with something better.
When buying new phones, check the user reviews, I know Koss notoriously go bad. Senheiser seems good.

  • How long does your iphone take to charge?

How long does your iphone take to charge when at various battery levels remaining?
When your iphone is at 10% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
When your iphone is at 20% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
When your iphone is at 50% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
(Assuming that you charge the phone when the phone is off using the Apple USB cable or dock through a wall power outlet)

    Usually 1 1/2 Hours tops.
When your iphone is at 20% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
    Around the Same
When your iphone is at 50% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
    Thirty Minutes.
I think if it is taking you 6 to 7 hours then something is wrong here. Either the battery is flawed, the cable or dock is flawed, or something is wrong with the outlet. It should not take that long.

Well the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.
    Good Luck
